For a moment he was confused as to what time it was, then noted that it was still pitch black outside so it must have been the middle of the night. The room was dim and covered with shadows, but Flash could just make out the silhouette of his wife and distraught two month old Starry in her hooves, trying her best to calm her with a worried expression on her face. Flash frowned, worried, and got up to join his anxious wife and child. As his wife turned towards him, he noticed the uneasy look etched on her face making his stomach churn with worry. "Is Starry alright? She's not sick is she?" Flash asked her nervously, seeing the slight flush in his filly's face as well as her distressed cries. He put a gentle hoof to his filly's forehead and was taken aback by the warmth he felt there. Twilight looked at her husband helplessly and shifted the filly in her hooves trying to soothe her, but it was no good. Starry was ill and it was up to the young couple to help her the best they could. "Has she just got a fever? Do you think she's in pain as well?" Flash asked her nervously as he listened to his daughter's whimpers, praying that his little filly wasn't in pain. Twilight shook her head to Flash's relief. "No I don't think she is in pain, but you know what fevers are like, it makes you feel awful. Especially if you've never had one before," Twilight said, a hint of worry still in her voice. "She was fine when I put her to bed though" Flash replied, watching the filly whimpering in her mother's hooves. Twilight gave Flash a sad smile. "That's the thing with kids; they can be fine one hour and off the next," Twilight said. Flash could tell by her voice that she was worried, but she was putting on an act to hide it. Flash placed a foreleg around Twilight's shoulders ad gave her a reassuring kiss on her forehead, making her smile appreciatively and lay her head on his neck while trying to rock Starry at the same time. Flash always knew when she needed support or comfort, and for that she was grateful. "Maybe she just has a bug or something? Foals get sick like this often right?" suggested Flash hopefully as he felt his daughter's forehead again and found it wasn't as hot as he originally thought, but still warm. Twilight nodded. "Yeah they can be, I think. Seeing her like this is worse than I thought it would ever be. She sounds so miserable," Twilight says sadlyvand Flash rubbed her shoulders gently in reassurance. "Could we get her some medicine?" Flash asks, but he looked to the floor when Twilight shook her head. "She's to young," She replied, "At her age, the best we can do is try to cool her down with a wet cloth and hope she sleeps it off." Hearing the foal whimper again, she cuddled Starry closer to her body with a soft coo. Flash sighed, but agreed to Twilight's judgement; she was to young to drink the medicine, but that didn't make Flash feel less hopeless on what to do. "Why don't you go downstairs and get a cold cloth for Starry's head?" Twilight suggested. "It's better than nothing at least. Take Pepper with you-" Twilight added, with a nod towards the dog in the room, who seemed to be pacing around, "-she's as edgy as you are, and that's not helping anyone." Flash nodded and gave the still whimpering filly a gentle nuzzle, before gestering to Pepper to come with him. Pepper looked at Starry nervously, not wanting to leave her, but followed his owner downstairs nonetheless, leaving Twilight alone for the moment with the sick little filly. Upon reaching the lower level of the house, Flash proceeded to get a cold cloth for his daughter's head, hoping that this strategy would at least give the little filly some relief from the fever making her feel so unhappy. Flash felt useless in the fact that he couldn't do much for the little filly, considering her age, and Pepper nudged his owner in an effort to calm him, making Flash smile gratefully at his friend. Flash suddenly heard Twilight give a yelp from the bedroom, and he and Pepper both froze. Why had Twilight yelped like that? Then Twilight's voice came from the bedroom. "Er, Flash could you come back up here please!?" Twilight called out in a pleading voice. Flash's face instantly paled, thinking of the worst, and he and Pepper bolted back upstairs, where Twilight was holding Starry a little further away from her body than she had been when they'd left the room, with a look of revulsion fixed on her face. Flash was about to ask what was wrong, when he suddenly saw exactly what was causing Twilight's behavior. Starry seemed to have been sick. She had thrown up all over Twilight, and Twilight was beginning to look slightly nauseous herself. Pepper shuddered and stuck his tongue out at the mess on Twilight before retreating form the room. If there was one thing the dog wouldn't want to stick around for, it was vomit, and this more than the german shepard ever wanted to see, regardless who made it. Flash couldn't blame the dog for her quick exit as he himself cringed before giving out a sympathetic laugh at the scene in front of him. "Oh sweet Celestia, what a mess! Are you two alright?" Flash asked gently as he went over to investigate. Twilight glared daggers towards her husband. "Do I look alright Flash?" she asked him in disgust, "I've just been thrown up on!" A look of revulsion came over her face as she looked down at her soiled fur. "Ugh...It's everywhere," she shuddered as she not to look at the mess. Flash snorted, but this just caused Twilight to get more irritated than before. She wasn't in the mood to see the funy side of it, when she was the one who was covered in their daughter's mess. "Oh, I'm glad you find it funny," Twilight said, "But do you think you can take Starry before I add to the mess as well?" Flash quickly shut up, and gave his wife an apologetic look. "Sorry, I know it's not funny; it's just the look on your face was priceless! Here," Flash held out his hooves for the filly, "Give me Starry, I'll clean her up so you can get cleaned up" Flash said as Twilight passed a calmer Starry to Flash trying not to throw up herself. "Now if you excuse me, need to go clean up before this get's any bigger," Twilight replied quickly as she rushed to the bathroom. Flash quickly turned his attention back to his baby filly, who was still whimpering a little, but was a lot calmer now, and when Flash placed his hoof to her forehead, he was relieved to find that it was cooler than before, but it was still a fever at present. "You seem better Starry," Flash noted with relief, "Obviously whatever was in your system, you got out; even if it was all over your mummy. Have to admit though, it was a good shot," Flash said in amusement as he carefully cleaned the remaining mess from his daughter's face before changing her diaper and sitting down in the rocking chair with her cuddled in his loving hooves, where Starry looked up at her daddy, slowly calming down despite the last lingering fever. Flash heard a noise at the door and noticed Pepper peeking through the open door, obviously wondering if it was safe to come in, and Flash chuckled. "You're all clear bud, Starry is feeling better," Flash said cheerfully as the dog came back into the room, joining the father and daughter by the rocking chair. Pepper nudged Starry and felt the slightly cooler temperature of her head and gave a goofy dog smile at his owner. "Yeah, she's still warm, but she seems to be doing better" Flash said with a smile. "You can go back to bed if you want. I think she'll be alright for the night," Flash added reassuringly to his dog who nudged one of his legs before returning to his bed. Turning his attention back to his little filly who was still awake due to her warm head. He picked up the cold cloth he had set down after he had taken Starry and put it on her forehead. Starry recoiled a little at the sudden change in temperature, but quickly relaxed, making Flash smile warmly at her. "Does that feel better sweetheart? It's no fun being sick is it?" Flash said softly as he watched his daughter's eyes slowly begin to close as her father rocked her gently, keeping the cold cloth on her head and after a few minutes the baby filly had finally returned to sleep, still a little warm but on the mend. Flash smiled lovingly at his little foal and gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek, careful not to wake her, before standing up from the walking chair; thinking it might be time to put her back to bed when Twilight came back into the room, looking a lot less green than before. "How is she?" asked Twilight gently as she walked over to them and smiled at seeing Starry sleeping peacefully in her husband's hooves. Flash smiled. "She's doing better. I think whatever she had is out of her system now, so she should be able to sleep off the rest of the fever. How do you feel?" Hiccup asked her quietly. Twilight shuddered. "Better now that it isn't all over my fur," Twilight said in disgust as she picked up Starry with her magic and placed her in her cradle, gently removing the wet cloth off her head and placed a light blanket on top of the sleeping filly, before turning to Hiccup with a small smile. "We'll just let her sleep that off now," said Twilight quietly as she moved away from the cradle, and Flash placed a foreleg on her back giving his wife a sheepish smile as she looked at him. "I'm sorry that I laughed earlier by the way Twilight," Flash told her apologetically. "I know it wasn't funny considering what was going on. I just couldn't help it when I saw your face, it was priceless!" Flash grinned as Twilight kissed him on the cheek, giving him an understanding smile. "It's fine Flash, I know you didn't mean it," Twilight said, causing Flash to let out a sigh of relief. "But-" she continued, causing the smile on Flash's face to fall, "-next time Starry is sick, I'll let you be the bucket, then let me know how funny it is," Twilight said calmly with a look in Flash's direction. Flash's face instantly paled. Author's Note LOL poor Flash So what did you think of this chapter? I like feedback, so feel free to give it to me! (you don't have to though) Thank's for reading! Hearth's Warming EveIt was Twilight who awoke first on Hearth's Warming morning. Considering it had been snowing heavily for the past few days, the sunlight coming through the window next to the bed was a welcome sight, making the young mare smile. Looking around, Twilight noticed she was the first one awake; an