Rainbow Dash stretched out her wings, as she yawned. She sat upwards in her cloud-bed, looking out the window a slight grin. Today was April 2nd, otherwise known as Opposite Day in Ponyville. Besides April Fools, Opposite Day was Rainbow's favorite holiday, mainly because of the loopholes that came with it. She grinned, this year would be epic.
Stepping out of her bed, she removed her Tank-faced slippers and throw off her robe. Not bothering to even glance at her bathroom, she flew out of the cloud-house.
No Time for Hygiene if I want to make this Opposite Day the best yet!
Landing in front of Sugarcube Corner, Rainbow Dash looked around for a slight moment. Strangely, nopony could be found, and all the houses looked abandoned. Shrugging it off, Rainbow opened the door to the bakery, hearing a bell tingle as she entered.
What she had expected to see was Pinkie Pie, either working the register or just being her Pinkie self. No. What she saw was much more different.
Pinkie Pie sat sadly in the middle of the room, playing around with a small pebble dressed up with googly eyes. Her poofy mane and tail was flat and her expression was, depressed. Rainbow stared at Pinkie, her jaw hanged. It took what felt like eternity before Pinkie Pie noticed the rainbow-mane mare standing there.
"Wait a minute, Jake," Pinkie whispered to the rock, almost as if it could hear her.
"Welcome to Sugarcube Corner..," Pinkie smiled weakly before standing up to go behind the register. She put on an apron that was hung on a lamp inside of the kitchen. "What would you like today, Miss?,".
Rainbow Dash still stood frozen in shock at the pink mare, she hadn't even realized Pinkie had talked to her.
"Miss?," Pinkie Pie said.
Rainbow snapped back into reality, to look at the pink mare. Staring at her for a few seconds, before bursting out in laughter.
"Oh Pinkie Pie, you really got me there!," Rainbow Dash hit her knees from the so-called joke, leaving Pinkie Pie with a confused expression.
"Umm, My name is Pinkamena, Miss," -Pinkie pointed to the name tag on her apron-," And how do you know my last name?,".
Rainbow looked at 'Pinkamena' with an annoyed expression. Whatever prank Pinkie Pie had set up had gone on for to long, it was making the cyan-mare look like a fool.
"Pinkie Pie, not funny," Rainbow Dash's muzzle was literally in the apprentice's face, before she began to burst into tears.
"I-I'm s-sorry miss!," Pinkie sobbed. Rainbow looked at her with an expression that could burn the skin of an onion.
"Pinkie Pie! Stop acting like such a-",
"That will be enough,".
Mrs. Cake's voice echoed through out the staircase. Instead of it's usual calm and sweet tone, it was full of coldness.
"Leave Pinkamena alone, before I call the police!," Mrs. Cake sternly scolded.
Rushing over to the pink mare, she comforted her. Pinkie stopped sobbing and began to sniffle.
"It's okay Mrs. Cake, maybe she took me for somebody else," Pinkamena said.
The plump mare only nodded before looking coldly at Rainbow Dash again.
"Sorry Pinkamena,".
"It's okay, miss,".
Rainbow Dash headed towards the exit, before getting stopped again by Pinkie Pie.
"Wait, miss!,".
Rainbow turned her head.
"Would you like some breakfast?,"
"No Thanks," Rainbow Dash replied, clearly irritated, before flying out of the bakery.
"I can't believe Pinkie Pie was crying!," Rainbow Dash still couldn't get it out of her mind. Maybe everyone was just doing this to get back at her for previous Opposite Day. Yea, this was it. If it was, she could take it.
Flying to Fluttershy's cottage, she heard the sound of a loud scream. From the sound of it, it sounded like Rarity.
"Rarity, Fluttershy!,"Rainbow screamed.
She flew inside to find the two girls fighting. Fluttershy's mane was somehow shorter and Rarity's was decorated with loose ends.
"What are you doing in here?!," Fluttershy grunted, raising a hoof at Rainbow. Rarity scowled at the cyan mare, almost frightening her.
"I just wanted to help you," Rainbow Dash argued, Rarity and Fluttershy not amused.
"I should call the cops," Rarity said, levitating a cell phone.
"No Thanks! Sheesh!,".
