Chapter. 1 Enter Azure Phoenix. The guy that is bored with life and wants to go on an adventure!
"God damn it Carl!" yelled Azure Phoenix from the male lavatories across the hall. Carl didn't care that he took all the hot water from the talisman during his weekly super shower. He was more concerned with the book he was reading, about a lusty maid and her mistress. Azure Phoenix; a light blue stallion with a flame-like azure mane, a strong stallion and captain of the Platinum guard, stormed out of the lavatories annoyed that his shower time would have to wait.
Azure walked to his wooden bunk glaring at Carl for his inconsideration to his personal hygiene. Carl; a caramel colored stallion with a dark brown mane, didn't care of the glaring death beside him. He was more interested in his book. Azure quickly gave up from his attempted intimidation to his fellow squad mate and got ready for another day of patrolling around Platinum castle. As Azure was putting his silver barding on with practice ease, the rest of his squad roamed their way in the bunk room, clean and in a much better mood than him.
The first to walk on in was Jester Rabbit, the joker of the group. Azure didn't mind his bright gray friend and his clearly damp thunderhead mane most of the time. His joke's always made a smile, especially during the much more boring day's, but sometimes his joke's go too far. At least he knows's how to fix his screw up afterward, unlike the stubborn HardLight who was next to walk in. Azure knew he was slightly jealous of the more muscular two-toned golden stallion, but he never let it control him. Azure knew that Hardlight could easily beat him in a fight if it was his way of only muscle against muscle.
The last two of the group to make their way back were the girl's; Falcon Song and Cresent Moon. Azure couldn't quite understand why Falcon was so interested in Moon. Not because she wanted to be a thing or anything. To him, it seemed like those two were always with each other. The poor private must see something in the pure white mare with her luxurious black mane and seductive blue eye's. Whatever it was, he doesn't want it. Even though, he wants it. Azure shook his head from the mares to his second in command Hardlight who looked like he had something to say, which he always does.
"Jeez Captain, dressed already?" mocked Hardlight while leaning against the wall beside the cracked window of the bunk house. Azure made a self-reminder to get someone to repair the window later. In Equestria, glass was not cheap, it was much cheaper to hire a repair stallion than to replace the window.
"I had nothing better to do. Carl took the last of the hot water and I am not waiting four hours for it to recharge," replied Azure.
"Suck's to be you then cap," shrugged Hardlight.
"Whatever," said Azure.
Cresent Moon and Falcon Song moved to their own bunks and put their barding on while Jester and Carl both read the book Carl was so keen about most of the time. Falcon couldn't understand why any decent stallion would like such filth to invade their minds and make them think of rutting whatever moved that was a mare. At least she knew that Captain Azure wouldn't let his mind be tainted in such a way. Falcon knew that fact for sure from the day they met.
"Whatcha thinking about?" asked Moon smacking Falcon out of her daydreaming. Falcon shook her head in a daze and quickly made up a lie.
"Nothing important," Falcon coughed. "Just thinking how boring the day is going to be."
"Same," Moon said not believing her obvious lie. Moon knew that she admired Azure from afar and that when she starts to think about him, she can't think about anything else.
"Everyone ready?" Called Azure Phoenix.
"Yes sir," Moon, Falcon, Hardlight, Jester, and Carl said in unison.
"Then let's go,"
Sending the guy's off to their posts was part of my daily routine as captain of the guard. Falcon, Hardlight, and Jester were responsible for the main gate into Canterlot while Carl, Moon and I were in charge of sorting out all that come through the main gate. It was a nice and peaceful routine and also, a very boring one.
Everyday ponies from across the new land of Equestria flowed in and out of Canterlot hoping for fortune and fame. To get a solid spot beside Platinum castle. Unfortunately, not all make it though and even more don't pass the front gate due to the princesses rules for newcomers.
I sat here everyday underneath the metal gate between my home and the world looking out to the vast unexplored where I used to play as a foal. Where I trained to become a member of the royal guard and it sucks.
