Chapter 1: Deliverance from society
Norman was an average high school boy from Canterlot HIgh School. He was content with being just that. A normal human being trying his very best to live a decent life. This past year was anything but normal for Norman. First, Canterlot High is nearly taken over by Sunset Shimmer, and later, by a trio of sirens known as the Dazzlings. If it werent for the Elements of Harmony, led by Twilight Sparkle, who was in fact from a different world from which these threats came from, the world awould be a different, and dark place. With all that has happened, it seemed that Norman was finally going to be able to finish high school in peace, and get on with his life just like the rest of his peers. Summer provided a much needed break from all the chaos that Canterlot had gone through.
A couple of months have passed, and summer vacation is nearly over. Seeking one final getaway before returning to school, Norman decided to visit Evertree national park on a camping trip and invite a couple of friends to come with him, Mystery Mint and Wiz Kid. Mystery Mint was an aspiring singer, with purple hair, slender build and was very outgoing and full of spunk. Norman always had a good time with her. Wiz Kid on the other hand, was obsessed with computers, who stuck out like a sore thumb in a crowd due to his brown, bowl cut hair and meek physique. He helped Norman study for finals this past year, which turned out to be a life saver. Norman didnt want to face his parents if he had failed. Wiz wasnt an outdoors type of guy so Norman felt he could use the fresh air.
The weekened before school was the chosen date for this outing, and Norman was happy to provide transportation for his friends. He first stopped by Mint's house to pick her up.
BEEP BEEP! Norman honked his cars' horn to announce his prescense.
Mystery Mint soon came out of her house carrying a large backback. Upon entering the car she just playfully punched Normans shoulder.
"Sheesh Norman, you could of walked up to my door and knocked you know? You probably woke up the whole neighborhood with your honking!"
Norman blushed and replied bashfully.
"Sorry, Im just a little edgy. This is the first time I've ever decided to drive out of town.That, and with friends no less."
Mystery chuckled upon hearing Normans nervous voice.
"Oh, you'll be fine! There's a first time for everything. Besides you were the one who wanted to go camping."
Norman took a deep breath and smiled.
"You're right Mint. I guess Im just trying to be responsible for you and Wiz."
Mint blushed at his answer, impressed with Normans maturity, which was something she and a few other girls at Canterlot High admired about him. Trying not to think too much on such, she shook her head.
"W-well, I guess thats to be expected...nevermind that. Speaking of Wiz, lets go already and pick him up!"
"Hehehe, alright you got it." Norman said as he shifted gears and sped off.

Upon arriving at Wiz Kid's home, Norman got out of his car this time and knocked on the door. He waited awhile before the door opened up, revealing a heavily laden kid, who was huffing and heaving heavily, as if he had just run a marathon. Norman giggled at the scrawny boy's dilema.
"Here let me help you with that."
"Thanks Norman." Wiz chirped happily as he had been relieved of his backback.
As the two entered the car, Wiz Kid pulled out an Ipad Air 2 tablet from his pack, prompting a concerned response from Mystery Mint.
"Geez, dont you ever give your eyes a break Wiz!? We are going camping, not to some electronic convention!"
"I just thought we could use some entertainment along the way." Wiz answered.
"You mean YOU could use some entertainment along the way! Come on Wiz, take a break from your little games!
"LITTLE GAMES!? I'll have you know that this 'little game' as you call it, is a very expensive and advanced piece of hardware, and it was a gift from Scribble Dee too! Its capable of-"
Before Wiz and Mint could continue their tirade, Norman stepped in and broke them up. Occasionally, he would have to settle his friends differences whenever one or the other got annoyed at the other's antics. Norman simply thought to himself "Man, these guys are like little kids sometimes." :P
"All right, all right, guys keep it together, were off to Everfree so buckle up."

The trip to Everfree National Park was loaded with conversation. Mystery Mint teased Wiz Kid over whether he liked Scribble Dee and why he didnt man up and confess to her instead of constanly going and trying to convince her cousin, Curly Winds, to tell her for him.
"You cant hide behind your best friend forever Wiz! I mean, come on! I saw how you shielded Dee during the Fall Formal Dance when Sunset Shimmer turned into a demon! Confess!!"
"I-I dont know what you mean Mint, stop talking out of your butt.....Oooh, shoppers special at Amazing.com."
"Uh uh uh, Wiz! Dont try to wiggle yourself off topic here!"
Norman tried to stay calm and collected with all that was going on around him. His eyes slanted downwards and his face turned into an annoyed frown. This "deliverance from society" was not going too well for Norman. Is a healthy, mild conversation too much to ask for? Appearantly it is for someone as normal as Norman. But that's the price to pay for living a social life. "Then again," Norman thought, "I guess its not too bad." He then smiled, and continued to drive before the morning sun.
