Twilight couldn't believe what she was reading,

My Dearest Twilight, Twilight blushed slightly at the thought of Celestia calling her dear.

Please come to the Castle at Canterlot as soon as you are able. come alone, Do not bring anyone or anything with you.  not even Spike.  Luna and I have a grave matter to discuss with you and it is Imperative that you arrive post haste.  There are some people that need to meet with you. Twilight looked at that word "People with a bit of Confusion.  That term was not one that she was familiar with.  There is no time for a train so you will need to fly.  I certainly hope that you have been paying attention to Rainbow Dash's lessons when it comes to extended Flights.  I hope to see you soon.

Twilight couldn't remember when she had ever received a letter that held this kind of Importance.  She fought against her nature to pack a heavy saddle bag with books and quills.  She needed to leave now.  Although first thing was first.  She needed to drop Spike off at somepony's house first to look after him while she was gone.  She Looked up at Spike, his face was concerned. "What did the Letter say Twilight?"  She smiled back at her little assistant is an almost motherly fashion. "It's ok Spike, I just need to take a trip to Canterlot for a bit"  Spike's eyes grew at that and Immediately when to grab Twilight's bag as he had so many times before. "Wait Spike you don't need to do that, I don't have time for a bag.  I am going to Drop you off at Rarity's home for a few days but we have to leave now"  Spikes eyes grew at the mention of the love of his life.  Twilight knew that by offering to have him stay with Rarity he would leave the matter alone and be happy for the opportunity to stay with her.

Ten minutes latter they stood in the show room of Rarities boutique.  "Rarity I know this is last minute but would you be able to look after spike for a few days?"  Rarity looked at Twilight with a bit of Confusion and her eyes darted to Spike.  Had grown quite a bit in the last few years and now stood a head taller than Rarity at this point.

"I would love to look after my little Spikey Wikekey."  Spikes cheeks blushed and Twilight knew that she was fine to leave him here.

"Thank you so much Rarity.  I should only be gone for a few days at the most this is a huge help." Twilight turned to spike. "Now spike do everything she tells you and please be as much of a help as possible.  I will be back in a few days and I might be able to let you know what this is all about. But I have to leave now"  She gave him a quick hug and Zipped into the sky toward Canterlot.

Rarity walked up to stand next to Spike and whispered "Does she know about us?"  Spike blushed and responded

"No I don't think she does,  I don't think she would have had me stay with you if she did"  Rarity smiled in a sultry way.

"Well then I guess we get to have a few uninterrupted days together"  Rarity then pushed Spike into the Boutique, closed the door and flipped the open sign to closed.

Twilight flew faster then she have ever done before. Her mind working at a million miles per minute.  What could Celestia and Luna want with her.  Had she done something beyond her station, was she in trouble, was there something that they needed her to do.  While her mind flew through the possibilities she almost flew directly into her sister in law.  Cadence shouted to her to get her attention

"TWILIGHT....TWILIGHT......HELLO TWILIGHT"  Twilight snapped out of her stupor and and her eyes found her pink sister in law.

"Cadence?  what are you doing here?"

Cadence Smiled and responded "I would imagine doing the same thing as you.  Going to Canterlot to speak with Celestia and Luna."  She smiled.  Twilight looked at her and asked

"Do you know whom it is that I am supposed to be meeting?"  Cadence looked back at her and with a Sigh responded

"Yes I know whom it is that you will be meeting, however I can't tell you.  That is for Celestia and Luna to say, not me." Twilight's curiosity was exploding at this point but she knew that she wasn't going to get anything out of Cadence,  The mare had kept that she and her brother were a couple for years and only let her know after the wedding was planned.

They continued their flight to Canterlot talking about how things had been going with there respective responsibility and areas of domain.  Twilight was distracted from here curiosity for a few minutes until they landed at the front gate of the Canterlot Castle.   The guard ushered them inside and directed them to the Throne room where Celestia and Luna sat.  upon entering the throne room the doors were shut and bolted from the inside by Celestia's magic.

"Twilight, Cadence,  I am so happy to see that you arrived with haste.  Had no trouble on the way here i expect."  It was a statement not a question.  Twilight immediately burst

"I came as fast as I could Princess,  What happened, did I do something wrong?. is there something that you need my help with?. Is Equestria in danger again."  she continued on in this manner for another Thirty seconds before anypony was able to calm her down.  Celestia smiled down at her and simply said

"No my dear Twilight there is nothing wrong and you have been fulfilling your Duties admirably.  The reason that I have called you here today is for a different matter, As Cadence is well aware.  Tell me twilight how much history do you know.  Specifically how much do you know about  the time before ponies."

Twilight looked at Celestia with Confusion on her face "Before Ponies princess?"  Celestia smiled

"How many times will I need to remind you Twilight that you do not need to address me as Princess,  We are equals now.  and I figured you wouldn't know much about the time before poines.   Few do, and the few that do know tend to keep what they know to themselves."  Celestia gave Twilight a smile and continued "Ponies have not always been the Dominate Species on this world.  Eons ago there was an other ruling species." Twilight's eyes bulged out and Celestia could see that little filly that she had spent so many years training again.  "Yes I know that this is a bit of a stretch to think about,

I had better start from..." Celestia paused and lost herself in deep thought.  Twilight with confusion and concern asked.

"Are you alright C.. Celestia"  she stumbled on the informal greeting as she had so many times in the past.  Celestia shook herself

"Oh yes I am fine Twilight,  I was just trying to think of the best term,  how can you disciple the beginning of something that has no beginning?"  Twilight looked like she was about to explode with questions so Celestia continued to before she could start. " Well I guess I will state at the point where the major decisions were beginning to be made.

'In the time before time there were only two beings, Nyx the goddess of darkness, and Lux the god of light. they have existed always.  they have no beginning and as such have no end.  at some point Eons ago, Lux grew discontented with his lot in existence.  his was a realm of never ending light,  but he had nothing else. his realm was a void of pure whiteness, no substance.  Nyx was in a similar realm, her's was a realm of darkness,  an empty void of darkness.  however she was content with her lot.  of course you cannot see in the darkness so it mattered not to here that there was no substance.  Lux Approached Nyx with a plan,  He wanted to create something to put substance in their realms.  His was mostly a selfish want.  He wanted to fill his realm with things to look upon while bathed in his never ending light.  However he could not do this alone. Lux needed to have the conflicting power of Nyx to accomplish his goal.  They fought for eons about this,  Nyx not wanting to change things and Lux wanting to create.  After an immeasurable length of time, Nyx relented, they drew up plans to create all that is and would ever be.  Part of the agreement that Nyx would help is that Lux would have to limit his light to come from set directions so as to create shadows,  he would also have to have limits as to when his light could be seen.  This had become a constant battle between the too and inadvertently the chaos of their there arguments brought into being something that was made of pure chaos and discord.  but we will come back to him.  After all the decisions had been made and all the plans laid, the creations of all things began.  Lux created the sun and the stars, Nyx created the void that they are held in.  next came the planets that float though the empty space that fills the void.  and on this planet they created life.  everything from the fish in the sea to the birds in the sky to the ponies on the land.  But we were not their first creations of sentient life my dear Twilight.  For before we ponies came to inherit the earth there was