uncommon occurrence in this household. This morning as the young mare looked around the room, she noticed Pepper curled up in her bed and beside her, Flash was also still sleeping peacefully. Sitting up, Twilight looked over towards the cradle at the end of the bed and was surprised to notice that Starry too was still deep in slumber. Laying back down, Twilight waited for the rest of her family to awaken. She knew it wouldn't be too long considering the day. Flash was like a kid himself when it came to presents, as was Pepper; even if all she got was extra hay bacon for the day. Twilight looked forward to the day Starry would be old enough to join in the frenzy as well, but at only three months old, that day was long off. Twilight continued to think when she snapped out of it because of the movement beside her. Flash was finally awake, and turning over, was surprised to see his wife already awake beside him. "How long have you been awake for?" Flash asked her with a chuckle, "You're usually the last one to get up, even on Hearth's Warming." Twilight smiled. "Yeah, I noticed that, but it hasn't been too long; only a few minutes. We still have a few sleepyheads though," Twilight said, nodding her head a still sleeping dog a baby filly in her cradle. Flash shrugged and smiled at his wife. "Doesn't matter, we'll start without them," Flash said eagerly and Twilight rolled her eyes with a laugh at the eagerness in Flash's voice. "You're as bad as a kid," Twilight told him with a shake of her head. "You and Starry will be as bad as each other when she gets older, Celestia help us. Then if Pepper joins in, I'll be the only adult in a house full of over excited kids," Twilight joked. "Well thank you, I try," Flash quipped, making Twilight roll her eyes again; but she had to smile. Flash never usually acted childish, in exception to Hearth's warming and it was fun to see. Twilight then looked at the still sleeping forms of Pepper and Starry and gave Flash a grin. "I guess we might as well start without them then. Do you want your present first?" asked Twilight grinning as she went to get up, but Flash shook his head. "Actually I want to give you your present first if that's ok?" Flash said enthusiastically as he got up and went over to his desk, rummaging around in one of the drawers before pulling a small object out and hiding it with his wing nervously, a little unsure o how to proceed. "Um, close your eyes...I don't want you to see the present just yet," Flash said nervously as he tried to keep the present hidden. Twilight rolled her eyes in amusement at Flash's nervousness. "Flash, you're going to give me the present anyway, why hide it?" she asked. Flash smiled at her. "I want it to be special when you see it," he said. "Can you just close your eyes? You'll see it in a moment I promise" Flash asked her pleadingly and with a sigh, Twilight did as she was asked. As she closed her eyes, she heard Flash approach her slowly and after that, she felt Flash's hooves brush against her neck as he clipped the object up. Twilight could tell it was a necklace, which was cold and metal as it came to rest on her chest, before Flash gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek, removing his hooves and backing up. "Alright, you can open your eyes," Flash said gently. Twilight slowly opened her eyes and looked down at the present around her neck, gasping as she saw a beautiful oval shaped golden locket, engraved in both pictures and writing. Engraved in the middle of the locket was two swords crossing over a book representing Flash and Twilight. Below this, a feather from Owlicious and a few tufts of fur from Pepper underneath the swords and book, representing the owl and the dog in their lives. The locket could obviously open up too, but it was the writing on the edge of the locket that had Twilight suddenly bring a hoof to her muzzle in shock, as she tried to hold back a sob and Flash smiled, expecting this reaction. The writing around the locket read 'My True Love' in a neat cursive. This expression was rarely ever used in Equestria, it held a great meaning for the couple saying it to each other. Telling someone that they were your 'True Love' was the most ultimate symbol of love and devotion and even Flash and Twilight had only used it twice in their lives. The first was when Flash proposed, and the other in the vows at their wedding. Hearing, or in this case, reading it in everyday life was special which is why it meant so much to Twilight. "Oh Flash," Twilight choked out tearfully, "It's beautiful, but when did you have the time to get this made?" Flash smiled lovingly at her and held her hooves in his gently. "Do you remember that time when I realized that Starry was a hassle to take care of and ran off to go and do something?" he asked gently. Twilight looked up at him in astonishment. "I thought you went out to get away from Starry because of what she did!" she exclaimed. "But instead you went and got this made. But, why?" Twilight asked quietly. Flash shrugged, giving her a small smile. "I wanted you to know how much you mean to both of us," he stated simply. "You carried Starry for 9 months, were in labour with her for 12 hours and then coped with her screaming when I left the house without help for almost a month." He smiled at Twilight warmly. "I made this because I love you and you deserved it," Flash said with a hint of emotion in his voice. Twilight looked at the locket before flicking her eyes into her husband's, unable to say anything. The locket was beautiful, and the most amazing present she had ever received from Flash, but she found herself utterly speechless to say this. The next instant she jumped into his hooves and wrapped her forelegs around his neck, knocking the air out of him as tears began to spill out of her eyes in happiness. "I love you too," Twilight mumbled into his shoulder and Flash chuckled as he wrapped his hooves around her tighter in response, before kissing the top of her head. "Well milady, I believe I have made you speechless," Flash said chuckling and Twilight laughed into his chest, before she looked up at Flash with a watery smile. "Whose fault is that?" she chuckled. "Flash, this locket is beautiful, thank you so much. I will never take this off," she said emotionally as she held the locket to her heart. Flash smiled back at her happily, before cupping her cheek and pulling her to his lips in a passionate, yet gentle kiss. Twilight's eyelids fluttered closed as she melted into Flash's embrace, kissing him back with every bit as much passion as he was. Flash's hoof went up to cup her other cheek as he deepened the kiss even further and Twilight just responded by covering the hoof on her face with hers. They didn't know how long they kept it up, but after a few minutes, both of them began to get breathless and they half heartedly broke away from the kiss smiling at each other contentedly. Flash wiped a story tear off Twilight's cheek that she didn't even realize she'd shed, causing her to blush but smile at her husband. Flash then took the locket in his hooves. "It opens as well," Flash said gently as he showed Twilight the latch on the locket, before he opened it to reveal a small strand of Starry's dark navy blue hair inside, making Twilight laugh quietly. "Trust you to think of a way to keep Starry with me at all times as well as you. This locket is amazing," Twilight said in awe of the little trinket. Flash wrapped his foreleg around her shoulders and kissed her mane again. "I was going to give it to you the night Starry was sick last month, but I decided to wait until Hearth's Warming. I hope I was right?" Flash asked her, uncertain. Twilight smiled, leaning her head against his neck. "It was perfect timing Flash," she assured him. "I don't think I would have appreciated it as much after I'd been thrown up on that night," Twilight giggled, which made Flash laugh as well. A small gurgle from Starry's crib made them turn. Their baby girl was finally awake. "Looks like somebody's finally awake. Want me to get her?" Twilight asked Flash eagerly, as she moved to get up, just as they heard a low coo in the corner of the room. It looked like Pepper was also awake. "Well that was convenient," Flash said dryly, making Twilight laugh as she stood up to go over to the cradle, while Flash got up and went over to Pepper. "Morning girl, happy Hearth's Warming. I'll get you your extra Hay Bacon when we go down to the kitchen alright?" Flash told her with a grin as he scratched her behind the ears. Pepper gave her owner a low coo in understanding, nuzzling up to him, before coming over to the bed to watch the two parents give their baby girl her first Hearth's Warming gift. Twilight looked into the cradle with a smile, where Starry was fully awake and gurgling happily away. "Well, good morning sweetie, you look very happy this morning. Are we ready for our Hearth's Warming present?" Twilight asked her daughter with a smile, before she picked up the gurgling filly and brought her over to the bed where Flash beamed at his daughter as she was placed on the bed. "Well someone looks very giggly this morning. Happy Hearth's Warming, my little warrior," said Flash with an excited tone in his voice, missing his daughter's forehead resulting in a warm smile form Twilight as she sat on the bed. "Ever since she learned how to giggle, she hasn't stopped," Twilight said proudly as she tickled her daughter's belly, making her giggle a little more. "Do you think we should give her her present now?" asked Flash eagerly as he tickled his giggling daughter. With a smile, Twilight reached over to the desk beside the bed and pick up their little girls gift, resulting in a smile from Flash as he saw it. It was Flash's old royal guard 'plushie' that his mother had made for him. Flash had been completely stuck as to what to give his little girl for her first Hearth's Warming, and finally decided to pass the toy down to his daughter, with his mother Honey Suckle agreeing it was a beautiful idea considering it never got played with anymore. The toy was special to him and he hoped that one day it would be to her too. "I just hope she doesn't react the same way I did with it," Flash said worriedly, and Twilight snorted, giving her husband a cheeky grin. "I doubt it; she's been around royal guards since she was born. If she is, she takes after you," Twilight giggled, as Flash chuckled in agreement. He then took