"Quit being chicken, and just jump already!"
My heart was beating out of my chest, as I stood at the edge of the cloud. I was easily a kilometer off the ground. My friend Easy Glide dragged me here. Today I was finally gonna fly, like it or not.
Of course I didn't, but it didn't really matter anyway.
"Dude, quit playing and fly me back!" I shouted, terrified. Unfortunately, when everyone else had gotten their wings, I decided against it, out of fear. It set me as an outcast, with everypony mocking my inability to fly. Even to high school.
"Just fly this little bit, and I'll take you back, I promise. I'll even catch you if you get too close to the ground!" Easy reasoned. I bet he was going to let me drop while he was laughing his plot off.
Just to be sure of myself, I checked the distance between my cloud and Easy's. It was reasonably short and would be just fine for gliding over, but I was certain I was gonna drop like a bag of dirt. I tried once more to talk my way out of it.
"You know this is ponynapping, right?" I questioned.
"Oh, please. You? I'd rather ponynap an anvil. Your heavier than an Ursa Major." Easy chuckled.
"I'm not that heavy!" I blushed, annoyed. I mean, I had a little bit of a belly, but I was still pretty lightweight.
"Tell that to the scale." Oh, that's it. I'm gonna strangle him.
"Why you-" I began to gallop over to him to give him a piece of my mind, until I remembered the gap between us. I dug my hooves into the cloud fearing for my life.
"Pleasedon'tletmefalloverpleasedon'tletmefalloverpleasedon'tletmefalloverpleasedon'tletmefallover!" I repeated, scrunching my eyes shut. I came to a sudden stop, and opened my eyes to see I was still on the cloud.
"Whew!" I sighed, grateful I didn't fall to my death. I looked over to Easy to say something, only to see he was gone. "E-Easy?"
"...duuuuuun dun, duuuuuun dun..."
"Easy, is that you? Quit it!" I looked frantically around to see where he was hiding. Where was he?!
"...dun dun, dun dun, dun dun, dun dun..."
I was freaking out. What was he doing?! "...I swear to Celestia, Easy if you don't come out, I'm gonna smack you!" I shouted out, pretty certain he was gonna ignore me.
"...dundundundundundundundundun!" Silence ensued, with me on the top of my nerves. Seriously, where was he?
"GOTCHA!" Suddenly I feel my hooves yanked into my cloud floor, unable to react. The sky rushes upwards and I feel wind splash against my face, as I'm sent into a spiral.
I'm falling.
...I'M FALLING.
"I'M FALLING!!! HEEEEEEEELP MEEEEEE!" I screeched, flailing my hooves, hoping to catch something to stop my horrific descent.
I twirl my body over to see Easy lift his head over the the edge of the cloud, wiping tears away from his face. "Open your wings and fly, dude!" He shouts to me as I continue my fall.
I'm too distracted with not turning into a pony-pancake. "CATCH ME YOU IDIOT!"
"You can do it!" He shouts again, giving me a reassuring grin. Wasn't reassuring in my situation.
I roll back into my previous position, seeing the ground to have come closer. I suddenly begin hyperventilating, and began to tug at my wings, which seemed glued to my body.
'I can't die! I never got to go to college or got a job or do anything with my life!' I needed to open my wings, now! Ground was close, probably only a few meters left of air before I met it.
With a little more tugging, I finally got one of my wings open.
...Not a good idea.
I began to spin and gain speed towards the ground. I was going to crash hard if I didn't open the other!
"I'm gonna diiiiie...!" I whimpered, hastily pulling at my wing, and praying to Celestia that it opens.
I might of peed a little too.
By a miracle, I finally lifted up my other wing, eventually straightening myself out. "Whew! That was close!" I sighed.
After my near-death experience, I relaxed and looked at my surroundings as I glided into what looked to be a sunset.
I actually felt...happy, finally knowing to fly. Well, I was gliding, but you know, it was a start.
I suddenly see Easy glide alongside me. "See man? You're doing it!" He beamed.
Might as well as enjoy the moment, I guess. I closed my eyes and let the breeze calm me. It helped, with the wind against my ears, and the fresh air flowing under my wings. It was amazing and-!
*WHAM*
"Agh!" I opened my eyes to see that I was stuck in a tree, and to see Easy dying with laughter.
"Maybe a little more practice!" He cried out, continuously rolling on the ground, holding his belly.
I realized something. I wasn't afraid of flying anymore. It was actually fun and a bit exciting, while still being relaxing as well. I'd do it again...
...But it hurts.
