Twilight and her friends are send on a mission, which requires them to travel to another dimension. Little did that Princess Twilight know that it would not only change the setting, but the time, too. As for Rainbow Dash, it changed her identity.
When six friends are exploring, Twilight accidentally casts a spell that misfired and threw them all into another world. Her, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Applejack all end up in a city they couldn't recognize. It couldn't be in Equestria, because they changed form into something. Something Twilight did recognize, in some ways.
