//-------------------------------------------------------// CMC: The Mare Chronicles -by Just A Random Pegasus- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Cutie-Marked Best Friends //-------------------------------------------------------// Cutie-Marked Best Friends The lights on the stage turned off as the curtains closed. The entire audience then erupted in a huge applause, especially Scootaloo, Rarity, and Apple Bloom. The moon shone brightly in the sky, making a very beautiful night. Meanwhile, backstage, Sweetie Belle was taking off her performing outfit. "Another day, another concert." Sweetie said to herself as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. She had thick eyeliner and mascara on, including some blush and eye shadow. Rarity had advised for her to wear a lot of makeup when performing. She smiled at herself. She had come a long way since she had first gotten her cutie mark for singing. "Sweetie Belle!" Apple Bloom and Scootaloo remarked as they ran up to Sweetie and gave her a hug. "Congrats! You were great!" Apple Bloom exclaimed. "I agree! You keep getting better and better!" Scootaloo added on, hoof-bumping her friend. "Oh, Sweetie, your singing voice is still as beautiful as ever!" Rarity remarked, walking up to her sister. "I think it's more than enough to impress your date tomorrow, hmm?" Sweetie blushed a faint shade of red. "Rarity, I-" Apple Bloom giggled. "I know Button Mash will be impressed. Ever since ya two got back together, he wouldn't stop leavin' ya alone!" Sweetie flushed even more. "Yeah, neither of us want to separate again. That was too painful." "I bet." Scootaloo remarked before her face lit up. "Wait... aren't you coming back to Ponyville with us tonight?!" Sweetie nodded. "Yep! And then I'm going on a date with Button tomorrow!" Scootaloo got an even brighter smile. "Hey! We should sleepover at my place tonight!" "Yeah! I haven't had a sleepover with you girls in at least a couple months!" Sweetie Belle responded, smiling brightly. "Well, then let's go, ya'll!" Apple Bloom remarked as she ran with her friends to get onto the train. Sweetie Belle had a short performance, so she didn't have to stay after to sign autographs and take pictures like normal. Rarity walked gracefully behind them, wanting to look sophisticated while walking the streets of Canterlot. Soon after Sweetie Belle became a mare, she moved to Canterlot to perform at the nicest concerts they have to offer. Scootaloo and Apple Bloom stayed in Ponyville while working with their special talents: scooting and painting. Scootaloo performs on her scooter, doing insane stunts. Apple Bloom set up her own painting business by Sweet Apple Acres, and receives very nice profits. Overall, they were doing very well. The train ride took a while, but soon they were in Ponyville. It was very late at night, causing them to be very tired. "Well, I'll see you girls later!" Rarity exclaimed before looking at Sweetie Belle. "We need to go to the spa tomorrow, Sweetie! It's been a while!" Sweetie Belle nodded. "Of course!" She then waved to her sister and looked back at her friends. "Now... who wants to have one of the best sleepovers ever?" "Us!" Scootaloo and Apple Bloom agreed as they ran to Scootaloo's place. When they entered, they saw many ribbons won by Scootaloo herself. They were all from The Equestria Daredevil Competition, where Scootaloo showed off her skills. Scootaloo spread her wings and hovered in the air. Her wings had grown since she was a filly, enabling her to fly. Rainbow Dash had shown her many tricks to do in the air, which she instantly mastered; being so good on the scooter. "So... are we all sleeping in guest rooms?" Apple Bloom asked as Scootaloo shook her head. "Let's sleep on the pull-out beds down here, so we all can tell each other awesome stuff that's happened to us!" Scootaloo suggested as the two nodded. "Ah also want to know how Sweetie's relationship is goin'," Apple Bloom responded, playfully raising an eyebrow at Sweetie Belle. Sweetie giggled. "Sure. I'll explain the details to you." "No way! Button is a real flatterer!" Scootaloo remarked as Sweetie Belle nodded her head. "Yeah! I really didn't expect him to do that. He's really changed since he was a colt, that's for sure." "Sounds like it!" Applebloom responded. "Yeah! And now that I told you guys my relationship news... what about you? Any secrets you want to share?" Sweetie Belle asked as she