"Sigh~"
"What's up buttercum?" Snarked Cresent Moon. "Ya look more sappy today than normal."
"I bet," I replied.
"Well, Azure. This is the life we choose, so suck it up cause there is a caravan coming."
"Yeah, yeah I see them."
I got up and signaled to the other's to ready their weapons as a, "just in case" while I, Moon and, Carl approached them to see what they are carrying. Putting aside my ill contempt for my life choices, I took a survey of the four wagons coming to the gate. They all look fairly beaten up, the one in the back carried by a young earth pony looked like the worst of the lot. Something must have happened on the way here judging by the expressions on the leaders faces, that, and the only two guards carrying makeshift spears was a good detail that there used to be more.
I nodded to Moon to stop them so that Carl and I could talk to them. Moon nodded in response to my silent order and Carl trotted to the back to check out the last wagon to do his job of checking and illegal contraband.
"Hello," I greeted the head of the group, but no response came from him other than a blank stare.
"Silent Bell here doesn't talk much," Spoke a weathered sounded stallion who plopped off of the first wagon.
"Sorry," I said.
"Aint nothing," the stallion spoke. "Oh, pardon my manors. I'm Jetstream."
"Hello Jetstream, I'm captain Azure Phoenix. Can you tell me what business you have here?" I asked the grey pegasi. Jetstream as well as Silent Bell hung their head in for a moment before Jetstream spoke up.
"We came to look for help," Jetstream said angered.
"Help? What kind of help that you are asking for? I can tell you must have seen some trouble on the way here, but why come all this way for help?"
"Ya see," Jet paused to gather his words. "Our village was attacked a few moons ago by this thing. It killed everyone like we were mere toys! Nothing could even touch it nor see it, I swear!"
"Calm down," I said to the panicking pegasi. "Take it slow. What attacked your village and what's the name of it?"
"Sorry, our village didn't get a name yet, it was fairly new. It was inside a sheltered cove in Hayseed forest."
"That's good. Now can you describe what attacked?"
"It was large. A head taller than the average stallion. It was long and made of pure white dragon scales, but it always hid in the shadows. It had paws of a dog and a muzzle of one and worst of all. It had wings!"

Chapter 2. Enter the life of Ruby Tiara! The mare who likes griffins because they are bigger than stallions and less wimpy to try new things. Especially in bed.
I woke up slowly from a dreamless sleep to the sounds of; singing birds, the moving leave's and young laughter. I didn't pay any mind to it for I was comfortable where I was lying and I didn't want to wake up anytime soon to investigate. Feeling a sudden sting in my side, I shifted my body to a less painful position, but when I did. I learned that I was not on a bed, which was what I expected, but on rock hard dirt. Annoyed of this prospect, I decided to wake up to see where I decided to have a nap.
"Strange," I thought as I got up. Nothing felt right, then again. When I tried to recall how I got to where I was, nothing came to mind. Not my name, not who I was, nor where I'm was from.
I scratched my head or what felt like it. It was small, but the messy tufts of hair felt more like fur than anything else. Slightly confused, I opened my eyes only to find something staring at me. Not having any memories for mostly anything, I had to rely on feeling to figure out what was what.
To me, it felt safe but it's colors were a bit off. I think it was a pony of some kind, but the white pony had; a scarlet red mane, tail, and eyes. The pony had a curious look to her, probably for me. To her, "I think," I was an oddity. Like I was something to be wondered about. "I wonder how I look like?" I thought. But the thought caused me to be a bit more concern for myself. "I'll find a mirror later, but what is a mirror?"
"Umm," I mumbled. to the pony. The pony shook her head out of embarrassment and smiled with a slight blush.
"Sorry," the pony spoke. "My name is Ruby Tiara, what's your name?"
"A talking horse!" I screamed and turned around to run for my life, but was quickly thwarted by my inability to run on four, unfamiliar legs and a rock.
"Are you okay?" the pony asked lifting me up with, something and patted my face to clean the mud.
