Famed Concert cellist Octavia Melody had been recently dating for the last 2 years with popular DJ in Ponyville, Vinyl Scratch, otherwise known in nightclub circles as DJPon3. The gray mare had become drawn to this mysterious DJ somehow after going with her friends Lyra and Bon Bon to a nightclub one day after a very stressful week of orchestra practice, she and her two friends had walked into the nightclub to be surrounded by many a pony who to Octavia seemed a bit uncouth to her liking. The cellist had grown up in Canterlot where she had lived with her parents, although well meaning, had spent much of their time and money grooming the young mare for her success as a cellist in the Canterlot Symphony Orchestra. All of that changed the day Octavia met the alabaster unicorn. She was different, she seemed to not have a care in the world with that puckish smile and those big purple glasses, and loved every second of the life she's living. It became something of a guilty pleasure for Octavia to go and see the nightclub DJ almost everyday after orchestra practice, or somehow running into her somewhere. She had this charm about her that Octavia seemed to really enjoy. That charm had begun to effect the cellist, getting her to loosen up just a bit more every time she was with Vinyl.
About a week before this all started, Octavia had gone to Rarity's house with Vinyl, Octavia was going to have afternoon tea with the fashionesta while the two of the gossiped about the things they had going on. Despite hanging around the white unicorn and picking up some of her habits, Octavia still stayed true to herself.Vinyl got the chance to entertain Rarity's little sister Sweetie Bell and the other two Cutie Mark Crusaders. While Vinyl did that, the other two mare's chatted away and Octavia gave her unicorn friend the big news...
"SWEET CELESTIA SHE DID?! WHEN IS IT WHEN IS IT TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME!" squealed Rarity as this almost sounded like she was about to explode in excitement over the news. Vinyl could hear the shrill squeaks of the Element of Generosity as she could tell exactly what she was excited about. Not too long ago......Vinyl Scratch had proposed to Octavia, making her a very happy mare. Despite this, it seemed that Octavia wasn't 100% into it.
"A year from today, it should give us plenty of time to prepare and get some of our personal things cut down at the same time" said Octavia after setting down the teacup "We're trying to find out where to have the wedding"
"Well when you two do decide, please let me know! I would absolutely love to make your and Viynl's dresses" cheered Rarity with a glowing expression "They'll be simply devine!" practically bouncing in her chair.She made a big splash making the dress for Princess Cadence at the royal wedding in Canterlot, it would be just as amazing if she got to get a dress for two well known ponies.
"I will, I suppose that its time for us to go. I haven't heard too much from Vinyl, who knows what she could be telling those impressionable fillies" Octavia said as she put down the fancy tea cup and walked to go and see if her Fiance was doing the worst she could possibly think of. Upstairs, Vinyl had already made some new friends in those excitable cutie mark crusaders. The three young fillies had asked the nightclub dj all about what it was like to make music and anything they could find out in the hopes of getting one step closer to their cutie marks.
"You mean like this?" said Sweetie Bell as she lifted herself on her front leg "Am I doing it?"
"Yeah, just like that, then lean forward, let go and then let your hooves do the rest!" the Nightclub DJ said with that usual grin on her face. The smaller unicorn did just that and had nearly done an entire 180 spin, only to fall flat on her face. Octavia let out a sigh of relief, maybe she really was letting all of her anxiety get the better of her. She regained her composure and walked into sweetie bell's room to see the two alabaster unicorns getting a good laugh out of what just happened.
"Vinyl.." she spoke out softly, getting her fiance's attention.
"Oh, Hey Octy, what's up?" said the Nightclub DJ, leaving the three younger fillies to try their hooves at the new break dancing move that was just shown to them.
"We need to get going, isn't it almost time for you to head on the train to your next show?" said the concert cellist as she had a slightly annoyed expression on her face, only Vinyl knew what that meant.
" *sigh* Well, I guess that's my que to exit stage left, sorry fillies" the nightclub DJ said faking a sad expression.
"She always says that to make me feel bad, but it won't work today" Octavia said to the cutie mark crusaders and waving a goodbye to her new little friends.
The two made their way out to the exit of the Carousel Boutique, the two mares getting a glimpse of Rarity using her magic to do the dishes with her headphones in humming away at her favorite tunes. Vinyl noticed something in particular about the fashionesta as she began to get into whatever song she was listening to and began to dance around a little bit. This caught both the mares off guard at the sight of the element of generosity shaking what her mama gave her...and to Vinyl, it was something quite amazing.
"Sweet Luna...check out that marshmallow"she muttered to herself as she leaned in slightly to check out Rarity's butt, but was met with a hoove to the head by her fiance.
"VIYNL!" she shouted, still not breaking Rarity from her getting into the groove. "Are you seriously doing that now? Ugh! I can't believe you sometimes" groaned Octavia, it was things like this that would always make her feel apprehensive about marrying Vinyl, she loved her very much yes and she wants to be married, but there were those times where the nightclub DJ would at times get a little too carried away with as Octavia sometimes puts it "Self expression in its most provocative form"
She let out a groan and the two of them walked out of the door to go straight to the train station to make sure Vinyl actually isn't too lazy to get on the train to go to her own show. When the two finally made it to the train station Octavia turned to Vinyl.
"Wait here, I'll go and get your ticket, and yes I know I know "I'll get ya later" spoke up the concert cellist with a sour look, more sour than the sour apples at sweet apple archers.
"Geez Octy, what's wrong? You know I'll pay you back" said Vinyl, the puckish grin on her face fading into a frown as soon as she saw her Fiance's nasty glare. That's when she knew she messed up pretty bad somehow. The concert cellist had gone and given her fiance the silent treatment and walked towards the ticket booth that was near a phone booth.
