The Crystal Empire had a reputation for being one of the most loving and pleasant kingdoms in the entire world. The citizens were caring and open-minded, the borders were protected from potential threats, and the rulers were always beloved and respected leaders.However, no kingdom is made entirely perfect, and the Crystal Empire was no exception.

While the king was admired and respected by his citizens, both of his siblings held a very different opinion of him, each holding malice and envy in their hearts. One abandoned her family to become ruler of another kingdom, whose subjects needed her and her love magic, and where she would be respected for her amazing magical abilities instead of feared. The other's thirst for knowledge led him to explore–and break–the laws of magic and nature, eventually causing him to spiral down into a dark place from which nopony has ever left unchanged.

This is a story about how a toxic sibling relationship, dangerous curiosity, and a bit of dark magic created the monster known as King Sombra.
