"No I'm just saying that I care too much about who you are to care who you are." Rainbow Dash was driving home after a night of partying with Pinkie Pie. They were in Rainbow's car which was a blue convertible that had been souped up. They were blasting music and talking.
"What?" Pinkie was more than a little intoxicated.
"I wouldn't care if Soarin was the biggest asshole on the planet. Honestly he probably is a huge jerk. The fact that he's a wonderbolt out-ways any negative quality he might have."
"That is not even a true sentence." Pinkie took a drink from a bottle she had in her purse.
"Absolutely it's true. Say anything that might be a deal breaker for you, and I guarantee I would still do him."
"What if he fucks dogs? Oh! Or what if he hates your rainbow hair?"
"Not a problem."
"You're crazy! R-rainbow you're like a big rainbow haired idiot." Pinkie started giggling hysterically. "I can't. I can't see my eyes."
Rainbow laughed, "Are you high too?"
Pinkie didn't say anything so rainbow glanced over at her friend.
Pinkie was asleep now. She was snoring with her head tilted back and her mouth open. Rainbow laughed and took a picture with her phone.
Rainbow drove Pinkie home and tried to wake her up, but she was out. Rainbow carried her inside and put her to bed before going home.
Rainbow got inside and into her room before collapsing onto her bed. Who the fuck goes drinking on a Sunday night? Rainbow looked at her clock. 3:23 AM. Well I guess technically it's Monday morning now.
Rainbow sent Pinkie the picture of her and went to sleep.
When Rainbow woke up her alarm clock was blaring and the sign was shinning through her window. "Ow. fuck." Rainbow covered her eyes with her arm. She had only slept four hours before having to wake up to get to work.
Rainbow got up, opened her closet and picked out her outfit for the day. She set them out on her bed and got into the shower. As she stared at the white shower wall she started to drift off even though she was standing. She put her arm out in front of her so she wouldn't fall on her face and closed her eyes. The soothing sounds of the water hitting her and the warm sensation of the water made her even more tired. She was only half awake when she heard the sound of glass breaking in her living room.
The sharp sound woke her up. She quickly got out of the shower and slowly crept to the doorway of the bathroom. She slowly opened the door just enough for her to see into her hall way. She looked to the right and into her living room. There was a man who was about six feet tall and two hundred pounds. He was wearing a leather jacket and . He turned his head, and Rainbow knew he saw her. He sprinted at her, screaming like someone just murdered his family.
Rainbow quickly closed the door and locked it, but that wasn't going to stop him. The room shook as he slammed his body into the door which pretty much snapped when he hit it.
He fell onto the floor after he smashed through the door, wood splintering beneath him. Rainbow had just enough time to dodge out of the way by diving into her shower.
He stood up and produced a switchblade from his pocket. "I'm going to kill you. I'm going to Fucking kill you." He growled, as blood dripped from his face.
Rainbow screamed as he charged her with the knife. She ducked out of the way and landed outside the shower again just in time for the knife to miss her head. She started to crawl backwards as he recovered.
Rainbow was about to get up and make a mad dash out of the room when she felt a sharp piece of wood that came off the door with her right hand. He lunged forward and she protected her body with her arm.
Rainbow felt a huge pain explode in her left arm as the knife sunk into her skin. She felt a sickening pop as the force behind the knife fractured her bone. She felt the full wait of him behind the knife as he fell on her pinning her to the floor. He sat up-right, straddling her and tried to pull the knife out of her arm to finish her off.
Rainbow was now in shock and only stared up at him as he yanked on the knife over and over, trying desperately to dislodge the knife from her body.
Rainbow looked up and saw the blood pouring from her arm like a faucet. She saw the rage in his eyes as he yanked her arm around like it was a piece of meat. She looked into his eyes as he gave up on the knife and instead decided to start choking her.
Rainbow felt his hands wrap around her neck and squeeze as he tried desperately to kill her. Rainbow gripped the wooden stake in her hand and stabbed at his neck, the wood made a scrape against his skin, but it didn't slow him down.
