Those who do live in the badlands are commonly called insane, for only a madpony would ever travel alone in this life ending territory, but there are still those few who manage to make a living out in these dangerous uncharted lands. One such madpony is travelling down a rocky, unstable mountain trail close to a Equestrian outpost where he intends to sell what goods he is carrying in his saddlebag. This stallion is in his early 20's, shorter than most his age. He is a earth pony with dark gray fur, his eyes are olive green and he has a two toned mane and tail with purple being the dominant outline color and light green in the center. The sun is beginning its slow descent and soon the moon will be out and so will the more nocturnal creatures of the badlands, but the stallion knows that fewer creatures live near the Equestrian border so he is not as alert as he would be. With a small smirk on his face the stallion trots onward to the nearby outpost which, by his calculations, should be less than two hours from his current location. As he trots along, he comes to a turn around a large boulder and he is greeted by the sight of a destroyed cart. On full alert, the stallion checks his surroundings but all he sees is the tall rocky cliffs on either side of the trail and some dead trees and shrubs, with a sigh the stallion slowly approaches the cart to search for clues of what might have caused this and to see if there is anything of value that might have been left behind. Sadly as the stallion searches through the wreckage he failed to notice the small cavern that was next to the large boulder that he walked around, or the several glowing yellow eyes that were watching him. As the stallion finishes his inspection for loot he notices a large quilt that has a small hoof sticking out of it, the stallion narrowed his eyes at the quilt and walked towards it. When he is little more than two feet away from the object of his interest the stallion grabs the quilt with his teeth and pulls it away from whatever was hiding underneath, what he found was something he was what he had feared, he found a filly. The filly was a unicorn with purple fur and a dark brown mane and tail, her eyes were closed and tears could be seen running down her face and she was physically shaking in fear. The stallion felt pity for the filly, but he was more concerned about why she was hiding under a quilt in the wreckage of a destroyed cart. So he found the best way to feed his curiosity was to calm the scared filly down. "Hey you alright?" he asked. Upon hearing his voice the filly stopped shaking and opened her eyes to look at the stallion standing over her. She had scarlet red eyes and the look she had was of fright, sadness, and a small glimmer of hope. "I said are you all right?" the stallion repeated annoyance making its way into his tone. The fillies ears folded down out of fear of upsetting the stallion and quickly nodded to confirm she was alright. "What's the matter manticore got your tounge?" the stallion said amused at the fillies lack of a verbal response. At the mention of the word manticore the filly immediately grabbed the quilt with her magic and pulled it over herself. "Whoa there what's got you all-" the stallion was interrupted by everything becoming clear to him. "Broken cart in the mountain path with a filly all by herself and-" the stallion began to sniff the air around him and caught a horrid smell of a feral cat. "Oh buck my luck" the stallion said before he noticed the charging beast heading his way. Ten seconds, time slows in the stallions mind "Manticore, just reaching adolescence, very pissed and probably the cause of this mess and the-". The filly comes to his mind, he wasn't the only one here so he couldn't just run, eight seconds "Okay....weapon I need a weapon" the remembers there was a small dagger behind a crate to his right. Six, "won't be able to get to it before it reaches us need a way to by time......ah!". Four, the manticore was very close no more than three meters, the stallion quickly grabs the quilt and pulls it into the manticores path. One!, the quilt lands on the manticores eyes temporarily blinding it as the stallion goes for the dagger, the manticore enraged by its sudden loss of sight stops dead in its tracks as it attempts to remove the quilt. The stallion shoves the crate out of the way and picks up the dagger with his teeth and turns to face the still blinded manticore. At this moment adrenaline is already running through the stallion and the only option that he can perceive to follow is to charge the beast while he still has the advantage. The stallion gives off no cry or yell as he charges the manticore the only thing he focuses on is to immobilize his target, "got to get on its back and hit it in between its shoulders". The stallion jumps onto a crate and then to the beasts back just as it finally gets the quilt off its face and as the stallion is about to plunge the dagger into its target the manticore swings its tail and knocks the stallion off, the dagger only cutting the beasts right foreleg as the stallion loses his grip on the weapon. The stallion manages to get on his hooves despite having the air knocked out of his lungs but, before he can make his next move the manticore swipes at him nearly decapitating his head but still managing to make three cuts on his muzzle. After the manticore failed its first swipe it immediately swings its tail directly hitting the stallions left rib cage, the stallion is knocked a good five meters right into a dead tree and the only thing he could hear is the unsettling crack of bone as his left front foreleg is caught in the impact. Dazed and immobile the stallion can do nothing but watch as the