The Purple Shadow
Chapter 1 - You expect me to roll over and die?!
Load Full Story'So, this is how I die, huh? I've been raped, almost fell off a tall building, and ran into burning buildings, yet this is how I die? Falling out of a freaking portal! And crashing into a forest! ... It is a pretty cool way to die.' I close my eyes, as my life flash before my eyes for the second time in such a short period. Just a few minutes ago, I was shot in the head, and struck by lightning, giving me the powers of a 'Cosmic King' which is basically defender of this area of the multiverse. So now I'm a teenager who can blow up planets with a sneeze... if my powers also didn't come with a beginner's manual seared into my brain.
I cough out a bit of blood, as I try to take one last peek at my mangled body. My arm was laying a few feet away from me, a bloody mess. My clothes were soaked in my blood, and it tatters, and my ribs and shattered sternum were showing. My legs were pointing in ways that should be impossible. I cringe at the sight, before laying my head down, and accepting my fate.
As everything started to fade, my muscles quickly tensed up, as I remembered something. Why I was killed in the first place. My eyes shot open, and my body starts convulsing. 'I have to get back to my world! My friend is there, and I won't let him think I'm dead!' A new arm burst out of my right shoulder, as my legs cracked into place, and my chest expanded, shoving the bones back into their right places as my blood vessels fix themselves.
I shoot up to my feet, in time to hear a very quiet voice coming up. Tensing, I grabbed the remains of my previous arm, and run in the opposite direction, farther in the forest. When I'm sufficiently far enough away from my impact site, I looked down to my torn up arm, and toss it into a storage dimension I quickly claimed. After that was taken care of, I looked up to the sky, and noticed my fading contrail. My best bet so far on finding my way home, was getting to the point that was weak in the universe, so I could quickly rip back open the tear.
It appeared the portal I fell through was up ahead, so I started running the right direction originally. I kept running, until I was right below it, and I jumped onto a tree, and used the leaves as a jumping pad, as I launched myself into the air, jumping higher than should be possible. When I reached the place where the portal opened, I managed to stop myself, and I was covered in a purple energy that seemed to keep me afloat.
I reached my hands out, and filled them with some of that purple energy, and managed to re-open that tear, before I quickly closed it. 'The crap did I just see? That was not the same tunnel I went through.' What I saw was basically every single monster god H. P. Lovecraft ever created, having a giant... sex party. 'That memory is going to be sooo repressed.'
After repressing the memory, I heard voices coming my way, and quickly dropped to the ground, wincing at my legs breaking, before they quickly healed, and I continued running north. 'So, that didn't work. Gonna have to try plan B. Plan B; create plan C and hope that plan C will work.'
I kept running for about an hour and I luckily came across a stream. I fell to my knees, and started drinking a quick fill of water, before removing my bloody shirt, and soaking it in water, before rubbing my hands together really fast, and managing to remove all the blood on my shirt. Then I did the same with my pants, and set them out to dry. I may have all this power, but I don't seem to have fire powers, and I don't want to use lightning on them, as that could turn them to ash. As they were drying, I looked at my blood staining the water, and sighed, before bending down, and touching the water with my hand, instantly purifying it.
I stood up, with a small smile on my face, glad I was helping the environment, before I heard a low growl coming from behind me. I spun around, to see a bunch of... timberwolves. I'm not joking. Timberwolves. Literally. Made of wood and everything. The pack started coming out from the trees, and I fired a lightning bolt at them, which bounced across all of them, instantly turning them to ashes. 'Jerks.' I muttered under my breath, as I gently tap a nearby tree, and grab the fruit it dropped, before devouring them.
Hearing another growl, I turned to see a manticore. ...Why? Why is there a freaking manticore?! I look at it's fur, before realizing something. 'I'm going to need something to cover my identity. I don't know what the people of this world look like, so I could stand out.'
An hour later, I was continuing my trek north, now with clean clothes, and a tan cloak covering my body and head. I didn't come across any other creatures, even though I could sense them nearby. Better for them anyways. Taking another step forward, I quickly move my head down, so I wasn't blinded by the sun, as I finally was able to leave the forest, and appeared to be in some kind of dead field, as the grass was all brown.
There were rocks every once in a while, and they got progressively larger, until they reached a large mountain with a path cut out of it, leading up to some sort of kingdom. I lift my shoulders up for a second, making sure my backpack (which I made from the leftover remains of the manticore's skin, and filled with the meat I took from it. I was able to do some ancient preservation spell on it, not wanting to just chuck it into a pocket universe) was still there, and not broken or anything. I would have used a pocket dimension, but if i looked like a traveler, who didn't have a singe thing on him, that would arise suspicion.
I quickly check to make sure my hood covered my head, and disguised me, before continuing forth, planning on heading to the mountain city. I might find some way home there.
