A not so perfect winter wrap upby Left The FandomChaptersPrologueCh1: A perfect OrganismCh2: Building better Worlds?Ch3: Evolutionarily perfected, an absolute killing machine!Ch4: Enter Dr. WilchynskiPrologueThe silent hum of an engine was the only noise audible in the small space, aside from the silent tapping of footsteps against the grated metal floor. The silent hum and nothing else enough to make a man go insane. Sweat dropped from the mans face, falling to the ground with the tiniest, 'Splosh' The man continued walking, his shivering causing swear to pour from his face faster. Peering around the corner, nothing. The man sighed and ducked back behind the wall, breathing heavily. No words were spoken, nothing, silence. The hum continued just as the man continued down the corridor. Stopping only inches away from the door, it began to beep silently. Both the red and green flashing, and with a silent hiss the door opened. Stepping through without any hesitation the man let a long sigh out closing his eyes. It was hard to tell if he was crying from the exponential amount of sweat falling from his brow and his face. Suddenly a loud thump along with the coiling of the tail sounded from somewhere near, the man gasped, and then a pause. It felt like hours until the man heard the long hiss and the thumping of footsteps. "Shit..." He whispered, his face contorting back and forth from worry to aggravation, the smell he gave off from weeks without showering should've given away his position to the ominous killer, but it seemed that thing liked to play hide and seek. Cat and mouse, ant and boot. The man knew if it tried hard enough he would be dead. And yet why didn't it? Why did the creature enjoy playing games, it knew he was defenseless. And it seemed to enjoy watching him suffer... He ducked under a table as the thumping got louder. And the familiar sound of a door hissing open was audible, and now the thumping was even louder. It hissed, as if saying, 'I know your in here' Before thumping into the room, heavy footsteps grating against metal was all that was heard in the room. And this time the creature would find the man, and kill him. The man let out a sharp breath as the creature thumped past, it's drool dropping and hitting the floor almost rhythmically. Splish Splosh Splish Then the man screamed as the creature stopped in front of the table and looked under it, it was learning. The man tried to back away, and managed to un-balance the creature with a sold kick that ended in the most disturbing screech. The man ran like hell, his footsteps alerting everyone of his presence. And suddenly another blood curdling cry was heard as the creature charged, this was known by the thumping of its feet as its legs worked like Pistons. The man cried out in agony as he tripped and fell on his face. It was getting closer... The man stood up and began running towards the control console. His intention to strand the beast on a planet near by. Closer... The man gasped and turned around, he was almost to the room and was ready to get his sweet revenge. Closer... The man ran into the room and grabbed the steer mechanism, the ship violently jerked left and right, up and down. And then it locked on the planet nearby. And then the man was impaled, blood dropped to the floor. It was to late, the creature was doomed and seemed to realize it. And it did the only thing a Xenomorph would do, wail like a banshee. It was a happy day in Ponyville as snow rained down. Winter Wrap up was coming soon and Everypony was ready for the warmer weather. A certain purple mare sat in her house, well more like castle. A warm fire a blaze, and she had a book out. Twilight, was her name, Princess of Friendship. Defeated Nightmare Moon with her friends, Reformed Discord with her friends, she had done much with her friends. But making sure everything was in check for the Winter Wrap up wasn't one of them. She had finished hours earlier and had been ready since. The eerie silence of the room other than the crackle of the fire almost reminiscent of what joy WOULD sound like after what would happen. Grumbling to herself, she stood and smiled as she walked to get some ice water. She was thirsty, and needed a drink. Grabbing a cup and filling it with ice and of course water, she took a sip and let out a loud, "Ahhh..." As her nerves reset in contact of the cool liquid hitting her throat and mouth. She smiled remembering that shooting starts were supposed to be visible in little under and hour. Heading to a balcony she pulled out a telescope and began observing the skies. Nothing, "Where are they?" Asked Twilight