I am quite an experienced thief at this point in time and due to this, I fear I cannot reveal my identity, however I may tell you my alias so you may know me at least slightly better. I am known to the authorities as the 'Black Chameleon' as I operate in complete darkness and can seemingly vanish instantly vanish. Luckily for me, due to this they suspect a unicorn, which I find quite comical for I am merely an intelligent Pegasus. I am a phantom thief, one who steals from the rich not for personal gain but for my own excitement. I am quite a wealthy sort, even before I started this business, but my life had become so monotonous that I had to think of a way to entertain myself, and the thrill of stealing against the odds gives such an adrenaline rush for me. After the first few, I had started sending a calling card, raise the stakes as it were.
I suppose I have gone on long enough about myself and I know you have come here to hear about my first heist.
The weather was quite clear as I walked up towards the home of a rather unpopular unicorn couple, Jet Set and Upper Crust specifically. It was quite a bad choice on my part, I admit looking back as they were quite rich and no doubt had high security. I found a bit of fence covered by foliage, large trees on the other side so the inhabitants could not see me from a distance.
I grabbed onto the fence and pulled myself up, using my wings to give me an extra push up and over. No doubt they had protections against unicorns as it would have been simple to just teleport inside. This was the reason I climbed over instead of flying as if I climbed over, it would seem to be an earth pony or pegasi's doing. Either way, I landed on the other side and pushed myself between two trees, looking out over the yard leading up towards the mansion. Nothing. This was too easy, unless they had all of their defences inside. I crouched next to the chest-high wall which housed the fence on top and moved towards the mansion.
The door was rather large and ornate, unsurprisingly, with a large rope to ring the bell inside. Looking over the walls, there was not that many windows. Moving around the side of the building,there was one open window. It had frosted glass, so I can only assume that it was for the bathroom. Looking around, there were some places where I could fit my hands into. Of course, I could fly, but my aforementioned evidence planning meant if I flew up there, it was obviously a Pegasus who had done the deed. So I put my feet into the lowest gaps in the brickwork. I escalated for roughly three or four minutes before I reached the window. Luckily my figure was rather lithe so I could slip in much easier than other ponies. I landed rather quietly and moved towards the door, opening it. I was on top of a large staircase, a passageway going off to my left and many paintings hung up on the wall. I scouted around for a very short while, deciding to take the paintings I had seen when I had first entered the passageway, if only because I heard someone stirring, probably one of the two I had decided to rob as it was obviously coming from an adult, or at least someone in their late teens. Moving down the passageway to my escape window, I took a few of the paintings off of the wall and pinned a small note onto the wall, saying 'Thank you for the paintings' and sneaking towards the bathroom. Climbing on top of the toilet, I leaped out of the window and used my wings for a landing as I was in a hurry. I ran down the side of the yard once more, hiding in the trees and watching as the lights on the top floor of the house got switched on.
The aftermath of this heist was rather positive away from the authorities. I had brought up the topic with a few friends in a restaurant I went to quite often after the story had been put into the local papers. No pony really liked Upper Crust or Jet Set and so made jokes that the thief should strike again. I had not received an alias at this point, it had first surfaced after I had started sending calling cards.
After this heist, I had robbed many wealthy ponies, including a few that were actually popular in the public perception, such as Fleur-de-Lis the model or Fancy Pants. These were only because the security in the ones not liked so much had increased due to fear after roughly the third heist, after a pattern started emerging. I feel slight remorse for those I had robbed whom did not seem to deserve it, but now I have started anonymously donating money and treasures to the poor, whom seemed to believe rightly it was me for news spread of those very same treasures having been stolen after they had received it, but even turning them in wouldn't help for I always were gloves on the job. As I stated before, they believe I am a unicorn as my actions seemed to fit a unicorn or earth pony and the sudden disappearances seemed to fit a unicorn, which is proof that my earlier actions had payed off. I am currently in the planning stages of a later heist, which is for a location I shall disclose in future, but until that time, I suppose I could share more stories of mine with you at a later date, and if you turn me in to the authorities, just let me say it is not going to be difficult for me to find you as you are receiving this story.
