Luna's Bedchamber
20 years before the events of Friendship is Magic
/
Luna was stargazing on her lunar balcony, as she did every night for the 980 years she's been confided to the Moon. It helped her clear her mind on nights like these, when She was trying to surface once more, to gain control of her body and attempt to plunge Equestria into eternal night. If she still harbored the jealousy of her sister's actions so long ago, she would have given in immediately to the evil emotions inside her. However, these past centuries of almost isolation have given her time to see the wrongs of her jealousy.
"Uuuuuuuuuggggggggggghhhhhhhh!" Luna grunted as she fell to the ground, her mind again being assaulted. She began to shakenly get up but was brought down by another assault.
Even though she accepted what she once thought was wrong, Nightmare Moon never made it easy.
Usually, a friend she had made during her 3rd century of banishment helped her through this horrible day, but he was running a little late. Eventually, after three hours and more probes of her mind, Luna accepted that he wasn't going to make it. Luna stared up into the stars, though slightly distorted from the bubble that protected her from the vacuum of space, and began to cry. She cried heavily for a few minutes, wishing there was always somepony there with her to keep her company. A friend or… no. She peered at the distant stars again and whispered, "I need a child."
She almost started to cry when a bright light began to emit from her bedroom. She recognized it as the signs of her friend's vehicle's arrival. Luna trotted to the left corner and sat on her haunches, waiting for her friend to fully arrive. A blue box came into existence in the corner where the noise and visuals were originating from. From there, the right side door opened up, revealing a strange bipedal creature in a worn black leather jacket, V-neck jumper and dark trousers. It had short, brown hair crowning his head. It was carrying a basket with a black blanket covering it. When it stepped out of the box, it saw and recognized Princess Luna.
"Good evening, Luna," he greeted with a Northern British accent, fiddling with his fingers and shifting around on the balls of his feet nervously, expecting her to explode at him for being late, "I'm terribly sorry I wasn't here for Nightmare Moon, I just-"
"No need to apologize, Doctor," the former Princess of the Night said, a sad smile gracing her lips. She wrapped the Doctor up in a hug, "I am glad that you are here at all. It has been a long time."
"Too long," he replied, sitting on her bed and placing the basket to his left side, with Luna sitting down on his right. "I'm assuming you're going to want to know why I didn't show."
"You assume correct, Doctor," she answered, peering at the basket, which was moving slightly, "and I would like to know what is in the basket."
"My, your mane is looking lovely this time of year," the Doctor complimented nervously, desperately trying to change the subject. He was awarded for his effort with a 'really?' facial expression from the ex-Princess. "Fine," he gave in as he put the basket on his lap, and removed the blanket. What Luna saw made her gasp and tear up.
Inside was a little Pegasus foal covered in black fur, with the occasional patch in the coat, revealing an even darker scale or two. She looked up to the Doctor for an explanation, which he thankfully had.
"He's the last Dragonborn," he explained, "a tribe of ponies that lived in a land called Skyrein," Luna took the foal in her forelegs and was stroking his charcoal mane while the Doctor talked. "I had become quite friendly with them when they were… attacked by a large band of human Vikings." Luna gasped at this. The Doctor had told her about Humanity, how they were pretty evened out when it came to good or bad, and how Vikings were some of the worst they had to offer.
"Did they…" Luna whispered as she realized what had happened to them.
"Except this one," he answered with a grim expression, "I snatched him up and got out of there. Then I realized he was very special."
"Why? Don't they all look like this?" Luna questioned as she held up the foal, who was being murmur, revealing a mouth full of sharp teeth.
"No," the Doctor told her, "There is a legend, that every one thousand years, there is a Dragonborn that is blessed with the powers of a legendary dragon, along with their appearance. He is a Dovahkiin." The little one sneezed, and let loose a small purple fireball that dissipated before it singed the Doctor's jacket.
"What will you do with him?" Luna inquired, snatching up the foal again and cradling him in her arms.
"Well," he began, "After I got out in the TARDIS," he gestured to the blue box in the corner with his hand, "I heard your voice whisper 'I need a child'. No idea why, but I've learned not to question such things anymore. So, I was wondering if-"
"Yes! Of course I'll raise him!" Luna began giving the foal a loving hug, while the foal in slowly opened his eyes. They were pure emeralds, which had cat like pupils in the center of them.
"That wasn't what I was going to say," the Doctor said sternly, making Luna look at him with a look of shock and a hint of rage. "I was going to ask if he could come with me in the TARDIS sometimes when he's a little older," he said with a grin on his lips.
"Doctor Who, for a moment I pondered about letting Nightmare Moon exterminate you," Luna warned darkly, then giving him a hug, confusing him to no bounds.
"What species of dragon does he represent, Doctor?" Luna asked after a few moments, pulling out of the hug and gesturing to the foal in her forelegs.
"He has the powers of a Night Fury," he explained, "nasty buggers that never miss their marks. They died out a few decades ago."
"Then his name shall be Night Fury," Luna proclaimed. The newly christened Night Fury looked up to Luna with his crazy cat eyes when she named him, making her smile and laugh at the quick learning of the Dovahkiin.
"I do have one last tidbit for you about Night," he stated, silencing the Mare in the Moon. "His soul is said to be the combination of the last Night Fury's soul and his Rider. I hope you're ready for it."
"Why are you warning me?" she asked, worried that he would be as evil as King Sombra once was. Or is…
"I knew them both once upon a time," the Doctor revealed, which would've shocked Luna if she hadn't known him as long as she did, "The Night Fury was adventurous, loyal, and full of attitude, and his Rider was smart, crafty, and as sarcastic as hell. Good luck with him." He gave a sly smile as he went towards the TARDIS. The door opened and he stepped in, then the machine sprung to life.
"Be sure to visit soon, Doctor Who," Luna called over the noise as the blue box began to rise in the air. "I can't wait to tell you about him when you return!"
"That goes both ways, Luna," the Doctor called out the open window, waving one last time before the TARDIS' door closed. However, the door was stopped by a hoof, which pulled it back and revealed Luna with a curious expression.
"Why didn't you go back in time and save the Dragonborns?" The Doctor sighed as he put his hands on his hips.
"I honestly didn't want to," He revealed, "But when I saw this colt, I knew that those events were supposed to happen. His is a destiny that cannot be changed. It's too important to the fate of something. The Universe? This dimension? Equestria?" He smiled as he pushed Luna out of the doorway, allowing it to close slowly. "Only time will tell." The door closed and the TARDIS faded out of existence, while the strange noise unique to this action sounded. When the blue box was finally done, The former Princess of the Night rolled her eyes and walked over to her bed.
"Sleep well, my Prince," she whispered to the now asleep Night Fury. She lay down on her bed and levitated him over to her to her. When he was gently dropped on the mattress, he involuntarily scooted over to her, and cuddled against her hoof. She smiled happily and dozed off, her last thought about the fact that this was the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Little did she know, the tiny foal next to her would impact the future of Equestria. Good or bad? It is unclear now, but it will show soon.

Luna was studying her son's drawings in his room, as she did whenever he accompanied Doctor Who on his adventures. The particular drawings she was looking at her from Night Fury's last time travel trip, to a place called 'Pandora', where humans were fighting blue cat people that lived in large trees, which the picture depicted. She ached to go on those adventures with him, but the limits of her banishment made it so she couldn't leave the Moon. Oh well. Night Fury's storytelling, with the Doctor's help, was good enough. He could be gone years while she only felt seconds pass by, but since she didn't her son's childhood to literally pass in the blink of an eye, she said that she could only be gone for a set amount of time.
Then, her cave home's living room began to be filled with strange hums, signaling the return of Night and the Doctor. She trotted into the hallway and through the doorway, just in time to see the TARDIS touch down on the floor. The doors of the blue police box opened, which let a fifteen year old colt, whose half feather half scale wings had an unusual amount of muscle mass that was nowhere else on his body, sprint out of it and into the open arms of his mother.
"Mom!" He exclaimed in his nasally voice, "You won't believe when me and the Doctor went today!"
"You can tell me later, my Prince," she said in a motherly voice, "Go and start drawing your pictures while I have a chat with the Doctor." She noticed that said Time Lord, had a look of seriousness, which she wanted to know the reason behind.
"Sure thing!" The Dovahkiin replied as he flew, or hovered in this case, speedily towards his room, where he began drawing a scene from his latest journey. As soon as Luna saw the end of his tail fins round the corner and out of sight, she turned to the Doctor with a serious expression. "What happened?" she asked.
"I've made a astonishing discovery that involves Night Fury," he revealed, sitting down on a moon dust mold chair, "He has the ability to wield Chaotic Magic."
Luna's heart stopped. She suddenly had a look of worry plastered on her snout. Does that mean he'll eventually be as corrupt as Discord?
"No, he won't," the Doctor said suddenly, reading Luna's thoughts, "His soul his too pure to be corrupted by it, though it will take him some time to master it."
Suddenly, a red flash of magic appeared above them, and an oak coffee table landed in between the two couches the friends were sitting on.
"No it won't!" Night called from his room, having heard the entire conversation with his extremely good hearing.
"That colt is a piece of work," the Doctor muttered, before diverting his full attention to Luna again, "we discovered it when we were on Earth about fifty years ago," he began to explain. Luna leaned in as she diverted her full attention to the battle scarred time traveler.
"We were this country called 'America'. Normally when Night is around, we tend to stay away from civilized areas for obvious reasons of 'He's a fire breathing, flying Equine'. We were walking by this diner when music started playing from it. Night loved the music, but when I told him he couldn't because of his form, he wished to be a human. Next thing I know, a human teenager was where Night was. He transformed, Luna." he put emphasis into transformed.
"What did he look like?" Luna inquired, wondering if he was just as adorable as a human as he was a dragon-pony.
The Doctor opened his mouth to talk, but then closed it. He put on a grin, and said, "It will be easier to show it rather than explain it," he stated.
"Night!" Doctor Who called, "Come show your mum your new powers!"
"Okay!" he called back. Everything was in silence for a few seconds, which ended when Night Fury teleported into the living room with a magical pop and a red flash of light. He was air reclining while his wings kept him up in the air. He was consumed in another flash, and dropped down onto the ground. He had turned into a human. Luna saw that he had shaggy, brown hair, and he was wearing a green tunic with a fur coat, green trousers, and brown, fur lined boots. He was also scrawnier than the Doctor, and smaller than what she assumed was the average size of a human was.
"Good job, Night Fury!" Luna praised as Night made a mock bow, and then changed back into his original form.
"Thanks, Mom," Night replied as he nuzzled her face, an action she mirrored.
"Well, I must be going," the Doctor said, "Stay out trouble, Toothless."
Night retracted his teeth, gave him a gummy smile, brought them out again, and laughed. "You know I will, Doctor," he replied with a devilish grin.
"Fair travels, Doctor!" Luna said as he got in the TARDIS and started floating up towards the ceiling. He gave a small wave and smile, closed the doors, and vanished from their dimension.
Luna turned to her bright son and asked, "So, did you get any ideas for some new inventions?"