starting to get cold from the frigid air. She was ready to walk away, when a faint flaming ball began to appear in the sky. She quickly recovered and shot back to observing the sky, it was amazing and it was heading, "The EverFree?" Twilight asked shocked, from what she had heard nothing was supposed to hit down. She let out a gasp as it got closer, and closer, until finally with a distant, BOOM That rattled the ground, it had landed, "Spike, Get the Girls..." The explosion hadn't helped anything, it only sent the flaming piece of wreckage another fifty plus feet. The snow was quick to help kill the blaze, and then all was silent. The snow continued raining down, the wind rustled the trees faintly. It seemed like it was over. And then a cry and wail of agony echoed through the wreck and into the forest. The crickets stopped, so did the frogs, and toads, it was dead silence. And suddenly a piece of the steaming metal was shot from the giant crash. It landed some feet away, the steam becoming more intense from the snow it landed in as the burning metal cooled. A hiss responded to the steam leaving the area. Then a large six fingered hand grabbed the small opening, then another. And then the creature emerged, it's carapace already healing from the wounds it received in the unexpected explosion. It once again hissed and scampered into the forest quickly. The Nightmare had begun... Ch1: A perfect Organism "So what was yer' reason for-" Applejack yawned, "Gettin all of us up close to midnight?" Applejack finished, the bags under her eyes slowly fading. She had been expecting a peaceful sleep, she didn't expect to be woken up at a ridiculous hour. "Ya, Egghead, why'd you wake us up? I am way to tired for this..." Said Rainbow Dash bringing down a small cloud and resting on it. She had taken three naps that day, and a Was apparently still tired. "Because, something crashed in the EverFree. We need to go check it out." Said Twilight looking around at all her half asleep friends. She didn't have time or patience for this. "But Darling, you don't expect us to go in there at this hour. Do you?" Asked Rarity brushing her mane even though there was a likely chance of going back to bed. "OOOOOOH! Is it an Alien from outer space? Does he like cake? How old is he? I wonder wh-" Pinkie was cut off by Applejack inserting a hoof into her mouth, "Let's just get moving y'all, I just wanna sleep again." Applejack yawned again. "Has any pony even asked Fluttershy what she thinks?" Asked Twilight irritatedly looking over at her shy friend. The butter Pegasus backed away, all eyes on her, dead silence, "I...uh...think... That I should stay here, and make-make sure... Nothing escapes?" Fluttershy offered with a sheepish smile and trying to hide behind her pink mane. "Nice try Fluttershy, we need you if things get aggressive. You have a stare remember?" Asked Rainbow picking Fluttershy up and placing her in the group. Flutter shy was dead silent. "Well let's go, we're all tired, let's get it over with!" Shouted Rainbow looking around, ready to once again fall asleep. "Alright." The Xenomorph scampered through the forest. It's carapace almost fully healed. The trail of footprints it left a dead give away something had survived the crash. The Xenomorph stopped, and let out a low hiss scanning the area. Something was nearby, and it could sense it. Five things, not edible, but yet somehow alive? The Xeno hissed once more trying to understand what the creatures even were. Suddenly a low growl escaped the underbrush nearby. The Xeno tensed, slowly turning around. The frigid air not affecting him in any way. A tiny snap was heard as whatever was stalking the bushes nearby was clumsy enough to make noise. The Xeno stood all the way up, his full height much taller than what was going to try to kill him. Whatever was in the bush seemed to take this like a 'good to go' sign and leapt. It howled as it soared through the air towards the foreign creature. The Xeno let out a cry that would make the hardiest warrior cringe, and smashed the strange wood like creature to the side. Whatever it was exploded into millions of splinters on contact of the ground. Suddenly three more ranging from large to small leapt from different spot around the Xenomorph. They growled and barked. So the Xeno hissed and growled right back. The first Timberwolf made its move by charging. It was met head on and splintered to pieces like his brother before him. The others took their opportunity. One leapt and tried to grapple into the Xenomorphs back, and the other decided going for its face was a joyous idea. In one swift movement