his royal guard plushie from Twilight's magic with his hooves and lowered it into Starry's vision. "Who's afraid of the big bad guard?" Flash said jokingly; which Twilight rolled her eyes at. "Obviously not her," she giggled as she watched Starry over her husband's shoulder as Starry started to gurgle and reached out excitedly with all four hooves towards the stuffed guard, taking it in her hooves happily. "Do you like your present, my little guard? Daddy picks good ones doesn't he?" Twilight said warmly as she looked at Flash with a loving smile on her face, and Flash smiled back, before giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead. As he did so, Twilight's eyes suddenly widened. "Speaking of presents, I better give you yours!" exclaimed Twilight quickly, as she got up and went over to the desk, taking out a present and handing it to Flash. "I can't beat yours, but I hope you like it. I gave Sharp Shot the design and he made it," Twilight said nervously as Flash looked at the object in his hooves. It was a beautiful ornate dagger; the hilt was of dark oak, carved in the likeness of a wolf with dark grayish leather wrappings mimicking the fur of a wolf. The blade was pristine, pale steel with a sharp edge on the outside and a darker flat on the inner which bore Flash's name in the script. "Twilight this is amazing! The detail on this is incredible. You did a great job on the design, don't sell yourself short!" Flash exclaimed in amazement as he looked the dagger over, before leaning over to give Twilight a kiss on the cheek. "I thought since you lost your other one a while back that you needed a new one," Twilight explained. "I wanted it to be special, so I spent ages on the design, and then Sharp Shot took even longer to make it!" "That's Sharp Shot for you, but he does a good job when he puts his mind to it," said Flash with a grateful smile. "Speaking of Sharp Shot, he and your mother will be waiting for us at his place for lunch, we better get a move on. Remember we're have lunch there and then dinner at my parent's house," Twilight said as she looked at the clock hanging on the wall. Flash groaned in irritation, but got off the bed, being careful not to bump Starry who was still gurgling happily away with the royal guard doll, while Twilight got ready. (This hurts) "We'll give Pepper her extra Hay bacon before we leave too," said Twilight as she grinned at the germane shepherd, who perked up excitedly at those words, making the duo laugh. "We didn't forget you girl, don't worry," Flash said with a grin as he patted her on the head, before he felt a small kiss on his cheek. "That's for giving me the best Hearth's Warming gift I could have ever asked for. Thank you," Twilight said happily. As the couple walked through Ponyville that day ponies stopped them and looked at Twilight's new locket. This present surprised many of the townsfolk. Ponies rarely ever used the expression 'My True Love' like this, and Twilight felt the luckiest mare alive. Many said that it was the best gift that Flash could have ever given the lovely princess that was his wife. Twilight just thought that it was the best Hearth's Warming gift she could ever receive and it was that reason, that from day on, she never took it off. Author's Note Haha took me 32 hours to type this chappie up. Lol I'm sorry I had to say that. Hope you enjoyed it! Be sure to leave a like, comment and fav! Peace! New LivesSoarin had never been as petrified in his entire life as he was at this moment. Standing outside the door to the delivery room, he cringed as he heard his wife screaming inside. She had been in labour for over 12 hours, with no end in sight, and never in his life had Soarin felt so useless. As the young stallion stood there, he wondered how his life had changed so quickly in space of the past year. Oh yeah; he'd been forced into an arranged marriage. Just over a year before, Flash and Twilight were the only ones married happily, in both friend groups; Fluttershy and Big Mac had been going out for two years, while Soarin, Spike, and Sharp Shot had been left in the dust. As were Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash. That was until Soarin's parents and Rainbow's parents decided to step in. At the beginning of the previous year, Soarin had turned 22 and Rainbow had turned 21; and with Twilight happily married to Flash, and Fluttershy dating Big Mac, Soarin's mom and dad had realized that he had to get married at some point, and he was never going to do it himself. It was in this realization that they had decided to find out who Soarin's crush was, mistakingly reading his personal journal. His crush was a mare named Rainbow Dash, 1 year younger than him, had a rainbow colored mane and a cyan colored coat. In Soarin's journal it had mentioned that she went to the Wonderbolts academy, and part of the reserves. His parents tracked Rainbow's down and talked over the arrangement, in which they both agreed on. Both parties seemed extremely happy, and gave it a shot. Their first meeting hadn't been smooth sailing though. The day that Soarin and Rainbow first meet; actually talked to each other in private, he made a crucial mistake; he upset his wife-to-be. The day was going smoothly until a drunk Spitfire came upon them and started to flirt with Soarin. That of course, upset Rainbow. Soarin realized this marriage was only going to work out if his friends and fellow wonderbolts wouldn't drop in on them all the time, much less be drunk. Yeah that was defiantly not going to happen. After this meeting, Soarin made an attempt to apologize, and, given the circumstances of Spit Fire being drunk, Rainbow accepted his apology. With both sides happy once more, Soarin and Rainbow's relationship grew. The pair were married 3 months after their first meeting, and had quickly settled into married life. Both Tank, and Soarin's falcon, Torpedo, got along quite well with each other and their owners other half. Living in the same house brought the pair closer, way closer than before, making their love for one another stronger. Just when their relationship couldn't get any better, Rainbow discovered she was pregnant. The couple had only been married 3 months by this time, and were quite surprised. They hadn't planned on having a child so early, and were quite anxious on the new development. Lucky for Rainbow, though, Twilight was still pregnant with Starry at this time, and her and Flash were always on hand to quell the couples fears, even after Starry was born five months before. Now, only eleven months into their nuptials, Rainbow had gone into labour around 8pm the previous night. 12 hours later, the young mare was still in labour, with no end in sight, making Soarin more anxious than he'd ever been in his life. Soarin was snapped out of his thoughts when Big Macs' voice came to his attention. "Hey Soarin, why aren't you inside?" Big Mac asked anxiously as he and Fluttershy came over to the father-to-be. "Isn't Rainbow still in labour?" Soarin sighed and leant back onto the wall of the delivery room. "It's been twelve hours and counting," Soarin confirmed nervously as he looked up towards the ceiling of the hall way with a sigh. "She kept screaming at me, so I thought it was best to leave." "She's having a baby, of course she'd be screaming," Fluttershy said calmly, before the three of them winced as they heard Rainbow give out the worst scream yet, making Soarin moan anxiously and Fluttershy shudder. "How long is this going to go on for?!" he moaned restlessly. I can't stand hearing her scream much longer." "What's going on? And what are you complaining about Soarin?" asked Flash in confusion, as he and Twilight joined them with five month old Starry sitting on Flash's back, his wings keeping her in place. Soarin frowned, he thought he had sent a letter or pony to get them, oh well. They didn't know that Rainbow had gone into the night before. "Rainbow went into labour last night, and she's still going," Soarin explained to them, just as Rainbow's sudden scream confirmed this, making Soarin cringe once again. Flash looked at him in amazement. "If Rainbow's in labour, why in the name of Celestia aren't you inside with her?!" Flash exclaimed angrily, while Twilight gave Soarin an irate look. "Yeah Soarin, why aren't you?" Twilight asked calmly. "She doesn't want me in there!" Soarin exclaimed angrily with a heated look towards the prince. "Every time I go back in there, she just screams at me to go away! What am I supposed to do?" Everyone looked at Soarin in disbelief, including Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack whom had just joined them, all knowing that this was the wrong way to approach this situation. "Soarin, Rainbow is in the worst pain she'll ever be in her whole life! Of course she would scream at you!" Twilight said angrily, yet gently at the same time. "Do you think Flash got away with not being yelled at when I had Starry?" "I got yelled, sworn, and glared at for hours. Not to mention the death threats she threw at me and being screamed at to leave her alone, yet I still stayed. How could I not when Twilight was in that much pain?" Flash said in exasperation. "Rainbow would actually try to kill me, never mind threaten!" Soarin countered. "I mean, you have seen her angry haven't you?" Soarin asked Flash and Twilight as he turned towards them. "She might if ya don't get back in there! Your supposed to be er husband, now act like it!" exclaimed Applejack angrily, Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie, and Fluttershy nodding in agreement. "She won't do anythin' of tha sort, now get your flank movin an into that there room," Big Mac said calmly. "No matter what she says, she'll want you to be there. Heck," he looked over at Fluttershy with a smile, "I'd stay with Flutters, no matter what she said," making Fluttershy blush. "Um, please keep me out of this; and you know that we won't be having foals anytime soon," said Fluttershy calmly, backing away from the group. "Ah know Fluttershy, I know, I was jus' sayin," Big Mac said with a chuckle before he gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, making her blush, just as everyone wince once more as another scream came from the room. "For Celestia's sake, Soarin, just go in there already!" Flash yelled in desperation, as he pleaded with his friend to finally join his wife. Soarin opened his mouth to respond, but not before the angry