It’s not often for Applebloom to go to the movies. It wasn't because her family couldn’t afford it, but after her scaring hallucination of Babs coming out of the silver screen kinda turned her away from the movies. But today she had no choice but to go, given the fact that it was her fellow Crusader Sweetie Belle’s birthday. Sweetie Belle had gotten three tickets from Rarity to go to the movies with her friends and she couldn’t be more excited.
“So, what are we seeing Sweetie?” Scootaloo asked as the three fillies approached the theatre. The theater was a small establishment, it wasn’t as grand or luxurious as the theaters in Manehatten or Canterlot, but for it’s Ponyville location it proved to be good enough.
“It’s a surprise! My sis told me about it a couple weeks ago. She thinks it’ll be something we all like!” Sweetie explained.
“Knowing your sister, it’s probably some cheesy chick flick.” Scootaloo joked, electing a small chuckle from Applebloom.
“Uh-uh! You’ll see, you’ll like it!”
The three crusaders trotted their way to the theater until meeting up with the ticket master in his booth.
“Welcome to the Ponyville theater, what will you be seeing today?” The stallion asked in his wimpy teenage sounding voice.
“Three for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs please!” Sweetie said as she handed the stallion her tickets. He checked each one, probably to see if they were legit. He gave a pleased smile and punched the tickets with the small punching tool and handed the tickets back to the three fillies.
“Theater number three, you’ll have to wait a couple minutes you’re a little early.” The ticket master informed.
“Oh that’s fine. C’mon girls!” Applebloom said as she led on.
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? So what is it like a fantasy or something?” Scootaloo asked.
“Rarity did say it was a fantasy movie. So yeah, I guess it is.” Sweetie replied.
“I’m just glad you invited us Sweetie.” Applebloom stated.
“Well who else would I invite? You two are my closest friends!” Sweetie said, making the other two girls smile.
After getting their popcorn and other refreshments from the concession stand, they entered the designated theater. Unsurprisingly, it was dark the somewhat large room. However it was near full, a rarity when it came to movies premiering in Ponyville.
Adults, and children alike crowded the theater, all waiting for the feature film to begin.
“This movie must be real good for so many ponies to come see it.” Applebloom whispered. Sweetie Belle seemed to have spotted three empty seats between Rumble, and Miss Cherilee.
The three young fillies climbed a short amount of stairs to reach their seats. They then settled in and waited for the show to begin. Sweetie Belle took the middle seat, Applebloom to her left and Scootaloo who sat on her right. An attempt to sit next to Rumble no doubt.
After a few minutes, the screen began to glow and unlike normal movies where there would be no color, the screen presented a bright blue screen. Seconds after, the top of whatever it was began to go down to reveal a grandiose looking castle, then a bright light shortly appeared below the castle revealing the words,
Walt Disney Pictures. An orchestra playing in the background as it all happened.
With that, the film began and opened to a title screen that read,
A Walt Disney Feature Production.
Then a transition to the main title of the film. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The S and W of Snow White being in light blue.
From that point on, Sweetie Belle, Applebloom, Scootaloo, and the other ponies that watched along would witness the birth of something amazing. However, they would never know how large and popular this Disney thing would get.
This was the beginning of the Disney rule over Equestria.
~***~
The film had ended and the theater was silent. Not a peep or a breath could be heard, until the clopping of hooves on the floor could be heard. Everypony, literally, everypony stood and applauded the film they had just witnessed. Not only was it in color, something that was rarely seen in film, but it was something ponies have never seen before. A full length animated feature! The first of its kind.
Soon after everypony finished applauding they all began to file out of the theater, chatting and random muttering came from the crowd of ponies that left the theater. The ones left remaining were left with their thoughts about the movie. Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom stood and watched the screen, thinking that maybe there was something extra. They were surprised to find out that there was something coming back onto the screen.
The crusaders and whoever else was left in the theater watched in amazement as a bipedal creature that the ponies guessed to be a little girl began to speak excitedly. She stood next to something covered by a blanket.
“I’m sure all the boys and girls in the whole world are going to be very happy when they find out the daddy of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Mickey Mouse, Ferdinand and all the others, is going to get this beautiful statue!” She pulled the blanket off what it was covering to reveal a standing column looking object with seven smaller versions of the object. The young girl seemed even more happy when the small statues were revealed.
“Isn’t it bright and shiny? Aren’t you proud of it Mr. Disney?” A taller male creature stood next to the girl. He smiled at the statues before him as he answered the little girl.
“Why I’m so proud I might just bust!” The girl chuckled at this Disney creature’s comment. With that, the screen faded to black and the lights of the theater turned back on. The ponies who stayed were surprised and confused.
What were those things on the screen? Who was Mr. Disney and the little girl? The Crusaders guessed that Mr. Disney creature was the creator of the movie they had just seen.
With nothing else playing, the girls decided to leave the theater. None of them couldn’t stop talking about what they had just seen.
“That movie was amazing! I loved the parts with the singing!” Sweetie cheered.
“But what were those… Creatures? The characters in the movie looked like the same creatures Mr. Disney and the girl were. What are they?” Applebloom asked.
“I don’t know Bloom, but I do know that the movie was really good! And I can guess those little statues that Mr. Disney creature got were prizes of some kind. The girl did say he got them for making the movie and something called Mickey Mouse.” Scootaloo stated.
“Yeah, that’s another thing. Who’s Mickey Mouse?” Applebloom asked.
“Probably another cartoon, all I know is that was the best gift ever! I hope that Disney creature makes more soon!”
Then Applebloom commented,
“Ah have a feelin’ he will be.”