beast approaches its soon to be next meal when all of a sudden the manticore cries out in pain. As the manticore turns to face away from the stallion he notices that the dagger he lost his grip on was now plunged deep above the manticores left wing and a red magical glow surrounding it. The filly that had been hiding the whole time pulls the dagger out of the beast and when it begins its charge to its new opponent she closes her eyes and plungers the dagger straight into its open mouth. The force of the dagger being pushed and the momentum of the manticores charge was strong enough for the dagger to pierce through the beasts mouth and spine killing it instantaneously. "Heh.....heheheheh" the filly opens her eyes to the sound of the stallion chuckling maddenly to himself as if he remembered a funny joke. She approaches the strange stallion and looks at him curiously as if asking "What's so funny?" and the stallion is all to willing to give her an answer. "Hehe never thought that a filly would be the cause for me to get this battered up before" shocked at how easily that he is laughing at how he almost died the filly could only stare at the obviously madpony. "Anyway I'm in a little bind here you see i think that manticore might have poisoned me and I'm in no case to move without help so if you can get into my saddlebag I have a emergency teleportation scroll that can be sent to the nearest outpost, if you would be a dear and get it and inform them of our predicament that would be wonderful", after hearing of the current information of how the stallion is possibly dying the filly rushed and rummaged though his saddlebag until she found the scroll. After writing down the course of events the scroll flashed in a green flame to its destination. "Good, they should be here in at least half an hour, gah" moving his still functional leg to his bruised left ribcage the stallion takes several deep pained breaths. "Hopefully I'll still be alive by then". Concern and fear are seeping its way into the fillies heart but she knew she had to be strong if not for herself but for the stallion that fought to keep her safe, so doing the only thing that she could think that could be helpful, she laid next to the stallion and placed her head against his shoulder. "Normally I wouldn't let somepony do that but I guess I can let this go just once". The stallion lays his head on top of the filly to show appreciation for her trying to comfort him and slowly fatigue and pain bring him into unconsciousness. Author's Note This is my first time writing and I would appreciate any feedback that I am given. Bored Begging'sChapter 1 Bored Begging's "Celestia it is boring around here" says a royal guard mare as she trots her normal patrol route through the stands and vendors inside outpost Glory. The mare is average in height but with a little more muscle tone due to the training she went through to be a royal guard. She is a unicorn with magenta fur, silver eyes, and a blue mane and tail and a serious case of boredom. "Come on Hash at least you're not on latrine duty anymore" says the stallion that is walking next to her, the stallion is slightly taller than the mare as a Earth pony would be, he has dark brown fur with orange eyes, he has a light red mane and tail, his cutie mark is a cracked bone being wrapped in medical tape. "I guess Doc but, when I was assigned to the borderlines I was expecting there would be adventure and action but instead the most we do is patrol the market or other areas inside the outpost, I mean there is hardly anything to do here I've been everywhere in this place and nothing exciting ever happens" the mare breaths a sigh as she finishes her rant as they approach the end of the market. "Doc, hey Doc!" both the mare and stallion turn to the direction of yelling that is coming from another guard who is galloping towards them. "Yes what is it?" the stallion (who we will now refer to as Doc) asked as the exhausted guard caught his breath. "We received.....a distress scroll....the general has ordered you....nurse Flick, and a small team......of guards including Hash to head outside." Hashes eyes glimmered at the mention of being sent outside of the outpost and into the unknown while Docs pupils seemed to shrink. The guard who has now recovered his breath continued the orders he was to deliver "You both are to gear up and report to the gate for the briefing" after saying this the guard saluted them both and trotted off. "Come on Doc lets go! ooooh, I can't believe we are going out on a mission this is so awesome!" Hash says while she trots with a obvious bounce in her step toward the gate. "Yeah.....awesome" Doc says as he follows his excited companion with less of a skip to his step and more of dragging chained boulders attached to his legs. As Doc and Hash continue their walk to their destination the make a stop a the clinic to pick up nurse Flick who despite what you may assume from the name is a mare. Flick a white unicorn with a golden mane and tail and her cutie mark was a chestnut.....