I am Starswirl the Bearded and this is the story of how Equestria came to be and how I played my small part. Before I was known for my most glorious beard I was just Starswirl.
It was a cool fall morning, at least it was close to morning by what the giant hourglass in my study shown me, but it was the third sunrise we had today. For the sun and the moon rose sporadically and us unicorns can't find any kind of magic to control it but that doesn’t mean we did not try. That is just the start for Equestria’s problems there is chaos and strife felling it, the earth ponies and Pegasi refuse to work together and we unicorns are not any better. We for the most part are stuck up more than our horns, but I am one of the few at this point that thinks that that we can still make something of the world.
Well back to where I was; it was early morning and I had some experiments that I had been working on to write down the results of my latest results of my light bending spell; that I have been working on to help control the day and night with refraction of light so the land can have a full cycle.
As I am starting my notes, I see a flash of light come from where the sun and the moon meet in the sky. I see what looks like the sky itself warping and funneling to the ground near an ancient forest.
Without a second thought I grab my cloak and hat and teleport near the spot where I find myself lost for words, which I might add is not an easy feat. For before me, was two of the most spectacular beings that I have ever laid my eyes on, a mare and a stallion. The mare was beautiful without compare with a mane that looked like all the heavens in it, and with it a soft gold glow that framed her face that had delicate features, but were in some strange way had no defining aspect to them. The stallion was the same but his mane was dark as the night and shone a fantastic blue hue. They looked at me in unison. "Starswirl, we have need of a pony of your talent and wisdom," with a feeling of fear and wonder I look and see what they have in their hands. Each was holding a small tightly swaddle foal. With a feeling like a lead weight fell in my stomach. As they say as one. "Follow us young Starswirl." For some reason I followed without a word as they lead me deep in the forest.
She spoke to me with her unnerving voice. "We need your help raising these two we need you to teach them right and wrong and how to inspire harmony with the world," at the thought I laughed out loud. "That is non-existent in this world," she looked at me with a soft smile and gently said. "Then you will help cultivate it and our daughters will help it grown and you will be their guide but we are here."
As we broke the tree line, we came into a clearing with an old castle that was falling apart with just one good tower left standing. Now the stallion finally speaks and his voice is booming like rolling thunder as he spoke "This is where you and they will live."
With a start I looked at them and asked them. "Ummm what about my stuff?" she looks at me with an apologetic smile. "You need to see what is happening to your home," with a wave of her hand a ball of light appeared and I can see my home and the royal guard were trashing the place. I was in shock when one said, "Where is the traitor?" the other in the room. "Damn must have fled at the last moment." The ball pops and I am silent once more.
I look at them. "So, is that all you need me to do is take care of these foals here, but with the way you have led me in to deepest part of this forest to just give me your foals so what’s the other catch?”
The pair look at each other and the stallion produces a seed that has six cutie marks, and one of them looked like part of my own. I look him in the face “What is this?” In unison they reply: “It is the seed of harmony.”
With a small sigh I look to them. “Well I am stuck huh? So yeah, I will help and take care of the two little one so what are they called?” with small smile.
“That is up to you my friend.”
It has been three weeks now, since that the couple that I am calling Alpha and Omega had left what looks like a complete set of all the books in my library, and a bit more. Now as for the foals, they are a handful the white one I started to call Celestia she is a terror, she keeps whining for food and to be held. Now the other one I call Luna is either crying or sleeping, but also wanting to be held all the time. Luckily as a unicorn I can hold them, feed them, and change them without needing to use my hands, but they still need me to physically hold them. But hey, now to the next problem; food. We are low on milk and food for me as well. But luckily I have found a home of an earth pony and she lives alone, but I don't know how to approach her or how she will act to me or them, and I have to keep them safe.
It is late now; I am walking through a field of small trees they look like apple trees. As I reach the house I hear a strong feminine voice, “Hold it right there, what ya wanta?”
I jump slightly as the door springs open, and now I see the one who sports this voice is an earth pony. As she stands before me, I can now see her clearly now that it is not using my mirror. She is extremely beautiful with light brown fur and a light gold mane, with a very tight and powerful but shapely body that has broad hips with a tight mid rift and a well-toned belly and topping it off is a large pair of breasts. I can see most of her amazing body with her wearing a pair small short and small tank top barely covering the massive melons she is sporting, but past the body and little bit of cloth she is wearing it is her face. She has a face like an angel; the features are strong but feminine. Her eyes are a deep green like the most beautiful of emeralds as I look in to them I can’t keep from saying: “Wow, your eyes are stunning”.
She turns red as the color rushes to her cheeks “What are ya staring at ya damn unicorn?” I look away and take a step back she then sees the foals asleep in my arms. I take a deep breath. “W-we are in need of food and I am willing to trade for them. I have few bits and I can make po-”.
She then interrupts me “Ya need my help huh, why not make it for ya self or just take it from me? All of you unicorns are the same.” as she yells at me, Luna and Celestia wake and start to cry. In a rage from her waking my charges with her yelling I magically amplify my voice. “NOW THAT IS JUST ABOUT ENOUGH, NOW JUST STOP AND LISTEN TO ME: I AM NOT A THIEF OR MIRACLE WORKER SO NOW, can we all talk like normal ponies, so I can get them to sleep once more please?”
She falls back into the home in surprise and as she falls her cleavage bonces for a few seconds after and she nods in agreement. I enter the home to talk to the stubborn pony.
Now as we sit at the small table she looks at me and the two now sleeping foals in my arms she states, “Name’s Apple Brandy and are they yers?”
I raise my head. “My name is Starswirl, and no they are under my care and it is my duty to raise them so, hopefully one day they can unite all ponies as one instead of as many.”
With a strange look on her face she speaks. “How?”
Such a simple, but hard to answer question then I have a realization. “This is how.”
I unswaddled little Celestia and Luna and show her their horns and wings. She has a look that I cannot define, “What are they?” With a simple smile,
“Our salvation.”