voice of his exhausted wife was suddenly heard from the room behind them. "SOARIN, BY THE LOVE OF CELESTIA, GET YOUR ARSE UP HERE ALREADY! I AM NOT DOING THIS WITHOUT YOU!" Rainbow screamed from the room behind them, and Soarin blanched and raced back inside to join his wife at last, not able to stay away from her any longer, despite her earlier screams at him; causing the rest of the group to burst into fits of laughter as Soarin ran inside the room. "Well finally, it's about time he went in. I just hope Rainbow is doing ok," said Rarity, finally joining the conversation. "You said it Rarity!" Pinkie agreed, nodding her head up and down. "Oh I really hope the baby gets here soon, for Rainbow's sake. I don't think she or Soarin will be able to handle this much longer," said Twilight worriedly as she and the others decided to sit down to wait for news. Flash and the others weren't the only ones hoping this. Inside the room, Soarin came rushing over to his wife, who was fairly flushed in the face and looked completely weary, yet determined. When she saw Soarin rush in, she gave him a wide smile, looking totally relieved to have her husband back beside her; and Soarin in relief that she wasn't yelling at him. "How's it going? Are we any closer?" Soarin asked the nurse, Redheart was her name, anxiously, as well as Rainbow's mother, Blue blitz. Seeing the anxious look on the young stallions face, Redheart smiled and nodded. "Almost there dearie, I promise. It's about to get a whole lot worse though," Redheart said calmly, making Soarin groan. Hearing this, Rainbow looked over at him with a desperate look as she grabbed hold of his hoof. "Your not leaving again," she told him. "I refuse to do this without you!" With a reassured smile, Soarin gripped his wife's hoof. "I'm not going anywhere I promise," he assured her kindly. "Besides, even if I did, I think either you or Flash would kill me. You should have seen him just then," said Soarin with a shudder, making Rainbow laugh just as another pain shot through her abdomen. Grimacing in pain, she squeezed Soarin's hoof so tight it went purple, making him wince in turn. "Oh, something tells me it's almost time," Redheart said quickly and started to prepare herself. "Get ready dearie." Looking at Soarin with wide eyes, he smiled at her. "You've done it this long, Rainbow," Soarin reminded her. "You can handle it. All while screaming at me," he added with a grin towards her which she returned, before her face turned serious. All of a sudden calm, Rainbow took a deep breath and nodded as she began the final stages. It wasn't until an hour after Soarin had raced back inside the delivery room to be with his wife that Flash and the others heard the cries of a baby, making them all look at each other excitedly. "Soarin and Rainbow are finally parents," Flash grinned, making them all sigh in relief. It had been a long wait, for all of them, as well as Soarin and Rainbow. Fifteen hours all up. "Hmm, I wonder, is it a colt or a filly?" Rarity asked in excitement. "OOH OOH A GUESSING GAME! I think it's a FILLY!" Pinkie pie exclaimed, hopping up and down. "It might be sugarcube, but knowing Soarin, he probably wants a colt. I dunno how he would take it if he gets a filly," Applejack interjected. "There's nothing wrong with havin' a lil filly," Big Mac said with a frown. "Mares can do everythin' a stallion could do." "It really doesn't matter, does it? They'll be happy either way right?" Fluttershy said calmly. Before anyone could respond to that, they heard the door open with a bang, and they saw an elated looking Soarin racing out the door; a wide grin on his muzzle. "IT'S A COLT! RAINBOW AND I HAVE A COLT!" he yelled in excitement. "That ought to make him happy," Applejack muttered to Pinkie, who grinned at her in turn as they turned to Soarin, beaming joyfully at him. "Congrats Soarin. To both of you," Flash smiled. "How's Rainbow?" "She's fine, thank Celestia," Soarin replied with a goofy grin. "Exhausted, but she and the baby are fine. Rainbow wants you all to come at say hi to him," Soarin said proudly. "Is she sure?" Twilight asked him, surprised as everyone began to chatter excitedly. "She just had a baby, does she really want us in there?" "I asked, she insisted on you coming in," Soarin shrugged. "And I am in no mood to argue with her after all of that, that's for sure," he added with a contentedly chuckle. Twilight shrugged and followed Soarin into the delivery room along with everyone else. "Hey guys," Rainbow said, looking up from the small bundle she held in her hooves towards the small crowd of ponies. "Hi Rainbow, how ya feelin?" Pinkie asked in response. "Exhausted, but I'm ok," she said. "It was totally worth!" "Congrats Rainbow," Rarity, Applejack, Twilight, and Fluttershy said in unison, as if they planned it all. The others nodded in agreement. "Heh, thanks guys," "What's his name?" Flash asked eagerly. Soarin laughed. "I wanted to name him, but Rainbow wouldn't let me," he said, as Rainbow gave him an increduluos look. "You wanted to name him Soarin Junior, of course I said no!" Rainbow exclaimed with a giggle. "I love you, but that's not happening!" she added with a glance to him, which made everyone laugh. "Thanks Dashie, I feel the love," said Soarin dryly. "So, what did ya name the lil fella?" asked Big mac curiously and Rainbow and Soarin looked at everyone with proud smiles. "Gusty. Our son's name is Gusty Soarin Dash," Rainbow announced proudly. Author's Note Hehehe there you go my lovely viewers, some SoarinDash. Oh and some Fluttermac. I hoped you like it, and yeah, I'm pretty sure Rainbow would have killed Soarin if he never went back in there, and I think we can all agree that it is better to have Soarin alive then dead right? All in all I hope you enjoyed this lovely new one-shot and I hope to see you with the next one that should come next week, or earlier, I'm not sure. Thanks for reading and be sure to leave an up-vote, I love em' and a comment! I love feedback, so don't be afraid to give me it! Until next time! First BirthdayThe morning of Starry's first birthday was a slow start. The weather was miserable with pouring rain and winds so cold you felt as if your face would instantly freeze. When morning broke, it was as dark as night and impossible to tell the time of day; so you could forgive the family for being late in getting up. Twilight awoke first, and upon realizing it was morning, she scrambled to get out of bed while beside her, Flash wasn't budging at all, even at her sudden movement. "Flash, get up!" Twilight exclaimed in a panic, as she hastily changed into her outfit. "It's late!" Flash mumbled, but didn't make a move to get out of bed. Twilight wondered if he had even heard what she had said and with a sigh, picked up her pillow next to him, before hitting him hard in the face with it. Startled, Flash's eyes quickly shot open. "Wh... what? What did you do that for Twi!?" he exclaimed, with a glance towards his wife. "You have to get up. Everyone is going to be here for Starry's birthday soon," said Twilight quickly as she put the pillow back down, satisfied Flash was finally listening. Flash groaned and buried his head in the pillows. "Why is everyone coming so early?" Flash whined wearily, make Twilight shake her head and laugh. "Well, if somebody wasn't out past midnight playing with their dog, you wouldn't feel so tired now would you?" Twilight asked him with a grin. "Don't rub it in Twilight," Flash mumbled as he began to drift off to sleep again, and Twilight sighed. This was going nowhere; she had to think of some other way to get him up. Flash heard Twilight's footsteps leave the room, and thinking she had given up on trying to wake him up, began to drift back off again. Just as he was, though, he suddenly felt something placed on his stomach, and upon opening his eyes was met with the sight of his baby filly giving him a little grin upon his stomach. Beside him, Twilight wore an identical grin to their daughter's as she glanced down at him. "Going to get up now?" she asked him mischievously. "Surely, you wouldn't say no to that face, would you?" She nodded at the little filly on his stomach, who was looking at her daddy with innocent eyes and a wide smile. Chuckling at the sight of his daughters smiling face, Flash sighed, before sitting up and taking Starry in his hooves. "Alright sweetie, you win. I'm up. The weather might be out to ruin the day," Flash said, glancing at the window, "but I'm not going to. No matter how tired I am." A large yawn escaped him, as if on cue at these words. He groaned. "Twilight, remind to never let Pepper persuade me to go flying that late again. Especially," he added with another yawn, "the day before someone's birthday." Twilight snorted. "You should have known that in the first place," she said. "Now, hurry up and get ready before everyone gets here," she added as she threw Flash's comb at his head. "I'm up, I'm up," he groaned. "And while you're at it though," he added with a glance in Pepper's direction, "why don't you wake Pepper up? She's not budging," he chuckled as he passed Starry to Twilight so he could fix his mane. "Leave that to me," Twilight said with a wolfish grin on her face as she took Starry over to the dozing dog and placed her next to her. Starry wobbled a little as she used Pepper to stand up, before pulling on her ears. "Peppy, up, up," the little filly said with a giggle, pulling on Pepper's ears more, startling her awake. Noticing the toddler, she gave Flash and Twilight an annoyed look, making them burst into fits of laughter. "Nothing like a wakeup call from a one year old to start the day," Flash quipped as Pepper yawned and begrudgingly stood up from his wooly bed, all the while Starry remained clinging onto her leg, still standing wobbly on her hooves. "Flash look," Twilight said suddenly, looking in Starry's direction, "she's trying again!" Bending down in front of the little filly, she and Flash held out their hooves as Starry gave a mighty flap of her little wings to get her in the air for a second, before falling on her bottom just as quickly. Flash beamed at his little filly. "Well, she's determined; I'll give her that. Good job sweetie," Flash said proudly as he picked up his daughter and kissed her cheek. "She's hovering better every day. I think she'll be able to move forward more than one flap before long," said Twilight excitedly, just as they