(don't judge me). As the trio arrived at the designated briefing location Hash noticed three older veteran guards, two earth ponies, and a pegasus, none of which she knew personally were conversing with a large pegasus stallion. The pegasus that they were speaking with was also their commanding officer and general of the outpost Glory guards, general Dark Moon. The general as previously stated is a pegasus, he is impressively built for somepony in their mid forties, his cutie mark was a cloak and dagger, his fur is a dark shade of gray either from his age or it was what he was born with no pony really knows, his mane and tail is a blend of faded green and brown. His eyes are a deep sea blue and he has a large scar that goes from his left eye to his left ear which fits the scowl he is wearing at the moment. "Ah, there they are", Dark said sounding miffed "Now that you three are here we can start the briefing, about fifth teen minutes ago a S.O.S scroll was received at communications the scroll details traveling ponies being attacked by a manticore on the mountain side trail, these ponies have dealt with the manticore but one is injured and possibly poisoned it's our mission to head out there provide medical assistance and bring these ponies back to the safety of Glory" Dark takes a pause to let the information of the mission sink into the gathered ponies minds before continuing, "We head out effective immediately gather whatever gear you will need and return here in five minutes understood?" The group of ponies salute the general while saying "Sir, Yes Sir!" in unison before dispersing to get the necessary gear they need for heading out into the badlands. Meanwhile Darkness, cold crushing darkness surrounds the stallion but, he is not concerned for he has been here plenty of times. "Huh guess I lost consciousness" He says to himself, his words echoing around him. "HEHEHE you should be more careful if it wasn't for that filly you could have died" a mocking voice echo's from the darkness. "Shut it I had everything under control" the stallion says his words full of venom. "Oh? You had everything under control? Well excuse me if I don't believe that" An image appears in front of the stallion, it is a outside perspective of him slamming into the tree that the manticore whacked him into. "Ah I love that part it will be held in a deep place in my heart" the voice says "Honestly though if you had let me deal with that beast you would not be in the situation you are in right now" the voice continues to speak in its condescending tone all the more angering the stallion. "If that's all you came here for then piss off cause you know full well that I will never let you take care of things" the stallion says keeping a faceless expression trying to stay calm and cool. "Very well but my offer still stands, if you need me just call" the voice chuckles to itself as it slowly fades. "Great if that bastard is popping up then I hope that rescue team shows up soon." Author's Note Took me a long time to finish this but its finally here for those who may like this story. Already working on the second chapter but it may take a while to get it out due to work. Hope you enjoy and thank you for you're support. Also shout out to Towkio for the kind comment he/she make some good fics themselves and so check them out. Morbid MemoriesChapter 2 Morbid Memories "Private Hash could you please tell Doc to keep up" Dark said "I don't want to have the only pony with the best medical experience getting lost or left behind." Hash only nodded to the general and slowed down her pace to match with Docs who was a good five meters behind from the group. Hash could already tell from the look of nervousness Doc had that the stallion was so on edge that he never noticed Hash trotting next to him. "Hey, you alright? " Hash asked but Doc continued to trot as though no one had spoken to him. Hash was a little annoyed with this so she moved herself so her mouth was right next to Doc's ear and yelled "HEY DOC YOU ALRIGHT?!" Doc responded with "OW OW MY BLOODY EARS, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" Suppressed chuckles could be heard from the rest of the group that was ahead of them. "The General wanted me to get you to keep up with the rest of us" Hash said to Doc as he was rubbing his ear. "So you yell in my ear to get me to keep up?" He asked annoyed at the mare for causing the high pitched ringing in his ear. "Well I tried talking to you normally but you kept walking as though I wasn't even here, you haven't been acting the same since we left the outpost what's the matter?" Hash asks with a concerned look. Doc stopped rubbing his ear and looks in his friends eyes before sighing in defeat. "The last time I was out here I was a colt with my mother, we were looking for some flowers that could be used for medicine." Tears began to build up at the edges of his eyes. "We went inside a cave where the flowers grew but w-we didn't realize that there was something else inside the cave." "What? what was inside?" Hash asked "I-I don't know whatever it was, it was fast and stayed in the shadows I-I-It took my mother when we were at the mouth of the cave..." Tears streamed down his face "She didn't even scream, s-she was there one minute and then gone" "There wasn't anything you could have done to save her" Hash jumped at hearing the general speak next to her. "B-but if I-I had" Doc stammered "If you had tried to save her you would be dead as well. You have a chance to save a ponies life but, you can't do that if you're in fear of being out here." "He's right" Hash said, "It was something you couldn't have changed if you even tried. You can help another pony from sharing the same experience as you." Doc thought hard on what the general and his friend was telling him. He wiped the tears from his face and inhaled deeply. "Then I guess we shouldn't be standing around here should we?" Doc says with a slight grin. Meanwhile The stallion awoke from his unconscious slumber the sun was still in the sky, from what he could tell it was just about a hour since the emergency scroll was sent but, the rescue team hasn't arrived yet. "Not good" he thought to himself. He looked around to take account of his surroundings "Wrecked cart, Check, manticore corpse, Check and-" Just then he felt something wriggle underneath his fore leg. When he looked down he saw the little unicorn