Upon the death of his colthood friend, Compass Rose, Rooted Caution (Rooty) discovers that he has inherited a unique gift- a box of cider from varying years and places, paired with a journal of his friend's travels throughout equestria and distant territories. In the box also sits a letter from Compass, with a message for Rooty- a message that would change his life for the better.