the Xeno's inner mouth shot strait through the timberwolfs head. The other was removed by the pure lack of grip on the dorsal tubes. It yelped and fell to the ground with a crash as snow exploded around him. The Xeno pinned him down, and it was once again silence. Twilight trudged through the snow, grumbling at how cold it was. Her friends weren't fairing much better. All of them complaining, especially Rarity. Jesus she couldn't keep her mouth shut. Everypony was getting irritated, and suddenly a foreign cry of victory sounded through the night piercing their ears, "What the hay was that!?" Asked Rainbow looking around towards the source of the noise, "Whatever it was sounds angrier than a rattlesnake in a mongoose den." Said Applejack removing her hat, her face of worry. "My, whatever it was, it's screams rival that of a foals." Said Rarity shivering as the horrendous noise echoed throughout her brain. "We gotta get moving to stop it!" Shouted Twilight taking off towards the source of the ear-splitting, earth-shattering cry. The Xenomorph, who was nicknamed Black Death for now obvious reasons, hunched over once again. Still standing bipedal, as his host had primarily. Black let out a low hiss and growl, a habit he and all Xenomorphs shared. There was another, Black had sensed five, he had killed four. As if on a que, a much larger Timberwolf leapt through the brush. This one easily stood much taller than him, and was much stronger. It let out a low growl, so did Black. The Alpha Timberwolf leapt, Big mistake. Black shot out a spray of acid, a skill he never used. Due to the possibility of burning through the hull of the ship. But he wasn't on the ship anymore, he was on a planet. The Alpha yowled in pain as his face melted, he completely missed Black and soared right into the ground, what was left of his face splintering into shards that disintegrated themselves. Black was done with the distraction and needed a something edible. It wasn't true that his species didn't eat, it was just rarely witnessed or even rarely occurred. The yowl echoed through the forest, and all the six heard. Only Fluttershy however knew what the howl was from and why it happened, "Oh my Celestia! It's hurting the animals!" Shouted Fluttershy in pure terror, sadness, and what only could be described as a small amount of rage. "We have to keep moving if we're gonna catch whatever it is!" Shouted Applejack picking up her pace. She wasn't about to let whatever the creature thought it was to make one of her friends cry. Rainbow took off as well, the others could barley keep up. Which essentially isolated Dash with the face of fear itself. She was halfway to the source of the noise, when she spotted a flaming wreck. Rainbow immediately knew where the creature had come from, what creature was so annoying as to just crash here and make it their problem? The premise disgusted her. She continued her flight, the snowfall occurring didn't help finding the creature at all. Suddenly a hiss resonated through the air, "Gotcha," Said Dash confidently diving towards where the sound exploded from. She landed, the snow picking up, almost completely blinding her, "Ah buck! This snow doesn't help anypony." She grumbled struggling to look around. The only noise that now filled the forest was the whistling of the wind, and the crunch of the snow. Suddenly crunching picked up from somewhere near Dash. There was no way she could move without making noise, so she decided to fly. With some difficulty Dash managed to make it to where the crunching was, what she saw would haunt her for the rest of her days. The creature was there, hunched over. Its tail coiled around it. It seemed like it knew she was there, but did nothing to stop her. She gasped as it spun around. Stumbling back, she fell into the snow. 'Wait a second... I've taken on a dragon! Why should this thing be so special?' Dash cockily thought to herself. She took to the sky, and with no consequences in mind, charged. Twilight and the others bustled through the forest, hoping to find Rainbow Dash, "Dash! Where are ya'!?" Shouted Applejack, "DASH! DASH!" Pinkie randomly called out, it's Pinkie, nuff' said. The group continued their trek, and heard an all to familiar battle cry, "Oh dear...." Said Rarity face hoofing. The group ran in the direction they heard Dash charge at something. And then the cry of the creature rattled the very ground beneath them, and so did a cry of pain from Dash, "NO!!" Shouted Twilight picking up the pace. They finally broke through to see what had attacked Dash. The thing was over seven feet tall, all jet black and glossy, had a