"Yeah!" He exclaimed as he motioned her to follow him. He went to his room and sat by his desk, while making another chair appear with his new magic for Luna to sit in. "Since who have been so riled up of 'missing me grow up'," His mother couldn't help but laugh at his impression, " I decided to fix that with a bunch of advanced technology the Doctor let me use." He summoned a pile of tech that Luna thought was useless to any normal pony. It fell onto the moon rock floor with a loud clang. Luna hadn't the slightest clue of what he was going to do with all the junk. But, Night Fury always knew what he was doing. "So I got an idea of making a small headband that…"
As the Dovahkiin explained about this suit that he was going to invent, she couldn't help feeling bad that her son would never get to make Equestria a better place. As she thought this, in the back of her mind, Nightmare Moon began to formulate a plan to change that while at the same time plunging Equestria into eternal darkness. But, as the saying goes, all good things to those to wait…

Five years later

If one looked at the Moon very closely, they could see a black speck going around in circles in the Eye of the Mare in the Moon. If they were actually on the Moon, that speck would change into a strange Pegasus encased in black armor. On its right pauldron, there was an image of a dragon lost to history. It was completely black with one fin on its coiled tail a pale blue, the same color as his prosthetic tail fin, which was operated by a series of bronze gears. The same image was on a leather strap that crossed around the chest plate. The Pegasus was also missing its left hind leg, which was replaced with a grey, metal substitute. On its face was a helmet with three rows of dull spikes going from the crown of its head down to the back of its neck, where parts of its jet black mane was visible. The helmet fully encased its head, save for its charcoal ears, with the most notable feature was two, blue glowing eyes that seemed to have the ability to stare into one's soul.
It was flying very close to the lunar surface, being able to touch it if wanted. It did a barrel roll under a strange slope, and then it did some more barrel rolls while ascending in to the stars. It stopped flapping its very muscular wings, which were nearly covered in feathers with a few scales along the top part of the wings, and it slowly began to stop moving and fall to the lunar surface. As it began to pick up speed while falling, but for some reason it tucked its wings inside little slots inside the armor. Without wings to keep it in the sky, it simply kept falling. As the lunar air whipped past its helmet, it stuck its front hooves into loops connected to its back hooves, and pulled them back. Leather wings filled the gap between its hooves, and it was flying without the use of its wings. He shakenly pressed a button on its chest plate, and a leather fin popped out of his armor on its back, stabilizing it.
"This is amazing!" it exclaimed in a male, nasally voice as it went through a dust cloud. When HE went out the other side after a few moments, there was a giant pillar of moon rock in front of him. He couldn't avoid it with his wings locked into its place.
"No longer amazing!" He yelled in panic. He thought about calling out to his mother, the former Princess of Equestria, Luna, but decided against it. He instead pressed a button on the right side of his helmet, making the plates in front of his mouth to move away, and fired a Plasma Blast at the spire of rock, weakening it. He closed the helmet back up, and curled into a ball to brace for the imminent impact.
He let out a cry as he smashed through the rock, tearing a hole right through the middle of it. He crashed onto a little island in a sea of craters about fifty feet from the tower of lunar rock. As he got up, he checked himself over. He saw no holes in his flight suit, and felt no broken bones. He was a little shaken up, but otherwise fine.
"Woo! That really came out of nowhere!" he exclaimed as he pushed the leather wings' loops off his hooves, and pressed a button on the left side of his helmet, revealing green, catlike eyes. He cringed slightly as he saw the rock tower he crashed through collapse and plummet toward the lunar surface hundreds of feet below him, but shook his head as he continued his work.
"I really got to work on that wind gliding there," he muttered to himself as he tucked the last part of his fake wings into their pockets, and unlocked his wings from the compartments they were in. He then rolled up his spring operated stabilizer fin with a crank on his chest. "Those locked up wings leave for some pretty sloppy recue maneuvers, eh?"
He took off his helmet with one front hoof and brushed his mane with the other, which was pure black and very shaggy. He looked over the view the little lunar island provided him, and showed anyone watching a face that would made 9 out of 10 mares swoon for him. He smiled as he took in the magnificent view. The sunlight he was facing made multiple shadows along the many craters, creating little lines with the light that did show through that were located between the craters' shadows. The Flier, who was Night Fury, the lovable protagonist of this novel, thought it was beautiful.
"Looks like I found another one," he said to himself as he pulled out a book between the folds of his chest plate and placed it on the ground. He opened it up to a certain page, opened up some flaps along the edges until it was a complete map of he and Luna's corner of the Moon. He grabbed a charcoal pencil from one of his pockets, sharpened it with a survival knife he kept sheathed in a scabbard attached to his left foreleg, checked with direction he was facing with a compass attached to his upper left foreleg, and put an X where his location was roughly at with his pencil in his mouth.
"So, what should a name it?" he involuntary began to scratch his left armpit with his right hoof. "Itchy Armpit it is." He wrote the words below the X. He leaned up on his knees and looked out into the lunar landscape.
"What should I do?" he asked himself he placed the pencil back into his pocket, "just keep going?" he let out a strange coo sound that was a dragon's form of a sigh, a trait he got from the dragon side of his genetics. He suddenly heard the loud beats of large wings, and his mother landed on the small island a little ways behind him.
"Well good morning, mother dearest," he greeted, getting only an eye roll and a soft smile from the former Princess of the Night, "what, may I ask, are you doing here?"
"Finding you," she answered, "which wasn't very hard." She gestured to the rubble behind them, making Night wince a little bit.
"Just… some maneuvers I'm still working on," he stated with a nervous smile. She shook her head, not believing him.
"What are you doing all the way out here?" Luna inquired, seeing as they were far away from home.
"Thinking," he replied with a tired sigh.
"About what?" She sat on her haunches right next to him, maintaining a eye lock with Night Fury's exotic green orbs he called eyes.
"What I'll do with my life when we're off this rock." Luna couldn't help but smile at his drive to get permanently off the Moon he had since he visited a big library last year. He talked about it as if it were an inevitable event.
"Why I am sure my sister and I could let you rule beside us. You seem to love being able to boss people around."
"Well, that may be fun, but that's not me, Mom," Night proclaimed, getting on his fou- err, three hooves. "All of those speeches, ruling, making laws, tha- that's your thing. Me?" He picked up his helmet and brushed off some dust on it. "I'm still looking." He stared out into the landscape yet again. "I know I'm not like you or the Doctor , and I've never met my real parents, so… what does that make me?" He plopped down on the ground, having failed to solve one of life's great mysteries.
"What you're searching for is not out there," Luna comforted, sitting down next to her son and messing with the small braids tucked behind his left ear, "It is in here." She tapped the part of his chest where his heart was. "Maybe you just have not discovered it yet." She gave him a quick peck on his cheek. Luna then realized how covered in lunar dust Night Fury was, and cleaned her lips quickly to remove the powder from them. Meanwhile, Night saw a flicker of light in the vast sea of darkness they were overlooking.
"You know, there is something out there," he said, looking out into the distance, on one knee.
"Night Fury," Luna complained stressfully, before shutting up as Night pulled her face towards what he saw, and she saw it too. She scrunched up her face in a look of confusion. It was quickly replaced for one of excitement as the strobes were quickly replaced with a blue police box, floating in the middle of nowhere.
"It's the Doctor!" He yelled happily, clipping his helmet to a hook on his belt and flying out to meet him. Luna, having the feeling that something wasn't right. Thankfully, her son felt the same uneasiness. "Stay close," he ordered, getting a firm nod from his mother.
They flew towards the floating box until they were about six feet away. The door opened and revealed a very shaken up Doctor.
"Night!" he yelled over the lunar wind rushing past his face. "You need to come with me! The legend of Nightmare Moon comes true tonight!"
"What? No, No…" he muttered, looking over to his mother, who was already in the process of being taken over by Nightmare. She had the physical form od Nightmare, minus the eyes. She was so far gone already, she couldn't speak. But when Night Fury looked into her eyes, I single word was implanted into his mind.
Run. (cue the music)
"Alright! Let's get out of here!" Night yelled hesitantly as he landed in the TARDIS, the door closing behind him. He looked around the inside of the box, which was astronomically bigger on the inside. "When and where are we going?" He asked urgently.
"Uhhh," The Doctor checked a screen on a terminal, "Ponyville, right now. One day before the 1000th year Luna's been imprisoned, and during the Summer Sun Celebration. We're actually just going to be travelling this time."
"What's going to happen?"
"Sorry, can't say," the Doctor answered as he pulled a rope, launching the TARDIS into space and time, "Since you take significant part in this crisis, if I tell you-"
"There will be a massive time paradox that you would have to clean up," Night finished for him, gripping a rail with his foreleg to stay steady during the bumpy ride. "Any advice?"
"When Nightmare calls you out, which she will, do not obey her, even if she's technically you mum. Help out the mares you'll befriend when they need it. They'll free Luna from Nightmare Moon forever." The Doctor advised as the TARDIS came to a stop.
"Got it." Night acknowledged as he opened the door and stepped into the Everfree Forest, a place he had to many times before. In different time periods of course.
"And Night," the last Dragonborn turned around, only to be hugged by the man who was the closest thing to a father, "Good luck," he whispered in his ear as the TARDIS began to lift in the air.
"You to, Doc," Night called as the British police box disappeared. He sighed and began walking towards the direction he remembered Ponyville was in. While walking towards the town, he began to admire the scenery. He thought it was interesting that the Everfree was the only place in Equestria that was truly wild, whereas there were entire planets that were.
As he near a clearing, he heard a low growl behind him. He turned around and instantly jumped back in surprise. Night was toe to toe with a manticore, a loin-like creature with a scorpion tail that was only native to the Everfree. Night immediately sprang into action. He launched himself into the air, became airborne, and launched a Plasma Blast into its face. The large beast roared in pain and ran away with a scorched mane and its tail between its legs.
Night huffed in satisfaction, but then realized something; a fully armed and armored Dragonborn wasn't very common in this part of anywhere. So he cast a spell onto his flight suit, making it disappear completely and making him invisible. He tapped his left bracer twice, which made his body visible again, then tapped it twice again, making him vanish once more. Satisfied that it would work for his purposes, he took to the skies, unseen by any eyes, and zoomed towards what he thought were buildings.
He continued on his journey, and after confirming that the small collection of buildings was indeed Ponyville, circled the town like a hawk. He surveyed the lovely little town, and confirmed that it was made up of mostly straw thatch roof homes, and the occasional store or two. He also noticed a large tree near the middle of town that seemed to be the local library. He rolled his eyes that the bad name for the library, and a rainbow tornado caught his attention. He turned towards it and it dissipated, showing a purple mare with a very foofy mane, courtesy of the controlled tornado. He also saw a cyan mare laying on the ground laughing her tail off with a baby Mountain King dragon on top her doing the exact same thing. Night started to listen in on their conversation while camped out on a nearby cloud.
"Let me guess," The purple unicorn said, "You're Rainbow Dash."
"The one and only," the rainbow maned Pegasus called Rainbow Dash confirmed cheekily as she flew up and closer to the unicorn, "Why, you heard of me?"
"I heard you were supposed to be keeping the sky clear," the purple mare confirmed. She let out a sigh. "I'm Twilight Sparkle, and the Princess sent me to check on the weather."
"Yeah, yeah, that'll be a snap." Skittles replied as she lounged on a cloud. "I'll do it in a jiffy. Just as soon as I'm done practicing."
