Fractured Hope

It wasnt exactly the same every time. You would think it would be, but it wasnt. Sometimes Nadine would wake up sweating, with terror in her eyes, and look around the room as if she expected her attackers to step out of shadows. They blew out the candles, and the two sisters slowly made their way through the castle and up the stairs, leaning on each other for support. One at Celestias bedroom door, they paused. "Ill see you in the morning?" Celestia asked, wiping away the remains of tears in her eyes.

"I was thinking......" Nadine muttered, pawing nervously at the floor. "C-could I sleep with you? I`ve been having nightmares, and-"

Celestia`s face instantly softened. "Of course, Nadine."

Nadine looked up at her big sister with gratitude in her eyes. "Thanks, Celly."

Both with gentle smiles on her face, the pair of sisters disappeared into the room, the door closing with a soft click. The castle was at peace once more.
