Your world in my hand
What is a mortal compared to Cosmic God?
Load Full StoryIt was a peaceful day, the sun was shining brightly, the birds were singing and no troubles were on sight in the small town of Ponyville, yet in the crystal tree, one pony was bothered by the events of the past.
This pony was not normal however, she was Twilight Sparkle, the element of magic, former student of princess Celestia and now a proud Alicorn princess herself, yet these things did not trouble her mind right now. As Twilight watched through the window as her friends Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash headed towards the historical place of Griffonstone to fix the friendship problem that the crystal map had shown them, the events of few weeks ago kept coming back to her mind.
The incident with Tirek bothered her more than it should, as she was going over the events once again, more specifically the fact that Tirek had been able to steal the magic all living creatures held inside them, and yet Celestia, Luna and Cadance had all given her their power of magic, meaning the magic could be transferred or stolen from another being at any given moment.
So what else could be done with magic that did not involve the normal spell casting, like levitating or turning the color of objects? she had seen Discord warp the reality with his power, yet he never did anything serious with it, other than childish self-amusement, so what else could be done with it? Twilight had already started working on few theories about it, but now that she had free time while she waited her friends to solve the Friendship problem, she had the time to test those theories..
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Twilight called out for Spike, her pet assistant, who came running with few snacks (gems) in his hands, quickly eating them as Twilight instructed him to find the books about magic itself and anything he could find about spell creation, as well as several guides and safety books.
As Spike hurried through the castle library, Twilight retrieved a scroll and a ink, before writing down her initial thoughts and where she would start her research first. She had so many theories in mind, yet she decided to start with something simple, such as the ability to 'see' the magical fields that the living and non-living things held.
As Twilight continued to write her initial plans and list of supplies she would need, she also continued to add things for Spike to retrieve every time he delivered something. Constructing a new magical spell was time taking and often dangerous work, as even a slight mistake could result in either hilarious results or destructive explosions, depending on what kind of spell was being created and how the magic reacted to the mistake in question.
Taking a look at the small pile of books and supplies next to her, Twilight quickly wrote a letter for Princess Celestia in order to question of there existed spells similar to what she had in mind and to ask any advice and permission for creating them if they didn't already exist, before giving it to Spike, who sent it away in green flames. It only took few minutes for reply to come in, with Celestia informing her that most of the spells she had in mind had not been created, though she did give Twilight the permission to create such spells, if she was very careful.
Excited about the task ahead of her, Twilight started reading with earnest desire for the knowledge of the books, writing down the important things on the scrolls around her....
- Several hours later -
"Finally!" Twilight excitedly yelled as Spike raised his head from the comic book he was reading, having taken a break from running around getting things for Twilight, who had started muttering to herself as she wrote down furiously the spells several times, correcting the small mistakes here and there when she spotted that certain section didn't fit to do the job in the spell in question.
"The first spell is complete, I just need to test it and then I can continue with other spells. At this rate, I might get wing in Canterlot library after me for these important findings!" Twilight said excitedly as she quickly wrote a explanation of the spell and that she was planning to test it on the letter, before sending it to Celestia through Spike, who decided to not continue reading the comic before the answer came back, just in case.
It was only a moments later when the answer came thought, which could be shortened to few words, 'Sounds interesting, be careful and send the new spell over once tested'. While not exactly what Celestia said, that would be the shortened version of what Celestia replied, with Twilight jumping and squealing in excitement, before running outside and heading towards the empty field nearby, in order to test the spell in safe environment.
As Twilight started preparing for the spell, Spike quickly gathered Applejack, Rarity and Fluttershy to watch and support Twilight as she performed the first spell she ever created, just in case something did go wrong and they would need some help. Twilight took a deep breath to calm herself down, hearing her friends cheer up for her on the side. Turning her head and giving them a quick smile, she closed her eyes as started concentrating, feeling the magic rush around her head as she cast the spell.
Opening her eyes few moments later, Twilight gasped at the sight before her.
All of the things around her had different colored fields around them, pulsing in sync as a small trails of magic lead off them into other directions. Taking a look at herself, she could see the slight purple aura around her hooves as a small trail left her chest. Following where the trail went, she could see hundreds of thousands of similar tiny trails leading into the large black pillar in the distance. Giving it an odd look, Twilight too a look around as she spotted four more similar pillars around her in the far distance, though three of them were barely peeking at the horizon.
Suddenly, the sky went completely black, causing Twilight to take a look at the sky, where she couldn't see anything, sun, moon and the stars all missing "Hey, why is the sky black?" Twilight asked as the turned her head towards her friends, who gave her an odd look before taking a look at the sky.
"What are you talking about Twilight? The sky's normal blue, even the sun is shining. Are you sure you're okay?" Spike as Twilight closed her eyes for the moment, before opening them again and taking another look at the black sky.
"Yes i'm fine Spike, it's just... the..." Twilight stopped talking, her eyes widening at what she was seeing.
She couldn't describe the...THING... she was looking at, the horrible multiple glowing red eyes looking down... and the terrifying smile of the ABOMINATION that was staring down at the world....no, not the world......
As the horrifying realization came to her mind, the... MONSTROSITY... gave the most malicious smile at Twilight as she realized that ... IT.... wasn't looking at the world below.
It was looking right at her.
Twilight's screams could be heard from all the way to Canterlot, with Celestia soon receiving an message from Spike that Twilight needed some serious help, shaking and screaming in terror as she looked at the sky and yelled out about some abomination, a monster beyond imagination....