"I'm fine," I said spitting out dirt while feeling slight humiliated. Aside from the talking horse putting me into a panic attack from her super cute voice, which made me try to run, but I couldn't because I tripped and ate dirt. I couldn't recall my name.
"Are you sure?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah."
"So what's your name?"
"I don't have one."
"What do you mean you don't have a name? Everyone has a name," Ruby frowned.
"I just don't."
Ruby continued to frown before a smile crept her face. "I'll call you Winter because of your super fluffy white fur," Ruby smiled. "So Winter. Do you want to play?"
The rest of the day was spent playing with my new, affectionate friend Ruby. After our awkward introduction to each other, we explored the clearing that I woke up in and found a box with a snowflake on the top. Ruby was quick to assume it was mine because of the snowflake, but I was more skeptical.
Neither of use dared to open the box because Ruby said it had a strong magic spell protecting it. I'm not sure how she could tell nor was she. According to her, she was a unicorn and she could use magic. It made some sense in my mind, but I was still in disbelief. To me, the box felt...familiar and welcoming. To Ruby, it felt dangerous and scary. Neither of us could figure it out, so we hid the box in a hollow tree until later.
Putting the box aside for a while, I decided, or rather, Ruby decided to play in what she calls her, "castle" of the forest. Which was what I expected it to be. The castle as Ruby called it was an abandoned shack in the middle of the forest. As Ruby ran into the condemned house unafraid, I, however, was.
The sagging walls; broken window's, destroyed chimney and holes. Many, many holes that dotted the building didn't make me feel very safe. I was hesitant to even go near the place let alone stroll right in, but a sudden tingle in my wing's told me that rain was coming soon.
"Must be a trick from my past?" I thought as I forced myself into the shack.
Once inside, I found Ruby wearing a crown made of roses and a cape made of leaves. Slightly impressed with her display on her makeshift throne, I sat down in front of her to hear her declarations.
"Sir Winter, I see you have found your way to my humble castle," Ruby said with clear exaggeration.
"Yes, my queen. I Winter have come to serve you with my life," I bowed with a smile.
"Excellent! Then you can..."
*Crack!*
"Eeeep!" Ruby squeaked before she ditched her noble clothes and crippled me in a death grip.
"Whats wrong?" I barely managed to choke out.
*Crack!*
"That!" she cried. "I don't like it."
"What, the thunder?" I asked hearing another crack go by.
"Mmhmm," she nodded in my chest. I shook my head and tried to walk to the door to see how bad the storm was going to be, but it was a bit of a task with Ruby clinging to me.
"Mind letting go?" I asked. "I need to check to see if you can get home before the storm really starts. The static and moisture in the air is starting to bother me."
"It's going to get worse!" Ruby whined. I nodded.
*Crack!*
"Eeeep!" Ruby squeaked again causing her to grapple me into submission.
"Never mind," I sighed.
The storm didn't let up for the entire night. It was a horrible storm too. When lightning the crash of thunder was almost instant. I was fearful our shelter would crumble with each deafening boom of thunder. I was thankful, sort of, that we didn't die, but we were still cold from the rain and suffocating wind.
Even though we were safe for the most part, we still had to huddle for warmth and Ruby made sure that I wasn't comfortable to get some rest. Aside from Ruby using me as a cold shield, I couldn't help but feel something new. I couldn't quite place it. I was happy that a girl was holding me even though we were two very different races, and slightly sad. The sadness that I felt gave me an idea of who Ruby is truly like or why she is here helping me.
I quickly learned that Ruby was hiding something. Since Ruby and I are trapped in a thunderstorm. I assumed that her parents would come and find her. Especially with her lighthearted personality telling me that she was well cared for, but after a few hours of waiting to see if this was true. Something hard, like a rock, settled in my stomach.