What a hard practice session, Night thought sarcastically as he got up from his prone position and turned off his cloak. If she won't do anything, I guess I will. He zoomed towards one of the clouds that were above Ponyville and smashed through it, making it dissipate. The speed he was going would make Rainbow Dash's jaw drop. If she was watching, anyway. He was done so fast that the two mares didn't even notice as they were finishing up their conversation.
"Hey," Rainbow said, "I could clear this sky in-"
"5.0 seconds," Night cut in as he held a stopwatch he pulled out of nowhere, dropping it in front of the ground next to Twilight. She checked to see if the watch was correct, and indeed it was. She was stunned and flustered, to say the least.
"Hey! That was my job!" RD yelled at Night's silhouette as she flew towards it, only for him to disappear, which confused her greatly.
"You should be thanking me," he replied calmly and suddenly in her ear, surprising her. "It's not every day you get paid for napping on the job."
Rainbow was furious. She would've rammed the disguised Dragonborn six feet underground if he wasn't invisible.
"This isn't over!" Dash yelled at the retreating Chaos user, who as still claoked.
"I'd assumed so!" he called back. Rainbow just huffed and flew back to her house, angry that her job had just been done by a complete stranger, who actually did the job a lot faster than her. She would find this guy, and settle the score.
/
Night Fury began to sightsee on the ground while waiting for the next day. He saw a homemade candy store, a music shop that he resolved to check out once this Nightmare Moon mess was straightened out, and a boutique he would avoid at all costs. He was passing a sweet shop called 'Sugarcube Corner' when a pink Earth pony mare with an even pinker fluffy mane trotted out of it. As they made eye contact, she zoomed towards him in an instant. Night was confused that she could actually see her as he was looked over by the Earth pony, and had his ears bombarded by her fast, excited words.
"HimynameisPinkiepieIveneverseenyouaroundheredoesthatmeanyournewwowthatstwonewponiesinonedaydoyouknowtheothernewponyohihavetoreplanmyhiwelcometoponyvillepartynowbye!"
Night was shocked speechless as Pinkie managed to say about 20 words in one breath. He shook his head and forgot about it. He had seen many weird things on his travels with Doctor Who, from genocidal robots to feminism. It was hard to weird him out after that.
Night found himself walking down a path that led out of town. He was enjoying the scenery his walk held him down, but then heard bird whistling. He listened more, and realized somepony was trying to turn a bunch of birds into a choir. He made a turn by a hedge and saw a yellow Pegasus mare with a pink mane directing a group of birds perched on branches of a young, small tree. Night wanted to listen, so he moved right behind the mare without her noticing and listened. He assumed she was in charge of the music of the Summer Sun Celebration, but couldn't help but feel that the music wasn't suited for the event. So he decided to do something. So he decloaked, made his armor vanish except his left bracer and strap for Inferno, changed his appearance so he looked like a regular Pegasus, and spoke.
"Excuse me, miss," he said, making the mare jump and yelp in surprise, and her birds flew away as well. She turned to the disgused Dovahkiin slowly and hid her face behind her mane.
"Are you in charge of the music for the Summer Sun Celebration?" She nodded slowly, so her mane didn't move enough for the black 'Pegasus' to see her flushed face. "What's your name?"
"Fluttershy," she whispered. It was so soft and quiet most ponies would need her to repeat herself. Luckily for her, Night had excellent hearing.
"Fluttershy, huh? That's a pretty name." She blushed a deep crimson when he said that, embarrassed that any stallion that handsome would say that to her.
Fluttershy simply squeaked.
"I'm Night Fury. A pleasure to make your acquaintance." He held out his hoof to shake, but when Fluttershy didn't do anything, he slowly put his hoof down. A few awkward moments later, he got an idea.
"Say, do you mind if I show your bird friends something different for their performance?"
She nodded her head no.
"Alright, everypony," she instructed her bird friends in a quiet voice, "try to sing what he shows you. If you want to, that is."
After Night was given the go ahead from the wildlife preserver, he started whistling the first tunes of a song from a movie he watched back on Earth with the Doctor. The movie was called 'Rocky', and the song he was whistling always came on in the beginning and during the training montages the movies were known for. Thankfully, the birds picked it up quite fast, and pretty soon it sounded exactly like the song, but instead of instruments, there were birds. Fortunately for Night, Fluttershy really liked the music.
"Oh, I simply loved that song Night!" She exclaimed, albeit softer than what ponies were when they were that happy, "Where to do learn that music?"
"Wrote it myself," he lied, hating that he was taking credit for such an awesome song. She'll be told later. At that moment, the same purple mare and her dragon decided to make themselves known.
"Hello!" she called, making Fluttershy once again yelp and jump in surprise and fright, while the birds flew away again. She hid behind Night Fury in a futile effort to be hidden. The purple mare chose to ignore the overly shy mare and focus her attention on the more confident black stallion.
"Oh my, I'm so sorry," she apologized, "I didn't mean to frighten your birds. I'm just here to check up on the music and it's sounding beautiful. I'm Twilight Sparkle. What're your names?"
"I'm Night Fury, and this is Fluttershy," the Dragonborn introduced himself and his new friend. "She's in charge of the music; I was just passing by and decided to help her."
Twilight felt… strange when she was talking to him. A feeling that she didn't want to feel. "Well, um, looks like your birds are back," Twilight said, obviously wanting to get out of this situation. "So I guess everything's in order. Keep up the good work!"
Night simply nodded and gave a warm smile, while Flutters squeaked in discomfort.
"Ooookay," she said as she walked away slowly, facing her dragon assistant that walked out from behind a bush. "Well, that was easy."
She jinxed herself as Fluttershy immediately became more open.
"Wow! A baby dragon!" She exclaimed as she plowed through Twilight to get a closer look at her scaly friend. "Oh I've never seen a baby dragon before! OH, he's soo cute!"
"Well well well!" the dragon said cheekily to Twilight, sprawled on the ground, before turning back to Fluttershy and smiling smugly.
"Oh my, he talks! I didn't know dragons could talk!"
"His species of dragon is only of the few that can," Night Fury explained as he studied the little drake. "He's an eight year old baby Mountain King; he's about sixteen in pony years. He'll be able to start spitting true dragon fire in about three years, but for now he can breathe underwater, transport things to anypony he wants with a certain spell, and have the ability to eat gems for flame fuel and energy." Everypony was stunned at the facts he just spewed out. He smiled sheepily and said, "Dragon expert." Fluttershy just kept asking the dragon questions.
"What's your name?"
"I'm Spike."
"Hi Spike, I'm Fluttershy. Wow, a talking dragon! And what do dragons talk about?"
"Well, what do you want to know?"
"Absolutely everything!"
Both Night Fury and Twilight groaned as she said that.
"Mountain Kings have excellent memories," Night explained to Twi as they began talking back towards Ponyville, "he can remember everything he's ever done so far in his life."
Twilight groaned even more at the statement, while Night cursed his superb hearing for the first time.
Spike started telling his life story as Night wished he could conjure some ear plugs. "Well, I started out as a cute little purple and green egg…"
/
2 hours later (Spongebob style)
/
"… and that's the story of my whole life!" Spike finished after what Night thought as the most anti-social and boring life ever, "Well up until today. Wanna hear about today?"
"Oh, yes please!" Fluttershy answered with quiet enthusiasm. Spike was about to start when Twilight whipped around to face Fluttershy, interrupting the poor dragon before he had a chance to speak.
"I am so sorry, how did we get here so fast?" Twilight feigned surprise as they stopped in front of the library tree, "This is where I'm staying while in Ponyville and my poor baby dragon needs his sleep."
"No I don't," Spike said before he was bucked off of Twilight and fell on his butt.
"Aww, wook at dat," she said in a baby voice while Spike scowled at her, "he's so sweepy he can't even keep his widdle bawance!" He gave a fake smile to the two Pegasi.
"Poor thing," Fluttershy said sympathetically as she scooped Spike up in her fore hooves and flew into the library, as Night followed her in on hoof, "You simply must go to bed."
"Yes, yes, we'll get right on that," Twilight assured as she pushed both Pegasi out the door, "Well, g'night!"
She thought she slammed the door in their faces, but Night stuck his armored fore leg into the door frame and kept it open. He probably would've broke a bone if he hadn't put the spell on his bracer to keep it there. He slowly pushed the door open as he put one feather over his lips to Flutters, who got the message to be quiet. He walked in, undetected in the dark thanks to his coat.
"Huh, rude much?" Spike scolded his caretaker.
"Sorry Spike," Twilight apologized, "But I have to convince the Princess that Nightmare Moon is coming, and we're running out of time! I just need to be alone so I can study without a bunch of crazy ponies trying to make friends all the time. Now, where's the light?" As much as Night was surprised that the purple unicorn knew of the Nightmare Moon threat, he stilled managed to act perfectly normal.
"I got one," Night called from the darkness, making the two yelp in surprise as he unsheathed Inferno and ignited it, filling the room partially with light.
"You nearly gave me a heart attack!" Twilight yelled at him, as he walked over to them on three – no, technically two hooves, with the third, his left one, holding Inferno. "What are you doing in here?!"
"Uh, I need to check out a book?" Night replied nervously. A sneeze was heard in the library, in the same room the three were in.
"Uh, was that one of you?" Spike asked, his voice shaking with fright.
"No," they answered together, Night getting in a battle ready stance with his fire sword. Suddenly, the building's lights turned on, revealing the entire population of Ponyville in the library with them.
"SURPRISE!" they all yelled as the lights came on, scaring the living crap out of all three of them and causing Night to throw Inferno in the air. A party whistle was blown in Twilight's face as night caught Inferno in midair, thankfully not burning anything while it was air borne. Twilight let out a groan of 'suffering' as he clipped Inferno back on its place on his hip holster.
"Surprise!" The same pink mare they both had already encountered yelled in their faces. "Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie, and I threw this party just for you two! Were you surprised? Were ya? Were ya? Huh huh huh?"
"You got me," Night Fury answered as he surveyed all the ponies in the room, "and aren't libraries supposed to be quiet?" Twi added.
"Well, that's silly!" Pinkie exclaimed, "What kind of welcome party would this be if it were quiet? I mean, duh, bo-ring!" Twilight and Pinkie began walking – well, Pinkie was bouncing - towards the drink table, with Night following them. "Y'see, I saw you when you first got here, remember? You were all "hello" and I was all," she gasped, reminding Twilight of their first faithful encounter. "Remember? Y'see, I've never saw either of you before and if I've never saw you before that means you're new, cause I know everypony, and I mean everypony in Ponyville!"
Twilight groaned as she reached the table and began pouring something into a goblet and began drinking from it. Night noticed it was hot sauce, but since she was being such an asshat, he let her learn the hard way. Pinkie kept up her little speech.
"And if you're new, that meant you haven't met anyone yet, and if you haven't met anyone yet, you must not have any friends, and if you don't have any friends then you must be lonely, and that made me so sad, then I had an idea, and that's why I went," she gasped again, "I must throw a great big ginormous super-duper spectacular welcome party and invite everyone in Ponyville! See?" Fluttershy, that Rainbow Dash mare Night owned that afternoon, an orange Earth pony mare with a Stetson cowpony hat, and white unicorn mare with a designer mane surrounded her, "And now you have lots and lots of friends!"
