My name is Sarah Martina. I am...well I was a collage student, chasing my dreams of becoming a great architect, until it happened...
I was making a deposit at my local bank when all of a sudden...
"Alright, everybody on the ground!" A large muscular man, in all black roared in a deep voice. By the sound of the accent he seems to be Russian. He raises his right hand, revealing a silver pistol of some sort, with a silencer on the end. He fires a single shot, declaring he means business.
On instinct, I turn around to see what the commotion was about. Upon seeing him, I immediately crounch down, as two more figures walk in, one being female. Everybody follows suit as if it were a game of Simon says. But if you break the rules, the cost is your life.
The three of them make their way to the counters, aiming their guns at the clerks, demanding all the money. And after that was done, they had them come around to the front so they don't press the button, alarming the authorities, which they did as they came in. Their hopes were crushed as the sound of sirens blaired in the distance.
"We got cops!" Said the female, as the sirens get louder every second.
"Of course we got cops! The sons of bitches pressed the button!" The large one snaps.
"Yeah, now let's go!" Said the smaller male. "Do your thing." He says to the female.
"With pleasure." I watch as she reaches into a pocket, and pulls out a pistol similar to the Russians, but hers lacks a silencer. Three shots are heard, as well as the splitting skulls of the three female clerks. The sound of the guns firing so close to me, made my ears ring, and the ear drums pounding in agony.
Suddenly, I am grabbed by the sleeve of my white shirt, and I am yanked to my feet. "Get up!" Barked the Russian. I almost trip, trying to keep my balance. I feel the hot end of a barrel, as He puts his gun to my head, burning my scalp. I'm lead out into the outside winter world. New York squad cars surround the front of the building, as well as a police chopper, and a news helicopter.
"He's got a hostage!" Shouted one of the cops, as they take cover behind their car doors, guns drawn.
My whole body trembles with fear, since this might be the day I lose my life. The bitterness of the cold bites at my cheeks, pleading for warmth.
"We are taking the girl, and the money! If you follow us, she will be shot!" The Russian roars. He tightly grips my hair, bending me over, as he leads me down an alley way. Now I feel like a Siberian inmate, except in not in uniform, and I don't have any cuffs on me.
At the back of the building a black delivery van awaits, as they toss me inside through the side door. The female climbs in after me, as the two males take the two seats. Little did I know, that when they shut the doors, it would be the last time I would see the light of freedom for a long time.
As we drove, the female had ordred me to undress and get into her clothes. Luckily she was wearing more casual attire under her black clothing. I did as I was told, and after sometime, we were driving through a parking ramp, and the female took the seat as the smaller male was taking his clothing off, also wearing causal clothing underneath.
We come to a stop, and the smaller male, and female exit the van, and they drive off in a blue sedan. That leaves me with the Russian, who orders me into the passenger seat, gun pointed at me, as we drive oh of the parking ramp.
Even though the cops aren't following, he speeds around back streets, and more alleys that the van can fit through. It would be hard to drive through the taxi flooded roads in this thing. I stare out the window, seeing the news chopper following high in the air.
"Dont worry. I ain't gonna kill you. It's empty anyway." He says, taking the clip out of the gun, and tosses it into my lap.
"Can you just let me go?" I plead, my fear continues to grow on me, as we zip around corners, tires squealing.
"As sweet and pretty you are, I can't do that. You've seen what I look like. Also, can you grab that gun for me?" He points to the gun on the floor the female left behind. "That one is empty too, so don't get smart. Just hold it as if you were going to shoot it." He orders.
I nod, taking the gun into my hand, for the first time in my life, wrapping my fingers around the grip, and forefinger on the trigger. I stare at it, just wondering what their plan must be.
After he drives us out of the city, we're headed down a windy road, trees to each side, as well as mound of snow that have been pushed to the side. The chopper stopped following at the city limits, and turned back around, leaving us be.
"This is my stop." He says, as we reach a hairpin turn, with a red jeep parked on the side of the road.
He turns left with the turn, unable to make it, due to the slippery road. He opens his door, and jumps out, leaving me inside, as the van busts through the fence, falling down a short cliff, landing with a crunch. Due to inertia, my head flung forward, hitting the dash, knocking me out cold.