filly asleep with her face buried into his fur. The stallion stared at the filly for a good minute before a smirk formed on his face. "One brave kid, Check" A surge of pain shot through the stallions body when he tried to move himself to get in a more comfortable position. He breathed deep and slow as to not wake the filly from his urge to yell profanities at the sky. When the pain went down to a more tolerable level the stallion let out a long sigh which unfortunately was louder than he had intended. The filly moaned before lifting her head off the stallion, she looked around at he surroundings before realizing where she was and the events that had transpired before she slept came crashing back to her like a train going off a cliff. After she spotted the dead manticore she looked at the stallion, her eyes on the brink of shedding tears. The stallion gave her a warming smile and whispered "It's okay, I know it is hard to accept what you did, But you did the right thing at the time. If you didn't then most likely I wouldn't be here and possibly neither would you." The stallion wrapped his unbroken leg around the fillies back and pulled her into a tight embrace, he could feel her tears soak his fur as she cried. They stayed like this for what felt like hours, after the filly had finished crying the stallion let go of her. "Okay, now that we have that out of the way you need to go." It took a moment for the filly to comprehend what the stallion just said. When she finally realized what she was just told her eyes widened and she shook her head furiously. "Look I'm in no condition to move. The rescue team hasn't arrived yet and it will be dusk soon. I want you to take some of the food I have in my pack and head to the outpost down the trail." The filly looked at the stallion for a long time before she grabbed his saddlebag and pulled out three apples and placed them in a small sack which she tied around her neck. "Good, now just head down the trail until you reach the outpost" The filly began trotting down the trail as she was instructed to but, she stopped and looked back at the stallion laying next to the tree. "Don't you worry about me, no way I'm going to die out here. Not before I pay you back for saving my life." The stallion said giving a smile to the filly. The filly returned his smile with one of her own and then she continued down the trail again as she was instructed to do. It was five minutes after the stallion lost sight of her before he let out a deep sigh. "Well she's gone now" he said to himself. The stallion just laid there next to the dead tree gazing at the clouds as the sun slowly descended. He stayed like this for what felt like an hour to him before he gave out another sigh. "Ok so first things first I need to find someplace to bunker down until the rescue team arrives" "You mean if they even bothered to come out here" The dark voice whispered inside the stallions head. The stallion shook his head to silence the pest that was trying to send him into despair. When he finished his pointless attempt to silence what could not be silenced he noticed a small opening in the rocky mountain side. "Must be where the manticore was living" the stallion said to himself. "I really need to stop talking to myself." "Yah, don't want anypony thinking you're crazy" "Shut it" After two painful attempts to get on his hooves the stallion practically drag himself into the cave, stepping on old animal bones and what seemed to be a few pony skulls. "Well not exactly a five star bed and breakfast but it'll have to do" The stallion laid down in a dark corner clear of bones of previous victims of the manticore. "Well time to get started I guess" " This is going to suck isn't it?" "Oh you know it" The stallion responded with right before he shoved a broken bone into his chest. "Sir, how much further are we from the distress location?" one of the other guards asked. Dark gave a huff of annoyance, "The scroll didn't give a exact location but, if we don't find those ponies in the next half hour we will head back to the outpost." Hash looked up at the sun as it continued its slow decent. The guard that had spoken did the same. "Hope so, we really don't want to be out here at night." "All the more reason to continue the search" Dark responded. It was then that Hash noticed something further ahead of the group. It was a purple unicorn filly. With a yell on "Over there!" Hash ran up to the filly who at the sight of the guards collapsed under her own weight from exhaustion. "Let me take a look at her" Hash moved aside so that Doc could begin his examination of the filly. Her fur was stained with dirt and dust, her hooves were chipped and cracked from walking non-stop down the trail. Tears began to stream down her face as she curled herself into the fetal position. Doc didn't need a medical license to tell the poor foal was traumatized but what got his and Hash's attention was the small specks of blood on her muzzle. "I don't see any cuts on her so that does not belong to her." Hash stated. "Indeed, not to mention the scroll stated that there were two ponies in distress" Dark added on. "Seeming how she came from further up the trail we can only assume that is where the other pony is." "We could go up ahead to see but what about her?" Hash asked concerned for the young foal. "You, Doc, and I will go further up the trail." Dark turned and pointed a hoof at the rest of their party. "The rest of you take the filly back to the outpost." Nopony questioned the general, they only saluted. Flick placed the filly who had fallen asleep from crying on her back and the split group headed in their designated directions. "I hope she will be alright" Hash said. "I'm more concerned