"What would we need help with in the first place?," Fluttershy groaned at the cyan mare.
"Well it sounded like you 2 were in trouble,".
"Why would we need help from a random stranger that barged into my house?!,".
"I actually don't know," Rainbow grinned shyly.
Just that moment, the 2 mares began to throw furniture at Rainbow Dash. The pegusas tried to dodge them, but failing miserably.
Rainbow Dash flew out of the cottage, almost grateful to be alive. What was with her friends, today?
Flying over to Twilight's, she knocked on the door cautiously. Maybe Twilight wasn't affected by today like everyone else, after all, she didn't really enjoy pranks.
Twilight opened the door, a grin wide on her face," Hey dude," Twilight chuckled, she drank some beer.
Rainbow stood, jaw dropped again, was Twilight drinking and did she call her dude?!
"Me and Apple*hic* were about to go out to the bar, sorry," Twilight pointed to Applejack, she was seated on a beanbag chair, also drinking. The farm-mare managed a wave before hiccupping along side her companion.
"When did you ever go bar?!," Rainbow Dash shouted.
"Dude, not cool," Applejack peeped.
Rainbow Dash looked angrily at her friends, she had never felt this much rage in her life. First, Pinkie Pie crying because of her, then Fluttershy and Rarity almost killing her, and now AJ and Twilight acting like their high.
"Ok..See you," Rainbow Dash stormed off to her house. This was terrible. Her friends were acting like drug-addicts. All except for Pinkie Pie, and she is acting like she is in a deep depression. Had opposite day taken a toll on them that bad?
I. Of Course It's Discord..
Rainbow Dash flew into Sugar Cube Corner, leaving her signature rainbow trail behind. Trying hard to forget about earlier was beginning to feel near impossible for the pegusas, yet she didn't want to ignore it either. She still didn't know why she had walked in her in the first place, possibly hope that Pinkie Pie had forgotten, unlike her. Flying carefully to the register of the small bakery, she was greeted once again by Pinkie.
"Welcome back, Miss". Pinkie Pie forced a smile.
Rainbow Dash could tell by her expression that she was ready to call for her boss if any trouble occurred. Deciding to take this as a warning, she replied Pinkie Pie with a calm tone.
"Hey Pinks,".
Rainbow froze in terror, she had forgotten about the whole 'Pinkamena' conversation, hadn't she?
"Pinks? What a peculiar nickname,". the apprentice said, surprisingly not offended.
"It's what I always call you,". Rainbow Dash replied, so low that Pinkie couldn't hear her.
"What was that?," the pink mare questioned.
"Nothing," Rainbow Dash said.
Suddenly, the two mates conversation was interrupted by the sound of pots, coming from the kitchen. Pinkie turned back into the kitchen to meet eyes with her bosses. Both with serious looks on their faces. Rainbow Dash almost felt sorry for Pinkie as they sternly scolded her.
"Pinkamena! Are you talking to a customer?," Mr. Cake asked. Pinkie only scooted backwards in reply.
"The same as always, thinking she can get friends by talking with OUR customers," Mrs. Cake told her husband. It was almost like that protective mother-like mare from earlier was only a mask on the plump pony.
Rainbow Dash could only listen silently, not wanting to worsen the problem.
"Well I think Pinkamena needs to just stick to her rock friends, shouldn't she, Hun?," the lean stallion asked his wife.
Mrs. Cake nodded, walking into the kitchen angrily, leaving only Mr. Cake and the 2 mares behind
"I think that a month's paycheck should be punishment a lot," Mr. Cake scolded. "And speak up when we talk to you,".
"Yes Mr. Cake," Pinkie cried, slipping on a puddle of spilled milk from earlier on.
Mr. Cake followed his wife into the kitchen, leaving a teary Pinkie Pie and a confused Rainbow Dash at the register.
"Are you okay, Pinks," Rainbow asked the crying mare.
Pinkie stood up slowly, wiping her tears with her apron before responding to Rainbow Dash.
"What would you like to order?,".
Rainbow Dash flew over Ponyville, holding her doughnuts from Sugar Cube Corner in her mouth. It was almost noon and Rainbow hadn't done anything she had planned to do that day. Looking back onto her lists of pranks, she threw it at the ground carelessly. There was no point of using it now.