She was alone, no one is here to care for her, no one was coming for her. In the morning, I will set aside my own problems with my memory and help Ruby with her own past. Maybe I will learn something about myself by helping Ruby. "That feels right," I thought with a smile. Having that plan in my mind got rid of the rock in my stomach with ease. Maybe I was something to aspire to? Someone that was a role model to look up to, but those two thoughts didn't sit right in my mind.
"Oh well," I sighed.
"Hey, Winter, wake up!" Ruby ordered by prodding my side with a hoof.
"Go away," I moaned while swiping her hoof away from my side. "I just fell asleep."
"Come on Winter. Let's go exploring!"
"Later."
"Come one," Ruby whined. "You can sleep later."
"It's been later a second ago," I said.
"That doesn't count!"
"Sure it does," I mused.
"No, it doesn't!" Ruby continued to whine. "If you don't get up, I'll jump on you!"
"Jump on me and I will kiss you," I threaten back.
"WHAT!?" shouted Ruby. "No, you won't!"
"Try me," I smiled.
Ruby left me alone after my threat for a moment, only to come back and dump a bucket of water on my face. Shocked from the sudden attack, I woke up to see a cheeky smirking Ruby and the bucket that she used. Fully awake, I raised an unimpressed brow to her to which she responded by telling me that she didn't jump on me thus I can't kiss her with a triumph went pose. Impeccable logic on her part for outsmarting me, but it futile.
As Ruby turned away from me, I jumped on her and pinned her down just long enough to peck her nose with a what I assumed was a griffin kiss and run away.
I ran out of the shack into the forest as fast as possible. I only looked back once while jumping over fallen moss covered trees to see a very red Ruby not too happy with me.
"I'll get you, Winter!" Ruby screamed. "And when I do, I'll make you eat dirt!" I laughed slightly only to run into a bush and get stuck.
"You're not getting away now," spoke a menacing voice from behind whom I assume was only Ruby.
"Crap," I thought as I struggled to break free from the bush only to feel a mouth grab the skin on my neck and yank me back.
"I finally caught you," the angry Ruby said pinning me down on my back.
"Hi Ruby, how are you," I nervously replied hoping that she won't kill me.
"Why did you kiss me!"
Really, that's why she chased me through the forest like a serial killer, just to ask a question!
"Because, erm, you're cute?" I smiled hoping that would get rid of her murder face.
"Do it again and I'll kill you," she blushed letting me go with my life. After being run down by Ruby like an animal. We decided to go to the nearby village called Baltimare for some food.
It didn't take us too long to get to Baltimare, but the trek there was mostly in silence. I tried to talk to Ruby about the things we were going to do in the village, but she remained silent. The aura that was emanating off of her was toxic and very unfriendly. I didn't mean to make her mad at me. I was just trying to be playful.
Ruby lead me out of the forest straight into the village, but once we entered the village my senses went berserk with fear. The large harbor village sitting next to the ocean as Ruby called it was pretty to look at, even though the air of the place was driving me crazy. Most of the houses were small and well decorated, the roads were clean and bustling with activity with ponies going about their day. Pegasi, unicorns and earth ponies were everywhere, but I couldn't see any griffins amongst the organized chaos.
"This way," Ruby said leading me into a fairly clean alley away from the crowd.
"Where are we going?" I asked looking everywhere for the hidden danger hiding within the shadows. Ruby turned around and saw the fear in my eyes, but continued to lead me deeper into the hornets nest.
"Somewhere where we can get food," she replied.
"Can't we get it somewhere else?" I whispered thinking that something was listening to me.
"What's your problem?" Ruby stopped me behind a shop in another alley. "You're acting strange."
"I can't help it," I said looking over her. "Something's wrong with this place and I feel if I get pushed into a corner something bad will happen."
"What do you mean?"
"I..." I said before I stopped and collapsed into convulsions. I clasped my head and whimpered. "I didn't know what's wrong with me! Something is pulling me back to place and if I don't get there. Then I... I... I will go insane!"
"You're scaring me," Ruby said tearing up. "What can I do to help?!"
"R... r... run," I stuttered. "Run and stay away from me."
