Unknown location

I walked at a snail's pace through the front door of the abandoned hotel turned home for the past two years now. I had just gotten back from a mission. It wasn't hard by any extent, but the five hour-long motorcycle ride on an uncomfortable seat had completely drained me.

"Well don't you look drained." A voice gets my attention. I look up to see Mist, one of my best friends and second in command of the team. He was lounging in the loft while sharping his two-handed sword with a grindstone. "Rough mission?"

"Hardly," I answered with a roll of my eyes. "It wasn't even a real Manticore. It turned out that it was a bunch of local teens playing a prank on the town with a Manticore costume."

"Well considering that we and our friends sometimes do for fun that is pretty normal." Mist comments. "At least it was easy money."

"Not exactly..." I rubbed at the back of my neck as I left the sentence to hang.

"What happened?" Mist asked, but I could tell by his deadpanned tone that he already knew what I was going to say.

"I couldn't take all of the bounty since it wasn't a real Manticore. So I only took about forty percent of the reward money."

"You're too nice sometimes." Mist shook his head with a small smile on his face at his friend and leader's action.

"Probably, so anything happened while I was gone?"

"Not really, everyone is either on a mission or on their way back for one. I'll be heading out to take care of a bandit problem and meet up with Zero in an hour. Though there was something in the mail for you." Mist grabbed a letter from the table standing next to me and tossed it to me with a flick of his wrist.

I grabbed it midair with ease. I looked at the return address to see that it was my mom's secret fake address. I quickly opened it to see what she wanted. Basically there was a festival being held in Ponyville where both Celestia and Luna were attending and she wanted me to come as well along with any members of the team if they wanted to come. She also mentioned that I should talk with the Elements of Harmony.

I couldn't help but sigh at that last piece of information. It looked like his adoptive mother was trying to get him and the girls to make up. At first he didn't want to go, but he gave it more thought. It has been more than two years since they last seen or talked to each other and it didn't end on a good note. He would admit that his actions aided to the sour ending.

The least he could do see them again. Though I was going to make any promises about us actually making up. According to the letter the festive is about three weeks away. Plenty of time to prepare and I could ask everyone if they want to come during our weekly meeting.

"I'll be up in my room taking a nap if you need me." I told my friend as I made my way to the elevator. As I rode it to my floor I couldn't help but think back on how my new life got started all because of a mistake and betrayal by the Elements of Harmony.

It was hard at first, but I kept on going and look at me now. I'm living in an hotel with my twelve friends, in a three way relationship with two amazing girls (surprisingly it was their idea), discovered abilities and magic I didn't know I was capable of, and I'm living the life of excitement and adventure that I always wanted.

A part of me wished that we left on better terms, but maybe we can make up as long as they don't try to make me stay in Ponyville forever. I've made a happy life for myself and I'm not going to give it up just because they want to go back to my former home.

As I walked out of the elevator I hear a voice sing out the lyrics to a familiar song:

The King his men

stole the queen from her bed,

and bound her in her bones.

The seas be ours, and by the powers;

where we will, we'll roam.

'Wait, isn't that the song Discord told me about before?' I thought to myself. 'How did it go again?' I sang the next part of the song in perfect time with the voice.

Yo, ho, all hands,

hoist the colors high.

Heave ho, thieves and beggars;

never shall we die!

Rest of the song was sang by us with two new additions joining in.

Yo, ho, all hands,

hoist the colors high.

Heave ho, thieves and beggars;

never shall we die!

It was quiet for a while as I wait for something to happen. After waiting a couple and nothing happening I shrugged my shoulder and went to my room. It was kind of a let-out. When something like that happens usually something interesting follows. Though that could have just been me going crazy for a minute. Considering who my friends are it isn't that far of a stretch.

I went into my room to see that all was where I lift it, including some new weapons I've been meaning to clean and repair. I notice that Blaze, my phoenix wasn't in the room, probably out for another hunt or something. Deciding to take care of the pile of weapons after my nap I fell onto my bed. It didn't take more than a minute for me to be out like a light.
