Luna wandered around in the pale blue space. She would quickly glance into one of the white dots before moving along to the next. She was looking for one in particular. She had been walking in here for what had felt like days, but in reality, it had only been a few minutes, maybe an hour. No matter how long she looked, she couldn't find what she had been looking for. Finally, she saw a flicker of a multi colored flowing tail in an orb to her left. Luna looked deeper, and felt herself being pulled into the dream. When Lunas vision cleared, she saw Celestia standing over her.
"Sister, what are you doing?" Gasped Luna, trying to stand. Celestia narrowed her eyes and lowered her horn, pointing it between Lunas eyes. Lunas pupil’s dilated in fear as Celestias lip raised in a grin, revealing yellow, pointed teeth. Luna tried to breathe, but found that she couldn't. Celestias horn started to glow, and Luna had to think quickly. She stretched her wings and quickly smacked Celestia, blinding her. Luna took the second and kicked Celestia off of her, sending her flying. Luna quickly took flight, trying to get out of this dream. She could see a large black square above her, and knew if she could only reach it, she would be free. The square was rapidly approaching, and she flew even faster. Just another half-mile, and she could make it out.
The sides of her mouth lifted. Oh how great it felt to spread her massive wings! Her smile couldn't have gotten much bigger, but it quickly melted away when she felt a quick and hard jolt on her hind leg. She glanced down, only to see Celestia holding her leg, dragging her down. Luna flapped her wings harder, trying desperately to escape. She felt a burning on her leg and looked down again to see Celestia. No, it wasn't Celestia. It was a pony Luna had hoped to never see again. Luna squeezed her eyes shut as tears formed and blurred her vision. It was Celestias Fury. Every pony has one, and like a cutie mark, it's unique to that pony. For Luna, it was Nightmare Moon. For Celestia, it was Solar Flare.
***
Solar Flare had only emerged once before, and that was before Equestria was formed. She had burned entire forests, evaporated oceans, and scorched the very heavens. For Luna, it took a long time for her Fury to get enough strength. For Celestia, it only took a moment. Their parent’s deaths. Celestia and Luna had been hiding in the mountains when news came. They saw their parent’s pet phoenix, Philomena, soaring across the sky in search for them. Celestia and Luna both shot out flares from their horns to show where they were. Philomena floated down. The girls both watched her eagerly, waiting for news about when they would see their beloved parents again. Philomena looked down in shame. A bright ring of fire engulfed the large bird, and when it dispersed, a fiery alicorn stood before them.
"Aunt Philomena!" Cried the two fillies, running to her. The alicorn lowered both her wings to hug them tightly.
"Where's mommy and daddy?" Asked Luna, looking up. Philomena lowered her head, a tear sliding down her cheek.
"Th-they aren't coming back, sweetie" she said quietly. Luna and Celestia both gasped.
"W-why not?" Asked Celestia.
"I'm so sorry girls. I couldn't protect them. Your parents fought bravely, but eventually succumbed to their wounds in the midst of battle" said Philomena, tears flowing freely. Luna hung her head and cried quietly while Celestia just sat in shock. Lunas coat grew slightly darker and the grass around her began to freeze. Her chill, though, was quickly blown away by a terrible heat. She glanced up and saw that Celestia was a bright, blood red. Luna gasped and scooted away.
"You were supposed to protect them" whispered Celestia, deep and low. "You were supposed to protect them and now they're dead"
"Celestia, please. Calm down" said Philomena in a calm but forceful voice.
"No! You got them killed! You killed them!" Shouted Celestia. Her cutie mark was glowing, wisps of fire emanating from it. Her eyes were bright orange. Celestia lowered her head and choked out a loud sob. When she did, a ring of fire burned out around her and she flew up into the sky.
"Celestia!" Barked Philomena, flying after her, leaving Luna alone. Bright shots of fire flew off of her horn. When one would hit the ground, flames would engulf the area. Any time they hit water, it would evaporate. The next time Luna looked up, Celestia was a full grown mare, almost bigger than Philomena, who was currently trying to break through Celestias shields.