about that other pony, if that was their blood on her muzzle." The stallion was in great pain but that was expected when you stab yourself with a bone. It was darker in the cave than it was before and he could feel something wet underneath him. "Probably my blood" He winced when he got to his hooves. "Dam this is almost as bad as-" Memories began to flash in his mind. Memories he had wanted to be forgotten. He shook his head to dispel the unwanted reminders of his past. "Although as amusing as you being tormented is. You have more important matters to attend to." Although he hated to agree with the pest in his head, the stallion knew it was right. With pained effort he began his journey to the entrance of the cave and the closer to the light he got he noticed the lightly mix of green and red blood ran down his chest. "Better stitch this up with the sewing kit in my bags." "Good idea that's totally not going to hurt like Tartarus." Ignoring the voice the stallion pulled out the sewing needle and some medical grade stitching. He took a deep breath and drove himself into further agony. About Time (Minor Dark)Chapter 3 About Time (Minor Dark) The sky was turning orange, that is what Hash noticed and when the sky turned orange then night would descend unleashing whatever terrors that lurked inside. Time was running out, they had left the outpost two hours ago and they only recently found one of the ponies that they came to rescue. If they couldn't find the other then they were more than likely going to be left for dead. "We'll keep looking for another thirty minuets. If we can't find them then.... I won't put your lives in danger." Dark stated. Doc looked at him curiously. "Isn't putting your life on the part of what being a guard is about?" "If we were anywhere else yes, but, at night this place is on par with the Everfree forest. And I will not ask for you to basically commit suicide for somepony that may already be dead." Hash continued to look around while Doc and Dark debated what would be best to do. She then noticed slight movement in a nearby bush which she proceeded to look behind hoping it was the pony they were looking for. What she found behind the bush was not a pony but a strange looking lizard creature. The creature had a green shell like carapace, the body stance like a rat but its neck curved like a snake, Its tale was about six inches long with a scythe like blade on its end. The creature had small curved red spikes protruding out staring from the top of its head, down its back and ending at the tail. The creature had triangular eyes which seemed to glow a deep shade of red, two large fangs could be seen sticking out its lips on either side of its mouth. Its fangs, claws, and tail spike were as black as night But none of this mattered to what laid underneath its black claws. A rabbit or what used to be called a rabbit, one of its legs was hanging out of the creatures mouth, its chest and torso were pried open, and some of its innards could be found in random areas as if they were tossed around. The creature just stared at Hash as she looked back pale faced at the horror she had found. "Hash get away from that thing!" Doc yells, tossing a stone at the creature. The stone misses but with a frightened hiss the creature turns and runs into a small hole in the ground. "W-what was t-that?" Hash stammers still shocked at what she had discovered. "That was one of the few creatures that live outside of Equestria." Dark said walking up to the hole. "I heard stories about them from travelers, I think they call them Dracken." "I think we should keep moving" Doc said while nudging Hash to start walking away from the rabbit remains. Twenty minutes later "You ok Hash?" Doc asked concerned for his friend who had said nothing since their.... discovery. "Ye-Yeah, I just never seen something that..." Hash slowly goes quite the memory of the gruesome image of the Dracken and the ripped open rabbit comes back into her mind. Dark was a little further ahead of Doc and Hash. As much as he hated seeing one of his subordinates distressed they had a job to do and time was running out. Up ahead Dark can see the outlines of what looked liked a destroyed cart. "Looks like we found what we are looking for" Dark said to his companions, both of whom looked at the wreckage ahead of them. "I hope were not to late" Hash whispered finally breaking the silence she had held for twenty minutes. The closer they approached the cart they couldn't see any signs of anypony that would be nearby. When they walked around the wrecked cart they found two things: 1.) There was a dead manticore amongst the cart debris, 2.) There was a dark gray Earth pony stallion laying on his back next to a tree a yard away from said manticore corpse. "What in the buck" Doc whispered to himself. After a moment Dark nudges him with a hoof. "You should probably go and see if that pony is alive" Dark says reminding Doc of the reason why they were there. The three ponies walk past the manticore to the stallion next to the tree. "This guy took a major beating from that manticore" Doc said with a whistle, as he examined the stallion. "I-Is he d-dead?" Hash muttered. By the end of the day she'll probably have nightmares for months. Doc placed one of his ears over the stallions chest focusing on hearing for a sign of life. "His heart is beating very slowly and his breathing even slower." Doc pulls his head up to further examine his patient. "Minor cuts to his muzzle a broken foreleg and.... Wait a minute." Doc takes a closer look at the stitching on the stallions chest. "It looks like he or somepony stitched up thins chest wound." "Well that's good isn't it?" Hash asked "Frankly that isn't really important, but