A thousand years ago.

A thousand years. I've waited a thousand years for her return. As I walk though the badlands, dust settling on my jeans and boots, shirt long forgotten. I wonder if she remembers me? My toned, muscular physique is easily seen in the pale moonlight. My name is Night Shadow, and I was made to serve Princess Luna. I did the one thing a servant should never do,"I look up", I fell in love with the moon.

My origin is unknown to me. All I know is that I'm nocturnal, and I was to watch my charge, a young Princess Luna, as she would take venture into the Everfree Forest. I look at the stars as I remember her endless questions as a filly, "Why do you have no fur Mr. Shadow?" I look at Luna" I'm a dragon, yes I know how crazy it sounds, but I am in fact the only known nocturnal dragon. My scales are jet black. My underbelly, eyes, and the membrane of my wings are a deep purple as is my fire." Luna looks at my eyes. "Your eyes are like hers Mr. Shadow." I feel her soft fur as she grabs my hand and pulls me along. "You know your sister will be upset with both of us for you being out here at night." Luna looks scared, and I can't help but find her look of fear to be painful, but I don't know why it is. "Oh no!! Tia will be angry." I pick her up as I flap my wings, raising into the air. "Let us return Princess." That was the night I was tasked with protecting her. I was away when she became Nightmare Moon, and I stayed away from that night on....... That is until I felt the pull of her return to normal. I look at the city of Canterlot on the mountain side. I must see her.

I arrive in the throne room and find Princess Celestia. She looks shocked when she sees me walk up to her throne. "Greetings Princess Celestia". I hold her hand and gently kisses her knuckle. I look up to her. "Is Princess Luna here? I must see her." Celestia smiles her warm motherly smile. "It is good to see you Night Shadow." She   sends a guard to fetch Princess Luna. "How have you been?" I take a moment to find the correct words. "I've been wondering the world ever since her banishment." I notice Celestia's eyes shimmer faintly. " I apologize, oh great not you've brought up bad memories." I hear the doors to the throne room open, and a voice I haven't heard in a thousand years. "You have summoned us.. dear........ sister..........." I smile as I say, "Hey Lulu, it's been a long ti-" "SHADOW!!!!" I smile as Princess Luna hugs me with all her might. I hug her back as she says, "please don't leave again." I look her in the eyes with a loving smile" I'll never leave you again Luna, I promise." I lean in, and I am happy to feel her lips press against my own. I lean back after the kiss to say, "my domain is night and my love is the moon."