elongated head, tubes on its back, and a nine-foot tail loomed behind it. The creature, or Black, was distracted by the arrival of five other things that he hardly noticed Dash charging, he let out the cry of a mottled boat as he was struck and sailed through the air, before striking the ground with a loud thump. The group gasped with they saw Dash, she was all bruised, and thank Celestia nothing more, "I got it!" Shouted Dash triumphantly, and she started doing her victory dance, "Are you Crazy?!?" Shrieked Twilight running up to her friend, "You could've died!" She shouted looking back to the creature, it seemed unconscious. "But I didn't!" Shouted Dash looking at Twilight, "That's the best part!" "But Darling, what would've happened if you did? You only worry us all when you charge like that." Said Rarity standing beside Twilight, "Girls...." "Yea, Ah agree with Rarity." Said Applejack as a small argument began. "Girls...." The argument increased as Pinkie rolled around in the snow. A low hiss made all of them realize the creature was far from done. It stood up and they all scampered into formation, but to their surprise the creature let out a final hiss. Before slowly backing away. "Where do you think your going?!" Asked Dash trying to fly after it, but bring lassoed in the process, "Dash the last thing all of us need is you charging off after a creature that seems to not care about life." Said Applejack hauling her back in. "Well what are we gonna do about it then?!" Shouted Dash struggling to get free, "We go back and see if we can find where it came from, we have enough time. It's a long ways away from the town. It won't be getting there anytime soon." Said Twilight confidently. The group groaned. Ch2: Building better Worlds? The girls all trudged through the snow once more, Dash leading them, "I know it was this way!" She shouted going in another direction, she was acting confident, but they all knew here sense of direction was worse than Derpy's depth perception. But anyways, the frigid air whistled as their teeth chattered. The group was still worried about whatever had assaulted them, "Whatever it was, it can forget having a party." Grunted Pinkie seemingly reading every ponies minds. They all looked at her, Applejack was the one to pipe up, "Ah think that thing... Havin a party is the least of our worries." She mumbled shaking some snow off of her orange fur. "Uh Girls..." Fluttershy whispered, barely heard over the slight banter being tossed around the group. "What now Fluttershy?" Asked an agitated Dash, ignoring Rarity who continued to argue. Everypony was... Tired and cold. "Oh-oh.... Uh.... The-the thing we're looking for is over there..." Fluttershy whispered looking down, the group looking in the direction she was facing. The five others gasped as they saw the wreck, even in a short period of time the metal had partly melted, but cooled. Even from the slight snowfall, snow was already gathering atop it. If they hadn't reached it any sooner, it might of been lost under the snow, "Good eyes Fluttershy." Said Twilight smiling at her friend, before walking to the front of the group, "Alright Girls, anything could happen. So, stick together. For all we know another one of those things could be waiting to attack." Said Twilight turning around and looking at the remnants of a once great ship, "Let's go..." She whispered to herself as they all started towards the giant metal object. When they reached it, Applejack spoke up, "Is this where that thing came from? I would've figured it would be... Ah don't know... Like a meteor or something." Applejack then looked at the place which the creature clawed its way out. "Whatever built this has a horrible fashion taste, such a-" Rarity didn't get to finish her statement, as Twilight butted in. "Whatever built it Rarity is clearly above what we have..." Grumbled Twilight observing the frigid pile of metal carefully. "So you saying what attacked me, was advanced?" Rainbow asked confused, "Because I didn't get anything advanced off of that... Thing." She grumbled. "Looks like somepony has been using the word calendar I gave them for their birthday." Chuckled Twilight. "Yea yea, I guess it wasn't so lame after all." Dash admitted looking around. "Look it! It's a flashy thing!" Shouted Pinkie, who was currently observing a small flashing light that was partly covered by a piece of the ship. The rest of them cautiously approached Pinkie and the flashing light. It was a bright neon red. Twilight began to remove the piece of metal, and with a grunt, the melted hull of the ship flew off a couple feet away. Whatever it