Perfect (A Fluttercord Story)
Ok, this is my first fimfiction, so please lower your criticism just a scosche! Thanks!
I remember how I loved causing chaos as a young draconequus. Chaos is fun, what can I say? I loved the feeling of being a puppet master,
pulling at the strings of other ponies.
One day, while I was up in a tree making it rain chocolate milk on two little fillies, a voice, very delicate and deep, almost made me jump out of
my skin.
"Why are you up here?"
I turned around, startled. There, sitting on the same branch as I, was the most beautiful pony I had ever seen, with a sleek white coat,
bright magenta eyes, and a lovely pink mane. I didn't want her and I to be on bad terms, so I put my hands behind my back and quickly
snapped my fingers to make my chocolate milk cloud vanish. "N-nothing,' I sputtered, my eyes wide. She looked at me closely. "You seem
lonely. Would you like to play with my sister, Luna, and I?"
"Sure," I said, a little too enthusiastically.
"Wonderful! My name's Celestia."
"I'm Discord."
We got to know each other better as we grew older, and became good friends. We would meet often in her garden, where she would tell
me about her studies in school. I remember how graceful she was, how it seemed like she never did anything wrong. I became so attached to
her that I stopped being chaotic for a while.
Everything was alright, until... she grew up. She was the princess after all, and had very important royal duties. We stopped seeing each
other so often, and grew less attached. I still thought that maybe I had a chance with her, and decided to not wreak havoc on her kingdom.
Our last meeting was the worst night of my life. I remember Celestia told me she could not see me anymore because she had become too
busy. I knew I had to take action before it was too late. I proceeded to tell her about my feelings for her, and offered her a rose. She looked at
me with a pained face.
"Discord.. I'm sorry... but I just couldn't be with you because- you're so.."
My face fell. "Because I'm so different."
Tears welled up in her eyes as she flew away.
It felt like I had been punched in the face. My one true love, lost forever.
To cover up my sadness, I retaliated, and as you know, was defeated and turned to stone.
But after quite a lot of waiting, I had a chance to escape.

My return to chaos was quite brief. It's kind of embarrassing, considering I was defeated... twice. I mostly taunted Celestia, whom to all I
felt was anger, and the six ponies who imprisoned me.
The one who really stood out to me, surprisingly, was Fluttershy. I remember how frightened she was, but I also remembered that she was a
tough nut to crack. I could not get her to abandon her element, Kindness. I realized she was actually the strongest pony in her element, the
only one who came close to fooling my plan.
When I was being reformed, I tried to hide my fear, because I knew she had a chance of reforming me, because of her strength in her
element. I did resist being reformed for a while, but I truly broke when Fluttershy called me her friend. It was true that I had never really had a
friend before, as I assumed Celestia was just trying to be nice and not hurt my feelings. I thought Fluttershy was genuine. She did remind me a
bit of Celestia with her light pink mane, though. I did try to shrug it off, but eventually my feelings got the best of me, and I gave up my evil
ways, despite of what happened years ago with Celestia.
I will admit I had feelings for Fluttershy, but not strongly enough to resist Tirek's offer. I only realized how much I cared for her when Tirek
betrayed me. I felt so alone. I had lost a true friend.
"We aren't worth it, Twilight!" I remember her saying when Tirek offered Twilight her friends for her magic.
"Oh, but you are, Fluttershy," I said.
And I meant it.

I remember when Fluttershy invited another friend to the Gala instead of me. I was disappointed, but for different reasons than usual. Yes,
I was jealous because I felt under appreciated, but I also was sort of hoping that she would ask me to the Gala as her... erm... date. Silly me.
That would never happen... but why not fantasize it anyway? I've got to dream big. I'd never guessed, but I do have very strong feelings for
Fluttershy. I guess it's the little things that make me have a crush on her. The way her pink hair falls over her eyes. The soothing way she talks
to me, her beautiful smile that makes her eyes twinkle.But as Celestia said long ago... I'm too different for anypony.
Fluttershy is just about perfect, while I'm a complete mess. We are just supposed to be friends, nothing more.
Anyway, after the Gala I sat with Fluttershy in the garden.
"Discord, I'm sorry I got so mad at you. I don't like getting angry, and..."
"You have nothing to be sorry for. I was being a jerk!"
"Well, I still feel bad."
"Nobody's perfect, Fluttershy. You're talking to a creature of disharmony."
"Oh, well, I don't think you're that bad."
"Thanks." I smiled at her.
Fluttershy smiled shyly, like she always does, and without warning softly kissed me on the cheek. She flew away to catch up with her friends,
now leaving the Gala. My cheeks hot, I stood there, grinning like an idiot.
It took me a while to realize it, but this is more than a crush. I'm in love.