When I woke up, I was in a hospital bed with no memory as to what happened. Then it was onto court, after I recovered to a reasonable state. Then it was off to the slammer for me. I had been charged with murder, armed robbery, resisting arrest, and kidnapping. Of course I had no idea what happened, so all of this was a sudden blur to me. Waking up battered and weak, then to be thrown in prison, for a crime I didn't commit.
So, here I am now, three months before my twenty year sentence is over. My dreams ruined. A quarter of my life wasted. And stuck in a cold cell, with a cot for a bed, chipped wall paint, and a dim light. Just so a few crooks could get their hands on some extra cash. But why make it so I would look like a criminal? I have no idea. I just want to go home.
My parents and I have been writing back and fourth throughout my sentence, getting me to remember who I am, and things like that, now it's mostly the same old "I love you, can't wait to see you again" crap. It made me happy at first to know my parents miss me, and all, but it got old, so I started making excuses why I can't write anymore, to them. I haven't now for about a year.
I stare into the plastic mirror on my wall, wondering who I am. My once long blonde hair, is now short, and pointed towards the top, like that chick from that "Bulletproof" music video. Similar, anyway. My ocean blue eyes crown my freckled cheeks.
I'm a skinny white girl, and I'm not really that tall, or pretty looking.
Just the other day, I had gotten a letter from mom saying how people had been waking up to find they've been turned into ponies, along with the lovely dovey stuff. I just passed it off as my mom wanting some attention. Besides, she and dad are visiting me today, so what's the big problem? Oh yeah. It happened to me. That's just great.
I woke up to find myself half pony, and still changing. My hair changed to look like Cloud's, as well as a tail. My feet had become hooves, and fur was covering my legs, and arms, where my hands became hooves as well. You could say that was a rude awakening.
You think prision life is hard, how every where you go, you got to watch your back? Being confined twenty four seven, forced to eat food that looks like pig slop, and you didn't do anything wrong!? Well, this morning, waking up as a pony just added to it.
Even though the show ended a while back, I was still a fan of it, and I happened to turn into Cloud Kicker! My parents never knew my love for the show, because I felt they might not think the same of me if they knew, but now, I find myself of as a background pegasai character. I would like to say having wings is cool, but I can't fly in this small room. All I can say is that Discord is responsible for this.
I'm laying on my bed, patiently waiting for visiting time, just thinking of how my parents would react to me. I stare at my light, bluish purple hooves, seeing how there used to be hands there. I guess Karma really hates me for some reason, but I don't know what. I saw fur the same color as my new hooves slowly begin to engulf my body, as I began to shrink. Within a shirt time, I was left, a small Pegasus equine character from My Little Pony. It didn't take long for me to find out I had become Cloud Kicker.
I gaze around my room, or cell, rather, seeing the chipped white and blue wall paint, the cracked tile flooring, and the ceiling light, has sly able to serve me any light. To think I went from making a deposit of money at my bank, now I'm here because of some criminals.
After a while, my cell door is heard being fiddled with. I turn my head to see a guard standing in the door way.
"You have visitors." He deadpans, with a straight face, showing no expression. When they found out about me, they decided to go along with normal procedures, since my sentence is almost over.
He mentions for me to follow, and leads me down a few flights of stairs, and down many halls, and corridors, with wailing prisoners, pleading to get out. Another minute or two, we get to a door down a long, white hall, and motions for me to go through. On the other side of this dark Oakwood door are my parents, who I haven't seen in four long years. For some reason, I don't know, they couldn't visit me up until now. Why did it have to be today?
I let out a deep sigh, and walk through. I search the large, cement room, for my parents. The sound of my clipping hooves is the only thing I hear among the random chitter chatter around the room. There are tables everywhere, a few occupied with people enjoying their to together. I continue to trot around the room, searching for my parents.
"Sarah?" Said a soft voice. I turn my head to see an older woman, with curled blond, almost white hair, and next to her is a black stallion, with a blue, mohoawk mane, and two wings on his back. I immediately recognize him as Thunderlane.
"Mom? How...how did you know it was me?" I'm trembling with fear again, my whole body is shaking.
She says nothing, as she gets up, and kneels in front of me, placing a hand on my cheek."A mother never forgets her daughter." She says soothingly with a small smile. "It's been so long." She wraps her arms around me, and pulls me into a hug. "I've missed you so much!" She hugs me tighter, as she begins to sob into my shoulder, and stroking my mane.
"I missed you too, but where's dad?" I ask, hugging back.
