Origins

She felt as if her eyes were going to fall out of here head with how wide they were are that point.  What in the world was 'Man' and why had she never heard of them before? How in all of her exhaustive research had she missed something as important as this?

Celestia smiled as she looked down at her one time pupil remembering all the years of teaching the little filly.  Her never ending questions and bright eyes, always filled with wonder. "At this point Twilight I can imagine that you are filled to bursting with questions about what I have just reviled to you.  Very few ponies know about this and half of those that do are in this room."

Luna, whom up to this point had been silent spoke up "Yes sister," her gaze fell upon Twilight "The truths that we share with you over the next few days are closely guarded secrets,  the likes of such have only been shared with Five living beings.  I myself was not around for the earliest part, but I know that my sister will tell the truth of the time."

Twilight could hardly believe what she was hearing, there was a time eons ago when the world was not ruled by ponies. and only 6 ponies know about it in all of existence,  and now she was about to become the 7th as long as you didn't count Discord.  At this point she was sure that she now fully understood Pikie's favorite term of nervouscited.

Celestia looked at her and waited for what she knew would come next, The barrage of questions.  Twilight had however learned more patience that the last time that Celestia had given her an intellectual lecture. and as such the questions did not come.  Celestia smiled "My dear Twilight you need not hold yourself back from asking the questions that I know that you are so desperate to ask, One of the reasons that I asked you to come to Canterlot so soon is because I had anticipated going over the full matter of the information that I am going to give you,  our Visitors will not be here for Three days time.  This should give us adequate time to cover the basics of what I am going to share with you.  Your thirst for knowledge is one of the Major reasons that I chose you as my Faithful student."

Twilight blushed and asked"Well I guess to start what is a Man?"  Celestia closed the curtains and darkened the throne room while casing a conjuration to bring a Projector screen in as well.  Twilight marveled at how smoothly Celestia cast the spells and her skill level of magic.  Celestia projected an image of a Bipedal being onto the screen.  Twilight looked at it an instantly thought of some kind of ape.  At least it kind of looked like an Ape.

"This Twilight, is a man,  at least a very generalized version.  This is the male version as is quite obvious by the... um lower bits,  and this, is the female version" a second form appeared on the screen.  Twilight was struck to see how similar the images were to the ponies that roamed around Equestria now, and pointed this out.  Celestia smiled and explained "That is a very astute observation.  Yes the 'Humans' as they called themselves were very close to how we appear today.  you will notice that they do have some major differences mainly in the facial structure as well as the for the males in the reproductive organ.  they also lack tails. As well as the fact that they all looked similar to this,  none of them had horns or wings.  they could not use magic.  although many of them pretended to use it.  It is believed that at one point they could, to some degree use the arcane arts but lost the ability with time." Glancing over Celestia could tell that Twilight was taking in everything like a sponge.

"Now humans ruled over the world for several thousand years.  They made huge advances in Science, they had even discovered a way to halt death.  Short of being murdered,  and they were close to leaving this planet and going out to colonize other worlds.  For Humans time was measured in Ages, Such as the Stone age, the Bronze age, the Iron Age, The Dark Ages, and so on.  Every chapter of the history of humans was measured as such.  However even though the Humans were immensely powerful. they also were heavily driven by Greed and self gratification.  War, Famine, Slavery, Cruelty and all manner of horrors were committed by the beings know as man.  They fought and killed one another by the millions over practically anything.  Food, Pride, Love, Hatred, land, Personal Believes.  The list goes on.  only in the humans last days had they banded together to create, and work to preserve life. They only did this due to the destruction that they had caused.

Luna added at this point "They had ruined the planet,  It could barely sustain the most basic of life,  And for the humans they were forced to create the technologies that kept them alive.  They had place all of their remaining populations in Great domed cities that kept them separated from the deadly conditions that they had left the outside world in.

Celestia nodded and continued "Yes,  they only banded together in the end times.  But in doing so they had successfully saved their people.  The race as a whole would have survived... that is, until something happened."  Celestia and Luna locked eyes and looked down at Twilight.  "Lux and Nyx, after eons of observing man,  as a sentient life form, discovered emotions."

Twilight looked back at Celestia and Luna and quietly asked. "What happened next?

A grimace spread across Celestia's face as she responded. "Lux and Nyx fell in love... and with that they also came to know all other emotions that mortals know.  Beyond Love they learned, Hate, Lust, Happiness, Sadness, Rage, as well as every other emotion it is possible to know.  After countless eons of time, The creators of all learned the one thing that they had never known before.  And with there love they came together to create life that was made entirely from them.  Something that was a part of them, yet at the same time separate from them as well.

Thoughts and guesses raced through Twilight's mind as she contemplated what it could possibly have been that they had created.  Had it been some kind of new god,  was it a monster, could it have been something that had destroyed the old world.  Twilight looked back toward Celestia and asked "what was it that they created?"

"Now Twilight I am a little hurt that you didn't realize what it was they created,  I would have thought you of all ponies would have been able to figure it out."

Twilight's heart fell at the thought of her teacher having been disappointed in her.   she lowered her head to stare at the ground.

"Dear sister, do not let the poor girl suffer and just tell her.  After all you were her Teacher, and you are now teaching her a new subject, she can't be expected to know everything with out at least being told the answer at least once."

Celestia laughed and responded "I know Luna but every now and then she makes the cutest face when she thinks that I was disappointed even though she should know at this point I was just teasing."  she stepped forward and lifted Twilight's head to look her in the eyes "The product of the love that blossomed between Lux and Nyx stands before you now."

Twilight's Jaw dropped as this bombshell was dropped.  Celestia, her Teacher, The ruler over all of Equestria,  The one pony that knew almost every secrete that she had ever had.  Was the Daughter of the gods that had created... well everything. "Oh... well that is... um.... neat."