fluttered her eyelashes at her friends. Scootaloo turned her head away as Apple Bloom laughed. "I'm not interested in anypony, ya silly filly!" Sweetie Belle nodded her head. "I guess I would expect that from you. I'm just helplessly romantic at times, so it's no wonder I'm dating." Apple Bloom giggled again. "Well, you're related to Rarity. According to mah sister, she is the biggest romantic in all of Equestria!" "Yeah, she sure is!" Sweetie Belle responded as she looked over at Scootaloo, who had her head turned. "Are you alright, Scootaloo?" "Yeah, I'm fine!" Scootaloo responded quickly as she kept her head turned from her friends. "Uh... let's move onto the next subject," Sweetie Belle suggested. She then brightly smiled. "Scootaloo, how's the show business doing?" Scootaloo turned back around to face Sweetie Belle. "It's awesome! Everypony wants to see me perform! Heck, I'm even giving out autographs to some foals!" Scootaloo beamed. "Wow, ya remind me a lot of Rainbow Dash," Apple Bloom remarked as Scootaloo cocked her head. "Thank you, that's very flattering! But... why?" "Well, you are becomin' admired by the foals of Ponyville, just like you admired Rainbow Dash. You are also showin' off your talents, just like Rainbow did at times. I wouldn't be surprised if a foal asks for you to take them under your wing!" Apple Bloom responded as Scootaloo got a huge smile. "Yeah... maybe!" Scootaloo exclaimed as she yawned. "I don't know about you girls, but I need to get some shut-eye. Don't want to perform tomorrow seeming drowsy!" Sweetie Belle nodded her head in agreement. "I agree with that. I have to seem nice for Button tomorrow!" "Yeah, Ah better do the same thing. Ah have to get to my shop early tomorrow mornin'" Apple Bloom agreed. Scootaloo then got adjusted on her bed. "Alright... well, goodnight!" "Goodnight!" Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom chorused. Scootaloo then turned off the lights as the three drifted off into a slumber. Author's Note I've already written a few stories explaining Sweetie Belle and Button Mash's relationship, which you could find here (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/273073/broken-promise). I will update this story occasionally, and I don't expect it to be over soon. I have quite a few ideas up my sleeve that I've been wanting to write for a while now. Well, I hope you like it so far! :pinkiehappy: https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiehappy.png //-------------------------------------------------------// Adrenaline Rush //-------------------------------------------------------// Adrenaline Rush Scootaloo felt the wind flow through her mane as she quickly scooted along the ground. She jumped a ramp, and did a front-flip in the air. She then landed on her scooter again, and landed perfectly on the ground. Ponies in the audience applauded as Scootaloo did a few spins perfectly on her scooter. At the end of her performance, confetti shot out of a few cannons as the crowd applauded even louder. "Thank you!" Scootaloo remarked as she took off for backstage. At this time, anypony who wanted autographs from Scootaloo could go back and see her. Most of the time, it was foals who wanted to be just like her. That was what she expected, and loved to see. Apple Bloom was right. They reminded her of herself and Rainbow Dash, and how much of a bond they have. She heard hoof-steps coming nearer. She turned and put on a smile for whoever was coming. She got herself ready to greet a foal that would eagerly bounce up and down with a paper in their hooves. Scootaloo then saw a full-grown stallion come over. She knew who he was from first glance. His dark, slicked mane, purple eyes and silver coat with a raincloud adorning his flank. It was Rumble. "Hey, Scootaloo!" Scootaloo felt her head turn away as he looked at her. She fumbled through her thoughts to find the right words. "Hey, Rumble! W-what's up?" She asked as she felt her face heat up. She tried to make eye contact, but his eyes made her flush even harder. "Not much! Rainbow Dash gave me the day off, so I decided to see you perform. You have really improved since you first got your mark, that's for sure!" Scootaloo felt her heart do somersaults. Rumble spent his time... to watch her? She looked up at him and smiled. "Thanks! Say... what are you planning on doing the rest of the day?" When Scootaloo said that, she felt like punching herself. It sounded a lot like