That was when Twilight's brain registered that she was drinking hot sauce, and her face became bright red. She turned towards the mares, the baby dragon, and the stallion, tears and sweat running down her face.
"Are you alright, sugarcube?" The mare in the hat asked. Twilight didn't respond as her mane turned into fire and she ran up the stairs by her.
"Oh, she's so happy she's crying!" Pinkie exclaimed. Spike picked up the bottle Twi was pouring into the goblet.
"Hot sauce," he read, "Oh." Pinkie grabbed the bottle of hot sauce out of the dragon's claws, poured it onto a nearby cupcake, and proceeded to eat it. Everypony looked at her with disgusted expressions.
"What! It's good!" She said in her defense, though it didn't change anypony's opinion.
"That's putting it mildly," Night stated as he did the same thing, only to choke and sputter as soon as he bit into the hot sauce-covered cupcake. Everypony laughed because of either his reaction when eating the cupcake or his ridiculously bad pun. Music started and the real party began.

Another 2 two hours later
/
The party lasted well into the night, with Night and his new friends doing all sorts of stuff, including but not limited to chugging contests, bobbing for apples, an arm wrestling tournament (Night surprised everypony, including himself, by beating Applejack in an arm wrestling match) and lots of dancing.
Night staggered off the dance floor, due to the fact that his prosthetic leg fell off when he was breakdancing. He sat down on a chair and strapped it in its place, and then he went to the punch table and got himself a glass. He hadn't been to a party this wild since he went with the Doctor to a V-J Day party in Manhattan in 1945.
"Losing your leg once is bad," Rainbow said to Night as she the girls, the other two he had identified as Rarity and Applejack, and Spike walked over, "But twice? That's just careless."
"Wow, the last time I heard that joke, I laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur," Night shot back as everypony laughed at RD's expense, while she was getting peeved a Night's smart ass attitude, then something hit her. She's heard that voice before. She decided to confront him about this when she had some alone time with him. The stallion in question checked to see if Inferno was still in its proper place, which it was. The farm girl of the group took notice of his involuntary actions.
"Relax, sugarcube, no one's gonna steal yer… what is that doohickey anyway?" Applejack asked.
"This is Inferno, what every dragon tamer needs," he explained as he handed it to a curious Pinkie Pie, "One end coats the blade in Monstrous Nightmare saliva." The end of the hilt that wasn't a dragon's mouth let out a torrent of green gas, which everyone eyed cautiously.
"And the other end lets out Hideous Zippleback gas," he told them as he slowly backed away, placing his cup on a table, "All you need is a spark and-" The area around his friends exploded in a fireball, and after the smoke cleared they were still standing, albeit covered in ash.
"Oh yeah, there you go!" Night exclaimed as Spike batted at an ember with his claws, his natural instincts taking over. "After you use this, even the testiest dragons can be tamed. Right Spike?" Said baby dragon came back to his and acted like nothing happened.
"Yeah, sure Night," he said as he put his claws behind his back and shifted his gaze to anywhere but his friends. They all laughed at his effort to forget. They then shook off the ash covering their coats, while Night recoiled as most of it landed on him.
"Are you alright, Night Fury darling?" Rarity asked as he slowly opened his eyes and wiping the soot out of them.
"You guys covered me in ash, but you can't really tell, can you?" He said as he whipped the ash on his hooves onto the ground. Everypony laughed again.
"What exactly do you do for a living, Night?" Rainbow Dash asked, curious to know how he managed to clear Ponyville's skies faster than she would have, and to see if his profession gae her any clues. And the fact that he had a flaming, retractable sword in his procession at apparently all times.
"Well," Night began, looking like he was deep in thought. "Where do I begin? Alright; I'm a dragon tamer, dragon rider, survivalist, a master in karate, judo, MMA, and Chuck Kwan do, assassin, parkour runner, swordsman, sharpshooter, explorer, soldier, stunt flier, distance and speed runner and flier, and weather pony."
Everypony's jaw was literally on the floor. Night felt a little awkward, taking a sip of the drink he put on the table.
"H-how?" RD managed to say after a few minutes, as everypony regained their composure.
"Oh, I forgot to mention I'm a buckin' time traveler," he answered sarcastically, actually telling the truth. But nopony believed him, they instead burst into laughter, leading Night to sarcastically believe that his sarcasm was so advanced that people thought he was full of it.
"Oh, you're full of it, Night," Rainbow stated between laughs. Yep. Night Fury has been officially named the World's most sarcastic pony.
"Time to play pin the tail on the pony!" Pinkie yelled randomly, making most of the ponies in the room cheer, and prompted the DJ at the party, DJPon3 or Vinyl Scratch, to start playing disco music. "You are playing Night?" Pinkie asked the charcoal Pegasus.
"No," he answered, "I'll willingly hoof wrestle an Earth pony whose biceps are as big as my head, but I draw the line at standing around a dizzy pony with a needle. Besides, I still need to get my night flying in."
"Okay, but make sure you don't miss the sunrise!" Pinkie called out as Night trotted out the door, unfurled his wings and shot up into the night sky, his coat easily making him disappear. As he lifted off into the sky, Pinkie watched in the doorway. Rainbow joined her after a few seconds.
"Where'd Night go?" She asked, looking around.
"Off into the sky, never to be seen again." Pinkie said that last part with a 'spooky' voice, and laughed her butt off afterwards.
"I'm gonna go find him," Dash proclaimed as she got ready to take off, "I need to have a little talk with him about that little stunt he did today."
"Don't beat him up too bad!" Pinkie called out to the cyan mare as she took off into the night sky. Rainbow didn't reply. The pink party pony simply rolled her eyes and dashed back into the library, geared up to have at least one turn in Pin the Tail on the Pony.
Meanwhile, Night had changed back into his original form and was in his flight suit minus his helmet, going at near sonic speeds in the night sky. If one looked very carefully, they could see the elusive Dragonborn, his shadow blocking the stars and showing his form. Rainbow apparently didn't know that trick as she simply darted across the sky, hoping to at least run into the guy. Night was zooming right in front of his old home, the Moon, when he felt a familiar magical presence that he knew wasn't a good sign.
It was Luna, here in Ponyville, though something didn't feel right. It felt, darker…
It was Nightmare Moon.
Night Fury stopped in midair as the truth hit him like an 18 wheeled truck, which happened to be in everypony's view of the Moon. If Nightmare Moon was here, and Princess Celestia was here…
Night took his helmet off his back and slipped it on, keeping his mouth's plates and the blue protective glass in his eyeholes out of sight. Then he made a beeline towards the building he felt Nightmare in, which was coincidently the building where everypony in town was flocking towards. He realized that that's where the ceremony was taking place.
On the other side of town, Rainbow gave up on her search for the elusive black Pegasus as everypony was gathering towards Town Hall.
He's probably there already, Dash reassured herself as she trotted into the building and stood by Applejack. She actually wasn't that far from the truth, as Night slipped into the building through a third story window in the back of the building. He crept down the hallways until he was a corner away from the curtain covered balcony where Princess Celestia was supposed to raise the Sun and lower the Moon. Instead of her waiting there, Nightmare Moon was in her place, an evil shell of his mother. She was terrifying, especially to Night Fury.
Night heard some muffled speaking from the other side of the curtain, while he heard Nightmare cackle softly, creeping him out to no end. He then heard somepony proclaim 'Princess Celestia', while that choir of birds sang Rocky's montage music. Nightmare dissolved into a purple mist and backed off into the other hallway's corner when the curtain opened, while everypony down below gasped and broke into distressed dialogue.
"Remain calm, everypony!" A mare below yelled, "There must be a reasonable explanation!" More frightened talk.
"She's gone!" A Rarity said who was on the balcony. Night heard more chatter in the main hall, followed by screaming as he saw Nightmare Moon's wisps flow onto the balcony. It blew away from the middle to reveal the malevolent mare of the hour.
"There you are, you night loving fuck," Night muttered as he crawled from the corner to behind Nightmare undetected.
"Oh, my beloved subjects," Nightmare proclaimed, "It's been so long since I've seen your precious, little sun-loving faces."
"What did you do with our Princess?!" Rainbow yelled as she tried to rush Nightmare, but was stopped by Applejack.
"Whoa there, Nelly," She managed to say through a mouthful of rainbow colored hair.
"Why, am I not royal enough for you?" The Mare in the Moon questioned, "Don't you know who I am?"
"Ooh, ooh, more guessing games!" Pinkie exclaimed happily, "Um, Hokey Smokes! How about... Queen Meanie! No! Black Snooty, Black Snooty-" Her remaining guesses were muffled by an apple stuffed in her mouth, courtesy of an 'innocent' looking Applejack.
"Does my crown no longer count now that I have been imprisoned for a thousand years?" Nightmare asked as she went nose to nose with a recoiling Fluttershy, "Did you not recall the legend? Did you not see the signs?" She did the same thing to Rarity.
"I did," Twilight Sparkle proclaimed from the front of the crowd, "and I know who you are. You're The Mare in the Moon – Nightmare Moon!" Everypony in the room gasped, while Pinkie did the over dramatic one she did that afternoon.
"Well well well, somepony who remembers me." Nightmare said in fake gratitude. "Then you also know why I'm here."
"You're here to… to," Twilight couldn't finish her sentence due to all the fear she had. Meanwhile, Night pressed the button on his helmet that brought down the blue glass that covered his visor, and stood in a battle stance, ready to hurl a fireball at the she beast's unsuspecting flank.
"Remember this day, little ponies; for it was your last," Nightmare warned the populace of Ponyville, "From this moment forth, the night will last forever!" She laughed maniacally as her star mane turned into a whirlwind of thunder and lightning. Night decided this was the perfect moment to strike. He fired a Plasma Blast at her butt, which dissipated the mane storm and propelled 10 feet forward and into the air before she stopped herself.
"Lady, please shut the buck up!" Night yelled as he flew into view. Unfortunately for him, his new friends recognized him as the Pegasus they met that day, even though that was clearly not a Pegasus now.
"Why you little-" She stopped herself as a look of pure shock was plastered on her face as she saw who fired the blast. Her face shifted to a devilish grin "My, you deserve a time out from that behavior, son." His friends, along with Everypony in the crowd, gasped. Night Fury was her son? "But if you listen to my orders for the rest of tonight, you'll be forgiven."
"Trick question, Mom,"" Night spit out with venom, "Because according to you, night will last forever, and if night lasts forever, I'll never be forgiven, so," He teleported to her using Chaos magic and restrained her, "Why stop now?"
Nightmare struggled against his grip, but she realized she couldn't get out physically, so she zapped him with a bolt of lightning from her horn. It worked, as Night's muscles stopped working for a moment, enough time for Nightmare to break out of his grasp, turn into the starry mist, and fly out the door. Night took a few more potshots at the star cloud, before realizing it was futile. He looked down into the crowd and spotted his definitely shocked friends, though Spike was unconscious.
"You mares, in the library, now!" He ordered as he bolted towards the library. He went halfway across the town in less than 5 seconds, and once he was inside, he began to tear up the shelves to find a particular book about the Elements of Harmony. He was so caught up in his search, he didn't even notice the mares he requested come in. Twilight brought Spike upstairs and put him into bed while everyone got over the shock that the armored pony in the same room as them as the sarcastic Pegasus they got to know that day. As Twilight came back downstairs, he got at his breaking point and exclaimed, "How can I stop Nightmare Moon without the Elements of Harmony!"
