The Green Light of Hope... No, Wait That's The Other One.
“It’s a beautiful day, we’re looking for something fun to do, hey baby… STOP SHITTING ON MY FUCKING HEAD!!!” I groaned, or well I groaned as well as I could since you know I was a statue. I heard laughter from my neighbor and cause of my current predicament.
“Oh I’ll never not get tired of that, you’ve been my only source of entertainment these past thousand or so years even if you were the one who put me in this… uncomfortable bind.” There was a bit of anger and a bit of wistful nostalgia in that.
“Oh shut up Discord, you did this to yourself, and I won’t have this conversation with you, but I do want to know WHY THE HELL DO THESE GOD FORSAKEN BIRDS NOT LAND ON YOU?!” I yelled at him mentally, honestly I wasn’t even sure how this worked, I asked him once but he ended up going off on a tangent about peanut butter and penguins, so I decided not to bring that back up lest it be devolved into the same crap.
He was about to answer me but we both heard talking and he got giddy, “Oh looks like we have visitors.”
Ok yes that actually shocked me, mainly because no one visited the gardens anymore least not since Luna was imprisoned, Over heard some of the guards talking about how the populace just wanted to give Celestia some space at first and then it just happened to be that the gardens were off limits or some silly rumor spread by some royal taking advantage of something or other. Things kind of lose meaning after a few hundred years. Actually the only people who do visit are teachers and students every now and again.
“That is some awful timing, really I’m covered in crap.” I grumbled.
“I think it looks good, gives you some color, they left us this nasty grey color, they couldn’t have oh… I don’t know spiced us up, maybe some polkadots here, strips there, swirls over there…” He went off on a tangent and I just decided to ignore him and pay attention on the group of fillies being lead by an older purple and pink mare.

“Yeah, cool, if you were actually victoryful at something.” Applebloom said sardonically to Scootaloo.
“Wait a minute, that’s not a word!” Sweetie Belle said, though not actually correcting Applebloom.
“What are you a dictionary?” Sarcasm drenched Scootaloo’s question.
“Girls!” Cheerilee called out, gaining their attention, making them come over. “Now this is an interesting statue.” she said pointing to discord. “What do you notice about it?” She asked the foals.
“He’s got an eagle claw!” Applebloom said.
“And a lion’s paw!” Scootaloo added.
“And a snake’s tail!” Sweetie Belle interrupted jumping in the air.
“This creature is called a Draconequus, he has a head of a pony and a body made up of all sorts of things.” Cheerilee explained. “What do you suppose that represents?”
“Confusion.” Again, Applebloom.
“Evil!” Sweetie said pushing Applebloom to the side.
“Chaos!” Scootaloo said, doing the same to Sweetie.
Sweetie rebutted Scootaloo, “Not chaos you Dodo!”
Scootaloo defended herself, “Don’t call me thing i don’t know the meaning of! And it is too chaos!”
“Is not!” Sweetie said pushing her nose against Scootaloo’s.
“You’re both wrong.” Applebloom said jumping on both their heads, which then lead them to fighting.
Cheerilee shook her head and spoke up, “Actually in a way you’re all right. This statue represents Discord which means a lack of harmony between ponies. in fact you three have demonstrated discord so well that you’re each going to write me an essay explaining it.” She sighed and turned back around, “Now, what about this statue?” She said pointing to a creature that looked just as strange. It looked like a minotaur except it had no horns or hooves and was wearing weird looking clothes, what was most noticeable about it though is that it had a ring that looked like a strange eye on it.
“Uhm… that rings are cool?” Scootaloo asked unsurely.
Cheerilee looked up in thought, “Ok how about this, how does it make you feel?”
“Well i feel safe near it, despite it have bird poop on it. Like I could do anything no matter what?” Apple bloom suggested.
“Very good Applebloom, aside for the bird comment. What do you call that feeling?”
“Willpower, the thing that drives you when even facing the greatest of fears. it’s what keeps you going in the blackest of nights and what keeps you pushing against the obstacles that slow you down.” Sweetie Belle said in a slight monotoned voice.
Cheerilee had a wide smile, “Very good Sweetie Belle.”
She smiled sheepishly, “I was just reading that plaque there.” She pointed to a small gold plaque at the base of the statue.
“Yes well, all the same. The statute, as said, represents willpower. It’s like when you had a really bad day but you keep on going to make it better to put it simply.” Cheerilee explained.
“Or like when you feel really full but you keep eating anyway so you don’t get yelled at by your parents?” Snails asked, causing the class to laugh.
Cheerilee laughed as well, “Yes I suppose that counts. Oh before we move on they said this statue is a representation of a creature that helped save equestria long ago and he had a chant or a saying that he would say that would inspire others, would you all like to know what it is?” The class nodded in response.
~Back in the statue’s perspective~
They didn’t notice it but I did, when those three fillies were arguing, discord went silent but I could feel it, his power was returning and that wasn’t good.
The voice of the teacher brought him back from his train of thought. “He had a chant or a saying that he would say that would inspire others, would you all like to know what it is?”
“Wait… what? Did my oath actually get told throughout the generations… well that's a kind way to remember me. Let’s see if she got it right… In brightest day-” he started a second before her.
“In brightest day, in blackest night. No evil shall escape his sight. Let those who worship evil’s might… Beware his power the Green Lantern’s light!”