"Right here." Said the black stallion. "I don't see why we're here. She's a criminal. Next thing you know, she's going to blast your head off." He scoffs, crossing his forelegs.
"I was framed!" I snap at him. "They took me, and made me wear that sluts clothing, then they left me in the van, barreling down a hill, to my tucking death, then I get stuck here for twenty years, just to hear you call me a CRIMINAL!?" I shout, tears have begun to stream down my face. "I have been waiting for this moment for so many years, just to hear you say that!?"
I notice the guards around me have taken attention to my ranting, and have pulled out their batons in case things get physical.
"Now, Sarah, calm down! We're supposed to be happy!" Said mom, her hands on my shoulders.
"Then he can leave!" I shout, pointing a hoof at dad.
"This wouldn't be a problem, if you hadn't robbed that bank!" He yells, pointing a black hoof at me.
"Well, if the cameras weren't defective, right before the crime, I was told, you would see I didn't do it!" I snap back at him.
"Sure, whatever. That's why you were found in the van that took off from the scene, with a stash of money!"
"They kidnapped me! The guys jumped out of the van bfire the curve, and I was left inside!"
"Ben, please leave. You don't want to be here, and she doesn't either, so leave, if all you're going to do is make trouble!" Mom barks.
"Fine." He grunts heavily, and flaps his wings, making him airborne as he flies out of the room.
"So how are things?" She asks nervously, fiddling her fingers.
"Wish I were dead."
"Oh, don't talk like that, sweetie! Your sentence is almost over!" She beams, smiling widely.
"And I leave to go back to what? Not having a penny to my name, not going to be able to get a job with murder on my record. I will have to start college all over, which won't happen, just like with getting a job." I sigh. "I guess, at least here, I get free food, and a roof over my head. That's why I said what I said. It sucks really had here, and that's the best I'll get. Now I have to deal with being a pony. Just my luck."
"Sarah...you could live with me and your father again." She pleads, clasping her hands together.
"No. Dad hates me now because he thinks I did all of that. Plus, I know how you guys don't make much money, and I wouldn't want to be a big east of it, since I won't be able to fend for myself."
"Are...are you saying you want to stay here?"
I nod twice with a long sigh.
"I just hoped we could share our last moments together." She says sadly.
"What do you mean by last moments?"
"Me and your father...we found out two years ago that I have breast cancer. Just a month ago, I was told I have five months left. That means we'd have a month, after you get out, to spend time together. I'm sorry."
I don't know what to do. I've never been one for these things. All I can think of is to hug her tight.
"I'm sorry we never visited until now. Your father was stubborn, and never let me go, nor would he come. So he finally brought me today."
"But...I don't want to lose you mom! I...I was rebelious against you guys, and was never the best child, now I won't be able to make up for it!"
"Sarah, dear. You were the best thing ever given to me." She smiles. "I've always cherished my moments with you, you have nothing to be sorry for."
"I know. Thanks mom. So, what's causing this anyway?" I ask curiously, giving a tilt of my head, feeling my new ears droop down.
"I'll show you." She reaches into a pocket, and pulls out a phone.
Unlike any I've seen before. The phones I know of are small, bulky, and have either small plastic buttons or the one with that circle thing you spin to put in the numbers. Hers is wide, not very skinny at all, but so thin, it's got to be impossible, unless aliens designed it. On the back of the white phone, it says 'Galaxy S6' in silver letters.
"You don't know how much technology has advanced while you've been here." She says as she turns thphone to face me. A video is going, but it sounds, and looks so real! She presses the play button.
"We've been getting a few reports of people claiming to have seen what happen to be ponies? From the hit cartoon, My Little Pony: Friendship is magic. We've also been getting reports about people who claim to have turned into some of the characters." She says, as what looks like another smaller video on the upper right hand corner. "Although, this is rather hard to believe, it's happening worldwide. Some say they woke up as ponies, other said they experienced a transformation from human to pony. It can happen to anybody at anytime." She continues, going on about how scientists are trying to see if there is a reason for this, and hospitals seeing if it's contagious.
"Now we go live to a press conference where these two ponies claim to be Lauren Faust, the creator of the show, and Tara Strong, one of the cast members from the show."
Then the screen changes to where there are two alicorns on a podium, with microphones held out in front of them, and boomers, and what not. These two alicorns happen to be non other than Princess Luna, and Princess Celestia. Celestia, the sun goddess herself, steps forward, and clears her throat.