"I can't just leave you here!"
Before I could reply my eye's went to pinpricks and I stood up.
"Winter?" Ruby ask very concernedly.
"They're going to die!"
"What?" Ruby squeaked backing away from me.
"I will rip them apart and eat their ENTRAILS!" I laughed.
Chapter 4. The massacre at hayseed forest.
"Captain Azure!" shouted Jade Rabbit, Jester Rabbit's younger brother. Azure took his attention away from Jetstream and his story about this giant winged wolf that attack his village to head the call of the breathless pegasi. Azure let the Jade colored pony catch his breath before listening to what he had to say.
"What is it?" asked Azure now with the company of Sergent Cresent Moon.
"It's Baltimare! It's being attacked by a monster!"
"What do you mean, a monster?" joined Moon.
"No clue. I only got a glimpse of it."
"Can you give it a description?" asked Azure now looking slightly uneasy.
"It was white." Jade started. "Had impenetrable scale's, wolf-like and hid in the shadows."
Azure Looked at Jade Rabbit confused. He just learned of such a beast from the weathered oldtimer. If such a beast exists and The young lad himself saw it. Then Baltimare was in grave danger. Azure looked at the Sergent uncertain of what to do wondering what her take was on what was the best course of action, but in her eyes was the same level of uncertainty.
"Well, let's get going!" Carl cheered signaling to the others to abandon their post to join the group. Azure noticed this as well as the other captain of the guard, Silver Spear, who decided to break from his formation to investigate him and his squad.
"What's going on here?" Silver questioned Azure.
"Baltimare is being attacked," answered Jade.
"By what?"
"No clue, but by the sounds of it. The entire settlement of Baltimare could be wiped out by the end of the day," Moon said.
"WHAT?!" Shouted Silver. "Then let's get going. If we lose Baltimare to whatever the hell Jade is talking about, then we lose all our trade with the griffins."
Before me sat a trembling mare begging for her life. I contemplated sparing her, but that wouldn't be right. Everyone that dare's to run from me should have their body turned inside out and become a grotesque masterpiece. I smile happily through my wolf mask lifting up me claw to her trembling lips.
"Don't be afraid," I purred deeply. "I'll be nice and slow."
"No," she begged as I brought my claw down to her throat.
"Please," she continued to beg.
"Okay," I replied. She smiled.
"I'll be quick," I said and watched the light in her eye's die as I lift my claw up and brought it down with blinding speed, decapitating her instantly.
After I watched the mare paint the floor in wonderful crimson in the center of the street. Terrifying all the nearby neighbors. I made a note to find a rusty fork to stab my victims withs. Just as I was about to move onto my next target's that has awakened me from my slumber; Adagio, Sonata, and Aria. A familiar voice purred unhappily in my mind.
"Do you alway's have to cause such destruction, Wolf? You know that we have to protect the book without becoming the most hunted thing on the planet"
"I know," I cheered. "But the sirens would not come out so easily ya know. Especially when we are so close to the sea," I replied walking down the street towards the harbor.
"Then let me take over. Our master wouldn't agree with your methods."
"And what would you know of our master's wishes?" I asked while dodging several arrows that whizzed by me from several blocks ahead. I saw the ponies that shot them. There was twelve of them dressed as silver knights. Six of them were rushing towards me while the other six were sticking behind to fire more arrows at me.
"Well?" dragon growled.
"Fine, but when the kid wakes up. Make sure he has the book."
"Very well."
After Captain Silver made the order to rush to Baltimare. The entire city of Canterlot went into a rush to organize a contingent to protect Baltimare. Guards prepped platoons of able-bodied soldiers, the banks rushed to protected their bank statements and the princesses head egghead, Starswirl the Beared, to join us.
By join "us" I mean my team on the frontlines of our overreaction to the situation held in Baltimare. Hardlight, Moon, and Jester weren't too happy when the archmage himself plopped down on the; Gale Runner, an old pre-equestrian warship issued by commander Hurricane herself. However, Carl, Falcon and I couldn't care less.
