Set before the events of Friendship is Magic

First few chapters will be short due to the nature of building character, so expect that early readers.

A story Twilight doesn't like to share with anypony, given how embarrassing the situation would be for her if she's told any one of her friends about this excerpt in her awkward late teenage years leading up to the events of Friendship is Magic.

With Shining Armor on deployment, parents out of town, and Cadence taking care of princess duties, Twilight is comfortably enjoying her oasis of solitude, much to the disdain to her mentor, princess, and pretty much everything else, Princess Celestia.

To solve this dislike for her student being alone, she set up a pen-pal system with a pony Twilight's age, whom seems set on making friends. Whilst Twilight, not used to social interactions, struggles internally to keep properly etiquette on her newest friend.

Greetings and Salutations!

I am your pen-pal, but you probably already know that.

I honestly have no clue how to properly be friends, so...

Acquaintances?

Your pen-pal, Twilight Sparkle

Twilight cringed as she reread that parchment, her horn covered in purple aura to levitate the quill onto the parchment. Her unsettling mind racking her brain as her insides tore and twisted themselves to be more of a self-conscious sort of mind than a proper anxiety, insecurity filled her body as she reread that letter over and over and over again.

Over to the right of Twilight's study, there were an entire notebook's worth of crumbled up pieces of paper with the most awkward things to say to someone you've never met or will have the pleasure of meetings. Twilight was glad that she had more than one parchments, however, she was steadily running out of ink quickly and had until Celestia lowered the moon to have sent an introductory letter.

Twilight looked outside, noticing the sun rising quickly and her heart was sinking deep into her stomach even quicker, faster than The Wonderbolt's dive. Twilight's eye twitched, as she slowly recognize the fact that she was late turning in her letter. That, and the fact she had stayed up all night just to write a less than measly message.

Maybe if she was fast enough, she could quickly get this to Elliot Owlness, the Castle's personal letter-owl. Twilight scooted away from her study and quickly and neatly folded the parchment and slid it into a already signed envelope. Twilight looked outside again, noticing Celestia using the majority of her magic lowering the rest of the moon while simultaneously lifting the fiery star .

Twilight crept to her door and opened it, she walked out and closed it with a hind-leg. The note anchored between her teeth, careful to not get any saliva onto the letter. This was a first impressions letter, she already looks lazy and the last thing she wanted was to look like a drooling slob as well.

Wait.

Twilight was a unicorn, what was she doing?

Twilight's horn lit up and she levitated the envelope, rushing towards the Message Room, barely dodging an orange trainee with blue hair, she busted through the door, awakening a former peacefully sleeping owl.