"Oww!"
Rainbow Dash flew down to realize she had hit Derpy Hooves with her list.
"Sorry Derpy, you want a doughnut?" Rainbow said to the blonde mare.
"Watch were your going, you clumsy baboon" Derpy scolded the pegusas before flying off to her destination.
Rainbow waved a hoof furiously at Derpy before flying back upwards into the sky.
Every pony in town was acting crazy, it was almost like everyone in town was in on this prank.
"Maybe they aren't".
That voice. Rainbow Dash turned back to look at Discord, hovering above her. She scowled at his presence.
"So it was you, Discord" Rainbow Dash shouted. Discord only chuckled in response.
"Oh Rainbow Dash, that's not how Opposite Day goes" Discord grinned," You should be saying 'So it wasn't you Discord'".
"Forget Opposite Day!"
"Well that wouldn't be fun"
"What did you do to every pony?!"
"Well.."
Discord snapped his fingers, making a chalkboard appear out of nowhere. He began to draw Rainbow Dash and her friends, also drawing himself alongside them.
"Well yesterday, it was April Fools, so I thought to myself, why don't I do the best prank all of Equestria has ever seen," Discord gloated.
Rainbow stared, unamused.
"So then I remembered how with those Elements of ours, that you would of course try to stop me,".
"Of course we would..."
"So then I pondered in my thinking tree and I thought to myself, 'Discord, why don't you make sure that those pony friends of ours can't stop you'. And so, since today is Opposite Day, I turned everypony in Ponyville into the opposite of themselves".
"Why would you do that?!" Rainbow grunted.
"Well Rainbow Dash, think about it, if Pinkie Pie doesn't laugh, how could she be the Element of laughter?"
Rainbow stared at Discord angrily, not disturbing him one bit.
"And if Fluttershy was mean, how could she be kindness?"
"She can't..."
"That's using your noggin," Discord laughed, knocking Rainbow's head humorously.
The cyan mare groaned in reply.
"Well Rainbow Dash, I need to get started on my project that will blow half of Equestria off the map!" Discord said, snapping away the blackboard and replacing it with a brown suitcase, decorated with stickers.
"And remember, Happy Opposite Week," Discord grinned, snapping away.
"The Elements of what-now?" Rarity scoffed at Rainbow Dash.
It was extremely difficult getting all of the element bearers to the castle. Forget getting there, convincing Twilight to use it was the worse part. She had to tell Twilight that she was the princess of Friendship and convince the others the same concept. Especially trying to tell Fluttershy and Rarity, it was like trying to tame wild lions.
"The Elements of Harmony" Rainbow Dash grinned at her friends, pointing to the glass jar in the center of their table.
"Your saying that us 6 are best friends?" Fluttershy grimaced.
"Yep"
"And that we each hold elements of a ancient artifact?" Twilight asked.
"Yep".
"Ah' don't believe ya'", Applejack said.
"What about you Pinks" Rainbow asked the mare.
Pinkie peeped quietly, she had been busy playing with her rock and wasn't paying attention at all. She sank in her chair.
"Umm..okay" Rainbow groaned in reply, she still wasn't used to Pinkie like that yet.
"Well I think that this is a bunch of phoey" Fluttershy banged her hoof on the table.
"Same here" AJ added.
AJ stood up and walked out the door, followed by Rarity and Fluttershy, then Pinkie.
"Aren't you gonna leave?" Rainbow Dash asked Twilight sadly.
"Dude, this is my house" Twilight said, levitating the pegusas out of the castle, and banging the door behind her.
Rainbow Dash sighed as she flew up into the air.
"Forget about saving Equestria.. I just want my friends back" Rainbow frowned, flying up to her house in Cloudsdale.
Laying down on her bed, she snuggled with Tank.
"Oh Tank, How am I going to convince them now.." Rainbow groaned.
The tortoise looked at the pegusas with a heartwarming expression, almost as if he was telling her 'Don't Give Up'.
"Oh Tank" Rainbow Dash smiled as she flew upwards into the sky.
"Your right Tank! I'm going to get my friends back!".
The pegusas flew out the window, heading towards Twilight's house, she wasn't gonna give up this easily