Once in the air on our thunderhead shaped piece of junk of an airship. Silver and his team began to mumble about themselves in slight annoyance of our joint effort with the archmage. I wasn't happy with it either. Even though I was a unicorn too, and one with more battle based magic than most. Having Starswirl was a bad sign, one that involves immense power that stands between us and the safety of the world.
In the corner of my eye, I spot the stallion himself walk up to me. I didn't know what Starswirl was coming to me to talk about, but whatever it was. He and his long ass beard and bells can talk to Carl. I know he wouldn't mind talking about magic or whatever.
"Tis a nice morn Captain Phoenix?" Starswirl said as leaned over the railing beside me. Starswirl's old talk was a bit confusing to those who grew up in the new land, but it was also confusing to him.
"Yep," I replied.
"I see the vex in your eye's. What art thou wrong, Captain? Is it my mere presence disturbing to you as the other's?"
"Yep," I said again. Starswirl grew a look of deep pondering visible in his brow but passed it was our destination.
"Do you know what we will find?" I asked.
"A monster," he replied.
We landed in Baltimare's town square hoping to find that nothing was going on and that the attack was false. Oh, we were so dreadfully wrong. Splattered all over the barren street was dismembered limbs and blood of the various victims. So many innocent victims. I didn't dare count the number of ponies that was mutilated, however, I couldn't stop the others. I saw them silently count with silent words of how many were killed. I saw ten then twenty then fifty. I shuddered at the thought of what kind of creature could cause such mayhem but now was no the time. We had to find it and end it before any more lives are taking from the world. Even though it pains me so.
I walked through the river of blood towards the main hall to secure whatever it was that I was securing. Maybe it was me? I don't want to know, but whatever it was. It was cold.
"Ahhh!" screamed someone from afar alerting all of us towards what was lurking in the shadows. The sound came from the harbor and that's where everyone pointed their attention too. I changed my destination to join the rest of my friends, only to be stopped by a sound coming from the hall. I turned back around keeping my head low from danger.
"Hello?" I called. The only reply I got was a terrified screech and the rustle of papers. I didn't sense any danger nearby, but whatever was trying to hide didn't think so.
"Captain!" I heard from behind. I turned to see Cresent Moon and the others wondering what I was doing. I sighed and left the noise alone to join them.
Once I caught up, we silently made our way towards the harbor. The screaming for someone to help kept booming through the village like the siren of death and misery itself. With each wail of pain, my squadron and Silver's squadron cringed in fear as to what was causing such torment. In my mind, however, I reminded myself that I was a soldier, a knight, a pony not fearful of the demons of Tartarus itself, but as we made one final turn. We saw the monster and a helpless mare begging for her life. Around them, they were most likely other's that thought they could run from the white wolf thing, but alas. The putrid guts and gore quickly demoralized everyone that saw it.
"We have to save her," I said out loud as I prepped a fireball spell, but I felt a hoof pulled me back from suicide.
"Not yet Azure," Moon said quietly pulling her hoof from my maw. "We have no plan for that thing."
Just as she finished her words. The thing in question lifted his hand and in a quick swipe the mare's head came tumbling towards us, leaving a bloody trail behind it. I froze as did the rest of my squad, but Silver's jumped into action. Silver and the rest made a bee-line for the monster in a blind rage. As soon as they left, Jester pulled out his bow and launched several arrows in quick succession towards the monster and my squad ran after silvers while I stayed behind with Starswirl and watched.
At the halfway point, the monster started to act, strange. I looked at Starswirl before I went to join them as a leader. He gave me a confused look of admiration for the beast, which was something that struck me as odd. How could he have such contempt for the thing that outright played with the mercy of an innocent mare? "I will ask him later," I thought as I turned away from him, only to witness something horrific.
A black miasma wrapped around the winged wolf causing the charging ponies to stopped dead in their tracks and to reevaluate the new situation. Once the wolf was completely masked by the smoke, black tendrils erupted out like lightning and the screech of death wailing in misery boomed.