When I was having a particularly nice dream set in Fluttershy's cottage, Princess Luna came by for a visit.
"Discord, I've been watching you closely. I can see you have feelings for Fluttershy."
"Wh- what? No I do not!"
"And I know how scared you are because of your past... I promise you that Fluttershy will understand. Celestia was foolish as a young mare not to look on the inside."
"How do you know how I feel?" I ask, eyeing Luna suspiciously.
Luna coughs and looks away. "It's sort of obvious you two have feelings for each other."
"Oh, well, I suppose, but what do I do?" I ask.
"Tell her how you feel!" Luna looks at me like a mother does a child.
I scoff. "Yeah, because that worked out well last time."
"Listen, Discord, the ones who care about your feelings are the ones who matter. Doesn't Fluttershy matter?"
I sigh. "Yes.."
"Well then, I trust you'll do the right thing." Luna flies away from my dreamscape.
I wake up, startled. What is the right thing?
I know for a fact she would never accept me as I am, no matter what Luna said. I wish I was just a normal pony sometimes, not a weird
draconequus like myself. I've always liked my chaos, but now it seems like an obstacle.
I weigh the outcomes in my mind. Be alone with my chaos forever, or have a chance with Fluttershy as a normal pony.

At the snap of my fingers, I turn myself into a normal pony and look in my bedroom mirror. I have a gray coat, a black mane, a blue horn,
and red eyes. Oh well, It's an improvement. I will just walk up to Fluttershy and introduce myself as... Donny. Yes, Donny, that will do. I
transport to Fluttershy's cottage and knock on her door. You know, it feels weird not having a claw or a paw. How do earth ponies hold things?
Fluttershy opens the door and smiles. "Hello! What's your name?"
"I'm Donny, I'm new to Ponyville and just wanted to get to know everyone!" I put on my best smile.
"Oh, well nice to meet you Donny. I'm Fluttershy."
She looks at me skeptically. "You look like someone I know."
"Well.." I start nervously.
"And you sound like him too! Goodness, you're like his pony twin! I've got to send him a letter about this!"
I cringe. I can't go back to being Discord, I just can't, not when I have a chance with Fluttershy.
"So, do you want to go on a picnic tomorrow in the park?"
"Why, sure! I'll invite my friend, Discord so you can meet each other. He makes delicious cucumber sandwiches!"
I guess Discord will be absent from the picnic.
I trot to the picnic site with a nice little picnic basket, where Fluttershy is already waiting for me.
She has a worried look on her face. "Oh dear, do you think Discord will show up?"
I try to pull off a genuine frown. "I suppose not."
Fluttershy looks down at her hooves.
"Oh, well. We better not spoil the food."
The picnic is a success afterwards, and we promise to meet again next week.
The next week comes, and Fluttershy is very upset about Discord not showing up a second time. "Oh, I do wish he would show up. He's my
best friend, and I.." she sighs. "Never mind."
I wonder what she would have said. Anyway, I make Fluttershy laugh, and we quickly become good friends, but she won't stop saying things
about Discord. She opens up to me a little more each time we have a get-together somewhere. Maybe my dream will become a reality.

Fluttershy told me she wants to invite me to a party at Sugarcube Corner.
I come, and to my surprise, Princess Celestia and Luna are here. Oh, no! Princess Luna will know! As I walk in with Fluttershy, Princess Luna
gives me a look, but nothing else. I decide to enjoy myself and relax. Nothing bad will happen. Although I feel empty. I miss not being able to
tell funny Discord stories or being able to create small acts of chaos in front of Fluttershy. That always made her laugh. I shake my head and
shrug off the thought.
The party is fun, as it always is as Pinkie Pie is planning it. The party goes late into the night, and Fluttershy and I walk outside. She sighs.
"Where is Discord? I've been sending him our daily letters and he hasn't responded in weeks!"
She gasps. "Do you think something bad happened to him? What if I said something that made him dislike me?"
Fluttershy then proceeds to cry. "And to think... I- I liked him."
My heart skips a beat. What? She liked me? Well, it's too late to reveal myself.
I clear my throat. "I sure hope nothing bad happened to him."
"Me too," Fluttershy says through tears. "You're a very good friend, Donny. Thanks for being there for me."
"And so have you. But... It might be time to move on, find somepony else."
She smiles. "Like you.. maybe." She blushes.
"Maybe."
I lean forward, and just before we kiss, I feel myself begin to grow taller. What's going on?
Then I see the Princesses in the bushes. They're changing me back!
Fluttershy only smiles. "I knew it was you."
"What?"
"Princess Luna told me everything at the party."
"LUNA!" I hear Celestia and Luna giggling.
"No... It's alright. I like you much better this way. I love you, and your chaos, Discord."
"Really? But... I'm a mess! You deserve perfection!"
She kisses me lightly.
"You're perfect to me."
And that's all that matters.
