For a Sister

The white alicorn Celestia stands tall before a lineup of her golden armored Solar Guards. "I have an important mission, and I need a volunteer." As she speaks, she begins to pace back and forth in front of them, looking each of them in the eye. "It may be dangerous. You may not even come back. But, it must be done."

"We are at your command," one of them at the end remarks confidently.

Celestia raises her head with a little bit of pride. "Do you volunteer, my guard?"

"Just give the order, Your Highness."

"I need you to wake up my sister, Princess Luna."

The guard glances out the window and notes that the Sun has yet to set. While Luna awakes before she is needed, it is far earlier than required. "My Princess," he says with a minor worry. "Now?"

Among the other guards, a quiet murmuring starts. "That IS dangerous..." one of them comments.

"Worry not," Celestia states. "I have a plan. Carry it out, and you'll be fine."

"Y-yes, Your Highness..."

Knock knock kna-knock knock

Inside the decidedly dark chamber, the Princess of the Moon hears the noise and mumbles something not safe for work. Her ear twitches a little. But, she eventually rolls over and tries to pretend it didn't happen.

Knock knock kna-knock knock

The second rapping gets her to rise up from her mattress with a blanket hanging from her head. She looks at her clock and notes the time. "Oh, for Celestia's sake, leave us alone!!"

Knock knock kna-knock knock

"Thou had best be a good sprinter..." she groans as she lumbers over to the door. For some strange reason, she collects her standard black adornments and places them where the should be. Albeit a little crooked.

She opens the door and finds... nopony. She looks down the hall in one direction with heavy eyelids. And then down the other way. "Somepony shall perish..." Before she returns to her bedchamber, she spies something at her hooves. She looks down with partly cloudy eyes and finds a miniature cupcake with the frosting to resemble her cutie mark.

"What...?" she wonders with a cocked head. Without much of a thought, she munches it. With a single bite, it disappears. "Mmmm..." she moans happily. But, as she looks up, she spies another a few paces away. She walks over to it and vanquishes it just the same.

Her head raises more and she looks down the corridor. Placed on the rug laden stone floors are a line of more of these delectable mysteries. Down the hall and turning a corner. She jumps to one and takes it. She jumps to the next with the same intent. She licks her muzzle after a few.

"We are being lured," she muses. "Perhaps a more expedited method," she says with a little grin. Her horn glows a dark shade of blue and she watches the many little treats rise from the floor. She then walks happily and eats one after another at jaw level. She merely has to walk and munch. Walk and munch.

Her early arousal may have been forgiven for this. "These are good..." she states as she continues on like a dark pony Pacman. Her walk-snacking continues on down the halls of the castle while she passes a few of the Solar Guards that have yet to be relieved by her own Lunar Guards. They don't seem surprised by this. Or perhaps they've just seen weirder things.

Eventually her snacking comes to an end as there are no more little cupcakes guiding her way. She looks ahead and finds the door out to the Gardens. She suspects that this is where she has been led to. As she realizes the time, she thinks this to be an excellent spot to raise the Moon.

She opens the doors with her horn's magic and walks out. A thought passes her and she fixes her crown and collar. She runs her magic through her mane as a quick combing. She looks out and finds a gathering. "What is this?" she asks quietly. Her sister smiles at her while a select group of others stand behind her, notably the Element Bearers. There is also an assortment of snacks and food items on a few tables. She can already note some of those yummy cupcakes. Larger ones, too.

"Will you make the Moon rise?" Celestia sings happily. "We've been waiting all day...."

Luna puts a hoof to her face. She remembers this song. Or, at least a version of it.

"My, it's a gorgeous night," Celestia continues, "so we can spend it together, if it's alright?"

"Will you make the Moon rise?" the others sing along in a harmonius chorus.

By this point, Luna has tears running from her eyes. "What is all this?"

"It's the first Blue Moon since your return," Celestia says. "I thought you might like something special."

Luna sniffs while she tries to hold in her emotions. "Oh, Tia...." she groans. "I love you...."

"Well?" Celestia wonders.

With a tearful smile on her face, she uses her magic to 'grab' the Moon with her power. Little by little, it rises up into the sky once again. It is a beautiful full moon that gives a quiet light to everything below it.

"I see you found your cupcakes," Celestia says with a chuckle.

"Verily!!" Luna grins. "Quite delicious!!"

"Good!! Because," Celestia says quietly. "Your muzzle is covered in frosting..."

Luna's eyes widen at the thought and quickly whips her tongue around to scrape off anything that she might have missed. But, Celestia just shakes her head and levitates a napkin over to her. Luna takes it with her own power and takes care of business properly.

"What did you make these with?" Luna wonders.

"It seemed appropriate," Celestia notes as she levitates a bottle over from the table. The label reads 'Blue Moon Ale.' "Quite good by itself."

Luna looks at the bottle passed to her. "We feel honored that you did this for us, Sister." She takes a drink from the bottle. "It IS good!!"

"Happy Blue Moon, Luna," Celestia says with a heartfelt smile.

"Yes," Luna agrees. "It is."
