The day was bright and bustling. A filly trotted through town. Busy ponies rushing about. Cheerlie and Rarity were talking about the school play's costumes. Young Sweetie Drops and Ditsy Do ran about. Some adult ponies walked about. Young Fluttershy had been shopping for her family. The house's shadows cast to say it was early morning. Canterlot's silver, gold, and glass structures shone in the early daylight. The filly had walked to the outskirts checked to see if anypony was out here. The crisp and dew coated grass flattening under her. She snickered softly as she trotted out of Ponyville, Intending on practicing her new super secret routine. Or rather, she planned on creating this super secret routine. She shivered as a gust of wind trailed by. Looking around, she saw no ponies. Her steady trot quickening, ears flattening down. The Rainbow mane was well kept to say the least. Her icey blue coat warm with the sun's heat. Her beautiful tail waving behind her. She jumped into the crisp air ,and as if on cue, her wings began to flap gently. Just enough to keep her hovering. "Should i go all out? Hold off til the end?" She asked aloud. As she contemplated, the young pony following her had stopped. His dark blue mane laying to the side over one of his eyes. The pale sky blue coat blended well in the skys but not down here. He tossed his saddlebags on the green grass that closely looked like his eyes. He jumped and started to hover towards the pegasus. The adorable filly he'd been meaning to talk to. He was a year older than her ,but he was in love. He tapped her shoulder and yelped out "Hi!"   The mare was startled as a cold hoof touched her shoulder and the familiar "Hi" hit her ears. She flew forward and spun around to face the pony "Soarin? H-how'd you find me?" She was half yelling at him for scaring her ,and  interrupting her practice. She saw his eyes fall to the ground. "I uhm...followed you...at least I didn't bring Spitfire and Cloudchaser right?" He was given very little to react to her hostile glare at the mention of their names. He backed up a bit ,and said "I'm sorrry...I'll leave." He turned to fly away his. He felt defeated. Clearly she came out here to practice. He really wanted her to know how he felt. She was surprised by how down he looked. Her hoof instinctively reached out to stop him. "No, don't leave. My secret won't be released as long as you say nothing." She aimed to reassure him. But she was caught of guard by something she never expected. His voice came out, but sounded less energized as a moment ago. "Rainbow. I just..." He looked down as he let out a long sigh, sounding depressed and pain filled. "I really need to tell you something." Tears started to form ,and his voice started to waver as he said this. He was afraid of rejection. "Yeah Soar is something wrong?" Rainbow's voice was etched with worry at the sight of him. Suddenly he turned away, and covered his eyes. Did she just see tears? She put a hoof on his shoulder "Soar you're making me worried dude" He spun around. Tears drenching his cheeks. "I love you, but i don't think you love me back and i didn't want to be rejected!" He flew off but could barely see resulting in him crashing on the ground. He stopped and lay there. He loves me...i didn't think he did...She thought to herself. She hurried to get to him. He was sobbing. She had to say something "Soar, i didn't know you felt the same way, but I just wanted to a-" her sentence was lost in a kiss. Soarin kissed her. Both blushed but soon melted into it. She broke away ,and hugged him tightly. Suddenly a mocking and crude voice that they found obvious rang in the peaceful air. "Well, well, well...looks like a certain pony lied to me." Soarin let out a low snarl. Rainbow split from her love to growl out the word "you" The enraged couple glared daggers at the smug mare. She had firey hair of orange and yellow. Her pale yellow coat shining in the sunlight. "Thought you said you didn't have a crush on her Soarin."   His eyes met hers. A mocking, but brutally hurtful pair glared at him. "What do you want...Spitfire?" Her name made him whimper. She gave him a taunting smile. All bets aside, Spitfire could easily knock Soarin out. He was usually avoiding the demon of Ponyville Flight Team. Now he was face to face with her. "Well Soarin I came to find you so I could tell you coach wants you off the team. You've been missing so many practices. It's a wonder how you got in? Just to let you know the top team members go to Wonderbolt Academy. The most prestigious of schools, but unfortunately you won't be." The last part sounded sarcastic. His heart fell. He always dreamed of being in the Wonderbolt Academy. Now his dreams were crushed. "What? He can't go?" Rainbow was on the verge of punching Spitfire into next year. She was the coach's daughter. That was completely unfair. She snapped. Hitting Spitfire and starting a fight. Hours Later, Soarin lay ,hoof wrapped around Rainbow, he'd gotten a black eye trying to stop the fight. His heart was trying to mend itself. Rainbow was bruised but other than that fine. "You feeling okay?" She asked worriedly. His smiled at her. "My eye hurts, but I'm okay." He was still depressed but worry was not what he wanted to have happen. He lightly kissed her forehead. After a moment she'd fallen asleep. Her soft snores gently coaxing Soarin to sleep. The night came then the next morning. Soarin awoke to a note. Dear Soarin. I'll meet you at ponyville plaza tonight. Love R.D. //-------------------------------------------------------// Stop! //-------------------------------------------------------// Stop! Rainbow flew about