she was about to ask him out. "Uh... I'm probably visiting my bro, Thunderlane. You?" Oh, thank Celestia he didn't question me about that... Scootaloo thought. She then took a breath. "Well, I'm probably going to fly and scooter the rest of the day. It's a nice stress reliever, that's for sure." Rumble nodded. "Yep! Now... I'll leave you alone. It's nice seeing you again, Scootaloo!" "Nice seeing you, too!" Scootaloo responded as she saw Rumble trot off. When he was out of sight, she sighed rather loudly. She silently cursed herself for being awkward and shy. She then plopped down on a seat. For a few months now, she had developed something... different for Rumble. She recently admitted to herself that she is crushing hard, and said to herself that she wouldn't tell anypony; not even her closest friends. She was too shy to speak up anyway. She knew that if she told them, her friends might try to hook her up with Rumble. Scootaloo wouldn't mind it too much, but she just felt like it would be awkward. She also didn't want to be thought of as "mushy" or "girly" for crushing. Maybe I'll get over him soon... she thought. Deep inside, that thought pained her. She didn't want to get over him for some reason. Liking him made her feel happy, and gave her a heartwarming feeling she had never felt before. She buried her face in her hooves, hoping she wouldn't fall too much more for him. "This is very nice, Button. May I ask where you got this recipe?" Sweetie Belle asked as she ate her lunch her colt-friend had made for her. Button smiled. "I got this from my mom. She's always sending me more recipes so I don't get hungry," Button remarked as he ate a little. "Why? Is it your favorite food in all of Equestria?" Sweetie giggled a little. "Well, it's not my favorite food ever, but I really enjoy it." Button laughed as well. "I agree. Now... can I ask about your schedule?" "Schedule? What do you mean?" "Well... how much you're performing. I-I want to be able to see you more... and it's hard to when you're in Canterlot..." Button responded as he looked down to the ground. "I'll be busy performing all week. But I understand what you're saying." Sweetie then held his hoof in hers and looked straight into his eyes. "I have been missing you, too. But I promise that I will come by and visit at least once every two weeks." "Two? What about one?" "Well, I can't make any promises that I can come every week. I just don't want to lie to you." "I completely understand." With that, Button kissed Sweetie Belle. Sweetie felt the rush flow through her body, and butterflies flying like crazy in her stomach. It was a feeling that she never wanted to lose. The bell rung as the door swung open in Apple Bloom's shop. "Hello, welcome to Bloom Painting! How may Ah help ya?" As soon as Apple Bloom saw who came through the door, her jaw dropped. "Well, if it isn't Apple Bloom?" Diamond Tiara remarked. Apple Bloom shook her head in disbelief. "What are ya doin' here?" Apple Bloom asked as Diamond moved her mane to the side of her face. "I came to ask why you painted my house with such... horrific colors! I would rather the bathrooms be white instead of blue, and my room be a light shade of pink!" Diamond complained as Apple Bloom rolled her eyes. "Ya never asked me to paint your house. Ah just did what looked nice to me and the house builders." Diamond stuck her head up in the air. "I'm happy I'm moving to Canterlot. Ponies here have very little... refined tastes!" Diamond finished as she strolled out of the shop. "She still hasn't changed a bit..." Apple Bloom said to herself as she read over what she was painting tomorrow. "Alright... Ah'll need blue, yellow, and white..." Apple Bloom remarked as she walked towards the back closet to get a few sets of paint out. She always wanted to have her materials ready for the next day, so she could just grab and go. She took the cans of paint outside and closed her shop. "Another day's work..." Applebloom said to herself as she walked inside Sweet Apple Acres and into the barn. Author's Note Each chapter will have scenes from Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle's daily life. //-------------------------------------------------------// Sisterly Bonding //-------------------------------------------------------// Sisterly Bonding Sweetie Belle made her way to the Carousel Boutique. It was a very nice day; the breeze was nicely blowing, and the sun gave off a refreshing