heard an urgent knock at the door downstairs. "Think we should let them in before they drown?" Twilight asked with a grin, as Flash rushed down the stairs to open the door with a laugh. Whispering wind (Flash's mom), Sharp Shot, and Twilight's parents, Night light and Twilight Velvet, quickly rushed inside as soon as the door was opened, soaked to the bone, shivering and windblown. The weather outside the door was as bad as they thought. It was dark, pouring with rain and the wind was so strong, that Flash had trouble closing the door again for a moment. It wasn't a very good day for a birthday party. "Trust the weather to ruin the day," Flash said dryly, as he managed to close the door again. "We'll manage dear, Starry won't remember it anyway. The weather won't ruin her birthday," Whispering Wind said reassuringly as she placed a hoof on Flash's shoulder. "No, but it almost made us late for it," Twilight said as she came down the stairs with Starry in her arms; Pepper following close behind her, still looking half asleep. "Late start dear?" Twilight Velvet asked her daughter with a chuckle, noting both the Germane Shepherd's sleepy look, as well as her son-in-law's. "No thanks to the weather." She shot her husband an accusatory look. "At least I got up when I realised how late it was," she added with raised eyebrows towards him, making him grin sheepishly. Seeing this exchange, Sharp Shot laughed. "So, it was Flash that I saw messing around last night?" he asked with a grin towards the young stallion. "Don't you think that was a bad idea the night before your daughter's birthday, lad?" "Don't rub it in Sharp," Flash said with a groan, making everyone shake their heads, trying not to laugh. Flash would never learn. "Flash," Twilight asked suddenly, "do you want to give Starry her present now, or have everyone else go first?" Before Flash could answer, though, Night Light answered the question for him. "You two go right ahead," he said. "I think your mother wants to give hers last, anyway," he chuckled. Twilight nodded to her father. "Alright then," she agreed. "Flash, do you have her present?" she asked him, as she turned towards Flash where he nodded, pulling something out of his pocket. "Happy Birthday sweetie," Flash said proudly as he presented Starry with his and Twilight's gift: a small shining silver bracelet. Engraved on it in fine work, were Starry's name and date of birth, as well as an intricately designed image of Pepper, darkened by ash to more match the dog's fur color. Flash had spent many days on it, wanting it to be perfect for his little filly. "Flash, that;s beautiful. How long did it take you to make that?" Velvet asked her son-in-law in awe, as she watched Flash place the bracelet onto Starry's foreleg, where Starry gave a joyful grin to her father. "He spent many days on it, mum. Everything had to be perfect, so every time something was wrong he'd spend hours fixing it back up," Twilight told her mother as her face glowed with pride for her husband. Flash smiled at her affectionately as he adjusted the bracelet on Starry's wrist. "Well Flash, you certainly outdid yourself on this one," Whispering said with a smile. Flash's face glowed with pride as he went up to hug his other. The others pulled out what they had gotten Starry and Twilight set Starry on the floor. She crawled over to her father who was kneeling down. She cooed, booping his nose. Flash chuckled before lightly booping his daughter's nose back. Starry laughed. Whispering Wind walked over and set a small quilt on the floor. It was a light sky blue with Pepper and Starry playing with each other. "It's amazing mum," Flash said. "How long were you working on this?" "PEPPY!" A small voice interrupted Whispering as she was about to speak. "Funny as the first thing she notices is Pepper," Twilight chuckled. "It took me a few weeks, I was justing hoping she would like it," Whispering replied. Flash picked up his daughter and set her on the quilt. Starry giggled some more and stood up, opening her wings and giving a small flap. "Guys, look," Flash said as Starry put her hooves on the tip of his muzzle as she flapped her wings harder and more consistently. Everyone turned and watched as Flash gradually lifted his nose and Starry rose with it. She took her hooves off and hovered in the air for a minute, flapping around and flying in a circle before crashing into her father's chest. Everyone made an 'aww' sound as Flash stroked her mane. "You did it sweetie, you flew!" He whispered to her excitedly. She booped his nose and giggled. He laughed to. "Best birthday ever," Twilight said, moving to sit by Flash, cooing at her daughter. Author's Note YAY I'm back! (Finally...) Ahh, it feels good to be back. My novel's almost finished, but since it's the end of November (And it's Thanksgiving), I decided to leave a little surprise. So I hope you enjoyed Starry's first B-day, and I will see you next week with another cute little one shot! The Terrible Twos"Doggy, wanna doggy!" Twilight sighed in frustration. She thought when her daughter began to talk that things would be so much easier; but combine talking with the terrible twos, and you get this perfect storm of annoyance. Most of the time, Starry being able to communicate with her parents was 'easy', as well as cute; unless the conversation involved dogs that is. Ever since Starry had learnt to say 'dog', she had begun to pester her parents for one of her own. She had been around dogs since the day she was born, and because of this, the little filly believed she ought to be allowed one of her own. Even if she was only 2 years old, and had never even played with a dog, since Twilight didn't want her to get hurt, let alone own one. Today was one such day. Flash had gone out early that morning for a military meeting, and had left Twilight alone with the toddler. The day had started well enough with Starry helping her mummy and Owlicious clean up the throne room, playing with her favourite doggy doll. After a while, though, Starry had spotted another filly playing with a small dog outside through the window, and the storm began to brew. At first it started with Twilight hearing Starry mumbling about dogs but it quickly progressed all the way to Starry's yelling, even making Owlicious wince. Nothing she did made Starry stop screaming, and a dog of her own was out of the question; she was only 2, after all. "Doggy, wanna doggy. WANNA DOGGY!" Starry screamed repeatedly and Twilight sighed again. This was getting out of hand, and her tantrum was growing; she had to put a stop to it. "Starry, you can scream all you want, but you are NOT getting a dog. I mean it young lady," Twilight said firmly, making Starry pout angrily. "Wanna a doggy!" the toddler yelled. Twilight frowned. "Starry, stop it," she told the two year old sternly, standing firmly in front of her, "this isn't going to get you a dog. Do you want me to get daddy?" Twilight asked the little filly as her face began to turn red with anger. "What are you getting me for?" Flash's voice came from behind, causing Twilight to start and wheel around to see Flash and Pepper walking through the doorway, making her sigh in relief. Looking from his now-relieved wife, to his pouting daughter, Flash groaned. "Not again," he said with a sigh. "How long has it gone on for this time?" Flash asked knowingly. Starry had these temper tantrums often enough to know one in progress. "Longer than usual that's for sure," Twilight told him tiredly. "I swear, if I hear the word dog one more time, I'm going to lose it!" Closing her eyes in frustration, Twilight took a deep breath, before re-opening her eyes. "Look," she continued, with a pleading expression towards her husband, "I don't know what's gotten into her today, but I really need a break, so do you think you could take her outside for a while? Maybe..." she added as the toddler began to repeat the word dog once again. "I'll take her for a walk around the town for awhile." Giving his wife a sympathetic smile, Flash kissed her forehead gently. "Give you a break," Flash said gently, allowing Twilight to smile gratefully at him. "Thank you!" Twilight exclaimed gratefully as she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, before giving him a pleading look. "Just do me a favor though," she told him, a look of desperation on her face, "just...try to stop her tantrum. Please. I mean, I usually can...but-" Flash snorted. "I make no promises there," he said, "but," he added quickly seeing the desperate look of his wife's face, "I'll do my best," he promised her softly as he kissed her lightly on the lips, before turning his attention to his still pouting little filly. "Starry, do you want to come with me for a little while?" Flash asked her kindly. Starry looked at her daddy with an uncertain look on her face. "Peppy come?" she asked slowly, turning her attention over to the Germane Shepherd (I KNOW IT HURTS!!) in the corner, who gave her a gummy grin. Flash chuckled. "Yes, Pepper can come," he assured her with a smile. "Now, come one then, let's go for a walk." Holding out his hoof for the toddler, Starry quickly took hold of it, before walking out the main door of the castle. Leading his daughter outside, Flash tried to keep hold of her hoof as best he could, which was a difficult thing to do because you kinda needed all of your hooves to walk. She lead the way, kicking at any sticks and twigs in the road. "Well bud, it looks like I've got her back to herself," Flash told the dog hopefully, leading Pepper to coo cautiously. She'd seen the little filly get mad at the drop of a hat, and wasn't going to accept victory just yet. For good reason too; because at that moment, Starry looked up from the sticks on the ground and noticed the same little filly with her dog. Noticing this at the same time as his daughter, Flash tensed, justing waiting for her temper to flare up again. "Come on, Starry, let's go to the forge," Flash suggested hopefully, wrapping his wing around his daughter and leading her away. "I think Sharp Shot want to show you something." Ordinarily this diversion would have worked; but not this time. Turning to her father with a pout, Starry soon pointed at the filly. "Daddy, wanna doggy!" Starry exclaimed, crossing her arms in a huff. Now, in any other situation, Flash would have laughed at this point given the look on his daughter's face. Unfortunately though, Flash had to stop his daughter's