"And just what are the Elements of Harmony?" Rainbow Dash shouted in his face, surprising him enough to start backing away slowly. But Dash kept up with his snail pace. "And how should we trust you now since we know your Nightmare Moon's son, huh? Are you a spy?" That tipped Night off the edge. He lunged at her neck, wrapping a hoof around it and slamming her to the ground, surprising everypony in the room with his speed and skill. He pinned her to the floor, and while she struggled, tensed a muscle in his right foreleg. A blade popped out of his gauntlet, and she held it to RD's neck, making her immediately stop moving in fear of her life.
"If I was a spy, you'd all he dead already," Night revealed darkly. He shot a small fireball at a bookshelf that dissipated before impact, getting his point across.
"And I'm not Nightmare Moon's son," he proclaimed as he got off of Rainbow, who released a breath she didn't know she had, "I'm the adopted son of Princess Luna, who that bitch is possessing." Rainbow was about to rush him again when she was stopped by Applejack
"Simmer down Sally, he ain't no spy," she reassured her rainbow haired friend, before she and the rest of the mares approached him, "but he sure know's what's goin' on, don't you Night Fury?"
Night removed his helmet, giving the girls a good look of his real face. It looked similar to his Pegasus one, but there were multiple scales overcoming his fur in some places, a sharp fang was poking out from between his lips, and his eyes were replaced by green dragon eyes similar to Spike's. His mane was also a lot shaggier than before, and there are a few braids behind his left ear. They all secretly thought he looked hotter than before, but they kept their composure and listened to what he had to say.
"When my mother was first banished to the Moon, she realized she was wrong in trying to make night eternal and denounced her actions, becoming her true self once more and pushing Nightmare to the depths of her mind. She would always try to take over every year on this night, but Mom repelled her."
"She kept this up for 980 years before she finally realized it was too much. She decided she needed somepony to be with her at all times to keep her sane, somepony who would always be there… a child to call her own." He wiped away a tear before continuing. "On the 980th year of her exile, a friend of hers, one of the only beings in existence able to talk to her face to face in her situation, came to visit her. He had picked up an orphaned foal on his latest adventure, and decided to give it to her. That foal was me." The girls were tearing up at this sad and happy story.
"I managed to see the world while living in the Moon. I was carefree and happy… until last year, when I learned about my mom's banishment and inner struggle while visiting the Canterlot library. I may have bumped into you there, Twilight." Twi then remembered an incident when a black unicorn stampeded through a large stack of books that were in her procession, and huffed angrily at the realization that that unicorn was him in a different form.
"Anyway," Night continued, "I've been trying to find a solution for her problem ever since. It didn't exactly take long to find out that the Elements of Harmony were the cause and solution for the whole situation, but it's been their location that has been stumping me for the past few months…" He trailed off as he spotted a particular book under the 'E' section right behind the girls. He brushed past them as he pulled out the book from the shelf and read the cover; The Elements of Harmony: A Reference Guide. He flipped through to the part where it said location and his eyes nearly jumped out of his head.
"… and I just found out." He threw the open book onto the ground in front of the curious mares. "six out of seven, Generosity, Laughter, Honesty, Loyalty, Kindness, and Courage are located at the ancient Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters. The seventh is brought out by a magical spark with the others present." He turned around and trotted out the door. Thinking he knew what he was doing, the girls followed him out
"Uh, one quick question," Applejack asked as she and her friends kept pace with the goal set stallion, "I've never heard of a Castle of The Royal Sisters, so where exactly is this place now?"
He stopped trotting at the edge of a forest, but not some ordinary forest… "The Everfree Forest," He answered, slipping on his helmet before walking into the unknown. "Follow me!"
"Wait," Twilight called out to him, making him stop and look over his shoulder, his blue glowing eyes illuminating parts of his armored body, "Who are you really?"
Night sighed, and made the blue lens go away as he turned around to face her and her friends, who were awaiting an answer.
"My name is Night Fury, and I'm the last of the Dragonborn. You may have heard of my more famous title, 'The Dark Dovahkiin.'" They were all speechless. Night sighed as he sealed his helmet up. "Let's go; we're burning moonlight."
He started back into the Everfree as the girls remained in their spots, RD's wings erect. Rarity finally broke the silence.
"He certainly is an exotic stallion," She said sultry, before sighing dramatically, "But alas, he simply isn't my type."
"I'll admit he's a looker," Applejack revealed, "But I like mah stallions a little more 'down o earth', if ya catch mah drift." They all looked to Rainbow Dash, whose wings were still shot out.
"Still hate him," she mumbled, a heavy blush on her face. All her friends laughed her feeble attempts to hide her crush on Night. Who, unbeknownst to the mares, who for all they knew was in the depths of the forest, was actually watching them from afar, in absolute disbelief.
That was faster than I expected, He thought, getting up and getting back on the path he was originally on, At least I know who's coming after me during Mating Season. He decided that it was time to really get moving and shouted, "HEY! YOU CAN'T SAVE THE PRINCESS IF YOU'RE ALL STARING AT MY FLANK!"
RD's face turned into a shade of even deeper red when she heard him, and making the others crack up in laughter.
"He's right, girls," Twi said while snickering, "Let's get moving." Dash began moving with the others without complaint, still too embarrassed to say anything, while Night heard the distant roar of a dragon.
This'll be something, he thought as he started back up the trail.
Boy, was he right.
/
Everfree Forest, Equestria
Half an hour since Nightmare Moon's return
/
"So, none of you have ever been here before?" Twilight asked her friends as they walked into the Everfree Forest.
"Ugh, heavens no!" Rarity complained, "Just look at it – it's dreadful!"
"And it ain't natural," Applejack added, "Folks say it don't work the same as Equestria."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Twi questioned.
"Nopony knows," Rainbow said cryptically, "You know w-"
"Actually, I know," Night revealed as he took his helmet off and placed it on his back, while everypony looked at in like me had a bug crawling out of his ear.
"How? You saying you've been in here before?" RD challenged.
"Yeah," Night countered, going nose to nose with her, him on the ground while she was in the air, "That's exactly what I'm saying." He looked towards a river a ways in the distance. "I came through here on my way to Ponyville, as a matter of fact."
Rainbow was about to say a snappy comeback when the ground under their hooves fell apart, making the non-winged ponies slide down a cliff. Rainbow and Flutters went after Pinkie and Rarity, while Night swooped down under the edge, waiting to catch Applejack, Twilight, or both if they fell. Applejack managed the grab onto a vine with her teeth on the way down, but Twilight wasn't so lucky, as she found herself hanging off the edge of a long drop, a long fall to her death if she slipped.
Applejack saw her predicament from her point of view, and decided to save her.
"Hold on! I'ma comin'!" She called as she slid down the slope and grabbed Twilight's hooves, trying to pull her up but to no avail.
"Applejack! What do I do?!" Twi cried out in panic as she felt her back hooves slowly slide down the slope. Applejack looked around frantically to find an answer, and stopped on Night Fury. He pointed to himself with his hoof, pointed down, and then went in that direction. She understood perfectly.
"Let go," she said sternly, with a determined expression on her face.
"Are you crazy!?" Twilight yelled, she herself move more down after every moment.
"No I ain't," AJ shot back, "I promise you'll be safe."
"That's not true!" Twi screamed, in panic induced denial.
"Now listen here," AJ said, calming Twilight somewhat, "What I'm sayin' to you is the honest truth. Let go, and you'll be safe." Twilight looked at her with wide eyes, now believing her, and let go. She fell through the air, screaming, when she was caught. She looked up at her savior, who was none other than Night Fury, carrying her bridal style.
"Geez, it's like she weighs nothing to you!" Rainbow yelled from the ground 15 feet below, while Twi watched Applejack hop down to them from a series of ledges, a smile plastered on her face.
"Well, she isn't a big slab of cast iron," Night called back as he landed, dropping an astounded Twilight at the same time. "Oh, I forgot to mention I'm a blacksmith, too."
raaaawwwrrrr!
A piercing roar filled the valley they were in, which Night Fury and Fluttershy identified as a manticore. The group looked over to the other side of the valley and saw it, part of its mane scorched. It was the same manticore that Night fought and defeated earlier that day.
"A manticore!" Twilight cried out as it settled its gaze on the ponies, particularly the black one that scorched it. "We gotta get past him!" Rarity was about to attack when a black hoof was shoved in front of her, courtesy of Night.
"You think you can calm him down?" Night asked Fluttershy.
"I think so, she said timidly, and trotted up to it. As she came in front of the manty roar, she nuzzled its paw affectionately, making it stop its aggressive behavior instantly.
"Shhh... It's okay," she said quietly, calming down the beast even more. It overturned its left paw, and showed a purplish black thorn lodged in it. "Oh, you poor, poor little baby."
"Little?" Rainbow scoffed. Night silently agreed.
"Now this might hurt for just a second," Flutters warned the manticore as she took the thorn between her teeth and pulled. The beast took the yellow Pegasus in its paws and roared in her face, making her friends fear the worst.
"Fluttershy!" they yelled as Night pulled Inferno out and ignited it, the fiery blade extending out of the hilt. They all relaxed when they saw the poisonous feline licking her mane. She was giggling as it did so.
"Aw you're just a little ol' baby kitty, aren't you?" she asked it in a baby voice as it let her down. "Yes you are, yes you are." Her friends her walking past it and into the forest, and a majority of her mane was in the air as she rejoined them.
"How did you know about the thorn?" Twilight questioned.
"I didn't," Flutters responded, either not knowing or not caring that her mane was stuck at an angle above her head. "Sometimes we all just need to be shown a little kindness." Twilight smiled warmly at this explanation, while everypony else was distracted.
"Hey Night!" AJ yelled at the Dragonborn that was still by the manticore, both studying the thorn where it lay discarded on the ground, "Whatcha doin'?"
"There's something about this thing," Night called back as he tapped it with a hoof. The effect was the thorn morphed into a cloud of gas. The same gas that Nightmare Moon was able to turn into. Before he had a chance to be surprised, it zoomed towards the mountains they were on a few minutes ago, leaving a very angry Night Fury.
"I knew it!" he exclaimed as he walked back towards his friends, a scowl adorning his face, "Nightmare's trying to stop us from reaching the Elements."
"How do you know?" Twilight asked, secretly mad at him for figuring it out before her.
"I saw that Nightmare mist leave the ground that fell from under us after it collapsed," he explained, gaining worried expressions from the girls, "and the thorn that was in Manty's paw," he gestured to the retreating manticore behind him, "burst into the mist after I touched it..." his voice trailed off as a roar was sounded in the distance. It repeated every few seconds, getting louder every time until some dragons flew in from over the treeline and landed a few feet from them. Night identified them as a Snafflefang, a Hobblegrunt, and a Raincutter. "... and now she sending dragons at us." The said dragons were very agitated at the group of equines for a not so unknown reason, as shown when the Snafflefang started to launch a fireball at them.
"I'm too beautiful to die!" Rarity screeched as she braced herself. Luckily, she never felt the flames, as a certain sarcastic dragon-pony in between her and her friends and the ball of flames.
