6 months before

Rainbow was training, but not her flying tricks. She was training with the bow a little away from Sweet Apple Acres. She was in plain, today she want try ’spice things up’ and try fly while shooting arrows to dartboards (arrow boards). Dash was standing in front of 6 arrow boards suddenly Rainbow burst from her spot on speed that can compare Spitfire’s, while she was flying, she shot 6 arrows. She stopped in a blink and fly back to the arrow boards. 4 of got a hit, 2 right in the middle, third on top and last one, on the right. Dash smiles to herself and thought ’4 of 6, nice. When I’ll keep training, one day I’ll become best archer in Equestria. Awesome!’ and stand proudly. One title wasn’t enough for her. When she comes back home, she saw a somepony on her doorstep, or some-griffon. Gilda the griffon was standing right on the Rainbow’s doorstep. She was about to fly away when Dash calls her. "Hey, G! Long time, no see."

" ’sup Dash." said Gilda back when she spotted a bow on Rainbows back, "Is that a bow?"

"Sure it is! This thing is awesome! Try it." said Rainbow offering her bow.

"Sorry Dash, I don’t like these things, you know, if I think about it, I d-" she has been interrupted by a Pink flash.

"Hi, Dashie! Wanna hang out?" said the voice of Pinkie Pie, then she noticed a griffon standing beside her and quickly ask, "Who are you? You are new, aren’t you? Of course you are! I know everypony in Ponyville and I never ever saw a griffon in our village. Welcome! I am Pinkie Pie. What’s your name?" said with offering hoof.

Griffon only stares on Pinkie with dumbstruck, ’How can she stand on clouds? She isn’t a pegasus or griffon...’ Gilda thought and asks, "How can you stand on clouds?"

"Magic, duh! Cloudwalking spell for me from Twilight and answer my question! “ demanded Pinkie as she started to think about the cake she gonna make for the welcoming party for griffon.

"Gilda." said griffon slowly and turn her head on Rainbow, "Coming Rainbow?"

"Where?" asks pegasus simply. Griffon’s look told everything, "Pinkie come here," Pinkie skiped beside Rainbow, "Go make the Gilda welcoming party, she needs it." whispered in Pinkie’s ear.

"Great idea!" Shout Pinkie jumping to her balloon and flies down.

"Is she always like that?" asks Gilda Rainbow.

"Yes, but she means well. And her randomizes? We explain it with 4 words, Pinkie is being Pinkie." said pegasus with a giggle. "And she likes making new friends."

"Hmmm... Friends you say? I dunno, she seems hyper..."

"Like I said, Pinkie is being Pinkie." reply Rainbow, "Come in." invited Rainbow.

"Nice place, but what is this?" Gila said, pointing at a huge paper on the wall with something write on it.

"Oh, that? That is my list where I write every animal that I catch." Reply Dash with a smile.

"Catch? How and what do you do when you catch it?" asks Gilda.

"How? I use traps, I have caught many animals as you can see and trap is the most efficient technique for catch animal. And for Second question, I write how it looks and some stuff about it, then i let it go. I came after Fluttershy and ask her what animal it is, then go back home and write it here, it’s some kind of hobby." reply Dash with a grin. Gilda was in stare shock, Rainbow catches animals? How long I was out?... Wait traps? she thought.

"Ummm... Gilda?" asks Rainbow with a worry sign on her face.

Gilda recovered from her shock, "Show me! Show me some traps!" demanded from Rainbow.

Dash simply stared at griffon. A Moment later says, "Okay Gilda, but don’t use them on Ponies and don’t do it differently, you don’t wanna hurt animal, do you?"

"Of course not Dash! Why?"

"You know, if you refine these traps, they can hurt or worse... So please, promise me one thing, don’t improve any of these traps..."

"Yeah, yeah, I promise. Now show me!" Gilda demented again.

"Ok, here we go..."

Later that day.

Angry pegasus in front of a Sugarcube Corner was shouting at her griffon friend. "Darn it Gilda! What I told you about traps!"

"Don’t improve them, but come on, it was just a harmless prank." said Gilda.

"That, what you call ’harmless prank’ nearly killed Angel!" shot Rainbow back.

"Okay, okay, I guess, I little over did it, but rabbit is okay!" said griffon trying avoid talking about damage what she did.

"Okay? Okay?! Darn it Gilda! Angel has broken both legs, plus you give that rabbit fright from griffons for the rest of life. You know how long I was converting Fluttershy for what you did?" said angry pegasus. Gilda remained quiet, then Rainbow asked again, "Well, do you?!"

