Kittens
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt was a dare, wasn't it? As Pinkie looked down to the squirming pool of kittens, possibly the worst case of animal cruelty she had ever seen, put into this situation because why? More like why not?, she could only find more reasons to smile than to be mad.
That was a fairly dark thought.
Pinkie needed to think this through a bit more.
"All you'll have to do is hop in and find the cupcake. Don't worry about it being crushed, we got it covered," Rainbow Dash told Pinkie while her arm was around her back. "Just think of it like this, it's protected by a glass bubble in a pile of kittens. Then, once you get it, you can enjoy it. Right?"
Besides the fact this may have been the worse idea ever. But, it wasn't like Pinkie to turn down what may be a bad idea, not that she'd be the one hosting them in the first place. Perhaps facing this with a smile was the way to go. Surprisingly, Twilight and Applejack were not here to be the possible voices of reason. Twilight: being a princess; Applejack: bucking trees. Rarity just so happened to be here because of a seemingly bogus claim that her cat wanted to watch this masterpiece of a performance. Fluttershy was here to make sure nothing bad happened to the kittens. Rainbow was here because she was the one who gave Pinkie the dare in the first place. And Pinkie was here because... well, she was the one doing the dare, correct?
"I'd have stopped this the moment I knew you both'd take this childish dare so seriously," Rarity said, petting her cat in her lap and turning away. She looked to her white fluffball of a feline companion and wondered what exactly was pleasurable about this to her. "When did you even find the time to do this, Rainbow Dash?"
Rainbow smiled and laughed, almost in a triumphant manner. "You can't possibly question how I did this so fast! Stray cats ain't hard to find 'round some parts of Ponyville, and I'd say I know of quite a few holes that could be used for a fairly good purpose like this."
"Good purpose?!" Fluttershy squealed in dissent. "You filled a dirty hole with baby kittens! If that isn't the most inhumane, terrible, disorderly thing I've had the misfortune of hearing having been done by a dear friend of mine--"
Rainbow put a hand to Fluttershy's mouth. "Relax, I got it all under control. Once she gets the cupcake, I'll pull her out and with my super speed I'll get the cats out before they get hurt. No biggie."
Thoughts began running through Fluttershy's head as to what could and possibly would go wrong. She fainted.
Rarity looked to Fluttershy as she lay on the picnic blanket, unconscious with a hot towel on her forehead. She then looked to Opal, who was licking her paws and still seeming as if she had not a care in the world other than what was going on right here, right now.