"No!" he yelled as he took the full power of the blast, which propelled him into the nearest wall of rock. He slammed into it, leaving an indent that was basically the outline of his entire body, tail and all, and fell down to the ground. The girls were shocked to see him get back up a few moments later, dust in his mane and a scorch mark on his chest plate. He walked back to his position between the mares and the dragons. He pulled on his helmet and sealed it as he told the girls, "Go."
"What?! We hay we will!" Rainbow yelled as stomped her hoof in protest.
"You guys are the only hope that Equestria has right now," Night stated calmly as he unhooked Inferno, "and I'm the dragon expert here."
"So? We ain't leavin' ya! An that's final!" AJ proclaimed as she got ready to charge.
"And we need seven ponies to activate seven Elements!" Twilight added as she charged magic into her horn.
Night sighed as he realized what he needed to do. He turned around and said, "I'll be right behind you."
Before anypony could protest, he yelled a word that they didn't understand, Fus, and the next thing they knew they were deep in the forest that leaded to the castle. Night fired Plasma Blasts at the rocks above the entrance of the valley they were just propelled from, sealing it off. He turned to the dragons, who were still hostile.
"Now, where were we?" He asked them as he ignited Inferno, the fire from the blade immediately catching their attention. He waved around in a circle above his head a few times, and slowly waved it in front of the dragons. By now, they were in a trance, a trance that shut down any control Nightmare Moon had in them. Night noticed the flames were dying down, something that could seal his doom, Nightmare Moon or not. To solve this, he popped out the Hideous Zippleback gas cartridge in Inferno's hilt, and quickly replaced it with one he had stored in a pocket on his right hind leg. He used the new cartridge to surround himself with the flammable gas. He ignited after a moment, concealing him in a wall of orange flame. He stepped out of the scorch circle after the flames left, his left hoof extended towards the Snafflefang in a sign of friendship. It pushed its snout into the hoof, accepting the friendship.
"See We can get along," he said as he started scratching the dragons under their chins, hitting the 'Knockout Spot' and sending them into a blissful sleep. "Just not right now, not when I have a job to finish." He launched off the ground and zoomed towards the direction in which he launched the girls, hoping that it was the direction in which the Elements were located at. He winced as he realized he used a Dragon Shout to get them away from safety, but shook his head clear of doubt when he knew that it was the right thing to do in that situation. Besides, they'd forgive him.
Probably.

A few minutes later
Castle of the Royal Sisters, Everfree Forest
/
After a few minutes of flying, he finally saw his friends, walking across a bridge to get to some ruins that he realized was the castle where the Elements of Harmony were located. He was about to dive down and reunite with them, but he decided against it. Nightmare could be anywhere, he thought as he entered the castle through a crack in the wall by the entrance, the mares not noticing him thanks to the darkness, might as well watch in the shadows while I still have the option.
He wandered through the cob web filled walkways between the rooms, before nearly coming face to face with Nightmare Moon again. He sent the blue protective lens back into his helmet for maximum stealthiness, and watched her. She was watching the room to their right through a crack in the wall, cackling softly. Night realized that it was the room that the Elements and his friends were in. Since he knew it wasn't the time to attack, he decided to listen in as well.
"Whoa," he heard Applejack say, "Come on, Twilight. Isn't this what you've been waitin' for?"
"The Elements of Harmony, we've found them!" He heard said purple mare exclaim, "Careful, careful!"
"One, two, three, four, five," Pinkie counted, "There's only six!"
"Where's the seventh?" Night heard a raspy voice asked, which he identified as Rainbow Dash's.
"The book said: When the six are present, a spark will cause the seventh Element to be revealed," Twilght explained.
"What in the hay is that supposed to mean?" AJ asked.
"I'm not sure," Twi admitted, "but I have an idea. Stand back, I don' t know what will happen." As those words came out of her mouth, Night saw The Mare in the Moon begin to charge up a spell in her horn. Now it was time to act.
"Nope, that's illegal," Night said, startling Nightmare Moon and interrupting Applejack. He brought his blue lens up, pulled down the face plate and fired a Plasma Blast at the wall right behind her, the explosive force throwing her through the wall in front of her and revealing herself to the mares in the room. "Twilight!" He yelled, pinning Nightmare to the ground, "Get the seventh Element out. Now!" Nightmare bucked him off her and into the ceiling, but he quickly recovered and charged her again.
"You're kidding," Nightmare said in disbelief as she caught him in a levitation spell, "You're kidding, right?" She threw him in another wall, but Night got up again. He shot a Plasma Blast at her, it detonating right in front of her face, distorting her, then gave a Roundhouse kick to her muzzle and sending her to the wall on her right. Nightmare retaliated by firing magical laser blasts at him in rapid succession, giving him no time to dodge and scorching his armor. All while the girls stared agape at the epic fight and Twilight laying by the Elements, repeating "Come on" as she showered them in magical energy.
"ENOUGH!" Nightmare yelled after a few minutes of fighting, taking Night in a levitation spell and skewering him on her horn, the sharpest thing on her body. He screamed in pain, the horn going through several major organs. He opened his eyes right and stared right into Nightmare's, giving her a look that would haunt her for the last few minutes of her existence.
"I'll see you in hell," he said menacingly. He planted his back hooves onto her face and launched off her horn. Unfortunately for Night, he put the last bit of his strength to get off the horn. Because of that, he landed on his side with a painful sounding snap, breaking his left front leg and sliding across the stone floor towards his friends, leaving a bloody skid mark on the ground
"Night!" They screamed as they rushed to his aid, only to be stopped by his shaking hoof. He slowly got back on his three- scratch that, two legs that were still working, throwing his helmet to the ground and showing his battle damaged face. He had a deep laceration on his forehead, and a bloody hole in his lower chest that was seeping blood at an unhealthy rate. He looked at them with a painful expression for a second, then turned to face the alicorn that injured him. She broke the Elements of Harmony right in front of a horrified Twilight.
"You little foal!" She yelled at her, "Thinking you could defeat me? Now you will never see your princess, or your sun! The night will last forever!" She then cackled so evilly at it would make Gotham City's criminals roll their eyes. Twilight was snapped out of her trance when she heard her friends shout words of encouragement and reassurance to her, saying stuff along the lines of 'we're here for you'. She gasped when she realized what it meant.
"You think you can destroy the Elements of Harmony just like that?" Twilight asked the Mare in the Moon, "Well, you're wrong! Because the Spirits of the Elements of Harmony are right here!" The shattered pieces of the elements by Nightmare's hooves began to float and zoom to the seven ponies
"What?" She said in confusion and disbelief.
"Applejack," Twilight began as she looked towards said mare, "Who reassured me when I was in doubt represents the Spirit of... Honesty!" Pieces of crystals started to orbit around the orange cowpony.
"Fluttershy, who tamed the manticore with compassion represents the Spirit of... Kindness!" The same thing happened to the yellow Pegasus.
"Pinkie Pie, who banished fear by giggling in the face of danger represents the Spirit of... Laughter!" The same thing- well, you get the idea, right?
"Rarity, who calmed a sorrowful sea serpent with a meaningful gift represents the Spirit of... Generosity!"
"Rainbow Dash, who could not abandon her friends for her own heart's desire represents the Spirit of... Loyalty!"
"And Night Fury, who stared death in the face and put his life on the line on two separate occasions for the sake of his friends represents the Spirit of... Courage!" Night shakenly got in the air as some crystals surrounded him.
"The Spirits of these six ponies got us through every challenge you threw at us!"
"You still don't have the seventh Element!" Nightmare Moon countered, "The spark didn't work!"
"But it did," Twi revealed, "A different kind of spark." She turned to her friends. "I felt it the very moment I realized how happy I was to hear you, to see you, how much I cared about you. The spark ignited inside me when I realized that you all..." She turned back to the dark alicorn. "... are my friends!" An orb with a strange rune appeared above them, specifically Twilight. Nightmare shielded her eyes from the harsh light.
"You see, Nightmare Moon," The purple unicorn continued, "When those Elements are ignited by the... the spark, that resides in the heart of us all, It creates the seventh Element: The Element of... Magic!"
The orb burst into a flash of bright light, it went away after a moment and revealed the reconstruction of the Elements of Harmony. The crystals that were going in circles around the friends formed necklaces that attached themselves to them, though to was a tiara in Twilight's case and a prosthetic tail fin for Night's. The friends hovered by each other in a group and produced a light, they're silhouettes being the only thing you could see in it. A pair of rainbow shot out of the top of the orb of light and launched a giant rainbow at Nightmare Moon (Taste the Rainbow, Motherfucker!). She screamed as it formed a rainbow tornado and enveloped her. In the light bubble, Twi opened her eyes and revealed the change from purple eyes to ones that were basically holy lamplights. A wave of light came out of them that covered the whole room. When it faded out, the mare and the stallion were laying on the ground unconscious. After a few moments, they came to.
"Ugh, my head," Rainbow groaned as she got up.
"Everypony okay?" Applejack asked as they all got up.
"Could of been worse," Night Fury said as he looked himself over. He immediately saw that the activation of the Elements must have healed his injuries, but scars were now visible, a reminder of what happened a few moments ago till the day he died.
"Night!" They all cried as they all (minus RD, who still hated him a little) gave him a big hug, knocking him to the ground.
"How are you all A-Okay after what that snooty pooty pants did to you?" Pinkie asked as they got up from the dog pile.
"It had to be something with the Elements' use," he hypothesized as he got up. His eyes immediately widened as he felt something different. "Wait..." He trailed off as he snapped his tail in front of him. His eyes widened as he saw a new fin on his tail. It was mostly black with an exact copy of his Cutie Mark emblazoned on it. The gears were also black, but still very shiny. He laughed as he moved his tail fins a little bit. "Looks like my Element has a sense of humor."
"It looks just like your Cutie Mark," Fluttershy pointed out.
"Hey, so does your necklace," Night revealed as she looked down, and saw that it was true.
"Ooo, look at mine, look at mine!" Pinkie cheered as she looked down at hers, a sapphire in the shape of a balloon.
"Oh yeah," Rainbow let out as she saw hers, a ruby molded into a lightning bolt.
"Gee, Twilight," Applejack stated as said mare observed her new tiara, "ah thought you were jus spoutin' a lot of hooey, but I recon we really do represent the elements of friendship."
"Indeed you do," a female voice said. They all turned and looked at the east window, where they could see the sun rising. Out of the sun came an orb of light that travelled down to them. When it collapsed, Princess Celestia, in all her majesty, was standing there. Everypony in the room bowed except Twilight and Night Fury, the purple unicorn because she had been told she didn't have to and the dragon-pony because he didn't feel like he had too, due to the fact that he's never been in Equestria during the present time.
"Princess Celestia!" Twi exclaimed as she ran up to the ruler of Equestria and hugged her, the alicorn returning the gesture.
"Twilight Sparkle, my faithful student," Celestia said as she enjoyed being back in the physical plane again, "I knew you could do it."
"But, you told me it was an old pony's tale," Twilight stated confusingly.