heat. Sweetie knocked on the door. "One second!" A voice from the inside called. The door was soon opened as Sweetie Belle saw Rarity facing her. "Oh, Sweetie! Are you ready to go to the spa?" Rarity asked as Sweetie nodded. "Sorry I couldn't go with you yesterday. Button and I spent more time with each other than we realized," Sweetie responded as Rarity giggled. "It's fine! We just have to make sure not to get the really expensive treatment, since you have to get back to Canterlot!" The two then started walking to the spa. "Well, I don't have to right now. I don't have another concert for a week! I want to spend some time with my friends here, first!" Rarity nodded in agreement. "I understand. But I do think you should leave by tomorrow. You should probably practice with the orchestra before you perform next week." Sweetie looked down to the ground. "I know..." She then smiled and looked up. "But it's fine! I'm going to visit every two weeks now!" Rarity smiled. "Really? That's great news!" "Yep! Apparently Button wants to spend even more time with me. Well, I'm the same way. Things get lonely without him." "I can see that. Oh, young love..." Rarity responded as she fluttered her eyelashes. The two soon reached the spa. When they got to the counter, the spa ponies, Aloe and Lotus, recognized the two immediately. 'Welcome, Rarity and Sweetie Belle! The usual?" "Most certainly!" Rarity responded as Aloe went to get the treatment ready. Rarity then turned to Sweetie Belle. "Ready for a treatment?" "Of course!" Sweetie Belle responded. "The spas in Canterlot are way too fancy for me. And plus, I never have time to get a treatment there. I'd rather come here!" "Rarity, Sweetie Belle, follow me," Lotus said. Rarity and Sweetie Belle walked over to a massage table. As soon as they were seated, Rarity looked over to Sweetie Belle. "So... any huge performances coming up?" Sweetie thought before a huge smile crossed her face. "Oh, I forgot! I'm performing at the gala this year!" Rarity's jaw dropped. "You're... performing... at the..." "That's right. I'm going to be singing a few songs for about a half hour. Princess Celestia said that my voice would be perfect for the atmosphere there." Rarity squealed. "Oh, you don't know how envious I am of you, Sweetie! I promise to be there watching you!" "Thanks so much, Rarity!" Sweetie responded, her gaze softening. "I don't know what I would do without a sister like you..." Scootaloo flew through the air, letting the cool breeze flow through her mane. She would normally take her scooter, but she decided to give her legs a break and let her wings take over. Flying is something that she would never take for granted. The inability to fly as a filly caused a lot of aggravating and painful moments, and she didn't want to go through the same experiences. She soon reached Rainbow Dash's cloud house. Yesterday, Rainbow had been very busy with the weather. It was a confusing day. Apparently, a mare accidentally sent a few rainclouds to Canterlot, and caused lightning strikes to appear every minute in Ponyville. Rainbow Dash had to fetch the clouds in Canterlot, bring them back to Ponyville, and stop the lightning strikes. Scootaloo felt like yesterday wasn't the day to talk to her. She knocked on the light blue door, signaling her arrival. Hoof-steps were heard coming closer to the door. The door then opened to reveal Rainbow Dash, who smiled brightly. "Hey, squirt! Come in!" Rainbow greeted as she held the door open for her sister. "Hey, Rainbow!" Scootaloo responded as she walked over to the couch and sat down. Rainbow then closed the door and walked over to her. "How's it been? Have you dazzled the ponies of Ponyville with your tricks?" Scootaloo nodded. "Yeah! How's the weather business going for you?" "Well... except for that incident yesterday, it's going really well! A few months ago, I hired a stallion named Rumble. He's become one of the most awesome ponies on the weather team!" Rainbow responded, spreading her wings. "Oh, hehe, that's cool!" Scootaloo stammered, nervously looking to the ground. Rainbow Dash could tell something was up. "Scoots? Are you alright?" Scootaloo buried her face in her hooves. "I'm girly..." Rainbow raised an eyebrow. "You're... what?" "Girly. You heard me." Rainbow Dash looked at her sister, puzzled. "Dashie, do you want me to make lunch?" Said a voice from the kitchen. Scootaloo and Rainbow looked to find Soarin. "Oh, hey, Soar! Yes, you