was, it was like nothing the six had ever seen. And suddenly the red light flashed green and the glass part lit up with a bipedal creature talking, "Ah, this is lab test number three forty-five, and specimen codename thirteen, is coming out." The odd creature said, the group gasped as the screen panned over to another creature, that was held in place by metal bindings. The creature was screaming and writhing in agony, trying desperately to escape his fate. All the six had their own reactions, Twilights of shock, Rarity's of disgust, Rainbows of almost... Curiosity, Fluttershy was crying at its suffering, AppleJack was horrified, And Pinkie tried ignoring it. Suddenly something exploded forth from the creatures chest, ending his cries of pain. And a snake like creature slithered from his chest, and emitted a cry of what they had heard before. It was a baby thing of what they had encountered! "Beautiful specimen, isn't it?" Asked the creature putting his hand to the glass, the baby creature looking like it wanted to bite each of his... Claws off? They weren't sharp... But weren't exactly... Eh it didn't matter. The group watched in horror as the creature signed off, but before it did, it said one thing that Everypony disagreed with, "Weyland Yutani, Building better worlds." "Better worlds?!" Twilight shrieked, angry, "Who would do something like that! That's murder!" Shouted Twilight stomping her hoof, "Ah reckon it's one of those crazy science cooks who believe everything else come after their work. Ah knew somepony like that." AppleJack growled in disgust, "Yea! Whatever that thing is, isn't cool!" Shouted Dash trying to get the image of the mans chest opened up out of her head. It was just horrifying. Each of the six put forth their disgust, then they all proceeded to recollect themselves, "So whatever it is... Isn't from around here... So it is an alien!" Shouted Pinkie triumphantly, before falling over and disappearing from existence, before appearing next to Twilight. "Yes, we could say that... We need to warn Everypony before it can reach the town." Said Twilight looking back at her friends, and so, with great haste the six began to run back to town. To reach it before the creature got there. But what Everypony failed to notice, was that Twilight grabbed the thing that had shown them the horrors and truth. Running through the forest at nearly three AM wasn't a personal dream of any of the six, but here they were. Needing to warn Everpony of a monster, and then stop that monster like always... Right? The image of the creature dying by a company supposedly called 'Weyland Yutani' fresh in their minds. It wasn't a pleasant thought. Twilight was lucky the others hadn't noticed her snatch up the strange alien object, not knowing if they would approve. She needed to check if as soon as they got back. They needed every last piece of knowledge they could have against the foe they faced. Black hissed, hopelessly lost in the snowy forest. Growling in frustration, Black began to stomp in a different direction, some foreign hope dragging him to try to get somewhere near a victim. Hissing Black begrudgingly stomped towards where his instincts told him to go. Nothing, just like every other time. He screamed in frustration, before stomping back into the tree line away from the clearing. It was t really a clearing, as it was filled with snow... But you know. The howling of the wind did relax Black however, his screech lowering into a barely audible hiss. Blacks saliva flow had reduced itself to tiny drops, which pattered against the cold blanket of snow below where Black stomped. It was hopeless, Black had no hive, Queen, or sense of direction. Black was just confused, his free will causing him to think more. Most Xenomorphs were controlled by a all knowing queen. He was born with free will, allowing him to act off of instinct. It just made him a smarter more efficient killer. That was also the downside. His intelligence was also his enemy, he was starting to realize that without a queen, and without the ability to molt, he would only become more hopelessly lost. He couldn't accept it, he would't give in. Roaring once more, Black stormed off. Every step Black took, silenced yet another area of the forest. All the creatures feared him. That's what he wanted, yes fear made him stronger. Hissing, a very common thing his race often did, he stood still for a few fleeting seconds. Before he continued his journey. Ch3: Evolutionarily perfected, an absolute killing machine! When Twilight and her friends made it back to town, their first priority wasn't to get warm, but to notify the