The Return of Night Mare

Night Mare carefully crept through the forest until the voices got louder.

"I told you this was a bad idea!"

Night Mare quickly hid behind a bush. She poked her head out, and saw two fillies. One orange and one white. Although both of them looked nervous, the white one looked especially nervous.

"This is a terrible terrible terrible idea!" The white filly was shivering with fright. "We should just go back!"

"We don't have a choice!" The orange filly insisted. "It was a double dare!"

"But going into the Everfree forest this late is too much!"

"Come on! People go into the Everfree Forest all the time! There's nothing to be afraid of!"

Night Mare's eyes glimmered as she watched them. Over the orange filly's head she could see the ghostly illusion of bats. Over the white filly's head she could see the ghostly illusions of all sorts of creatures. Mostly bats and snakes. She blinked, and the images disappeared. Slowly, she crept out from around the bush.

"Please excuse me!" Night Mare called out to the fillies.

Both fillies' heads turned almost instantaneously.

"If you're trying to get out of this forest, I can show you the way." Night Mare offered, trying her best to sound as friendly as she could.

Unfortunately her effort was in vain.

Both of the fillies jumped back and grabbed each other. They both closed their eyes and started shivering. As Night Mare moved in to try to calm down the fillies, the white filly opened her eyes. The white filly looked her right in her yellow reptilian eyes, and let out a blood curdling scream.

"Wait! Please! Calm down! I'm just try to help! I-" But Night Mare was interrupted by a series of flashes in the bushes.

Out of seemingly nowhere, a blue pegasus, a green earth pony and a blue pegasus rushed to the fillies' sides. Night Mare ducked her head, and tried to run back into the forest. But she was cut off. She looked up, and saw a face she hoped never to see again. A face that was all too familiar to her. Prowler.
