Chapter 1: the reunion
Fluttershy POV
She was coming home! Fluttershy thought excitedly, she could hardly stand still (which is saying something for Fluttershy) She didn’t know why but she had been so eager for dash to come home and she still couldn’t quite figure out why. Sure she would be excited about anyone coming home from a long journey but for some reason she was just that much more excited about dash getting back from the wondebolts academy. Dash would be home in 2 days and Fluttershy swore to herself that she would have everything perfect for dash when she got home….but then she realized in order to do that she would have to get to her house…which was in clouds dale…..it’s so high up… *she mentally slapped herself out of her state of fear* “dammit Fluttershy snap out of it you can do this” she thought aloud. Fluttershy then proceeded to leave her house and to start flying, about half way there she made the mistake of looking down. Oh god oh god oh god, she almost fell out of fear but made it to dashes front door. Click! “Of course she leaves her house unlocked…typical” she thought playfully. She entered the house and gazed in astonishment at how messy it was in her house, “oh god” she says aloud. “This is a mess!” Fluttershy continued to look around the place trying to figure out where to start. This is more or less what to imagine when looking at the tornado that was dashes house
Trash cans toppled over
Soda cans everywhere
The occasional whiskey bottle
The walls (which are made of cloud) had holes in them
The bed was more like a rats nest then an actual bed
There were dirty dishes everywhere
The kitchen looked like someone set off a bomb inside it
Etc…..
Good god, Fluttershy thought I mean I knew she never cleaned but holy shit. The only time Fluttershy tends to curse is when nobody else can hear it. “Well…I guess I better get started” she decided to start up stairs and proceed down with the cleaning. 4 Hours later she had finally gotten the last of the house cleaned and ready to go…aside from the holes in the walls which some guys from clouds dale were repairing, Fluttershy was exhausted after all the cleaning and she had not been sleeping at all for the past week due to some complicated circumstances. So after she had finalized the cleaning Fluttershy passed out on the couch without even trying to make it to the door to get home.
Two days later
Fluttershy having been asleep the entire time woke up in shock as she realized she had been sleeping for 2 days; but she did not think about that and instead thought about how Rainbow Dash was coming home today! Fluttershy was obviously already at the house so she decided to wait for her there instead of heading home, She was sure her animals would not mind.
Rainbow dash’s POV
It was almost noon when Rainbow dash finally got home, the door was open which was strange but she had nothing really of value in there to be stolen. Plus it was a mess so why would anyone want anything in there anyway? I got to the door and gazed in complete awe as the entire house was spotless and even the holes were gone! Across the room I saw Fluttershy looking at me with those beautiful teal eyes of hers… She ran up to me with tears in her eyes and threw her arms around me, causing me to drop about half my things but I didn’t care.
“I missed you so much!” said Fluttershy in an almost yell
“I missed you too flutters” Rainbow said as she hugged her back. “Did you do all of this?” rainbow said as she gestured around the room
“Yes yes YES!” she yelled enthusiastically
“Wow you’re a happy one right now aren’t you?”
“of course I am! I haven’t seen you in 4 months!” Dash put flutters down and looked at her eyes
“thanks flutters I owe you, this place WAS a mess”
“Oh believe me I know” she says, they both break out into laughter and after sitting down and talking about dash’s experience at the academy and what she had been doing the past 4 months Fluttershy spoke up. “hey I got to go take care of my animals, I have a raccoon that has this broken leg I need to take care of”, rainbow dash turns around gives her a last hug and says good night as she watches Fluttershy fly off into the night.
“I love you” rainbow dash says in a whisper, she knew she would not hear it but she almost wished she did. Rainbow dash sighed as she went back into the house and sat down at the edge of her bed. She sat there thinking for a long time, thoughts of Fluttershy racing through her mind. Am I? I can’t be….but what if...no no no that’s... That’s…wrong! but the more she thought about it the more she wanted it to happen. During her mind of racing thoughts she realized she had been sitting there for the better part of 3 hours trying to figure out how she felt about Fluttershy. I guess I should I go to bed… dash thought distantly as she climbed under the covers to go to the sleep and the whole night she dreamt about Fluttershy.
