A unicorn research team in the frozen north have set up in a laboratory designed to do magical researches about other worlds. But as they analyse a sample recovered from one of those worlds, something terrible happens.
As Celestia herself deems necessary to research advanced Arcane technology, she builds the Frozen North Facility in, well, the Frozen North, and launches the M.A.T. project and assigns Twilight Sparkle as its' leader. But something terrible happens, costing the life of hundreds of ponies. Will Firelance, a young Scientist Mare save the remaining Scientists?