tirade before it got any worse. "Starry, no," Flash told her firmly, as he led the toddler away from the scene to a patch of grass near Sugar Cube Corner. "You're only 2 years old. You're not getting a dog." Sitting her down on a patch of grass, though, Starry just continued to pout. "She gets wan," Starry whined, pointing at the same filly. Flash sighed. "Yes," Flash tried to explain patiently, "and she's five," he continued gently, "Not two, Star." He looked over at her with the same stern face. "It's still no Starry," Flash told her, seeing her pouting look staring back at him. Starry pouted again, her face getting redder in the process. "I. WANNA. DOGGY!" Starry screaming, getting up and stomping her hoof. This was going to far. It was time to end this tantrum, once and for all. "Starry, stop it!" Flash exclaimed sternly, with a firm look towards his bad tempered little filly. "If you keep going like this, you will never get one. Do you understand me?: Flash asked determinedly, leading Starry to suddenly stop screaming and look at her daddy with a pout. She knew from her daddy's tone of voice that he meant it, so staying quiet, she gave a nod. "Good," Flash said. "Now Starry, you're too young for a dog, and you won't get one until you're older. If you keep this up, though, mummy and I may never let you get one." "I dun wan that," Starry pouted, tears filling her little eyes. "I know you don't sweetheart. So be a good little filly and you will alright?" Flash asked gently. Starry nodded, tears streaming out of her eyes. "Oh sweetie, don't cry," Flash said, pulling his daughter into a hug. Starry sniffled. "You wanna play with Pepper?" Flash asked her. Starry nodded. "But, mummy say no play with Peppy," she said. "I think she'll make an exception," Flash replied, putting Starry on the ground for her to go and play with Pepper. Flash sat on the grass as he watch Pepper playfully nudge Starry's side. Starry was half asleep by the time Flash opened the doors to the castle, and as he walked up to the private chambers. Twilight looked up from the book she was reading on the couch. One glance at the half asleep Starry on Flash's back made Twilight awestruck. "How did you manage to do that?" Twilight asked him. "I'll explain later," he told her with a smile. "But I think someone would like to tell you something." Starry looked up from her father's back and looked at her mother with an apologetic look. "I sorry," Starry said sincerely, making Twilight's heart melt at the look on her daughter's face, before she smiled tenderly. "It's alright sweetie, I forgive you," Twilight said as she walked up and nuzzled her daughter. Starry yawned sleepily, before quickly falling asleep on top of her father's furry back. "Guess I should get her to bed," Flash said, kissing Twilight. "You go do that," Twilight replied. Flash smiled. He walked down the hallway to Starry's room and set her on her bed. "Night Star," Flash said, giving her a light kiss on her forehead. Author's Note Ouch, my brain. I wrote this while playing Animal Jam, video chatting with friends, TEXTING friends, watching youtube, and so so so many other things. Sorry if this is late, I was rather busy because my birthday's on thursday, and I'm having a party so yeah...really busy and super sorry! Hope you enjoyed this little one-shot and I PROMISE the next one will be up sometime next week AccidentA year ago, Flash and Twilight didn't think there could be anything worse than the terrible twos. That is until Starry reached a stage that Flash so correctly dubbed, the 'curious threes', called specifically because at three and a half years of age, Starry was know curious about everything in her life. Spanning from weaponry, to the outskirts of Ponyville. Normally this wasn't a problem because Flash and Twilight were always there with her when she got too curious to keep her out of trouble. Until today that was. Having gone out early this morning with Pepper for a military meeting, Flash was to be out most of the day. Because of this, for a majority of the day, it was just Twilight and Starry in the castle, making it difficult for Twilight to be able to watch over the curious toddler at all hours of the day. That is where the trouble started. Not long after Flash had left for the day, Twilight had gone upstairs to do some much needed housework, leaving Starry to play downstairs. The three year old hadn't seemed to be in a curious mood when Twilight left her to it, so what happened next was beyond anything Twilight could've predicted. Starry got her hooves on Flash's sword. Having gotten her first toy sword for her previous birthday, Starry had become curious as to how to use a real one. The three year old had always watched in awe as Flash practiced with his from time to time and because of that the little filly had decided SHE wanted to learn how to use one too. It didn't look to hard and all the young filly water was to show her daddy that she could be just like him! Looking up at the top level of the private chambers (it's basically got two floors, ok?), Starry searched for any signs of her mother. Now, what was interesting about the private chambers was that the top story had a balcony that stretched all around the diameter of the chamber, making it easier to walk around the whole top level and easily enter the four rooms on the top. One room was Flash and Twilight's bedroom, one was her bedroom and the other two was a spare bedroom and a wash room. Near her parent's room and the washroom were stairs that lead down to the bottom level of the chamber. Unfortunately this design also made it easy to check if you were going to get caught doing something you shouldn't be, which was exactly what the inquisitive three year old was doing. Seeing Twilight was in her room, with the door only just ajar, Starry quietly went over to the table where Flash's sword was laying. Rearing up, the little filly could only just reach it, but after a few moments she managed to get it down without any problems. The sword was about six inches longer than the three year old and Starry could barely lift it. She tried to hold it like her father did, with his teeth, but it weighed her down. The same thing happened when she tried to hold it with her wing like she sometimes saw Flash do. Holding it awkwardly with her hooves, the weight of it was less pronounced, so with the sword firmly in her hooves, she swung it. As she swung, the sword flew out of her hooves and landed with a loud clatter. The little filly winced when it clattered to the wooden floor. Nervously looking up at the top level, Starry was surprised that the noise hadn't alerted her mother to her actions. Double checking her mother's whereabouts, she went over to retrieve the sword. It had landed with the tip stuck firmly in the wood. Starry tried to pull it out as hard as she could, but it was stuck tight. Sticking her tongue out in concentration, she tried again, but before the young filly could even react, the sword suddenly came loose and wheeled back towards her, with one of it's sharp corners making contact with the top of her hoof. Blood came gushing out in a rush of scarlet and the pain was like a thousand bee stings all at once. In shock, Starry just stared at it for a moment, before tears began to well up at the corner of her eyes, and bursting into tears, she began to scream. "MUMMMMMMMMMY!" "Starry, what is it?!" Rushing out onto the upstairs balcony, Twilight looked down at the filly, only to freeze in horror at the sight in front of her for a moment, before panic overtook her mind as she raced down the stairs towards her panic stricken daughter. "Starry! What in Celestia's name have you done?" Twilight screamed hysterically as she grabbed a cloth, before she fell to her knees beside her weeping daughter. "I use daddy's sword, mummy. I sorry," Starry sobbed, as Twilight quickly applied the cloth around her daughter's bloody hand in an effort to stop the flow of blood. The pressure of the cloth on her stinging hoof, though, just made Starry recoil and sob harder as she buried her head into Twilight's chest in pain. Twilight's heart broke at seeing her little filly in so much pain, as mush as the young mother wanted answers for why her daughter would do this, now was not the time to reprimand her. It would have to wait. Starry let out another whimper. "Oh, I know sweetie, I know," Twilight whispered softly to her as she got up to collect another bandage. "It's alright, I'm right here," Twilight reassured the toddler as she let out another sob. "Alright sweetie," Twilight said soothingly, "let's see what this looks like, ok?" Taking Starry's hoof in her own, Twilight gently unwrapped the piece of cloth around the little filly's hand with her magic, making Starry suddenly hiss in pain and sob harder. "Oh baby I'm sorry, but I have to look at it," Twilight told her softly. "It's alright, I promise." (because I can't be bothered...) Starry had apologized for attempting use Flash's sword and scaring the living daylights out of Twilight. Flash had come home later that afternoon, and couldn't be bothered about Starry using his sword, only that she was okay. Flash knew that Twilight was more worried than she was letting on too, and decided to ask about it later that night. And he was right. He had asked her why she was so worried while they were getting ready for bed. She had felt overprotective over Starry for the rest of the night, and that was because she had blamed herself. "As I just told you Flash, I thought our daughter had lost her hoof!" Twilight said through gritted teeth. "My daughter could have lost her hoof at three years old, Flash, all because I'm an idiot!" "Twilight, it wasn't your fault. You thought the sword was out of her reach. You couldn't have known that this was going to happen," Flash replied. "It is my fault Flash. I should have kept it wa-" Flash embraced Twilight in a hug. She squirmed a bit, trying to escape, but he didn't let her. "It wasn't your fault Twi," He whispered into her ear, brushing her mane away from her eyes and placing a kiss on her forehead, "Stop blaming yourself." Twilight's lower lip quivered before she burst into tears, flinging her arms around Flash's neck as she buried her head into his chest. Wrapping his hooves around his distressed wife, Flash pulled her into a tight embrace, stroking her mane as she cried. "Shh, I'm right here. Just let it out," Flash whispered softly. It