The next day was like a blur to dash, going around and visiting everypony trying to get to everyone she could in one day. At the end of the day she was exhausted and thought about heading home when Fluttershy came along with her bunny angel
“hey rainbow” Rainbow dash turned her head to Fluttershy in excitement
“Hey flutters!” She sounded more excited about seeing her then intended. When she got to Fluttershy she had tears in her eyes and looked very depressed, the very sight of her being this way made rainbow dash worried instantly. “Hey what’s wrong flutters?” Dash said worriedly
“I’m...I’m…”she tried to say
“Hey its ok” dash said as she pulled Fluttershy into a hug “what’s wrong? Did something happen?” Fluttershy then began to sob into rainbow dashes shoulder quietly. “shhh shhh its ok shy” Dash had no idea what was wrong but was determined to be there for flutters, she continued to comfort the crying Pegasus for a while.
“I’m sorry…Dash I can’t sleep anymore, I keep having these nightmares and these horrific day dreams and I can’t even think without seeing them anymore….I need your help dash please….” Dash was slightly shocked but recovered quickly
“of course shy, why don’t I get you home and I will stay with you a while till you fall asleep? Maybe with me there they won’t bother you” dash said hopefully.
“s- su- sure “she said with a smile “that sounds good”. They went to fluttershy’s house and by time they got there it was already 10 and they were both exhausted. When they entered the house Fluttershy passed out in the middle of the room and rainbow dash caught her
“wow she must have been really tired…she really hasn’t been sleeping “. Rainbow Dash carried her to her room and laid her down in the bed and tucked her in, she was hesitant at first but then laid down next to her and held her hand. She didn’t mean to fall asleep but ended up doing so anyway and slept all night next to the secret love of her life that she so desperately wanted but had a nagging fear would never happen.
Fluttershy POV
Fluttershy awoke to find that somepony was holding her hoof, she immediately blushed and looked over. Rainbow dash slept with her all night! Fluttershy blushed deeply but strangely enough enjoyed her being there…next to her… It made her feel special and cared for. Fluttershy kept holding dashes hoof and watched her sleep for a while until dash woke up about an hour later. “Hey rainbow…” Fluttershy says hesitantly but confidently
“hey” dash says with a sleepy voice. Fluttershy then begins to laugh quietly while dash recovers from her deep sleep, “wha?” she half says confusingly as she realizes she fell asleep next to flutters and they were still holding hoofs. Rainbow dash immediately takes her hand away blushing “i um...how did you sleep? Any nightmares?” Dash asks quickly
“no actually” Fluttershy realizes with relief “no i slept great sleep actually” Fluttershy looks at dash “thanks for doing this…it…it means a lot to me”. Rainbow dash blushes and quickly looks away
“ya…for sure anytime I can help out” rainbow dash looks back at Fluttershy “but we still have not figured out what is causing the nightmares, you literally passed out at the door last night so obviously you have not been sleeping…at all”
“ya I know…” Fluttershy says “I think…I might know but I need some time to think it over” Rainbow dash gives Fluttershy a worried look “I’m ok really” Fluttershy says semi confidently. Rainbow dash gets up from the bed
“ok but the moment you get more nightmares or need some help you come get me immediately ok?” Fluttershy gets up from the bed and hugs Rainbow dash
“of course”. Rainbow dash heads for the door and says goodbye, she then heads to town to get some of pinkies new cupcakes that are supposed to be really good.