"I told you that you needed to make some friends, nothing more," Celestia admitted, "I saw the signs of Nightmare Moon's return and I knew it was you who had the magic inside to defeat her, but you could not unleash it until you let true friendship into your heart." She looked towards something at the end of the room. "Now if only another will as well." They all looked to where The Princess of the Sun was looking at, and were surprised to see a blue alicorn mare with a blue mane unconscious on the ground. "Princess Luna!"
The said mare opened her eyes quickly and gasped when her name was, as if she was just awakened from a bad dream.
"It has been a thousand years since I have seen you like this," Celestia said as she got on her knees in front of Luna, who looked down in shame. "Time to put our differences behind us. We were meant to rule together, little sister."
"Sister?" Everypony except Night Fury exclaimed.
"Come on, really?" He asked them, getting confused looks from the mares, "I told you an hour ago!" The royal sisters were ignorant to the scolding as they continued to have their first conversation in a millennium.
"Will you accept my friendship?" Celestia asked hopefully as she got up on all fours. Everypony leaned in as they awaited an answer. Apparently Pinkie Pie leaned in too far, which became clear when she fell flat on her face. Luna looked down for a moment, ears down, before running towards the larger alicorn with tears in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed as she embraced the Goddess of the Sun. "I missed you so much, big sister!" Celestia returned the hug with tears in her eyes too.
"I've missed you too," She said thankfully, happy her sister was back with her. Pinkie was dramatically crying and blowing her nose while this took place. Night didn't notice, as he took few small steps towards his mother.
"Mom," He whispered, though it was loud enough for the two alicorns to hear. Celestia gasped in complete and udder surprise and looked over, while Luna got out of the embrace and took a few steps towards the dragon-pony. "You're here, in Equestria," He whispered as he teared up. He then galloped over to her and pulled her in a giant hug, one she gladly returned.
"We're home," Luna said, her voice muffled by his body, "We're finally home." They stayed in that position for about a minute, while the six Element Bearers were tearing up, and only pulled apart when a quiet cough brought them back to their senses.
"Luna," Celestia broke the silence with a smile, "I never knew you had a son."
"Oh, sorry for not introducing myself by interrupting you during your speech, or when you were trapped in the frickin sun," Night responded with a grin. He bowed down. "I am Night Fury, son of Princess Luna of Equestria and nephew to Princess Celestia, apparently." He got up and flashed a smile. "At your service, Your Majesty."
"Now now," Celestia interrupted, "If we're indeed family, there will be no formalities at all." She trotted over to him and gave him a hug. "You shall refer to me as your Aunt Celestia."
"Okay, at your service, Aunt Celestia," Night corrected as he returned the hug. As she nuzzled him, she noticed that he was significantly warmer than most ponies she had come in contact with. She also felt what she believed to be scales on parts of his torso. But when she saw his Cutie Mark, a symbol she had seen in the past multiple times, was when she started to freak out.
"What sorcery is this?!" She asked as she backed off in panic. Night, along with everypony else in the room, looked at her with confused looks, but he stopped and changed his to one of understanding.
"Oh," Night let out with a guilty look, "Yeah, you're probably confused about that."
"Night," Luna said, who was the pony everypony thought knew what was going on, "What is this about?" Apparently, she was just as confused.
"Uh, hehe," He let out a nervous chuckle, "Would you be mad if I said it was about the Doctor?"
WHAT!?" Luna exploded, making the Dragonborn shrink in fear, "Are you telling me you went to Equestria's past, going against my ORDERS?!"
"In my d-defense," Night argued shakenly, "I wasn't the pilot, and he could have gone somewhere else instead."
Luna's scowl didn't change a bit. "Call him... now," she said darkly. Night let out a nervous sigh before nodding. He looked around the room, mostly at the corners, before pointing to the left one by the door.
"Is anyone here a doctor?" He asked loudly to nopony, confusing everypony (except Luna for an obvious reason) by the strange lingo and randomness of the statement. Suddenly, a light came from the corner be pointed to, and a alien looking box sated to fade in and out of existence, while a strange noise was heard. After a few moments, it was physically there, and the door opened, revealing a strange ape-like creature with a black leather jacket.
"I am!" He said with a northern Trottingham accent, while Night galloped over to him.
"Well then you're a nerd!" Night exclaimed as they high hooved, going into an embrace afterwards.
"It's been a while, Toothless," The creature said as it let go of the dragon-pony, "Now, when and where are w-"
"Get away from it Night Fury!" Celestia yelled as she charged up a magical laser and fired it, the beam heading straight for the new creature. The instant that happened, a red flash of light consumed Night Fury, and he was replaced by another strange creature covered in armor similar to his. It waved its hoof, or what the ponies present thought was a hoof, and a red barrier appeared in front of him. The bolt of magical energy was deflected and sent into the nearest wall. The creature waved its 'hoof' again and the barrier lept at Celestia and wrapped around her, trapping her in what she realized was Chaotic magic. The ape things walked over to her on two, the armored one had a metal one similar to Night's, and stared at her, the one in the jacket with a mock betrayed look. The armored one to its helmet off, revealing a face with a skin tone similar to the one that came from the box, green eyes, and shaggy brown hair, with braids behind the right ear in the same ways Night's was...
"Did I forget to mention I'm a Chaos Magic user?" It asked in Night's voice, producing a ball of red energy in its left palm, "Or the fact that me and my friend here are time travelers?" Everypony in the room (minus the Doctor, the bipedal creature, and Luna, of course) were slacked jawed, shocked by who they realized was Night Fury yet again.
"Maybe you should give them an explanation," the Doctor asked Night, who had released Celestia from her Chaotic imprisonment, "From the beginning, if you will."
" that is probably necessary at this point," Night said as he changed back into his original form. "Take a seat and be prepared for the mind bucking of a lifetime." He conjured up seven chairs in front of him, the Doctor, and Luna, and gestured for the ponies in the dark to sit down. They complied, Celestia still bewildered at the fact that she didn't recognize Night when she first looked into his reptilian eyes.
"Before we begin," the Doctor said, bringing all attention to him, "Do you all know that you cannot tell any living soul what we are about to tell you, right?" They all nodded wordlessly, and Luna cast invisibility and soundproof spells around the castle ruins. Once she was done, she began.
"This all began about twenty years ago," she began, "Ever since my sister banished me to the Moon, I came to see the wrongness of my actions, and made my peace with you, Celestia. Although it led to Nightmare Moon's loss of control over me, she was still in my mind. And every year, on the anniversary of my banishment, she tried to gain control of me again. While I to stop her every time, I nearly went insane from her efforts and the isolation."
"Luna, I had no idea," Celestia said softly, tears in her eyes, "I'm so sorry."
"None of it was your fault, Tia," Luna reassured her with tears also flooding her looking balls, "It was all that monster's fault, but she's gone forever." She regained her composure and continued.
"I nearly went insane until one night about seven centuries ago, when a blue box showed up in my bedchambers one night. It belonged to the Doctor." She gestured to the apelike creature to her right, "We quickly became friends and he visited me whenever he could, keeping my sanity in check for quite a while." She turned to her son, who was looking at her with a sad smile. "But his efforts were not enough, sadly."
The Doctor picked up where she left off. "Night comes into the equation about twenty years ago. I was visiting the Dragonborn village in Skyrein, where I had several friends that accepted me, when a group of Humans, sentient beings that came to Skyrein by unknown means, attacked and wiped them out." He gestured to Night Fury. "He was the only survivor." Everypony gasped at this, overcome with emotion. Luna took the reins once more.
"The Doctor rescued Night and brought him to me during his visit. He explained why he was late and who he had with him. I immediately asked if I could raise him, to which the Doctor agreed to on one occasion."
"If I went with the Doc on his adventures from time to time," Night finished with a grin. "He brought me with him when I turned ten. and I've been nearly everywhere and anywhere. From The Defeat of Discord, The Banishment of Nightmare Moon, and other events that are classified, for some reason. They all helped me to become the stallion I am today."
"Come on, you've had to been other places," Rainbow Dash interrupted, "Tell us everything!" Night looked to the Doctor for approval, and when he gave a thumbs up and a grin, he dived into more storytelling.
"Well," He began," The Doctor passed on an interest to me on the human race, whi-"
"Wait, humans are real!?" Twilight exclaimed, "I thought they were just legend!"
"Well, The Doc looks exactly like one," Night revealed, dropping the Mane Six and Celestia's jaws again. "Which reminds me, I better get you in your Equine Form again so you don't scare anypony else enough to attack you without warning." Celestia's ears drooped in guilt.
"I suppose you're right," The Doctor agreed, being consumed in a red flash courtesy of Night and reappearing as a brown Earth Pony with a brown mane, a bow tie, blue eyes, and an hour glass as a Cutie Mark. The other ponies sighed in relief.
"That's much more non threatening," Rarity commented, "and better looking." She muttered the last part quiet enough for everypony to not hear... except Night Fury. He flashed a smug grin to her, making her pupils shrink in shock and embarrassment, then continued.
"Anyway," He restarted, "Me and the Doctor share an extreme fascination with Humanity, and have been to every aspect of their history. From wars that engulfed an entire planet." That received gasps from the Equestrians. "The coolest music in existence, and," He looked Pinkie in the eye. "The biggest party in this universe's history." Pinkie gasped loudly, then looked at Night with a glare.
"How big are we talking?" She asked in a business tone.
"It took place across an entire planet and lasted about a week," He answered in the same tone.
"Challenge accepted," She shot back, then got back in her seat with her front hooves crossed. Night just shook his head and continued.
"We went to every aspect of Humanity's existence, and it spanned to other planets and involved many of species of sentient beings." This perked everypony's interest. "i learned a bunch form those experiences, and it helped me become stronger, physically and mentally."
"Wait," Rainbow stopped in, stiffling giggles, "Are you saying you used to be a runt?" Night looked at her with a deadpan expression, then nodded 'yes'. She burst into laughter, falling to the ground.
"Yeah," He confirmed verbally, "My cover name when we interacted with other beings was 'Hiccup', and I started to really grow only four years ago."
"How?" AJ asked, wondering how a former runt was able to beat her in a hoof wrestling match.
"Puberty," he said simply, making everypony in the room crack up, "and the fact that I took part in numerous months long survival situations and went through the most rigorous training in known existence." They all fell silent.
"Where were your survival situations located?" Celestia asked, fearing that one was at...
"Skyrein," He listed, confirming his aunt's fears, "A very deadly and war infested moon called Pandora, a zombie apocalypse, a nuclear wasteland, and the Mating Season of '54." They all cringed at the last one, where a significant proportion of the male population in Equestria was either killed, crippled, or made missing.
"Where did you loose your leg and your tail fin?" Twilight asked, in a slightly happy state of learning.
"I lost both in Skyrein in the same fight," Night answered, making RD interested at the word 'fight'.
"What'd you fight?" She asked excitedly, "A giant? A Minotaur with two battle axes? A giant Minotaur with two giant battle axes?"
"The Red Death," He stated simply, causing Dash's eyes to shrink to pinpricks.
"Th-that was y-you?" Fluttershy asked after a few moments, terrified of the mere thought of the cruel and legendary dragon queen.
"Wait," Twilight said, her eyes shut in concentration, "That was fives years ago, and you fought it while you were still... weak?"
"Yes," he answered, gaining a new found respect with everypony in the room.
"Wow..." Pinkie said for all of them, "I should throw you a 'You slayed a big mean dragon' party!" She exclaimed, making her friends' eyes roll.