princesses as soon as possible. This entailed, keeping the town calm, making sure Everypony was safe, and protecting the town from that.... Abomination! Twilight burst through the door with no hesitation, snow falling into the treehouse, deciding not telling Spike was the best course of action she immediately grabbed the paper and ink quill. Sloppily writing down what had happened, Twilight realized she needed to ask Spike to send it. And he was curious, more than likely going to want to read it. "Ah hay." Twilight cursed under her breath, rolling it up. Taking a deep breath she went to wake up Spike, still cold as she walked up the stairs, "Spike!" She called out. A small yawn was heard, before a frustrated groan and a moan of protest, "Spike?" "Yes Twilight?" The baby drake grumbled, rubbing his eyes, and sitting up, "Is it morning all ready?" He asked almost grumpily, "No I just need you to send this." Said Twilight motioning towards the letter she had, being tired Spike didn't think much of it and just wanted to get back to bed. Complying he sent it, before slamming back down into a sleep. Twilight grinned, that had been easy enough. Removing the device she had claimed earlier, she crept into a secluded room. She had naught an idea what horrors lay in wait.... Berry punch danced on the outskirts of town, drunk as all hell. She was trying to sing something. But all that came out was unintelligible mumbles, and a bit of ear rape. Non the less, she was drunk and her decision making was worse than usual. Consuming more of her drink she practically toppled over. Suddenly she heard a thump. Stopping her dancing, she tried to analyze the sound further, but was stopped by the sound of her dropping her glass. Cursing she reached to down to try to grab her broken glass. She was drunk, and didn't realize the glass had shattered. Cutting herself she let out a small yelp that was interrupted by a hiccup. Giving the shattered appliance a sad look before starting to sing again. She had forgot about the thump. "Can you please keep it down?!" Shouted an angered voice from one of he many thatched houses, the pony got no response so went back to bed. Berry suppressed some laughter, for an odd reason she just wanted to laugh now. Suddenly a low hiss grace her floppy ears, and she quickly turned to the source. Nothing but darkness graced her. She cocked her head to the side, not knowing what made the noise, She screamed. Nopony cared, just thinking she saw another creature of the night that startled her. Berry was gone, and the only thing that indicated where she was last, was a broken glass with a small trace of blood... Twilight gasped in shock once more, her face almost entirely green. She had seen than more than she bargained for. "And now for our next subject." Said the creature, that she had come to know as Dr. Wilchynski. Dr. Witchy ski then revealed what he so eagerly wanted to present to the camera. Twilight almost barfed at what she saw next. It was a horse, not as smart as them clearly, but still. Something that resembled them so closely hurt her more. How did this doctor think he was helping anyone? It just didn't compute or click with Twilight. She cringed as the equine cried out in pain, and suddenly it let out its final neigh, before a much larger creature feel onto the floor, "Oh well.... That's all the time we have for today. See you tommorow. Weyland Yutani, building better worlds." Dr. Wilchynski said before stopping the recording. Twilight almost shed a tear. Whoever that man was, he deserved a painful death. She grimaced before hiding it away. She had learned many things, things that she needed to know. Along with things she didn't want to know. Deciding she'd need some rest, she warily headed to her room. She plopped spoon on her bed, the humdrum nature now gone once more, and soon she drifted into a deep sleep knowing that Nopony would be hurt by that thing..... She was dead wrong.... Black dragged his victim to the shadows, her cries forever silenced. He let out a low hiss, tossing the body into the snow. His caution had risen after the first encounter, and sunlight now was his main enemy. His instincts told him to kill them all now, while they were venerable. What was the fun in that? He had no queen, and HAD free will. He would toy with them, kill them slowly. Then he would move on. Berry's body was already covered in frost, and was almost lost in the continuous snow. Black hissed, returning to his home in the forest. Searching for a few minutes, he found a good place to lay dormant. Letting out a low hiss, Black sat in the shadow of the crevice. He