Fluttershy back at her house tries to think over what just happened. In truth her night mares had always been about rainbow dash getting hurt or killed and it was always the same dream...Watching helplessly as Rainbow Dash would be tied to a stake or sometimes a table, getting tortured, and she gets to watch helplessly as she cries out for her but no words come from her mouth and she can’t seem to move. During this process a voice haunts her as she watches her friend get tortured. It hurts doesn't it? watching helplessly as the person you love gets tortured to death? knowing there is nothing you can do about it?. Sometimes the dream would end there if she was lucky and most of the time it would go on for hours as dashes screams got weaker and weaker until no more. Fluttershy would always wake up with a start and cry, she did not know how much more of this she could take. Fluttershy scraped the thoughts from her mind and then went to thinking how happy she was to see her and how she enjoyed her being next to her all night…. Is it love? This whole time have I been…in love?....with another filly? Fluttershy was in deep thought on the matter when the door burst open and pinkie came running in with confetti and party balloons in her hair
“FLUTTERSHY!!!” Pinkie says excitedly while she jumps up and down repeatedly, Fluttershy meanwhile had almost had a heart attack and was on top of one of her roof rafters
“pinkie…did you have to run in like that?” Fluttershy says from the rafters.
“Well um no I guess, BUT RAINBOW IS BACK!!!” she continues to bounce up and down excitedly
“yes yes I know, she was here last night” Fluttershy says as she flies down from the rafters trying to calm down the raccoon she was taking care of that shared Fluttershy’s fright. “Oh I seeeeeee hmmhmm” Pinkie says suspiciously “what?” Fluttershy says curiously. “Oh nothing, it’s just that she happen to come see you before aaannnnyyone else and you were both here…at night…alone” pinkie then winks at Fluttershy before heading to the door. “IT WASENT LIKE THAT!!!” Fluttershy yells as she left the house and she blushes heavily, pinkie leans in back through the door “oh suuurrreeee it wasn’t, we all know you have had a thing for her sense that flight school ;)” she then leaves before Fluttershy can say anything else. After pinkie pie had left Fluttershy sat on her couch to think a bit more about her situation with dash “god what am I thinking I couldn’t love her she’s…so weird and dangerous and that rainbow colored mane that makes her look so beautiful, and her crazy smile and those eyes…” she then shakes her head and puts her head into her hands. Maybe I do like her but...i couldn’t….i shouldn’t… The more she thought about her and dash the more she wanted it to be true but what if she doesn’t like me back This question then began to haunt her thoughts and decided she needed…. Counseling
A few hours later Fluttershy was at twilight’s house, she was the first person that came to mind when she needed help (besides dash of course). “So what seems to be troubling you shy?” Twilight insisted that she laid down while they did this so she could relax. After a moment of second thought she just decided to say it “I…I think I might love someone but I don’t know what I should do or….how I even know if its love I feel” Fluttershy says shyly, Twilight was a bit shocked at first but then came back with “well… how long have you known this person?”, “almost all my life, ever since we were little” “and why do you think you might be in love with this person?” Twilight purposely avoided details on the specific someone as to not stress Fluttershy out. “I...well...”Fluttershy eventually just spilled everything “hey eyes, her beautiful mane and those wings that always seem to be so perfect with that dare devil attitude of hers, I just….can’t stop thinking about her now” Twilight almost dropped her note pad her? Wow I didn’t think Fluttershy….well I guess you learn something new every day…I wonder. “Well…it sounds to me like you like her but I have a feeling that not why you came for help”, “it’s just I don’t….i don’t know what to do. I want to tell her but I’m…scared” Fluttershy admitted while she began to sulk a bit in her chair. Twilight got out of her chair and walked over to Fluttershy and pulled her into a hug. “Fluttershy…you can’t bottle your feelings up like this, they will eat you up inside until you nothing but dust. If you really have feelings for this mare then tell her, it’s as simple as that…trust me I know” Twilight says regrettably “now go and tell her…show her you have feelings for her and stop torturing you self” Twilight turns Fluttershy towards the door “and Fluttershy” Twilight says as she’s leaving “I hope she feels the same way” Fluttershy attempts a smile before leaving to go back home and think about how she is going to admit her feeling for dash.
