After a massive storm runs across the state of California, the famous Cajon Pass requires inspection before allowing freight to pass through once again. This is where rookie engineer Nathan Bridgeport wants to prove that he has what it takes to make this job a career.

Little does he know what lies in wait for him and his locomotive on the other side of the San Gabriel Mountains.