was invisible to anything passing by, and sooner or later they would come, and regret it. Not to mention he had seen a small cottage not to far away, perhaps his next victim lay there... Twilight woke with a start, sweating profusely. She wiped her brow, and used her magic to float over her glass of water. She'd retrieved it about an hour after trying to go to bed, it soothed her nerves. Getting up, she decided getting the girls and telling the town while setting up defenses was the best option. She just needed to make sure the town didn't run and panic like headless chickens. She sighed. Why did she have to watch any of what she did? It still sickened her. She still worried about what lurked outside, in wait, one with the shadows. She sighed again, it felt so dragged out... With her calculation it should be reached town by now. Maybe it went another way? Either way it needed to be subdued, and Twilight knew it. Growling to herself she started down the stairs, she could tell Spike was already up. As the sweet aroma of pancakes emanated from the kitchen. Twilight sighed, she was hungry. Fluttershy fed her animals, the creature still fresh in her mind. She wanted to hide from just the thought of the giant. It looked like it could stare down a dragon without so much as a flinch. Trying to relax, she began to whisper to herself, "It's ok Fluttershy, that big, scary, mean monster is gone..." She said to herself. The butter Pegasus reassured herself for the entire time of feeding her animals, trying to keep from having yet another anxiety attack. She walked inside, before plopping down on the couch, and smiling. Everything was going to be fine... Right? She hoped so, and suddenly her favorite bunny Angel came hopping up. She smiled once more and finally was able to fully relax... Ch4: Enter Dr. WilchynskiRarity moved swiftly through the room, grabbing all of her supplies and such. After she had seen the horrid thing... Not to mention the video, she had just wanted her traumatized mind off it. In only a few short hours she had designed three different dresses, and was now making them. But, no matter how hard she tried, the thing kept popping up in her mind. It was haunting her in its own way. She shook her head in disapproval and stopped moving when she remembered the creature explaining what was going to happen to his friend, and then it happened. Her face was a sickly green by the time the now burnt in memory took its course. "I'll be fine, I just need to stop worrying about tha-" Rarity didn't get to finish, as a loud knock at the door was heard, "Coming Darling!" She shouted putting her tools down on the table. Walking over to the door, she opened it, "Oh Twilight darling you look terrible, come in." Said Rarity smiling at her drowsy looking friend. Twilight walked in, bags under her eyes, "Rarity, we need to talk. I haven't told the others yet, right now I just need to get this off my chest." Said Twilight looking up, her face unexplainable. "Yes darling? Is it about that... Thing?" Rarity asked sheepishly, still sickened by it. Twilight nodded, "It's also about that... Doctor. Listen, after we started to head back to town I took that device. I didn't tell anypony, because I thought you would all disapprove. I watched the rest of it last night, I-I..." Twilight paused, looking Rarity strait in the eyes, "That creature, is-is a parasite of sorts. And it kills anything in its path, I'm just waiting to hear back from princess Celestia. After we tell the others, we're going to hunt that thing down and stop it." Twilight finally finished, determination clear on her face along with a mixture of fear that she was so desperately trying to hide. "Well... Right darling, go tell the others. The faster we can stop that monster the faster things can go back to normal." Said Rarity approving. Together they had faced many trials and tribulations, and had faced some of the greatest threats known to Equestria. But they had never dealt with something that was so willing to kill, never dealt with something that's sole purpose was to kill. It was scary to think on that night they found it, it could of easily killed them all. Twilight left only a minute later, her mind set on one thing. To stop the creature. "Berry? Hello!" Pinkie asked once more, knocking on the door for at least the thousandth time. Ever since she had found out Berry was an alcoholic, she had sworn to help. And it was another thing to keep that big, mean, scary, ugly monster out of her head. It was cold outside, and she wanted in. Cocking her head to the side she figured Berry was either passed out, or doing something. Or