took several minutes before Twilight finally began to calm down. Sniffling, she looked up at Flash and gave him a small grateful smile, which Flash returned as he kissed her forehead lovingly. "You alright?" he asked softly. Twilight nodded, keeping her hooves around his neck. "Let's get some sleep then." Author's Note Lesson learned: Don't leave three year olds alone...ever Sorry for not updating in a while. I had major writers block. I should have mini one-shot come out in a few days. Hope you enjoyed! WordsWarning: foul language. Flash sat inside of the library, looking down at the newest Daring Do book. He took a moment to look up, see Twilight sitting on a couch a little farther away, with Starry playing on the ground beside her. She widened her eyes, something she did when she found something new that she had never known before. Carefully, she stood up and walked over to Flash, gently tapping his shoulder then pointing at a small paragraph in the book. Flash looked down at it and read, then burst out laughing. It read: Donkeys can otherwise be known as, and referred to as in some scientific books, an ass. Starry looked up from her dolls and stared at her daddy. Twilight began to laugh as well. "Who...who knew!!!" Flash managed to say, having little to no breath. Twilight continued to giggle before placing the book down on the floor and hopping up onto Flash's couch. She snuggled against his warm body and took a glance at his book. Flash gained his breath back and went back to reading, Twilight slowly falling asleep beside him. Starry stood up and went to look at the book they were laughing at. She looked at it curiously, before looking around the library. Spotting Spike sorting books at the side opposite to her, she called out. "Uncle Spikey!" Spike turned and looked at her. He walked over and asked her, "What is it Starry?" He looked up to find Flash softly snoring. "Can you r-r-read it pwease?" she said with a tad bit of trouble. He nodded his head and read the page through, even saying the part about donkeys being 'asses'. He didn't notice it, and when he finished reading the pages he looked at Starry. "Is that what you wanted starry?" He asked her. She nodded her head with a smile. "Well, ok then. I gotta get back to sorting books, be a good little filly ok?" Again, Starry nodded. Spike smiled before walking away. Starry stood up and shook her mom's shoulder. Twilight woke up and looked down at her daughter. "What is it sweetie?" "Mummy, donkeys are asses." Twilight's eyes widened. "Starry Sky!" She exclaimed, using Starry's full name. "W-What?" Starry replied. "Do not use that word ever again do you hear me?" Twilight shrieked. Flash looked at Twilight, not noticing what Starry had said. "What word? Starry, what word did you use?" Flash asked her. "Ass." Flash looked at her with a stunned look. Confused, he looked at Twilight's book she had previously been reading. He hummed in understanding. "Starry, if you ever use that word again I will take away your favorite doll. Do you understand me?" Flash scolded her. Starry nodded. "Good, now run along." Starry stood up and ran off, back to her dolls she had left on the floor. Flash shook his head. "Let's hope she doesn't use it again." Little did Flash know, he was very wrong. For five days, every time a donkey passed them, Starry would call them an ass. After taking away her dolls and giving her a small slap on her rump, she stopped saying it. And Flash could never have been happier. Author's Note Eh, I'm alive. And this was a pain to write. And it sucks. Sorry guys, but from now on I am updating when I can, sorry Expect at least one or two every month. This is so short to though... really sorry. And 'ass' is the only word I could think of at the moment. Someone told me to do this and i can't remember who, but here you go! Imagination Part 1It's no secret that children have very active imaginations. Whether children are playing pretend, creating their own stories based on things from their own lives or simply having imaginary friends, children are incredibly creative beings. This included Starry, who constantly amazed her parents with the lengths her mind would go in making up stories. At 4 years old, Starry had one of the most active imaginations in Ponyville and was always play pretending as a royal guard like her father or a ind princess like her mother. She also loved to make up stories about dragons and ponies and act them out with the other children her age; in particular four year old Gusty; sometimes in front of a small audience in the village or just her family. Twilight believed that this was one trait she had inherited from her father was her active imagination. Because of this both Flash and Twilight should have realized that there was one issue that she would have used this talent for; Flash's leg. (A/N Personal doing of mine, will explain later in a different one-shot) Flash and Twilight had never told their daughter how her daddy had come to lose his leg, thinking the time would come when they believed she would be old enough to understand. What they didn't realize was that time came a lot sooner than either of them expected or wanted. Starry had an active imagination at the best of times, but put her with four year old Gusty and it suddenly got a whole lot wilder, which it did one particular day, six months after her fourth birthday. "Gusty! Gusty, get back here right now!" Starry looked up from the book her mother was reading to her on her lap outside the castle to see Rainbow chasing her four year old son around the village, all while trying to hold onto her five month old son, Split Second. Hearing the yelling, Twilight looked up just as Rainbow stopped outside the castle, looking worn and breathless, as Gusty continued to run in and out of buildings ahead of her. "You alright there Rainbow?" Twilight asked the young mare sympathetically. "Gusty looks like he's giving you the run around." She looked around. "Where's Soarin?" "Out flying with Spitfire and High Winds," Rainbow answered wearily as she watched Gusty get further and further away from her. She nodded towards his retreating figure. "Soarin usually takes Gusty if he gets bored, but today I'm on my own. I can't keep up with both of them at the same time when he's in this mood," Rainbow explained with a sigh. Twilight looked over at Gusty, still running around ahead of his mother. "Rainbow, why don't you leave Gusty with us for the day?" She suggested kindly. "I'm sure Flash won't mind and that way he can play with Starry. You know those two never get bored of playing dragons and ponies," Twilight added with a chuckle and Starry's eyes lit up with this offer. So did Rainbow's. "Really, you wouldn't mind?" she asked Twilight gratefully. "I wouldn't usually ask, but with Soarin out and Gusty in this mood, you'd really be helping me out," Rainbow said in relief as she shifted the five month old colt in her hooves. "I don't mind Rainbow, really" Twilight smiled. "He's no trouble. I'll just ask Flash," she said with a glance towards her husband. "It's his day off, but I'm sure he won't mind." She turned to Flash, engrossed in a sketch he was doing while leaning against Pepper nearby. He hadn't heard the conversation yet. Rolling her eyes with a grin, Twilight got up and went over to him, where he finally looked up at her. "What's up Twi?" Flash asked her with a smile, completely oblivious to the conversation that had just occurred. "I know it's your day off, but you don't mind if Gusty comes over to play with Starry do you? It's just that Dash needs a break," Twilight said as she nodded towards Rainbow Dash, who smiled sheepishly at the captain of the guard. "It's fine with me," Flash said with a smile towards Rainbow as he stood up. "Gusty can come over whenever he wants Rainbow." "Thanks Flash, I appreciate this," Rainbow said gratefully, before she turned her attention to Gusty. "Gusty!" she yelled loudly, "do you want to go over to Starry's house?!" That got the colt's attention and he immediately stopped what he was doing and ran back to his mother, a look of excitement plastered on his face. "That got your attention didn't it?" Rainbow chuckled. "Now, Flash and Twilight said you can play with Starry today, so you be good; promise?" Rainbow told him firmly. Gusty nodded. "Yes, mummy," he said before he ran off to play with Starry. Rainbow turned to Flash and Twilight. "If he starts acting up, just send him home. He can be a bit of a troublemaker," Rainbow said with a sigh, glancing over at her four year old son running around with Starry who was squealing as she tried to avoid getting caught. "So can Starry when she wants to be," Twilight grinned. "He'll be fine, Rainbow. We'll drop him home before dinner." "No, I'll get Soarin to pick him up when he gets back," Rainbow said quickly. "Thanks for this Twi," she added appreciatively as she turned to leave, just as a fine dusting of snow began to come down. Twilight waved to Rainbow as she hurriedly flew up into the sky, not wanting Split Second to be exposed to the cold. "I guess that's our cue to go inside," Flash said with a look at the falling snow. He turned to the kids with a smile. "Sorry kids, but it's too cold out here. You'll have to go inside and play." He ushered them towards the castle where they both sighed, but went to follow Twilight inside. As Flash began to follow, though, Twilight's eyes suddenly widened. "Flash, watch out for that-" Flash's metal leg caught in a small hollow in the ground and wobbled with his weight on it, sending him sprawling; Pepper tried to catch her friend and support him, but was too slow and could only watch as he fell face first into the snowy grass. "-hole," Twilight finished with a wince. Flash groaned and spat out a few blades of grass as he sat up again causing both Starry and Gusty to burst into fits of laughter and a moment later Twilight joined in, unable to help herself. "The old metal leg strikes again it seems," Flash said dryly as he stood up from the ground, make Twilight just laugh harder. "No, you just keep forgetting the hole's there, that's all!" Twilight laughed. "I've never seen anyone so accident prone in my life!" Starry giggled too. "You're clumsy daddy!" "Nice to know my girls have so much faith in me," Flash said, voice dripping in sarcasm, causing Twilight and Starry to burst into fits of laughter again, as did Gusty who was looking at Flash's metal leg in