%1% The Arrival of Wonder
How did I get like this? Oh wait I know, Him, but I suppose I'd best tell you guys how I got here...
Flashback: London, 2023 years earlier
"Rob! Hurry up or we'll be late!"
"Fine, fine don't rush me!" I called back, seriously the conventiongoers I hang out with. I'd just put the finishing touches on my, admittedly lacklustre North costume, North being one of the protagonist from the movie Rise of the Guardians. to be perfectly honest I hadn't that done good of a job, I was missing the swords and My beard wasn't up to snuff but apart from that It looked rather good.
I slipped the cloak on , applied the beard and hat and stepped out.
"Pttfffhhahaha! Dude! You look ridiculous!"
"Coming from you, mate, that's a compliment." I said looking Brad up and down. He was, I shit you not, dressed up as Applejack from that stupid Equestria Girls movie. It really didn't suit him.
"Will you two quit it!" said the girl in the Maleficent costume, Kali was the one of the only people in our group with common sense, which tells you everything you need to know about her.
"Kali's right, we should get going." Said Callum, he wasn't wearing some a costume.
"Okay then, shall we?" I said.
We arrived at the convention hall, it was heaving, people were cosplaying everything you could imagine, and I do mean everything.
"Alright you three, remember the plan; we'll be heading back to our hotel rooms around 8PM, if you feel off find me or Callum and well make our way to one of the coffee shops and stay there, that includes you Robert." she said staring pointedly at me.
"Okay, I got that, don't worry." I said
"And if you get sent to a land of technicolor ponies, don't panic." Brad added
"Dude, those stories circulating online are just that, stories. Well be fine." I countered with disdainful expression.
We made our way mingling into the crowds, I went one way at a fast walk.
"Hey! Buddy! I got something you might like." came a voice to my right.
I turned an there was a stall being run by someone dressed as the Merchant from Resident Evil 4.
"Hey dude cool costume." I said, trying to be polite.
"Yours is pretty sweet too mate, North is it?" he replied.
"Yeah it's the best I could do on such short notice." I said "Say you said you had something I might be interested in, didn't you?"
"In fact I do." He turned and produced a belt with two scabbards affixed to it, in those scabbards where the two Sabers North used.
"Whoa, how much for these?" I asked eagerly.
"£25." he proclaimed smartly, I handed him the cash and tried the belt on, it fit snugly.
"Thanks. How much did it cost to make this replica?" I turned to him but he was gone.
"Huh, that was weird, I wonder where he-" Was all I managed to get out and then everything went black.
???, Unknown Forest
Ugh My head, what the hell happened to me?
I came to in dappled sunlight rubbing my forehead, the first thing I noted when my vision cleared was how wide across my hand was, and when I looked at my it I saw that tattooed across my forearm was the word 'Naughty', Further inspection on my part revealed I had the word 'Nice' tattooed across my other arm and when I pulled at my beard it hurt. finally I got enough coordination to get myself to a pool of water where I saw the face of North staring back at me in perfect detail.
"Oh Borscht" I said.
It was at that point that an ear-piercing scream cut through the woods to my left. I turned grabbing my hat from where it had landed and headed towards the sound, when I got to where the sound was coming from, it was surprised by what I saw. A pair of small Ponies, one with a white coat and pink mane the other much younger one perched on her back had a dark blue coat and mane of ethereal blue, where surrounded by a pack of 5, strangely, wooden wolves.
"I hang around with someone who is obsessed with Hatsune Miku, I really shouldn't be surprised by this." I muttered under my breath, then I unsheathed my swords, and charged.
My momentum caused me to hit the first Wolf like a small car and carried me into the second smashing them to splinters and logs, I brought my left sword up and neatly bisected the third wolf down the middle, when the fourth wolf took its chance to lunge a the two fillies I punched it and it went down like firewood. The fifth wolf got a bit too close to the two for comfort I brought my sword down and chopped its head off.
While I was busy making sure from a distance that the two fillies were fine, the older one shouted "LOOK OUT!" I turned just in time to see the wolves I'd dismantled reforming as a much larger entity, the new wolf let out an earthshaking howl and charged. I grabbed it's nose squarely in one hand "Zhese two are under my protection, got it!" I snarled at it, then I brought my sword down in its muzzle.
The titanic wolf started whimpering and staggering around as bits of it began to fall off, with it eventually collapsing into a pile of logs and twigs. I turned back to the two fillies and said in a much calmer voice "Are you two all right?"
"We're fine, but Luna dropped her toy train when we were running and it got smashed." the older of the two replied.
"Well, don't vorry leetle one, I'll see if I can make you a new train." I said smiling at Luna.
Her face lit up immediately "Weally!" she squeaked at me.
"Da, now close your eyes or it will ruin the wonder." i said, she did so with a smile. "No peaking now." I said turning to the pile of wood from the dead wolf.
To be honest the next bit is kinda hard to explain, the moment I looked at pile of wood, I just knew how to make a a toy train perfectly, and I did, when I reached into the folds of my cloak I came out with a miniature self contained woodcarving set, and I got to work...
"You can open your Eyes now Luna" I said later, she did and the air was filled with a gasp and squeal of glee, there in front of her was a perfectly detailed narrow gauge engine with three coaches and a guardsvan on the back, the train was painted in midnight blue and had the name 'Eclipse' written on both sides of its boiler, the Coaches and guardsvan were painted in an ethereal blue and spotted with stars.
"Thank youw!" she exclaimed, giving one of my legs a hug "It's pewfect." She then picked up Eclipse in an aura of blue magic and said "Toot-toot".
The train let out a low whistle and started floating around her head on blue rails, eliciting another gasp of wonder from her, and I felt a tingle for the arm with the word 'Nice' tattooed on it, I rolled back my sleeve and saw that two names where appearing on the arm around the tattoo in old flowing scriptCelestia & Luna
"Vell lets get you two back home , where do you live?"
I noticed celestia look up at the sun passing overhead and muttering "Lets see if the sun rises in the east and sets in the west...and our castle has two balconies to take advantage of the beauty of this, so..." she turned to me "...the castle is this way." she said pointing to the path just behind the pile of logs from the dead wolf.
"Okay, zhen lets get moving before your parents start to worry about you." Said, and with that we headed off.
We arrived at the beautifully decorated castle just as the red light of the evening was pooling around it. "Vell, here ve are." I said.
"Wait. " Celestia said turning to me "Why aren't you coming in with us?"
"Yeah." said Luna " I Weally want to show them who made Ecwipse."
"I am sorry, but your parents probably wouldn't believe enough to see me like you do." I said "And if your standing around out here you won't be in there showing them Eclipse, now, Vhill you?"
"No." she said looking sad all of a sudden.
"Good, now go inside, the less your parents worry about you the better." said holding the door open for them, they each gave me a hug before going inside, at which point I shut the door quietly behind them. and made my way back into the forest to come to terms with what had happened.
