Meeting Splitter

It was horrible, it was awful, it was... Not good. Those were the thoughts of Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy as they ran. They could hear the large metal boots hitting the ground behind them, and the voices of the humans. Looking back Rarity saw the red armored soldiers rushing for them, weapons risen, ready to fire. Rarity swore that if she made it, she'd never be cross with anypony ever again. Not Rainbow Dash, not Applejack, not Sweetie Belle, not Twili... Well maybe Twilight because it's her fault they're in this mess now. Fluttershy began to cry, knowing that she may never see Angel again, maybe never even see her own home, not even Ponyville, or Sugar Cube Corner, or any of her other friends. Pinkie had a look of steeled determination, after all she'd live to see those pastries again, she'd live for the cake, the fudge, the cinnamon rolls, but most of all the cupcakes, she swore this in Eqiestria's name... Or maybe she wouldn't. Their eyes widened as they realized that a large wall was in the middle of their path.

"We've almost got them!" One of the humans shouted, as they caught up and cornered the ponies. "Now I hope you're ready to die. Blam, light 'em up." The leader said, but received no response from the human he spoke to. Turning he noticed he was alone, which confused not only him, but the ponies as well. "Fine then! You goddamn deserters! I'll kill them myself!" He shouted turning to face the three cowering ponies. However they soon saw what had caused the others to disappear as something began climbing down the wall next to the human. It moved silently, despite its large size. It was almost human like, only its skin faded to purple in most locations, had two extra arms, a long spike covered tail, its fave had two large mandible like appendages that moved next to the mouth with fangs that curled upwards, apposed to being attached to it, while several jagged teeth lined the inside of its mouth and several large spikes moved down its back. Its three fingered hands and feet gripped the wall almost like a gecko, able to find any little crevice or imperfection that provided a location to dig its claws into. It let out a soft hiss, mostly to get the attention of its human prey, and the moment his eyes locked onto its, it jumped, grabbing onto his head, ripping away the helmet, knocking its weapon to the ground, its larger frame allowing it to pin the human down. Then it did something horrible. It dug the jagged fangs into the humans head, making him send out yells of pain and agony. It wasn't long before the human's head was slit in half, which was what finally made Rarity and Fluttershy faint.

Rarity slowly began to open her eyes, and take in her surroundings. She was on a bed, so that obviously meant that somepony had come and rescued her from the humans and the monster... Right? Looking to her left she saw a concrete wall, and to her right across the room was a still sleeping Fluttershy. Forcing herself to get up she began to move towards the only door in the room, and soon became aware of a singing.

"Oh, how many Infested fill my lab? How many indeed? I hope that the number stops rising now..." An echoing voice sang.

"Or I'll have to move, thats agreed." Pinkie's happy voice finished the lyric.

"But I can't leave my friends, I have to help them. By finding a cure for this disease!"

"But there's no rush after all I don't age anymore, you see."

Rarity noticed the singing stopped, and she slowly began to push open the door. First she saw Pinkie, and as it opened more she saw the monster that had killed the human, only this time it looked a bit different. It wore what appeared to be a tattered lab coat, while it held vials in all four hands and began to mix chemicals. Pinkie appeared to be organizing several of these chemicals by color, but soon looked back and smiled.

"Rarity!" She shouted, rushing over to her friend, getting the monster's attention.

"One of them is awake? Good, good! More hands... Er... Hooves to aid me in my research." The monster said, as it continued to mix and pour the various chemicals together until it became a bright and brilliant green. "Your species is an interesting one. If you had told me one hundred and forty years ago, before I was infested, that I would one day find a species of sentient ponies that speak perfect English, I would have had you enlisted into a mental facility." It said, using a rather large syringe to collect the liquid. " Your friend told me all about Pony Land or whatever it was called. I know about your Princess Celestia and your Princess Luna. I know all about your Discord, and your Sombra, and your Changelings, and your monsters and all of that. An interesting concept. Moving the sun and the moon with magic. A concept that was once thought to be myth! However I guess anything is possible. What is it like in your world? The various cities I mean. What were they? Canterlot, Appaloosa, Ponyville, Las Pegasus? That's all I can remember at the moment, I'm sure more will return." It continued to rant, until it moved towards a large door, and pushed it open, quickly disappearing behind it. Rarity was slowly starting to grasp that this creature did not mean to harm them, but this did not calm her.

"Pinkie... If you do not mind my asking... What is happening!?" Rarity asked, while the pink mare let out a giggle.

"Science! I thought all the chemicals and test-tubes and singing would give that away." Pinkie said with a large smile.

"What I meant was... Why are we here!?" Rarity asked, starting to panic.

"Well. Mr. Splitter needs our help to find a cure for the disease that makes him so scary and tall, he needs our help because as it turns out ponies are immune to this disease. When introduced to humans it makes turn purple and grows tentacles and boils and other nasty things on their faces and bodies and even controls their minds! Making them Zombie like soldiers for the alien race known as the Zerg!" Pinkie said, never once losing her smile, even preforming little actions with each part.

"Disease?" Rarity asked, but the monster re-entered the room, this time with a look of sadness.

"It's more of a virus, really. It's spread in many ways, but the most common ways are through Zerg creatures known as Infestors, contact with Infested, and finally large living structures known as Virophages. The virus has affected many, including myself." The monster said, but reached out a clawed hand. "Splitter. Skull Splitter." Rarity cautiously placed her hoof in its palm and felt its long, clawed fingers, wrap around it, giving her a sick feeling in her stomach. It released her hoof, and she found a slimy purple substance had clung to her. She quickly wiped it on a nearby towel, although it too was covered in stains and was sopping wet with what she hoped was water.

"Well Mr... Splitter..." Rarity began, trying her best to be polite and calm. "I'm afraid that the three of us don't know much about science..." She continued, and she saw Splitter frown. "Pinkie Pie is a baker, Fluttershy is an animal caretaker, and I am..." Rarity was interrupted by Splitter.

"A tailor?" It asked, and she looked at him with both shock and disgust.

"While I am no mere tailor, I do create clothing. How did you know...?" Rarity finished adding in the question.

"Pinkie told me." It replied, before turning its back to her, grabbing several test-tubes, beakers, and various other scientific tools and quickly set them into a large sink. "So what did you do to get the Dominion after you?" Splitter asked.

"The... Dominion...?" Rarity was confused by this question.

"The red armored humans... The un-infested." Splitter explained.

"Why I haven't a clue. They had been so nice before, then they mentioned someone named Arcturus Mengsk, and I informed them that we do not follow this... Mengsk." Rarity said, and Splitter began to laugh.

"That explains it! You had denied their leader as your own. They saw you against Emperor Mengsk, for if you do not follow him, then to the Dominion you are a threat." Splitter said, before beginning to hack and cough. Rarity let out a disgusted groan when he spit out a large purple glob of slime onto the floor. "Apologies. I sometimes produce this gunk." Splitter explained. It was then they heard the door open again, and they turned to see Fluttershy who had an instant look of terror. "Ah! You're awake as well. You've been out for weeks now." Splitter said, but Fluttershy made no sound, and instead slumped to the floor, having once again passed out.

Splitter clicked his mandibles before lifting her up, and gently lying her back into the bed. He was greeted with a worried Rarity.

"What was it you had said!? We've been out for how long!?" She asked, beginning to panic.

"You've been out for about three weeks...?" Splitter said, fearing that something horrible was about to happen, and he was partly right as Rarity inhaled and quickly prepared to scream.