is, is that this wound couldn't have been caused by that manticore the laceration doesn't match the animals teeth, claws, or tail size." "So what caused it? Do you think that Drak-whatever did this?" Hash asked looking around for any signs of the creature they encountered earlier. "No this did that" Dark says tossing a bloodied bone fragment on the ground. "There's a trail of blood from here to a cave nearby I think our friend here did this to himself." "But why would he-" Doc stops his question and notices that there is some green mixed with the stallions blood on his coat. Getting his face closer to the anomaly he sniffs it just to reel his head back coughing. "What? Are you alright Doc?" Hash asks her friend with concern. "I'm fine" Doc clears his throat. "There's manticore poison mixed with his blood. My best bet is that he wounded himself so the poison wouldn't get to his heart." "Clever crazy bastard" Dark says with what could have been suppressed smirk. "Didn't so good seeming how he probably lost a lot of blood to get the poison out." "He probably still is since he cut open an artery that leads to his heart." Doc pulls out a small vile from his medical bag and pours the contents down the unconscious pony's throat. "This will heal his internal bleeding but wont do much for his leg. We need to get him back to the outpost if I'm to treat him properly" "Then we better use a teleportation spell, private Hash if you will." Dark says as he nudges her. "Uh- yes sir!" Hash says as she fires up her horn, she wasn't very good with advanced magic but teleportation came a little easier for her. Silver aura surrounds the four ponies and with a bright flash they were gone. Author's Note Well that took forever eh? I'm really relieved that I got this chapter done. Speaking of which next one will probably be longer now I am out of school and have a job so hope this chapter will be satisfying for you all. Also shocker the green wasn't Changeling blood OMG! yah thought I was going to pull something as cliché as that? All seriousness I will have a changeling in this story but not for a while so sorry for those who were excited for "The Stallion" being a changeling but he is in fact a Earth pony. Also he does have a name I'm not going to leave him with something that lame. Mental ConferenceChapter 4 Mental Conference "Whelp this is boring" the stallion says as he sits once again in the all to familiar darkness of unconsciousness. "Why is its always so gloomy in here?" "Well it's not like you're here very often so I made myself at home over time" "So you at home is crushing misty darkness?" "Yes" "You're so depressing, you know that right?" "At least I didn't get my flank kicked by a juvenile manticore, which by the way with all of what we've experienced in the Badlands would have been trivial." "Ah whatever you're still depressing." "Well what do you expect? I am a being created in your mind as a different personality trapped in here until whenever you let me out. So yes I'm a little depressing!" "Okay, okay yeesh, tell you what if we're not dead from blood loss I will look into finding a way to get you your own body. Is that cool with you?" "Yeah, that's cool... thanks." "No problem.... I hope that kid was rescued." "Why? We don't even know her why would you even care about some random foal? " "First, you know full well I don't ever care for anyone except for my top five trusted friends. And then younglings because I just do." "Five? Ok I know who two are who are the others?" "One is my father and well...The other is you." "Me?" "Well ya we've been together since-" The stallion stops to ponder at how long they have been together. "Anyway, after all this time I just considered you as a friend I could trust. I mean if I couldn't trust what's in my mind, who could I?" "It scares me at how much sense you just made.....Oh Faust we really are dying!" "Oh relax we've been through worse." The voice gave a sigh "To true. Anyway did you have another reason for caring for that foal other than that being how you are?" "Well she saved our flank for one. And.... I don't know there is just something about her that makes me care." "....." "...." "You're one sick pedo pony aren't you?" "Oh, grow up you know what I mean. And another thi-gah!" The stallion gave a pained huff grabbing his left fore leg. "Ah! What the bloody hell?! My leg feels like its being torn off." "Don't you mean bloody Tartarus? " The voiced said mockingly. "Ffffuck you I don't have to stick to them dam Equestrian PG-13 bullshit!" The stallion said clutching his left fore leg. "Dam this hurts" "Well we are passed out next to a tree so, maybe were being eaten by some scavenger." The stallion take a deep breath as the pain slowly subsides. "Huh, it stopped hurting. So either something ate my leg and then left, ooor something really weird is happening to our body." "What? like some weird kinky fetish?" "I hope not. I don't know about you but I'd rather not me getting kinky molestation whilst being unconscious.... Your not into that kind of thing are you?" "I don't feel comfortable talking about what I do or don't like to do in bedroom since not even I know what I'm into, due to not actually having any experience in that sort of thing." "Well at least we have something in common there." "Changing the subject, when do you think we'll wake up? If were not already dead that is." "No clue. For all we know we could be in a coma and will never wake up agai-" Suddenly a blinding light overtakes the dark void of the stallions mind. The stallion closes his eyes to shield them from the bright menace. The stallion begins to hear a consistent mechanical beeping, the smell of disinfectant overwhelms his senses, he could