maybe Pinkie had made some progress, and Berry was out doing something sober. Pinkie liked the latter idea best. Sighing she decided heading back to Sugar Cube corner was the best option. Turning away she began to bounce back, humming a quiet toon. The snow on her hooves cool. "Ouch!" Pinkie shouted immediately retracting one of her hooves from the snow. She had stepped on something, lifting her hoof up, it was a small shard of glass. Frowning Pinkie cringed as she removed it. It was only a small piece so it didn't hurt to much to remove. Looking at where she stepped on it, it was Berry's favorite glass. "Did I make myself not clear lieutenant?" Asked Dr. Wilchynski sternly, his arms folded behind his back. "It's not like we could just board the ship! Your a insane-" The lieutenant didn't get to finish as Dr. Wilchynski spun around, his face plastered with anger. "I SAID DID I NOT MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?!" He roared looming over the lieutenant, hatred and malice in his eyes. The lieutenant gulped, knowing that the doctor was well respected and it wasn't wise to not listen, "I want that specimen." He paused, "And I want it NOW." Dr. Wilchynski finished turning away, his white lab coat blinding in the bright light. The lieutenant grimaced, and almost spat in digsust, he was crazy! He was a typical only cares about work scientist. He was very lanky, with brown hair that lead to sideburns, which lead to a nice bushy beard that was nicely combed. "I-I'll get my squad together as soon as possible, then we'll head ou-" The lieutenant was cut off once more, "We're going today, Lieutenant. I know your name Jonas, and I could easily have you suspended. So it would be wise to not argue." Said Dr. Wilchynski calmly, looking out the elevator window. Jonas, the lieutenant, nodded hesitantly. Once they reached the ground floor, Dr. Wilchynski walked right out and headed to his lab, "Lights on." He said without looking at the switch once. With a slight flicker, the lights turned on. Walking over to a large computer. Tapping a few buttons, a small light flickered onto the screen. It began to pulse, then the whole screen flickered to life. It showed a model of a planet looking much like earth, but a little smaller. Keeping his face emotionless, he tapped a few more buttons and the planet spun around to show the pulsating light once more, "So one of my logs wasn't destroyed?" He asked himself aloud, "Well that makes my job a little better, knowing I can at least collect something those colonial brutes haven't destroyed." Dr. Wilchynski said, allowing himself a slight grin. Suddenly with a hiss, he heard his lab door open, "Yes?" He asked, not facing the person who entered. "My squad ready for deployment." Said lieutenant Jonas, not looking to happy about it. Dr. Wilchynski turned around and gave a warm smile, "I'll be with you in a minute." He said, and with that, lieutenant Jonas left the room. Grabbing a leather bag that went over his left shoulder, Dr. Wilchynski opened a drawer to his right. Inside was a revolver, one he had saved for such a situation. Grabbing it, he tucked it into the bag. Turning and walking out of the lab, he shut the door and pulled out his keycard locking it. The lights inside dimmed, and flickered out. Turning around once more, he began to head to the dropship where the lieutenant and his squadron resided. Not allowing himself to waste another second, he boarded without a word. The ship started its engines with a rumble, roaring to life as the hanger door began to open up. Lifting off he ground, the dropship began to head out to space. Nothing was said as the craft traversed space, and within three hours the planet came into view. Dr. Wilchynski had no idea how much trouble it would give him. Breaking the silence, one of the soldiers spoke up, "So why the hell are we going there again?" He asked as he chewed his toothpick. The doctor was to answer, "Something you tiny brain wouldn't be able to comprehend, it would be wise to hold your tongue." He spat angrily, pulling out a small modified device. "Hey! I was just askin!" Shouted the solider angrily, getting upset with the doctors answer. "Typical." Said Wilchynski not looking up from his tablet of sorts. The lieutenant looked at his brother in arms, his expression screaming, 'Do as he says.' Hesitantly, the solider quieted down. Soon enough they were ready to enter the planets atmosphere, and they did just that.
PrologueThe silent hum of an engine was the only noise audible in the small space, aside from the silent tapping of footsteps against the grated metal floor.