Rainbow felt her vision fading as her oxygen was being depleted. She stabbed at him again, this time she hit her mark, he stopped choking her and his eyes went wide as he felt the wood penetrate his neck. He gasped and choked on his own blood as he shuddered. His hands went to the wood as he felt his life forces draining.
Rainbow just stared up in horror as he bled to death on top of her.
He fell face first onto her and went limp as he died.
Rainbow pushed him off of her with her good arm and coughed as she sat in pure shock over the horrible events that just took place in front of her. She sat up and just cried on the floor, her face stained with blood and tears.
-One year later-
Rainbow woke up from a nightmare again, at this point it was more of a formality. She sat up with tears still in her eyes. It had been over a year since the random attack in her own home. Since then she had moved out and tried to just forget about the traumatic experience but the image of his face when she killed him never left her mind.
Rainbow got up. despite every part of her wanting to just lay in bed, but she knew better than anyone that you can't just sit around in sulk. She opened her drawer to gather her clothes when she caught a glimpse of the scare on her arm. It was about five inches long down her forearm and jagged. Everyone said it was lucky that she survived, but she didn't feel very lucky. Every day she felt like she should have died that day, and it would have been better if he would have just killed her.
Rainbow took a shower and got dressed, her anxiety was at it's peek when she was in a bathroom. She always took five minute showers and tried to get out as fast as possible. She got out of the bathroom and got dressed in about ten minutes. She went into the kitchen to get breakfast when she remembered she had to take her pills. She always had the bottles on her counter, so she wouldn't forget. She had to take anti-depressants, anti-anxiety and several other pills to keep her from loosing her mind. She had seen several psychiatrists and they all said the same thing, she had PTSD. She thought a lot about her situation, and what happened. A lot of worse things have happened to better people so what made her so special? Some people can kill and not feel a thing, but Rainbow was not one of those people, she had too much empathy, and too much love in her heart.
Rainbow took her pills and made a bowl of cereal. She got her phone and wallet and headed out the door, she had thirty more minutes before she had to be at work.
` Rainbow Dash walked up to her mailbox and opened it, pulling out three envelopes. Two of them were bills but one was a letter with no markings on it at all. She opened it and read it.
You have been hired, go to the corner of Fern RD and Celeste ST for further instructions.
She folded the paper and put it in her pocket, it was probably just a prank or something but she decided to stop by anyways since it was on the way to work, but she couldn't shake an eerie feeling she got from the vagueness of the note.
When she got to the corner there was no one there. The street corner had an abandoned warehouse on one side and a run down residential area on the other. She parked in the warehouse parking lot and got out. On the actual corner, about 5 yards from the curb there was a green steal box in the grass with a note on the top. She walked up and read the note, "For Rainbow Dash". She opened it and inside was an open flip phone, a hand gun fit with a sound suppressor and a picture of a middle aged man with a bald spot and a creepy mustache on it.
Now she was freaking out. Her hands were shaking as she picked up the phone and put it to her ear. A mans voice came from the phone, it was deep and quiet, almost like a narrator for a documentary, "We have seen your ability and we have determined it. You have been hired, kill the man in the photo his address is on the back. If you do not comply, you will be killed."
"Wait, who is this?" Rainbow had a lot of questions but the man hung up before she could ask. She looked at the call history on the phone but there was only one call, and it was listed as a private number. She closed the phone and put it in the box and left. All of a sudden that eerie feeling in her stomach had turned into a sickness as the seriousness of her situation sunk in. She went home instead of going to work and called in sick.
When she got inside she opened the box again and took out the gun. It was a real gun and the bullets were real, there was a clear scratch mark on it from when the serial number had been filed off. She knew how to shoot a gun, her uncle would always take her shooting when she was a kid so she knew everything she needed. She took out the magazine and took out the bullets. She counted fifteen rounds plus one in the chamber.
She put the gun down on her coffee table and sat down on her couch, when the phone rang, it was another private number. She answered it again, this time speaking first, "Who the fuck is this?" She asked, with anger clear in her voice. She was not going to let them hang up again without answering her questions.
