Ah yes, my most loyal and faithful companion. How are you doing right now?
My name is Princess Lunar Eclipse, although most ponies tend to know me by my nickname, Luna. Many a moon ago, in an age long since past, I was a proud Alicorn. I ruled alongside my sister, Cestial Body, (though I have always been calling her Celestia), and times were good; We ruled together, our subjects brought to peace through our watchful and benevolent eyes. We tried kept the evil away, and we tried to keep goodness within the borders and within ourselves.
Emphasis on tried.
But... as with all good things, it could not last. Peace gave way to war as jealousy tor my heart asunder, casting me to madness, and my body into the cold embrace of a demon; Most call her Nightmare Moon. She possessed my body, imprisoned my mind, and she tried to destroy all that and I and my sister had worked for thus far. The Castle of the Ever Free was destroyed in the battle, and I was exiled to the moon, never to know another pony again.
This is where I am now. Strange isn't it? How a little jealousy and anger could spiral out of control, to where demons and devils could possess an alicorn, and to where a fool such as myself could be imprisoned on the very thing that I wanted to be loved. My moon and my night were what I held dearest, (aside from sister dearest, of course), and now they are the very things keeping me tied down, keeping me imprisoned with myself and my demon.
Oh, irony; she is a cruel and evil wench.
But I shall let irony know that she can not break my spirit! I've been here for...
...
... I-I don't know how long, really...
But that's not that point! I have not given up hope yet! Any da- Any time now, and I shall be freed once more! When that happens, I know my sister will know how to fix me. My sister, of course, is much better and stronger than I when it comes to magic, so she would be surely able to set me free from and away from Nightmare after all this time. My sister was always wise and strong, she could think of anything. I she can cure me, because, well...
... She always did.
I'm worried, though. Worried that a madmare will overthrow my sister. That some evil ponies will stone my sister in public. That they'll throw in a stockade for all to see, forcing ponies on my sister as they beat her with sticks and stones and... other things...
I need to pull myself together.
Excuse that rather... obscene excuse for a possibility: I've often not been able to hold my thoughts together as of late. They tend to run off without me. Do you know? You just sit there, and then... you're thinking about nothing, and then there's you're meaning, and then there goes you're head. It's simple, really. Just goes off without me. I'm sure you understand.
Ah, well, I do love the strong silent type. All the better for me to talk to. No way to judge, no. All you do is listen.
Just listen.
In other news, the Nightmare just told me that our sentence is almost over! Just another nine-hundred-and-ninety-five years until we're all free. Don't worry, I'll bring you with me. I'd never be able to leave you behind. How could I? You are my best friend! Don't think those horrible things!
Please!
...
Right, you can't...
Well, whatever the case, I'm sure my sister will fix me. Can't have her sister talking to stones, now can she? Ah yes, my sister could fix me. She would look down on me with a stern face, anger in her crazed, bloodshot eyes. She would take her own two hoofs and beat the evil thoughts out of my head. She would break my horn and my wings to keep me from escaping, before smashing my head in with all her might. Blood cells and brain matter would splatter the tiled floors of her brand new mountain castle, and she would set my body aflame with righteous fury. She'd smile and snicker, laugh and jeer, and she'd hold a feast of my body for all the little ponies, just to celebrate my getting better.
And I would be eternally greatful.
As for the Nightmare, however?
The Nightmare is something I'm just going to have to deal with. Luckily enough, she hasn't been talking all that much since that day I was banished. Just between you and me, I'm not quite sure who told me how far along into exile we were, I just know that I heard someone. Perhaps it was instinct. Yes, that's all it was. Just instinct.
And even if it wasn't, it surely isn't anything my sister can't cure.
I know what you're thinking, but I would never selfishly take my own life! That would be a waste! Think of all the furniture they'd have to replace after my bloodied body collapsed, bleeding from every hole that I had put inside of me! That would be a waste of furniture. And besides...
... I'm saving the honour of killing me for my sister.
As it stands I'm just going to sit here on the moon, talking to you. Who are you, anyways? You never speak, and yet you are always there to lean on, rock solid and comforting. It's like you hardly exist at all. That, though, would be preposterous. Why would I be talking to something that isn't real? That would be like fighting against my sister's own loving strikes!
Oh well.
I wonder what nine-hundred-and-ninety-five years will do to me.
