The Trotting Dead
Chapter 1- What Happened?
Load Full StoryRays of sunlight flowed into the dusty room. My violet eyes fluttered open, then I jerked awake. Straining my ears, I listened for the sound of crap Telly, and smelled the air for hay fries and alfalfa bacon. My eyes widened in alarm. " Moooom? You awake?" With no reply coming from below, I reluctantly slid out of bed and walked to the door. Sine I slept in the attic, I just had to open the door, and the stairs were there. I knew each and every creaky spot, so I purposely applied my weight on every one. When I reached the bottom, still no reply was heard. I walked over to my parent's room, carefully and stealthily, and quietly opened the door, expecting my parents to be there.
Instead, there were two figures, one purple and one grey, who regarded my with watery eyes and drooling mouths.
"Mom? Dad? You feeling ok?"
Instead they made a rush at me. Instantly I closed the door, ran to the kitchen, and quickly grabbed a knife. I KNEW those things weren't my Mom and Dad. Well, I didn't take those self defense classes for nothing... I thought.
When they burst open the door, I was prepared and stabbed into their legs, slowing them down. Instead of the expected screams of pain, they just grunted and started moving toward me. I knew I had to kill them both, NOW. I went for their heads, and as soon as I plunged my knife into the pale, rotten skin, the skull broke and fragments of it and brains flew out out of the cut, splattering all over the wall.
Feeling disgusted, I waited until they looked like they were dead. I double checked, (safety first!)and to my relief, they were really and truly dead. I walked over to our sliding doors, opened one, and cleaned the bodies up by burying them in the backyard. Luckily we had a fence.
I trotted back inside and closed the door. I made sure everything was locked before ascending back up into my room. Since it was the attic, it had the highest and best view of the entire village. I walked over to the window and opened it. What greeted my eyes was shocking to me.
Ponyville was infested with walking dead. My eyes watered as I saw Lily Valley, a friend of mine, stumbling through the streets, looking for prey. I blinked the tears away, and scanned another part of town. Two poor ponies were being torn apart by, what should I call them.....
...trotters!!
As I saw the infested town, one thought throbbed in my head.
The apocalypse....has started.