"We are a company that does favors for other people, you were picked from a lineup of lucky candidates to carry out our tasks. We will be paying you a large sum of money if you complete the task. If not, we kill you and your friends." The same man from before answered, it was just as cold and calculating as before.
"No, no I can't kill again, please, why are you making me do this?".If it was just her she could have just died, but she had to do it for her friends. She knew she was going to have to do this, but the horrible reality made her feel like Dying.
"Well this is mostly a test, your target is a low value, low priority one, and we want to see what you're capable of. If you do well, we'll hire you for more jobs and we can work our way up from there."
"Bu-" She was cut off by the man on the other end.
"Finish by 0300 hours, make it quick, we want you gone by the time the clean up crew arrives. Collect your brass." And with that, he hung up again.
Rainbow threw the phone against the wall. She had to do this, or her friends could get hurt, or worse, killed. She felt so angry, "Who the fuck are they to make me do this? I'm not theirs to tell what to do." She felt more and more angry the more she thought about it. She had a plan. She was going to do all of this, and the first chance she got she was going to take the fuckers out.
She got up and went to the kitchen, grabbing a wash cloth, a plastic bag and utility gloves. She wiped the gun, magazine and bullets with the cloth to remove her finger prints. From now on she only handled the gun with gloves. She went into her study and shredded the instruction note and burned the picture after memorizing the address. She had sixteen hours to get everything ready. No more tears, she had to be strong.
She drove over to the house of the target and staked it out. He lived alone, and he was seemingly unemployed. He sat on his porch and smoked most of the time, as far as she could tell.
She drove home after watching him for 10 hours and started forming a plan in her mind. When She got home she sat in the living room thinking up her plan. She could wake him up with the door bell and just shoot him when he opens the door. The idea made her sick, but it was the least personal and probably the easiest route.
She sat in her living room staring at the gun on her table for hours, thinking of all the scenarios that could play out. She took her watch off of her wrist and looked at it. 2 hours left.
She put on her gloves and put the gun in the plastic bag. The Idea is that the bag will catch the shell and any gun powder residue. The bag was big enough that hopefully there would be enough room for the slide to go back without just putting a hole in the bag. She had seen it in a movie, and read somewhere that it actually works well for stopping the shells from being scattered somewhere that the cops could just find later.
She looked at her watch and put it into her left hoodie pocket, one hour left, she had enough time. She zip locked the bag around her hand and put a rubber band around her wrist, right above where the glove stopped to secure the bag in place. She double check to make sure a round was in the chamber and the safety was off.
She drove to the place with one hand on the wheel, and the other in her gun-bag. She got out and put her hand in her hoodie pocket and walked up to the door. The lights were on and she could hear a TV going in the living room. She noticed a peep-hole on the door. She looked at the watch she had put in her pocket.
2:58 AM. She rang the door bell and put the gun up to the peep-hole.
2:59 AM. She heard foot steps slowly make there way to the door and stop on the other side.
The second after she heard the foot steps stop she pulled the trigger.
The gun made more of a snap than a bang because of the suppressor and she heard a thud from the other side of the door. She looked through the bullet hole she made where the peep-hole used to be and saw blood pooling on the living room floor.
She had almost hoped that she hadn't killed him and he was just scared sitting on the floor wondering what the hell just happened, but she knew that she had done it. She tasted bile and she wanted to vomit, but she held it. It would be bad to leave a pile of bodily fluids at the crime scene for the cops to find. She dusted the area where the peep-hole was in case an eyelash fell off, and left. She got in her car, took her hand out of the glove and closed the zip lock. She drove off before someone woke up and called the cops.
On the way home she broke down and cried the whole way back. When she got inside she put the gun-bag in the metal box and put it under her bed. She just laid in bed and cried for hours and when she looked at her clock again it was 5:30 AM. She had run out of tears, and now she just felt numb.
She saved her and her friends, but she had killed again. It was the worst feeling in the world.
She fell asleep just trying not to think about it.