"No, Dash, I don’t." said Gilda, she seems hurt.

"Long and I don’t know if she is okay, she doesn’t want to talk with me..." Rainbow said lowering her voice down. "Gilda, please, go away and come back when I’ll be ok..."

"Dash, I’ll go, but I don’t know if we’ll meet again."

"Go! Just go..." said Dash ignoring her. Then Gilda spread her wings and took off. After that Rainbow was feeling low, so low.

On the same time in different place.

"You can’t be serious Lulu..." said Celestia to her sister.

"This is the only way! We must do it! Show them what we are made of!" reply back Luna.

"This is maddens! I will not allow this!"

"This is for the greater good! Don’t you see? Better sacrifice 6 ponies than lead pony-kind to war."

"If we show them compassion they w-"

"They are griffons for Faust sake! They will not listen to you. You are not that naive, are you?" Luna interrupted Celestia.

"Lulu...."

"Do it Celly, for greater good." require Luna from Celestia.

Celestia sigh in defeat, pulled off a Paper and start writing.

Present

"What is going on?" asked Twilight Sparkle a one of a guard.

"Got your team beside you earth pony and pegasus?" reply guard ignoring Twilight question. Twilight simply nodded. "Register your team here." said guard.

Twilight sighs and start writing 3 names, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkamina Diane Pie, Fluttershy.

"You got number 42." said guard and give Twilight a ticket. "Next!" shout the guard.

Next was Rarity, she seems timid. She has no idea what is going on, like Twilight.

"Got your team unicorn, earth pony and pegasus?" asks guard Rarity.

"Y-yes?" said Rarity

"Register your team here." point at a paper on the desk. Rarity writes down 3 names, Rarity Belle, Rainbow Dash, Applejack.
Then guard pull off a ticket with number 14, give it to Rarity and shout again. "Next!"

Friends reunited. Rainbow asked first. "What is going on here?"

Nopony have an answer to that question. Twilight sighs again and said, "I don’t know, but I heard, they need 6 ponies, and they will first ask for some volunteers, when they don’t find anyone they will choose randomly."

"Maybe it is for some kind of party, and only 6 can go!" said Pinkie with a grin.

"Ah don’t know, but Ah don’t think it will be for some kind of party. Ah know these, this will be for some bad stuff." said Applejack low.

"I think Applejack is right, I hardly think it will be for the party, but when they choose any of us, another team will enter willingly, okay?" asked Twilight.

"I never leave friends hanging. Twi, I am in!" said Rainbow.

Others simply nodded. Twilight smiles and with friends, go to the theater.

A pony on theater starts, "Welcome! Maybe some ones of you don’t know, but today we are gonna choose 6 of you to play on Hunger games!"

With last 2 words Twilight’s eyes expand. ’Hunger games?! Oh no, Ohno Ohno Ohno! This is some kind of prank! Celestia cannot allow this!’ she thought and start panicking.

"Okay! Without other words, let’s draw!" said Theater-guy.

Meanwhile, Twilight explain to her friends what Hunger games are. Everypony seems horrified.

Rainbow is first to ask, "Are you sure Twilight...?"

"Yes Rainbow! But I don’t know why? Ponies weren’t in these games for ages!"

"173!" Shout Theater-guy. Applejack’s, Rainbow’s and Rarity’s eyes were full of horror, from crowd ascend 3 fillies, known as a cutie mark crusaders.

Immediately Applejack, Dash and Rarity in common said. "Wait!" then Dash fled from the crowd to the theater and said, "We are going instead of them."

Then Twilight said, "We are going to!" Theater-guy was surprised.

"Alright. It’s selected! These 6 mares go!" then whisper turn away from the crowd, pull off a list with signed ponies and say aloud, "Team 14, unicorn Rarity Belle, pegasus Rainbow Dash, earth pony Applejack and team 42, unicorn Twilight Sparkle, pegasus Fluttershy and earth pony Pinkamina Diane Pie are selected to play 26 class of Hunger games!"

Behind the crowd was Celestia with Luna beside, Celestia whispered weakly, "No..."

At that moment, Luna realizes what she has done. 6 mares, which saved her, are now going to death. She hung her head in shame and snob escape her lips. She is going to lose 6 mares that saved her. They are going to die in the battlefield of Hunger games and all because of her. She was feeling so low...

Now, she is regretting her decision.

Second chapter is out. [Phef] It’s really hard these days write fictions. I don’t have enought time, but I’ll never go back on my word: every weekend, 1 chapter. I’ll not give up!