feel a soft pillow under his head and an uncomfortable pressure on his chest and legs. "Ah, so your awake?" a voice asked out from somewhere. "Wh-Where am I?" the stallion asked, slowly opening his eyes so they may adjust to the light. "You are in a hospital, more specifically the critical care ward." "Well that's just dandy doc do little." The stallion gave a sighed "But, I guess it's better than being dead." "Oh no you were dead." "What?" "Dead for about five minutes I think. If it wasn't for that unicorn guard mare willing to transfuse as much blood that she could give you would probably still be dead." "Great" The stallion said with a irritated tone. "I'm sorry but, you sound upset." "I just lost a fifteen hundred bit bet, so yah, I'm a bit upset." "A bet? On what?" The unknown voice which the stallion determined as feminine asked. "On how long it would take me to be in Equestria and not die..... I betted it would at least two weeks." "I thought it would take you three days." "Shut it ass." "Ex-excuse me!?" The mare said shocked if not angrily due to the fact the stallion just said that out loud. "Don't mind that captain the colt talks to himself quite often." Another voice came into the conversation but, this one the stallion recognized. "Been so long since anypony called me colt." The stallion opened his eyes to find a dark gray pegasus looking back at him with a small smirk on his muzzle. "Good to see you haven't kicked the bucket yet ya old hardass." "You should not insult the general since he helped save your sorry flank!" the faceless mares voice warned with a growl. "And may I ask who is the pony that thinks they should intimidate a poor beaten pony who has just awakened from a terrible traumatizing experience?" The stallion said with a mock pitiful face. The stallion also attempted to place a hoof to his forehead but, for some reason his leg was not moving. Looking down to where his hoof was the stallion saw that he was in fact held down by a restraint wrapped over his barrel and right fore leg. "Umm Dark?" The stallion asked slightly amused. "Yes" Dark responded his tone and expression remaining neutral. "Why am I tied down like some lunatic in a psych ward?" Dark didn't respond to the stallions question instead, he walked closer to the stallion looking directly in his eyes. "Dark, you better stop whatever dramatics you are playing at and just tell me what the problem is." "I believe that is something I should do." An unfamiliar voice came from the rooms entrance. Standing there was a brown earth pony wearing a medical uniform. "And who are you?" "My name is Doc and this is Hash" Doc made a side step from the door letting in a magenta unicorn wearing a guards armor. Hash gives the stallion a smile and a wave of her hoof. "Hash here is the one that donated blood for me to transfuse into you. If it weren't for her you would be dead." "But, didn't I die anyway?" The stallion said with a chuckle. "Do you really find that funny?" Again the faceless mare asks in a harsh tone. "Just a little. By the way I don't think I've met you yet mind showing you're self?" "No I have more important tasks to take care of. May I take my leave general?" "Yes you may captain." "Thank you general." The mare said before there was a bright flash of light of a pony teleporting. "Well she seemed nice. A bit cold but that's expected of a guard captain I guess." The stallion said. "But, could we get back to the subject of me being tied down?" "Ah" Doc said. "Well you see before Hash teleported us here to the hospital I gave you a healing potion for your wounds." Doc started to pace from side of the room to the other. "But, it didn't do much for some of your major wounds such as the crude operation you gave yourself." "Well I had to do something about the poison" "And you solved that problem easily by making a large hole in your chest." Doc said with a deadpan expression. "Anyway when we got you to surgery to properly stitch you up a, slight complication occurred when we did an x-ray on your broken leg." "And?" "It wasn't broken. It was crushed. There would be no way for it to heal." "I-I see, is that all?" The stallion asked with a slight twitch of his eye. "Unfortunately no. Your leg had gotten infected somehow and we.....couldn't save the leg." "Oh Faust, don't you dare say what I think you are going to say" The stallion said with a small growl. "It's best if you see for yourself." Dark said, unlatching the restraint around the stallions barrel. The stallion took a deep breath before looking down at his leg, or to the unfortunate reality lack of one. "Just perfect." The stallion huffed. "Now I lost an extra four hundred bits." "Is that really all your concerned about!?" Dark yelled smacking the Stallion on the back of the head. "Hey, I have my priorities and you got your own." "I swear I might just get a migraine and you haven't been awake for more than three minutes." Dark said whilst rubbing his forehead with a hoof. "Um, not to interrupt or anything but, do you to know each other?" Hash asked looking at the stallion and her C.O. "Ah, yes introductions are in order I believe." Dark said. .... ........ ........... "Introduce yourself you damned idiot!" Dark barked (Heh) while again smacking the backside of the stallions head. "Ow! Ok, Ok." The stallion said waving his hoof at Dark to keep him from smacking him again. Looking at both Doc and Hash the stallion sighed before putting on a friendly smile. "My name is Hunter Moon, son of Dark Moon, and I wish to thank you both for saving my life." Author's Note How do you do readers it's about damn time I gave away the name reveal. Also as usual I would like to receive any and all feedback so as I may be able to plan on fixing any and all problems that I may have overlooked because, honestly I'm just writing the story as what comes to mind. Hope you all enjoy will be some time to write next chapter (A.K.A need to brainstorm of what comes next.) and because of my working hours but, again enjoy and have a wonderful time. "Wait what about that little filly from before? Is she ok or what?" Dammit Hunter I said the note section was my time get out of here! "I don't have to listen to you ass muffin" "Did somepony say muffin?" Derpy? Just, the both out now or I'm putting us on hiatus "Fine whatever your story telling sucks anyway. Now if I was in charge of the writing-" If you were in charge I'd be broke somehow, now skedaddle! Little To No ExplanationChapter 5 Little To No Explanation Narrator: Previously on Outcast. The mysterious stallion had a heart to heart with whatever that voice is inside his head, and afterwards woke up in a hospital room. After no real developmental conversation between the stallion, Dark, Hash, and Doc the stallion revealed himself to be the son of general Dark Moon. What kind of crazy events will happen next? There was silence in the hospital room. Doc stood in place eyes wide and mouth slightly open while Hash wore a look of someone being told that Celestia was never real and that their whole life was a lie (Just like the cake) looking back and forth between the stallion named Hunter and her superior officer. "I think I broke them" Hunter said with a chuckle. "Yes , well I think that Doc and I need to get back to work while, you and the private need to get some rest." "Sir, I'm fine." Hash said taking a step forward only to slightly stumble on nothing. "No you are not, you gave a large amount of blood to save this idiot and you will have a weeks leave from your guard duties until Doc says otherwise." "Excuse me but, I'm not an idiot, I am a royal dumbass. I have done a lot of stupid shit to earn my title and I shall be called as such." "Language" Dark said smacking Hunter upside his head. "But-" "That is an order private" Dark gave Hash a hard glare. "Sir, yes sir" Hash sighs hanging her head down dejected. "Good, now have a nurse escort you home safely" Hash gave no reply, she simply nodded and left the room. "Well I'll just let you two be alone then." Doc says as he also left the room. Silence engulfs the room, both stallions gazing at the door which Hash and Doc exited from. The only sound that can be heard is the beeping of the hospital machines and the ticking of the clock hanging above the door. Tick "So." "So." Tick Tick "Did you find a filly on the road before you got to me?" "We did." "That's good to hear." Tick "Was she traveling with you?" "No, found her hiding under the wreckage." "Surprising she hadn't been found by the manticore." "Mmhm" Tick "Where is she now?" "Why?" "She saved my life." "How?" "She killed the manticore." "Really?" "Yep." Tick Tick Tick "That must be somewhat embarrassing." "Just a little." Tick Tick Tick Tick "So?" Dark lowered his head with a sigh. "She is currently housed at the barracks." [color9426af]"Have you got any idea who she is? Where she's from?" "No, we've have tried questioning her but she hasn't uttered a word. Doc examined her but he couldn't find anything wrong with her." "Hmm." "What is it?" "I want to see her." Dark looks at Hunter with a raised eyebrow, his expression remained unreadable. Hunter gives Dark a stern glare challenging his father to reject his request. "Very well." "Good." "But, she will be placed as your responsibility which means until we find out who she is and where her home is she will be staying with you." "Seems a bit unorthodox for that don't ya think?" "Consider it a punishment for leaving for five years and when you do return I find you near the brink of death." "Eh, fair enough. So when will I be discharged from here?" "Doc says you are fit enough to leave." Hunter smiles at this and flips onto his stomach but, when he attempts to get off his be his face becomes intimate with the floor. "But, you may need to do physical therapy for your lost appendage." "Good to know. Also ooowww." "Oh yes, I almost forgot" "Wha-" Hunters question is cut off when Dark quickly lifts him up and wraps his hooves around trapping him in a tight embrace. "I'm so glad that you are alright" Hunter grins and hugs back for all of five seconds before he begins to push away. "Ok, this is getting emotional I think I'll just head to my hidey hole and rest." Dark releases his son wiping away a small build up of tears. "Very well, I kept your place as you left it." "So a complete wreck and a possible health hazard as you would call it?" "That is correct" Dark said with a deadpan. "Perfect. Your the best pops." Hunter smiles at his father giving him a short one legged hug before he began hobbling out of the hospital room. Dark stays were he stands chuckling with a smirk on his face watching Hunter leave. "Oh he's going to be pissed at me later but, it was worth it." For what Hunter didn't know was when Dark meant he left everything the way it was that also included all the food that was being refrigerated for five years...... The smell is going to be awful. Author's Note So this is pretty short for something that I started working on immediately after the last chapter but, you know how it is work, reading other fimfics and youtube cuts into a lot of writing time. Also the fact I have been drawing blanks for ideas for how future events of the story are going to come together.
PrologueOutcast Prologue By: Huntersquad6 Far out into the badlands near the Equestrian border lies many dangers from the common Hydras and Manticores to deadly monsters that even ponies never have come into contact with.