"Wait, why are you coming Octy? Don't you have another recital to go to or something?" asked Vinyl, confused as to why her love was coming along with her, With the grey mare saying nothing,she simply shrugged and thought nothing of it. She did enjoy when Octavia would come to one of her shows, it let her know that the mare she truly loves is supportive of what she does as a nightclub DJ. Originally from a not so fancy side of Canterlot, Vinyl had always loved what she did, Her passion for music was second to none. However, when on the rich side of Canterlot....things weren't so great. Vinyl had lost count of how many times that many of the pompous ponies would have her equipment destroyed right in front of her for being considered an eyesore by most of the high society ponies. There were even times that Vinyl ended up having to defend herself and Octavia multiple times from what alot of the pompous Canterlot elite send other ponies to do serious harm to Vinyl when Octavia went public with her and the alabaster unicorn's relationship. Enough was enough, and Vinyl was thankful that she had saved up enough money to move to Ponyville with Octavia so that alot of the horrible things of the past had been left behind. They would go back every now and again like today, mostly for show's and to see old friends to see how they were doing, but they wouldn't stay too long because of how bad that it tends to get there, despite being the pinnacle of Equestrias bright, wonderful, and vibrant history.
After the long and comfortable train ride, and getting to the special accommodations provided by the owner of the nightclub Pulse. The two marefriends had walked into the amazing luxury hotel room, the smell of vanilla hitting both of their muzzles. Next to the door as they walked in was the bathroom looking as white as Viynl's coat. In front of the bed was the small but nice looking flatscreen TV that next to it was a lovely gift basket that had lots of various wines, alcohols, and other tasty looking things neatly wrapped courtesy of the hotel. The two marefriends could appreciate
"Its amazing what you can do when you've got sweet ass connections in Canterlot huh Octy?" joked the nightclub Dj as she hopped onto the bed. She patted the pillow next to her and Octavia took off her saddlebags next to the nightstand and simply walked over to the bed and sat next to her love, letting out a sigh.
"What's wrong sweets?" spoke up Vinyl "Your woman's about to remind Canterlot why she's the best around....or maybe you're wanting a private show? We've got plenty of time" she added with her usual grin reaching a hoove for her loves flank she stared at behind those purple sunglasses but she moved away.
"Geez, what's up with you today? You haven't said a word since we left Rarity's place!" shouted the nightclub DJ, sitting upward. Octavia still said nothing and hopped off the bed.
"I'm going to take a shower, then go for a short walk around, I think Lyra and Derpy said they'd come later on or tomorrow" the concert cellist said with a stale expression on her face.
"You should concentrate on doing your show Vinyl, its important for those who've thrown their very souls into the embrace that is music.....even noise like yours" the grey mare said as she took off her favorite bowtie and walked into the bathroom and closed the door. Vinyl let out a sigh as she laid her head back after taking off her glasses, and slowly drifting off to sleep.
6:30 the clock read as Vinyl opened her gorgeous ruby red eyes to see that she only had about 45 minutes to get ready. Octavia would have woken her up well beforehand to tell her that she should be getting ready to go to her show....but she wasn't there. The alabaster unicorn figured she was still out on her little walk since it seemed like she was still mad at her.
"Dammit, why do I have have to be such an ass at times? I keep screwing up the best thing that happened to me...I wouldn't blame her if she dumps me" she thought running a hoove through her hair, she'd really have to find a way to apologize to Octavia somehow. She then picked up her phone and read:
"20 Unanswered Phone Calls"
"Damn, this could not get much worse" she muttered to herself as she went to the bathroom and washed her face, brushed her hair and headed out the hotel in a hurry.
"Dammit! I just had to say it didn't I uuugh?!" the nightclub Dj said as she ran out of the revolving door, making three other ponies go for a little spin. She didn't have to go too far since Club Pulse was about 15 minutes away from her and Octavias lavish accommodations. She barely made in time to meet two other ponies who seemed to be looking at her.
"It wasn't too much that you could have tried to call me first?" said Viynl's manager with an upset look on his face. "You're on in 10 minutes!"
"Yeah Yeah, don't get your undies in a bunch dude! I got this!" snorted the alabaster unicorn as she used her magic to put her shades on.
"Everything had better be ready, or no booze for you!" she shouted as she ran right out to get a good look at how the crowd was.
"Oooh! Im liking this already!" thought the Nightclub DJ as she strutted out to her already set turntables and began to speak into the microphone
"SUP EVERYPONY...YOU READY TO GET ALL HOT AND HEAVY TONIGHT?!" she shouted licking her lips seductively and taking a drink from a random unicorn stallion.
"Damn that's good..well, here goes" thought the nightclub DJ as she took out her discs and set them on her turntable and got started playing. In the back of her mind while the bright and colorful lights flickered and beamed from the stage lights or her horn, she was thinking about Octavia and how she had been acting towards her since they left the Carousel Boutique. She cringed a little how she must have made Octavia feel bad for many of the times that she must have been looking at other mares or stallions while on dates.
As she continued to spin the records and work her magic that made her a success as a DJ she didn't notice that at the far end of the bar that was crowded by many other ponies, Octavia Melody was talking with someone who, if you were looking, you couldn't excatly make out who it was, but whoever it was. It seemed like it was really important as Octavia had a devilish smile on her face as she whispered into the figure's ear.
"You'll get what's coming to you Vinyl Scratch...you will indeed" thought the concert cellist to herself as she looked on at a slightly distressed club DJ playing the crowd in her hooves