I and Starswirl fell to our knees for a moment as we watched my friends and rivals drop like rocks to the ground. I couldn't tell if they died from the screech or passed out, but I would be able to find out until I was certain that they were safe from the monster.
The pain, oh the glorious pain that writhed through me like a delicate mistress that trembles to death's touch. The pain that felt like eternity itself was making me its bitch, however, only lasted for a short moment until my transformation was complete. Wolf had his fun, but now I, Dragon shall have my dance with the devil herself.
The black miasma that made the transformation possible cleared, showing me that only two of my opponents were left standing. They were hiding behind a building that resembled an over refined shack at best, with colorful shutters and a big sign that said; Harpoon Fishery. I smiled at the thought that they could hide from me! But first, how do I look like?
I snapped my finger to create a mirror from the water in the air and took a good look at myself. I was a black dragon with; devilish purple eye's, a wolf-like muzzle, four horns; two big white ones and two little ones just under them, I had many spin flaps curved into claws with purple skin aimed down towards my tail and along my tail they grew shorter till they met the white, wide, flat blade that was the tip. I admired the blade on my tail for a moment where I noticed something unique. It was as wide as a small dagger and as long as a short sword with a crescent moon for a hilt. I wondered how much fun it would be to slice ponies with, but that will have to wait until my next time on the mortal plain.
Aside from most of my appearance being covered in armor that I believe was called, the armor of Ornstein. I was quite happy with how I looked. If I meet my master, I will thank him for giving me for such an appearance.
I got rid of the mirror by throwing it into the nearest building that had fish plastered on it and made my way towards the recovering ponies down the road and sang.
"Not looking for gold!" I sang. "This stuff's purple, or so I have been told, by some people."
The two ponies that I was walking towards took one last glance at me and ran away. I opened my wings and in a heavy flap I took flight into the sky and caught up to them in mere seconds of flying over the buildings.
I landed in front of them beside their ship and leaned up against it and smiled. I knew that letting them get away would cause problems for the third, so I decided to deal with them instead of the sirens. It wouldn't matter if I found them anyway. I would have run out of time to stay awake if I did. Which the third would have to fight them by himself and he is a weak little bastard. It is the same for these two if I let them live, but where is the fun if I just kill them like Wolf?
"You aren't getting away that easy," I chuckled.
"Who said we were," the azure pony said before putting himself in front of the bearded wizard reject. The azure pony's horn lit up in azure flame signaling me that he was about to cast a fire-based spell. "How stupid," I thought. I was a dragon in dragon slaying armor! I can swim in lava!
"Then let's dance," I smiled thinking of a song.
Chapter 5. Alpha and Omega.
Blood, the scent of iron and burning flesh assaulted my nostrils like a bad omen. I didn't know where it was coming from, but the pain in my side told me a truth that I didn't want to learn. But first, why can't I see? The shock didn't set in for what it felt like hours until I decided to move from where I was laying, but I couldn't feel that either.
Normally I can tell what was around me without the need for my eyesight with ease, but the pain and the ungodly smell blocked those senses. Frightened I tried to feel my side with my claws to see what was damaged.
I moved my hand towards the pain located near my back. Carefully I touch the area and found what was wrong. I winced in agony as a piece of my own flesh peeled off to my touch.
"What the fuck happened to me?" I whimpered wondering where I was.
"I don't know little griffin," said a soft-sounding female voice followed with the sound of several foot steps. "But whoever did this to you, we will find them."
"Who's we?" I asked more frighted than I was before.
"What do you mean . . . " the mare said before realizing that I was staring blankly at her. I could tell where she was from the sound, but I couldn't see.
"Sorry I . . . It will be alright little one."
After the talk with the mare, I felt a tingle against my side. It was soothing to say the least. The slight itch that came with it didn't help with the sound of what could be described as "instant healing." When I asked as to what they were doing to my wounds that were causing my discomfort, the mare said that Starswirl the Bearded was using his magic to heal me. That thought only made me more anxious with my wound.
