Build me a daughter, O Goddess, who will be strong enough to know when she is weak, and brave enough to face herself when she is afraid, one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory. - Unknown

War... War never changes.

When balefire consumed the planet, those that survived did so in enormous underground Stables. Only years later did any surviving Stable open, its inhabitants spreading out across what was once known as "Equestria", forming tribes and civilizations.

One such faction which arose from the depressing wasteland was the NCR, or "New Canterlot Republic". It was a nation based on old world values, such as freedom, the use of bits, and democracy and inhabited by farmers, settlers, and protected by the troopers and rangers that serve it. Another faction was the quasi-religious technological Steel Rangers, which were basically remnants of an old Equestrian Millitary outfit of powered armored soldiers and scientists. Their goal was to find, maintain, and protect the technologies of the old world from those who would use it against others, such as the NCR...

This conflicted with the NCRs views and soon began a long and bloody war between the two, which was known as the The Dark Coast Campaign. And, although outgunned, under-equipped, and less experienced, the NCR reigned victorious, despite heavy casualties.

Soon though, the war spread further south when NCR scouts found a working ship in the harbor of New Oatleans. Steel Rangers were to quick respond and soon, New Oatleans became a battleground between the NCR and the Steel Rangers.... But, that was not the only thing the scouts found... A city... untouched by the nuclear wasteland and alive. Scouts came back with stories of streets guarded by mercenaries and robots, and casinos packed with gamblers. Stories of sin and a sense of order. This town? New Oatleans North.

And soon, rumors began to spread of a Stable in The Dark Coast. Stable 56, what is rumored to be a Stable not yet opened... Many have tried to enter this Stable once found but all have failed. Could there be water inside? Food? A weapons cache? Or is it alive? With ponies going on with their lives inside, oblivious to the troubles and bloodshed that await outside.... Who could say?

But one thing is for certain.... War.... War never changes.