"I'm getting straight to the point. Please believe me, when I say that I am really Lauren Faust, and she" she says pointing a golden shoe'd hoof at Luna. "Is really Tara Strong. We understand if you don't believe this, but it will soon be hard to not believe it, when soon, there Wil be so many people in the near future who have changed like we did." She explains as her rainbow mane flows with the non-existent breeze of wind.
"As of right now, there is another out there...turned into a pony, like we are." Said Luna/Tara. "This will continue to happen, unless we figure out the reason why it has started, and put a stop to it. We can only assume Discord is responsible for this." She finishes with a nod of her navy blue head.
"If you find yourself turned into an element of harmony, we need you to come to New York. It may seem wrong to have this forced onto you, but it's our only hope. For the good of earth, and Equestria, since it actually exists." Said Lauren with a deep sigh. "For those of you who have changed, stay strong, as we can only hope for the better at this moment."
"If this is Discord's doing, then there is no telling when he might stop, if he does. Unless we stop him, this will continue to happen, as more and more people will become ponies, and this, we are truely sorry for."
"This is why we depend on those who have turned into one of the mane six. It's the only way. It may seem impossible, but it's our only hope." Said Celestia/Lauren. "Thank you, and no further comment." She says in a sad expression, hanging her head low as she and Tara exit the podium.
"Wow, that's insane! When was this?"
"About two months ago." She says, placing her phone back in her pocket.
"At least I'm not an element of harmony! That would suck."
"I assume it would." She chuckles, smiling a bit.
I'm about to say something else until,
"Alright, visiting time is over!" And with that, me and mom hug, and say our goodbyes.
Sadly, that was the last time I saw her. Just before I got out, her cancer got the best of her aging body, and she passed away. I was able to make it to her furneral, to watch the burial. Seeing that casket, containing my mother lifeless body, was the hardest thing I've ever gone through, as they buried her. The rain was pouring, and cries of a lost loved one wail through the air.
Elsewhere, Discord was watching, through a magical hologram, enjoying playing with people's lives.
"Ah, it feels good to be me." He sighed happily.
Whenever he felt there wasn't enough ponies to go around, he'd simply cast a spell, causing more random people to go through the same fate of being transformed into ponies.
"Why try messing with Equestria, when these guys don't know what's hitting them!?" He cackles, fisting his hands in triumph. "What do you think?" He turns his head to face a changling tied up against the cave wall. Being Discord, he caught this one from the attack on the canterlot wedding, as they were retreating.
Although, this one was different. As to where every changling's were black with blue eyes, wings, and tails, this one was black and pink. It was quite the rare catch, and since he felt he needed a friend, he took her into captivity. It only shrugs in response, due to its mouth being covered by a thick cloth.
"Oh, what would you know anyway? You're just a pathetic excuse for a changling." He snickers, running a hand over it's leathery mane.
It scrunches up its face in anger, mumbling obscenities through its muzzle. By muzzle, it's a the kind that you would put on dogs to keep them from barking.
"Oh, what was that?" He asks, removing the muzzle from its muzzle.
She smacks her jaw a bit, easing the tension on the muscles from being held in the same spot for so long. "You're a total jerk, and once queen Chrysalis gets a hold of you, she'll have no- mffmngh umgh mff!" She snaps, until Discord places the muzzle back on.
"My dear, your queen and her army weren't enough to stop Twilight and her friends. As to where, I was more powerful than they could imagine. Yes I got turned to stone, but that was only because I let them. Now, back to the fun!" He muses, resuming watching the chaos he brought upon the earthlings. "Care to join?" He reaches an arm around the back of the changeling, pulling her close to him, and with a snap of his lion fingers, a bowl of well made pop corn appeared in his lap.
He once again removes the muzzle from the changling. "I'll keep this off as long as you promise to behave." He chuckles, shoving some pop corn into the changlings mouth. She'd never had it before, but boy did it taste good!
"Wow that's good!" She exclaims. "So...is all Equestrian food good, orwhat? Because we changlings don't eat that stuff."
"More or less." He simply says, as he resumes stroking the changlings mane, which she hated at first, but soon grew to enjoy it. Even though Discord is a jerk, he at leasts treats her better than she does at the hive. Except for the being tied up part.
"Thanks, anyway, Discord." She says with a small smile.