"That won't be necessary," Night her, "As you should know, all the lands celebrated its death, including this one. All thanks to the 'Dark Dovahkiin'." He conjured up a clock, and winced at the time. "I think we've took enough of the time making the world's most sketchy explanation."
"I agree, Night," Celestia stated, "It has been over an hour already."
"Well," the Doctor spoke up, clapping his front hooves together, "I must be off. The Plastic Ponies can't be stopped by themselves."
"Be sure to visit, Doctor," Celestia called as he opened the blue box and stepped inside, "You seem to have quite the story to tell."
"You have no idea!" He called back as the box's doors closed and it faded out of existence in flashes of light.
"What's that box thing he uses?" Twi asked Night, eager to know the science behind it.
"The TARDIS, a machine that has the ability to travel through space and time," He explained, causing her jaw to drop to the floor for what seemed like the millionth time today.
"You two can talk about trivia and what not later," Celestia told them while wrapping a wing around Luna, "Now is the time to celebrate my sister's return!"
"You know what this calls for?" Pinkie Pie asked everypony present.
/
"A party!" Pinkie exclaimed, still heard over the sounds usually associated with parties; talking, cheering, and music.
"Pinkie, the party's been on for an hour," Twilight told her, "Why did you say that?"
"It was a scene change, silly!" Pinkie replied with a smile, as if it was a well known fact.
"...What?" Twi asked after a few moments, confused to no bounds. Meanwhile, Night was talking to the DJ performing on the stage, who was ironically the same DJ that was playing at his 'Welcome to Ponyville' party.
"I heard that you know 'the coolest music in the universe'," Vinyl Scratch, the unicorn DJ known as DJ Pon3, told Night Fury, "That true?"
"Yeah," he answered after a few moments of hesitation, "I picked up a good tune or two on my travels." Vinyl put a mischievous grin on her muzzle, making him instantly suspicious.
"Then show us," She grabbed a microphone on her DJ table with her magic. "Hey everypony!" She yelled into the mic, grabbing everypony's, including the Princesses, attention. "My good ole' pal Night here says he knows some of the best songs in the universe, and he wants to play them for all of you guys right now! Go for it, buddy!" He pushed him onto center stage, said dragon-pony, who was in his true form, to grumble and get prepared.
"I heard this tune while I was traveling in a classified location," He revealed, causing everypony in the crowd to chuckle. "Hope you like it." He created a band comprised of human clones of himself and several human woman with his Chaos magic, then turned into his human form. Everypony there would have been horrified of this, but his powers and past (Well, the parts that could be told without provoking a time paradox) were explained by Princess Celestia herself before the party started, so it wasn't met with much surprise.
"Three, two, one," He counted down, then the music began.
Jingle Jangle Jingle

There'll be not wedding bells for today"
The clones weren't playing instruments started to clap their hands in a pattern, but stopped when Night started to sing again.
"'Cause I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle

Night conjured a saxophone and began playing a solo. The solo was for very advanced players as it turned out, with many different notes changing in small amounts of time, but he apparently had you problem playing it. Everypony was enjoying the music, while Princess Celestia's jaw was on the ground.
"Did you know he could play so well?" She asked her sister.
"Why, yes," Luna replied, proud that her son was able to astonish a 1,200 year old Goddess, "This isn't even the best rift he's played on the saxophone."
"How come you know the new way of speaking Equestrian so well"?
"The Doctor, and later Night Fury, spoke that way, and while it took a few years, I managed to gain the hang of it." Celestia only nodded in acknowledgement and proudness as Night and his backups started singing again
"Oh, I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle

After the last note was played, the clones and their instruments began to disappear in puffs of smoke, leaving Night breathing heavily on the stage with a smile on his face. The crowd immediately burst into cheer for the song.
"Well, that was something," Vinyl said into the microphone as Night walked back over to her in his true form, "But I wasn't expecting such an oldie." He had an exhausted look on his face.
"You mean you were expecting something else?" He whined, making the crowd laugh.
"If you have something more modern, I'll let you take the stage one more time," She offered.
"You mean dubstep?" He asked, making some old timers in the crowd chuckle. Vinyl answered yes with a nod. "Fine, I do have a pretty good one, but none be warned that none of you will understand the meaning of it."
"We'll take our chances," She reassured, "Right everypony?" The crowd let out cheers as an answer. Night nodded as he disappeared in a flash of red and reappeared in another flash on the dance floor. He donned DJ headphones with a mic on the right speaker that beared his Cutie Mark on the sides, a beanie with his Cutie Mark on the front, and reflective aviators over his eyes. He was standing on a tall platform he made with his magic that had a small square of DJ equipment, along with speakers. On the side of the platform everypony saw had his DJ name emblazoned on it: Lightning_And_Death_Itself, inside a giant version of his Cutie Mark. There was wolf whistling and applauding in the crowd, clearly impressed by the equipment they thought he made, where in reality he made back in the Moon and just teleported to his location.
"Can you describe your song real quick so we can kinda understand it?" Vinyl asked quickly, making Night stop his preparations.
"Its about haunted animatronics trying to kill you," He said calmly with a smile, unnerving everypony in a little bit. He lifted up his left front hoof and pumped it to start the song.
Three, Two, One.
Five Long Nights - A Five Nights at Freddy's
Written, Produced and Performed JT Machinima
Night pressed a few buttons on his main console and a grandfather clock bell started, along with ominous sounds that were hard to describe. After a few seconds of that, the base dropped and he began the song.
"I just picked up a new job
But I'm hoping it ain't hard
After all it's the night shift
I'll be working the graveyard
Urban legends aside, I think I'll be fine
There's no way these things are alive
It's just a robot with nothing inside, right?
Not like I'm fighting to survive
What was that noise? Bonnie is gone
Honestly, my skin is starting to crawl
Something is coming, they're walking the halls
And now that my power is starting to fall
I'm sick of seeing all these sinister faces
Why am I working for minimum wage?
If I could be killed, they should give me a raise
Why did they hire me? This is insane!"
A quartet of humanoid animatronics, Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate Fox, in all their glory, descended from individual portals that resembled ones from Tarturus itself and began to dance to the song, which had transformed to kid friendly to dubstep, as promised.
"Enjoy your five long nights
Kick back and grab a slice
If you get hurt on the job
We cannot cover your loss
Just get to 6 and you'll be fine"
The animatronics went into what appeared to be shutdown mode as Night continued the song.
"What's with all these accidents happening?
And we're still in business? That is baffling
All these cameras had better be accurate
I can't imagine if they get their hands on me
Got a long past full of tragedy
What was the Bite of '87 actually?
Why does it seem like every damn event at Freddy's
Is no less than a massive catastrophe?
You don't need to reiterate your brevity
Of making sure I don't run out of batteries
Or they might reconfigure my anatomy
Adding me to the mechanical family"
The 'lovable' characters began to dance once more, to were beginning to glitch out.
"Enjoy your five long nights
Kick back and grab a slice
If you get hurt on the job
We cannot cover your loss
Just get to 6 and you'll be fine"
The stage went dark except for Night, who was now apparently talking to himself.
"Ok, 6 AM, rolling around any second now, come on
Let's do this, come on baby, I'm ready, Freddy!
Let's go 6 AM, don't got all night
Tick tock, tick tock!
Everybody just, uh, stay in your designated places
No need to come into the back office!"
The stage got back the regular light that filled the rest of the room, but the Fazbear Crew was nowhere to be found, making some ponies in the crowd nervous. It make matters worse, heavy footsteps and deep chuckles resonated through out the room the party was taking place in, frightening everypony, including Princess Celestia.
"Is this normal for him?" She questioned Luna anxiously, asking the question the female Element Bearers, the other ponies that were with them, were thinking.
"The Doctor has mentioned that Night has developed a skill and pleasure in scaring the daylights out of other ponies," Luna said, perfectly fine with the spooky things going on around her, "He will be a valuable asset to me come Nightmare Night." She rubbed her front hooves together like a villain plotting to take over the world. The others ignored this behavior as they listened to the rest of the song.
"I smell a foul odor
I think it's getting closer
I'm having hallucinations
How much longer till the night is over?"
Everypony in the crowd saw the words 'It's me' flash in their sight, along with images of Freddy with biological blue eyes covered in veins. The song continued as if nothing was happening.
"Maybe the place is haunted
And all they want is closure
But I really don't give a damn
I just wanna clock out and knock back a cold one"
A busted up Bonnie limped out from behind the platform, causing some ponies to scream in surprise and fright. His left arm was missing, with only a stump with wires spilling out of it left. The covering on the right hand was gone, revealing the shiny endoskeleton underneath, the same with his right foot. His face was torn off, showing the mechanics and wires underneath. The truly scary thing about this version of him, however, were the two red eyes visible through the wires. The song continued.
"But Chica's tweaking out"
A damaged version of Chica staggered from the same place Bonnie came from. Her hands were gone and replaced with wires spewing from the stumps. Her arms were damaged to look as if she were hanging on a cross, and her jaw was damaged to stay wide open, revealing to different sets of animatronic teeth.
"Now Foxy's peeking out"
Foxy ran over from stage left, the covering on his left ear and legs gone. His eye patch was flipped up, so both of his glowing eyes were visible.
"Freddy is creeping around
I'm losing my power just keeping him out"
Freddy walked over from stage right, and other than the majority of his surface covered in rips and wires poking out, was in the best condition out of the Fazbear Crew. What a shocker.
"Look at this article! Reading it now
Learning more info that's creeping me out
5 AM, I'm going steady
Now I'm screwed, IT'S GOLDEN FREDDY!"
A disembodied Freddy head, colored gold, appeared out of the platform's black surface. The fake eyes were gone and the right socket had wires flooding out of it, the jaw was limp, and the left ear was gone and replaced with a torrent of loose electrical wires of the red and blue variety.
"Enjoy your five long nights
Kick back and grab a slice
If you get hurt on the job
We cannot cover your loss
Just get to 6 and you'll be fine"
The destroyed animatronics shrieked and the Golden Freddy lunged at the crowd. Everypony present saw the words 'I'm still here' flash in their vision, then leave. Night's stand disappeared and he was left standing with all his headgear still on. They cheered at his performance, both the terrifying special effects and the music. Vinyl walked over to him, mic again in her magic, while he slid the headphones down around his neck and pocketed the aviators in his still damaged armor.
"Geez, that was intense!" She commented as he smiled at her reaction, "Got anything else?"
"Yes, but that is too be heard another day," He told them, getting groans form the crowd, "And you all saw the same thing and its true; The Freddy Fazbear Gang will be back soon, with some new friends." There was scared gasps in the crowd.
"Awesome," Vinyl mumbled into the microphone. "Alright everypony, that was the party; get out of here and continue on with life!" As everypony began to leave, Night shot out a window and into the sky. He looked around the air and saw multiple clouds in the midday sky. He zoomed over the most comfy looking, smoothed it out, and got ready to sleep. He had been up for about 24 hours, been impaled, and just sang two songs back to back.
In a word, he was dead tired.
As he closed his eyes, he reflected the day's events. He started with his morning flight on the Moon, and ended with starting a new life in Equestria. He smiled as he lost consciousness.
Today was a good day.