wonder. Why did he have a metal leg anyway? He would ask Starry; she'd know. After a moment, Twilight finally calmed down, before she gave her husband a grin. "We do have faith in you; we just know you're accident prone" Twilight said in amusement, making Flash groan, but grin at his wife as he gave her a tender kiss on the lips, before bending down and kissing his daughter's cheek, making her giggle. "Im not that clumsy, am I sweetie?" Flash asked her with a chuckle. Starry grinned at her father. "Yes, you are, daddy," she said honestly. Flash shook his head. "I feel the love sweetie, thank you," Flash said dryly, but he beamed and picked his daughter up, tickling her which made her squeal in fits of laughter again as he and Twilight brought her and Gusty inside from the cold flurries of snow. "Sorry that you two have to play inside, but it's too cold outside now. Just play what you want in here, but be careful alright?" Flash said as he, Twilight and Pepper went to sit down by the personal fireplace while Starry and Gusty sat on her blanket on the floor. "We will daddy," Starry said with a smile as she and Gusty began their usual game of dragons and ponies for a moment, before Gusty looked at FLask and then back at Starry. "Starry, where did your daddy's leg go?" Gusty asked his friend curiously. Starry looked up at Gusty with a look of surprise on her face. None of the others foals had ever asked her that and she didn't know the answer either. Her daddy's metal leg was just there. It was so normal to her that she had never really thought about it, but now it got her thinking; where had her daddy's leg gone? Her parents had never told her about it and all she knew was that he had lost it long before she was born. "I don't know," Starry admitted, " it's been like that for a long time. Mummy and daddy never told me what happened," Starry said with a frown. "When did he lose it?" Gusty asked curiously. Starry gave a shrug. "I don't know. A long time ago, before I was born. Daddy never says why, but he always makes funny jokes about it. Like when he falls," Starry giggled, remembering the incident outside. "Maybe it fell off!" Gusty suggested. "Can legs do that?" Gusty asked with wide eyes. Starry eyes widened in shock at the suggestion, before she laughed. "Legs can't just fall off!" Starry giggled. "If they could, no one would have one!" Gusty frowned in thought, we as much thought a four year old could do anyway. Then he looked around the room and spotted Pepper asleep in the corner of the room where Starry followed his gaze and knowing what he was thinking, he gasped. "Pepper didn't bite my daddy's leg off!" Starry protested. "She loves my daddy. It would have been another bad dog," Starry said as she looked at Gusty, who frowned in annoyance. "It wasn't MY daddy's falcon! Hooky is only naughty listening to MY daddy. He loves your daddy!" Gusty replied in a huff. Starry giggled. "I was only being silly," she said. "Maybe it was a wild dog?" she suggested. "Maybe daddy was trying to save one of the princesses and it took my daddy's leg?" "Maybe," Gusty said with a nod. "My daddy said there were lots of evil ponies who had evil dogs that used to fight use good ponies so maybe an evil pony took you daddy's ;eg like they took you Uncle Sharp Shot's," Gusty said. "Why doesn't daddy hate dogs then? If a dog took it, wouldn't he hate Pepper?" said Starry mystified. (A/N Starry is obsessed with dogs, so ya know....DOG EVERYTHING XD mlp villains don't have evil dogs :P) "I don't know, maybe it wasn't a dog. Maybe it was a pirate!" Gusty exclaimed dramatically. Starry frowned. "My daddy's never mentioned a pirate," she said. "Maybe it was an accident?" Starry suggested quietly as she suddenly looked down at her left hoof where there was a faint, small scar that stretched a little way up her hoof where she hurt herself a year ago trying to use her mother's axe. "An accident?" Gusty asked, perplexed. Starry showed him her scaar. "I hurt myself being naughty with mummy's axe a little while ago," she explained. "Mummy was very scared when I did and she kept saying about daddy's leg. Maybe he accidently lost his leg playing around with an axe too and that's why mummy and daddy were so scared," Starry wondered sadly. "I guess it could've been an accident, but how did daddy lose his leg?" Starry asked Gusty before her eyes suddenly widened. "Daddy's very clumsy, maybe he got it stuck somewhere. He always says he'll lose another one if he's not careful," Starry said with die eyes, turning her attention to her daddy, talking to her mummy on the couch in the room; her mum's head lying on his chest. Gusty followed her line of sight and he stuck out his tongue in disgust at the scene. "Eww," he shuddered. "Are your mummy and Daddy always like that?" Gusty asked his friend in disgust making Starry burst into fits of giggles. "Not all the time," she giggled. "Mummy and daddy sometimes fight, but not for long. Daddy gets scared of mummy mad," Starry said with another round of giggles. "You think your mummy could've done it?" Gusty whispered jokingly and Starry went silent for a moment, before bursting into fits of giggles along with Gusty, falling back onto the floor laughing. "No way!" Starry said breathlessly and Gusty grinned again just as Flash and Twilight looked up at the laughing pair with confused looks on their faces. "What are you two laughing at?" Twilight asked them and the two 4 year olds looked at them innocent grins. "Nothing mummy," Starry told them innocently. Flash and Twilight looked at each other with an amused look, but let them go, keeping an ear on the conversation in the process, though. Starry looked back at Gusty before giving him a playful punch on the arm with a grin. "That was mean Gusty, why did you say that!" Starry laughed. Gusty winced at the contact of Starry's hoof but grinned at his friend. "I was joking," he grinned. "My mummy threatens my daddy when he's being annoying," Gusty added, leaving Starry once again to try and hold back a laugh. "Yeah, but she doesn't do anything Gust!" Starry grinned and Gusty blushed at Starry's nickname for him, before laughing. "Maybe a troll ate daddy's leg?" Starry said with a gasp and Gusty snorted, in a way much like his father. "They steal socks Starry. Like they steal you Uncle Sharp Shot's," (A/N He wears boots in his forge.) Gusty said matter-of-factly. "Oh yeah." "Daddy told me about nasty plants he's seen flying once. Your daddy could have had his leg eaten by a plant," Gusty said. "Or an animal," Starry said. "Daddy use to go out in the forest a lot." Starry frowned. "A plant?" Starry questioned. Gusty shrugged. "Maybe a plant suddenly grabbed your daddy's leg and ate it?" Gusty said, his imagination, like Starry's, now running wild. Starry gasped at the thought of her daddy losing his leg to a plant and Gusty grinned mischievously and started to snap at Starry like that plant, before he started chasing her. Starry squealed and ran off, Gusty chasing after her, their theories forgotten in their minds for now. They weren't forgotten in Flash and Twilight's minds, though. Having eavesdropped on the kid's conversation after Starry had laughed earlier, Twilight was now looking at Flash with a look of amusement on her face, Flash looking back at her with an identical expression. "Is she...trying to guess how I lost my leg?" Flash asked, amazed. Twilight nodded with an odd expression on her face. "I guess her imagination doesn't just stop with her games now," she sighed. "We should have known that she'd use it to guess what happened to your leg," Twilight said. Flash wasn't deterred though and he grinned. "I like some of them actually, they're more interesting. Especially the one where they thought it was you," Flash said grinning cheekily and Twilight snorted and hit him on the arm with a smile, before her face turned serious. "Flash, as much as I love our daughter's imagination, I think it's time she knew the truth," Twilight said. Author's Note Hmm, cliffhanger. Holy shit ok I'm back it's been a really long time. Starry's FeverFlash was awoken from his slumber by a loud distressed wail and sat bolt upright.
Hope you enjoyed this little one-shot and I PROMISE the next one will be up sometime next week
AccidentA year ago, Flash and Twilight didn't think there could be anything worse than the terrible twos.
I'm going to update Living with the sparkles soon but I'm very sorry to say that may be the last chapter. Yeah, you read that right. I'm going to be canceling the story. POSSIBLY. I don't have much inspiration for it anymore and I'm no longer really a part of the MLP fandom. Sorry guys. As much as I love your guys support and stuff, I'm not going to be continuing. Of course, that may change depending on the responses to this. More things are taking up my time, for example my youtube channel. It's growing and I'm really trying to keep up with putting up videos and stuff. Yeah... so thats one reason. I have many more but I don't want to bore you guys. Also, I'm part of the how to train your dragon fandom, and I'm truly a bigger fan of it. Much more inspiration towards that, and I'm writing fanfic for HTTYD so if you guys still wanna see my writing leave me support here and it would be great if you could support me on Wattpad (user is thatrandomdragon). I may post this on there idk yet. So, if you guys want Living with the Sparkles to keep updating and you don't mind a long wait between chapters tell me and I'll remember to update it once in a while. (Of course, it may not be full of life and really good but eh) OK DONE RANTING BYE GUYS.
QUICK NOTEHey guys! So, if you don't know already, I cancelled this story. But I do want to make sure that you all know that it has been taken up by ShadowsofEquestria. So, go and read that if you truly did like this story and really want to see it be continued (not by me of course) by a devoted reader of mine. Thanks for 1k views guys! wanted to point that out... lol. Adios amigos/amigas!
uhhhhdone sorry bye guys. Story is cancelled. Goodbye. Ok this story is cancelled I'm not going to be completing it EVER. Sorry guys, this story is dead, along with this account and anything I've done with it. I'm going to be on for a while more, replying to your comments and stuff, but then this is going to be abandoned. Again, I'm sorry, but I'm no longer a fan, and MLP doesn't excite me like it did before. So, I guess this is goodbye.