"Burn! Burn! This world will burn! And then the next! And the next! And the next! I will burn those who hurt me! It will all burn!" Shouted Celestia, cackling wildly. She took a moment to stand back and admire her work. It was so beautiful. Everything was a shade of red or orange, but still, something wasn't right. No, down below in the middle of all of the elegant flames was a small blue foal. Blue, what an ugly color. When the world belonged to her, all of the colors such as green, blue, and black would be done away with. The only colors they needed were the colors of the sun. Her horn ignited in a brilliant blaze and a beam of fire shot towards the blue speck. Solar Flare knew she would enjoy watching that little beast burn. The fire neared Luna and her heartrate quickened in anticipation. But, of course, something went wrong. A large blur streaked in front of Luna, dissipating the fire. Solar Flare gritted her teeth and growled. Who would dare? Her eyes narrowed before opening wide in shock.
"N-no! It can't be! You aren't real! You're dead!" She cried, launching fire over and over again, which of course didn't do anything. Luna looked up and gasped.
"M-mommy? Daddy?" She said, unbelieving. The two ponies standing before her looked back, each giving her a warm smile before turning back to Solar Flare. The two took off at the same time, soaring towards her. At the same time, Philomena broke the last shield. The three alicorns all flew at her. Philomena turned back into a phoenix and flew around Solar Flare, scratching at her cheeks, but avoiding her eyes. While Solar Flare was distracted, Stellarus and Lux started flying around her in perfect synchronization, silver rays trailing from their horns and weaving an intricate net. At last, Philomena flew away and Stellarus and Lux finished the spell. The silver net tightened, cutting into Solar Flares skin. Well, cutting wasn't the right word. They more of morphed into the skin, latching onto something deep inside. Stellarus pulled hard on the silver ropes, separating them from Celestia. Lux quickly caught Celestia in her hooves and carried her down to the ground. Stellarus was hard at work, weaving layer over layer of magic around the small lump that had been pulled out of Celestia. Speaking of Celestia, she was crying loudly while her mother rubbed her back softly with her hoof. Finally, Stellarus finished the spell. He had created a large neck plate made of gold, a dark purple gem set in it. He landed lightly next to Celestia and presented to her the piece of jewelry.
"This contains your Fury. Be careful to never fully shatter this gem. To keep it safe, you must wear it most of the time" he said in a deep voice. Celestia wiped her eyes and nodded up at her father. They both hugged Celestia before glowing an ethereal blue and vanishing. Philomena floated down and clacked her beak. She led the two to a cave and lit a fire as night fell. Celestia and Philomena slept side by side. Luna quietly rose and escaped out into the night. The silver light of a full moon shone down on her. She looked up and noticed that not a single star was out, and that even the moon didn't shine like it should. Then she realized that her father, who usually controlled the night, was dead. It was her duty to protect the night now.
Luna ignited her horn and focused. The moon glowed with a beautiful light and small pinpricks of light shifted in the sky. A bright beam lifted Luna into the sky and she took deep breaths, the cold air flowing into her lungs. A flash of light shone from her flank and her cutie mark appeared. A silver, crescent moon shone up at her, directly over the black burn she had gotten mere hours before. That burn would certainly make a black scar. She was excited, but still very deeply sad. She had almost been killed by her last relative, gotten extremely injured, and had been told that her parents were dead all in the same day, and all any pony cared about was Celestia. Even her parents, when they had returned, only gave her a smile. Not a hug or a kiss or even a word. Just a smile. Yet they crowded around Celestia. Luna sat down hard and stared up at the moon. A tear slid down her cheek, followed by another, then another.

"No!" Growled Luna, turning and gripping Solar Flare tightly around her waist and raced towards the ground, sending up a cloud of dust around them when they made impact. Solar Flare opened her eyes and gasped.
"What?" Came a deep voice. "Surprised? It's best to fight fire with fire"
Solar Flares pupil dilated. Reflected in her shiny orange eyes, was none other than Nightmare Moon.