can. I'm having a talk with Scootaloo." "Alright! I'll tell you when lunch is ready! I'll be making something for Scoots as well," Soarin responded as he trotted back in the kitchen. Scootaloo looked over to Rainbow. "Is he staying here now?" "Uh... no. Well, not for long. Just one night..." Scootaloo smiled. "I can't wait for him to become my brother. He's awesome!" Rainbow flushed, but smiled. "He is, isn't he?" Rainbow then looked over at Scootaloo. "Now... enough about my colt-friend. What do you mean when you say you're girly?" Scootaloo looked to the ground. "Well... ya see... I kind of..." "Think you're not awesome? We've been through this before. You're the second awesomest Pegasus in Equestria! Well, I am the awesomest. Sorry." Scootaloo shook her head. "It's not that. I, well, am in love with Rumble..." Scootaloo responded, her voice softening word by word. Rainbow's eyes went wide. "Scootaloo..." "That's why I'm girly! Am I still considered a tomboy when I'm head-over-hooves for somepony?" Rainbow sat down on the couch with her sister and wrapped her wing around her. "Hey, you wanna know something?" "...Sure." "I felt the same way before and after I started dating Soarin. I know I've told you that I was never completely mad for him, but in all truth, I was and still am." Scootaloo looked back at her sister. "R-really? You felt... just like me?" Rainbow nodded. "You betcha. And it's not true. We're both still awesome, even though we love somepony." Scootaloo's face turned red. "I-I guess so..." "Well, I know so. Falling for somepony is completely natural. You don't have to be girly to be affected." Scootaloo responded. "Thanks, Rainbow. It means a lot to me that you're willing to talk about this." Rainbow smiled. "Hey, no problem!" She then giggled a bit. "You wanna know how Soarin asked me out? Maybe you'll be able to use his technique." Scootaloo's face became even redder. "I don't plan to ask him out just yet." "Well, if you ever do." Rainbow laughed again. "Soarin used very cheesy pick up lines." "Really?' Scootaloo asked as Rainbow nodded. "Yes. He thought of the cheesiest one and asked me out with it. It was honestly so cheesy, it was funny." "Hey! It was sweet and you know it!" Soarin yelled from the kitchen as Rainbow giggled. "Well, yes." Scootaloo slightly giggled and nuzzled closer to Rainbow Dash. "I don't know how I would live without you, Rainbow..." Apple Bloom brought a few buckets of apples into the barn. The evening breeze engulfed her, and relieved her stress from a day of being covered in different colors of paint. She then saw Applejack looking at her, smiling. "Hey, Apple Bloom! How was your day?" "Great!" "That's what Ah thought. Now, ya wanna have some fun?" Apple Bloom cocked her head. "Sure! What do ya have in mind?" Applejack trotted over to a usually bare side of the orchard. When Apple Bloom found her, she saw bales upon bales of hay scattered all around. "Applejack... what is this?" "An obstacle course! It came to mah mind that we never get to spend some time together, so Ah thought this would be fun!" Apple Bloom smiled. "Oh, this is gonna be so much fun!" "You betcha! Now, let's get ready!" Applejack and Apple Bloom stood at the starting line that was marked with sticks. When Applejack counted to three, the two took off, jumping and avoiding hay bales. The flowing breeze delighted Apple Bloom. The quality time she was spending with her sister delighted her even more. Her feeling of tranquility was broken when Applejack ran past her. "Oh, no, you don't!" Apple Bloom remarked, catching up with her sister. The two ran side by side, somehow not running into each other. The finish line was soon in sight. Applejack took a leap, determined to make it. Apple Bloom slightly giggled as she sprung up and tackled Applejack down. Both of them crossed the finish line. They sat in silence for a moment before laughing. "That was so fun!" Apple Bloom remarked, standing up. "It most certainly was!" Applejack responded, wiping the dust off her orange coat. "We have to do this again! How would tomorrow sound?" Applejack chuckled. "Anything for the best sister ever." Apple Bloom playfully nudged her. "Ya must be talkin' 'bout yourself. It would be hard to live without a sister like you." Applejack smiled. "Ah agree. Now, wanna race back to the barn?" Apple Bloom got a game face on. "Ya bet!" She responded. The two then took off, running at full speed under the setting sun.
