Two weeks have passed since the Summer Sun Celebration. With the Elements returned to the Tree of Harmony, Equestria has been left vulnerable. A troubled Celestia, haunted by her defeat at the royal wedding, fears a second invasion.

When Twilight Sparkle makes an alarming discovery about the changelings, the princesses turn to a mentally-ill scientist from the ancient past. This disturbed sorceress, turned to stone for her attempt on Celestia's life, may be the only one who understands the enemy's power.

Twilight is tasked with aiding and monitoring her. But will their findings kindle hope, or snuff it out?