looking for her colt. He'd flown off a moment ago. Just like the last time. It'd been a year since their first real date. She'd never seen such behavioural habits escape her lover. Maybe he needed to be appreciated? Was he still down about having everything he worked for snatched from under him. It's unfair that he suffers whilst she sits idle. She needed to find him. Soarin however was back at the place that he'd confessed to her how he felt. Moments before all of what he loved collapsed. Now all he had was her, his family, and his friend, Big Macintosh, whom he'd talked to many times before. Lucky he had Mac around. He knew lots on a subject that a 15 year old colt shouldn't need to know. Sex. It was an odd topic, but they're colts. They live to think of the day their virginity is snatched. Rainbow Dash hurried herself all over the town. Accidentally knocking over a filly and her cello. She shouted an apology over her shoulder and continued to dash about the city, starting to panic. Her fear at what may have become of Soarin mixed with the evident recklessness led her to completely and accidentally slam right into a filly with bizarre eyes. Rainbow recognized the small filly. "Derpy?" She sked confusion edging her panicked tone. She had no time for chit chat with an old friend. This was beyond that. "Dashie, what's the rush? You look like you saw a phantom." Derpy was clumsy but indeed smart. Giving off the look of stupidity. "I'm looking for Soarin, have you seen him?" She prayed to celestia this filly would know. "Yeah, why?" She asked now considering why Dash would zip around the city for him. "I need to see him! Point in the direction he went!" Dashie said firmly and angrily. She wasn't keeping herself calm which in turn made Derpy cry, she indeed pointed the right way. Then ran home without a goodbye. Rainbow didn't care right now she got a move on and flew in the direction she pointed to. She found the only place he could be. Sweet Apple Acres, she ran up to the door of the barn. Knocking frantically.A filly opened the door. Her hair a wreck as Rarity would say. She gruffly asked in a hard accent. "Can ah help ya?" "Yes, have you seen Soarin?" She asked before the orange mare could finish. She stared at Dash blankly. "Yeah he's here...With mah brother Big Macintosh...in his room...doing celestia knows what." She said bluntly. Dash bolted up the stairs. Opening the door to see her boyfriend and this colt, Big Macintosh, sitting and doing something with a deck of cards and a couple of sodas. Soarin walked up to Rainbow. His face saying he was less than okay with her randomly being here. "Dashie, what do you want?" "I-I saw you...starting to c-cry so I came to check on you." She stuttered out. "Dashie, I'm fine...it's alright. I'm okay. I was just hanging out with my friend. He and I are playing card games...please get home before your parents notice." He said in whispers. He gently pushed her out. Rainbow went back home, wondering why he'd go to a friend immediately after a date? It's bizarre. She went home sneaked in and lay herself to rest. //-------------------------------------------------------// A Lovely Night //-------------------------------------------------------// A Lovely Night Soarin walked to town square. His heart shattered. His dreams were devastated. The darkness felt great. The shadowy figures of buildings, lights poking out of some of them. His thoughts were flowing ike the waters of the fountain in Town Square. What if this is a prank. A hoax? He thought nervously. Tears welled up at the thought. He wouldn't be able to handle that level of rejection. "Hey, you showed up!" "GAH!" Soarin jumped. His heart racing. Turning and seeing Rainbow Dash. She looked amazing as ever. Her hair tied o the side of her head. He could smell a rainy scent. And sniffed a few times. Dashie now entered the light of a streetlamp. Her eyes making him calm. "I'm glad you didn't prank me." He said in relief. His eyes piercing through her. She whispered back "I'm glad you showed up. I wanted tonight to be special. A way to get to know each other." He shrugged. "Now what?" "Perhaps we could go and get a bite to eat?" She suggested simply, as if she'd planned to have this done. Her perfume practically made his hormones lose control. He found her attractive. Rainbow had her heart pounding with a passion more fiery than her rage. It made her feel alive. After all, her and Soarin had their dreams shattered. She needed to find a way to make him feel better. He clearly wasn't okay. She quickly kissed him. His face becoming red. Soarin was stunned with her speed. It felt amazing to have his lips locked with Dash's. He held her in a hug. Making out with his girlfriend. She enjoyed it deeply. Even in places not to be mentioned as of right now. She loved this colt. She really couldn't deny it. They went to a simple restaurant where a bizarre, pink maned, bouncy, mare worked. They sat in their booth looking up through the glass to the skies. The skies they practically owned. Those same skies where Soarin once felt at home. Now he couldn't face anypony. Rainbow didn't know that under that exterior lied a broken colt. One who'd been suffering. Now left behind by everything. His heart crumbled. Collapsed. Shattered. He had enough verbs to describe it. Now he wanted to free himself. They soon left, and he walked her home. To her family's home. Soarin kissed his lover deeply. Before leaving. She smiled. Going inside and rushing hurriedly to her bedroom. She was beyond joyous. Though this joy slowly fell. She saw him tearing up before turning away. She opened her window and flew out to find him.