The process the wizard was using to heal me was a long one. Once I was safe to move without risking my life, they moved me to an airship called the Gale Runner with a black book that was said was with me when they found me.
When I heard this, I was relieved like the book held some sort of special significance to me but something was out of place. I could vaguely remember there being someone else with the book. Who I don't know, but I can recall it being a young girl. Maybe my age? The only thought that I could bring to mind was the feeling of the joy of play.
"Was she a friend?" I mumbled.
"What you say little griffin?" said the mare that found me. 'Yes, that's right, but what was her name? I think it was Falcon Song.' What a strange name I thought.
"Nothing," I yawned getting up from my shifting bed that swayed uncomfortably to the motions of the flying boat.
"How's the pain? Is it getting any better?" Falcon asked with slight worry in her voice. I was glad that she cared about me, well, she was the only one that cared about since I was found in the forest. The rest of her group could care less about my condition nor the fact that I was a child. 'Strange,' calling myself a child was alien to me. It was like something that had long past like I was much older than I should be, but why?
"Erm . . . Are you okay?" Falcon said bringing my attention to her back. I thought about it for a moment, feeling my side with a quick twitch of my wing and smiled that there was no more burning sensation.
"I'm fine," I smiled, but the mare didn't even if I could not see it.
"Do you know what happened?" Falcon asked with a sigh of relief.
I rubbed my chin in deep thought trying to remember what happened, but nothing came to mind, or at least, no sight. I could still feel what went wrong; the sensation of bloodlust, the carnal desire to destroy, the calm coolness of content, and worst of all, fear, so much fear.
I cringed from remembering the pain that was inflicted upon me with the intent to kill. The flame had the similar sensation to the healing spell that Starswirl the Beared used. One of unique power and intensity. It wasn't caused by whatever I felt before, it was more hardened and protective of something. But what? What did I do that caused such hatred towards me? I shook my head trying to clear the fear that was started to cloud my judgment, but I know it wouldn't go away so quickly.
"Sorry, I don't remember much," I said with a sniffle.
"Well, what do you remember?"
I looked at her with my blank gaze fearful of what I was about to say. It was the only thing that I could say.
"Blood, so much blood."
A chill ran down my spine when thinking about that dragon or whatever the hell I saw.
That thing wasn't natural, the way it moved was to demonic to be possible and that grin on his face when I landed a phoenix fireball against his side was terrifying. Whatever we found in Baltimare couldn't be hurt nor captured. The fact that it bowed before it retreated showed some sort of formal intelligence that was far superior to the average dragon.
"Damn it," I clenched my teeth. If only I could have warm my team and Silver's before that black cloud appeared then we would have had a chance against the demon!
"You alright Captain? You look upset"
I turned around from leaning over the balcony of the new castle that was built for our two new monarchs; Princess Celestia and Princess Luna to see Cresent Moon glaring at me. I sighed and went back to looking over the countryside from the cliffside castle.
"A little bit," I groaned. Cresent Moon joined me in leaning over the balcony.
"It's not you fault that shit hit the cloud," Moon said trying to cheer me up. "We didn't know what to expect when we got there. For all we know, we could have run into a pack of rogue diamond dog's."
"But not that demon," I growled.
"Azure . . . When Terra Nova sealed Tartarus with the Everfree forest, she couldn't get all of the demon's to slipped through the cracks. At least we found one and almost caught him..."
"Almost," I glared at the direction to Balitmare.
"Well, at least we managed to save the survivor."
"The only two survivors. One near death and the other to frightened to even move. And they were both kids!"
"We can't save them all," Moon sighed. "Even if we got there in seconds, there would have still been casualties."
"It wouldn't have mattered if we got there even if we were first at the village," I choked. "When I looked into that demon eye's I saw a pure predator. He was the alpha and I was the omega. I was weak and he was strong. Stronger than Starswirl's magic!"
