Protect the Bearers or all is lost.

The strange and powerful voice that spoke through the image of the Tree of Harmony had so commanded him in the vision he isn't quite sure was just a vision. With glimpses of the possible dangers to come, a man out of place has his work cut out for him.

He has been in Equestria for two months now, though his memories of the time period have been swiss-cheesed for as long as another two months, due to what the Royal Sisters had done. Even in just the past week for a special Royal Summit held in Canterlot, he's discovered many strange coincidences around himself and his life on Earth. Inexplicable abilities and traits, odd stuff with his adoptive parents on Earth, his tattoo and name, the strange timing of his appearance in the sky after finding an orb in an Earth forest that brought him to a new world among the growing list of mysteries. He has begun to question just how much of his life on Earth was what it appeared. Even his romance and soul link with Princess Twilight Sparkle bears questioning when he seems almost perfect for her desires and as her bodyguard, leaving him with far more questions than answers about his own existence. Even wondering if he was somehow designed for where he has now found himself.

Drafted into the Guard by Celestia & Luna alongside the Bearers during the Royal Summit, he now awaits a special team being assembled that will arrive in Ponyville in another week. They are coming to help him protect the girls, and train both them and himself for the coming storm that threatens to consume not just Equestria, but Equus itself.

None of them know just how close to their doorstep danger already is.

Author commentary-type stuff:

First off, for those just glancing to see if they're interested, try the Prologue of this book. It has lacks spoilers for the first book, as it takes place about 2000 years in the past with Starswirl and an OC wizard attending a needed list of tasks. I'm also going to summarize key points of the first book when they come up, particularly in the first couple chapters of this one, so a reader doesn't necessarily have to read Pathfinding to understand certain things unless they want to get exact details. I personally once got into a long printed book series by starting with the second book and became hooked. This second book is also worlds ahead, skill-wise, of my many stumbles before finding my feet in the first. If you read the first book, expect things to be a bit awkward until as late as Ch 14/15, when I drop the first big hammers.

To clarify the above statement about not doing blunt clop, let me say this: There is sex, but unless I have a specific contextual reason to be direct in presenting it (there is one middle chapter planned that requires it, but I will not mark it, contextual surprises), I will usually just allude and/or tease about it, but not do much of what would be called clop. As has been said by others, sex is part of the story but not the reason for it, though I personally prefer to keep it to close-but-not-quite and teasing even then. Then again, everything I do is off the cuff and on the fly, so sometimes things may just suit the flow of things, like some characters having no shame about banging and talking about it. I've got an interpretation of Winning-verse Cloud Kicker involved along the way, after all!

I don't know if this book will be longer or shorter than the first just yet, though longer is probable. I have a lot to cover and this one runs from Autumn all the way till mid to late Spring in the timeline. I already know the way I'll finish this second book, but we'll see how things fill out in the middle along the way. There's going to be more fighting, and a bunch more characters. The coming squad is not all of them.

Also, if you think you figured out some of the hidden secrets about a given character or anything else and want to see if you're right, feel free to PM me with it and the reason why. I'll only confirm or deny if provided a reason why. There's a LOT hidden this story. Some secrets won't be revealed until the 5th book. There's a hidden joke (by a given perspective to the characters making it anyway) that runs the entire story until a certain event in the 5th book. I have some serious twists and surprises planned.

Really, it's hard to believe I did a whole book...well, according to standard measures of the average novel, about two! And although I have to finish the major revision of the first book, there's still 4 more to go! Whoo!
