Over the years, as Sprocket got older, her life became increasingly difficult to live. He father had been fired from his job due to the war and he couldn't get another one, as that was his talent. He began to drink alcohol. First, he would only drink some, becoming mildly affected by the substance, but as the years went by, he would become increasingly more of an alcoholic.
Sprocket would find it difficult to fall asleep at night, as she would often hear her father make empty threats to her mother. One day, when she got home from magic school, the threat wasn't empty. She walked into the house one day, seeing a large pool of a red substance. She walked into the kitchen, where the pool began, staring at her mother, who was laying on the floor with a lifeless look of horror on her now dead face.
Sprocket stared at the scene for a minute, trying to comprehend what she was seeing.
“D-daddy? What happened?” She forced out.
Her dad slowly turned around to look at her, levitating a knife dripping in blood. Sprocket's eyes widened as the adrenaline kicked in. She spun around, partly using the blood on the ground as lubricant, thinking about how she would apologize to her mother later. She bolted away, tracking blood across the carpet and sprinting out the door to the only pony's house that she knew would help: Her uncle's house. She arrived, knocking hastily on the door so see Tagger Flore, her uncle open the door. She told him the situation, and he brought her inside.
The two loaded various forms of weaponry onto a small spaceship, soon lifting off and setting a course toward a planet just outside the solar system. They arrived hours after, landing the ship in a remote location. They rushed off, Tagger grabbing a flail.
They were quick with their escape, but not quick enough. Sprocket's father had found a way to board Tagger's ship without being noticed, only revealing himself now. He quietly walked up behind the two, using his large knife to slice Tagger's front right leg clean off.
Tagger fell, passing out from blood loss. Sprocket's father kicked Sprocket, making her face him as he recited a monologue to her.
“Y'know, if ya hadn't ran from me, I probly woulda made this quick. You probly wouldn'ta felt as much pain as you're gonna feel in a minute. But I wanna have ya take this as yer last lesson of yer life... Never run from me... Cause in this case, I'm gonna kill you... But I'm not just gonna get it over with, I'm gonna make you hurt first.” He rattled off in a drunken tone that only made it more terrifying.
He grew tired of Sprocket whimpering, proceeding to begin cutting off legs. He raised up the knife and slammed it down on her front left leg, cleanly cutting it off, letting the blood gush out. He proceeded to the back right leg with a similar result. He brushed the now amputated limbs to the sides as Sprocket let out an ear-piercing scream of pain.
The scream was apparently enough for Tagger to be woken up by, as he got up as Sprocket's father raised the knife for the decapitating blow. He grabbed his hoof and bent it back, breaking his leg.
“If you wanna mess with my family, you'll have to go through me...”
He picked up the flail and slammed it into the stallion's face, hitting the metal piece far into his skull, killing him instantly as Sprocket drifted into unconsciousness. Tagger picked up Sprocket and laid her on his back as best as he could, making the long journey to the nearest town. Luckily, most of the bleeding had stopped once night fell, more than likely a result of the lower temperature.
“Please don't be dead...” He said to Sprocket, glancing at her on his back.
They arrived in the town. Luckily, the planet's population was made up mostly of ponies who had cybernetic replacements of limbs and other various body parts. They gave Tagger and Sprocket robotic limbs to replace their natural limbs that they had lost. The next morning, Sprocket woke up, looking at her new limbs, wondering what had happened. She talked with Tagger until she had the information he would give her.
Tagger later on went off toward his ship, leaving Sprocket behind, knowing she would be in better hooves on the planet than with him. She spent most of her life there, he brain blocking the traumatic memories, including all of those of her previous family. She didn't know what name her parents had given her. They didn't use names on this planet anyway. The pony that took care of Sprocket was an old stallion who called her 'Little one' for lack of a better thing to call her.
Over the years, she had several injuries which required spine link replacements and an eye implant. She learned to work with machines, building small complex contraptions as a hobby.
Years later, three ponies came to her planet she had begun to call home. She met Insane Drop, a now legendary pony who was known for saving many ponies from deaths in the war. A pony named Star Gazer, a stallion who defied the Solar Empire was there. Last but not least, her now forgotten uncle, Tagger Flore was there. She wasn't the only one who had forgotten. Drop saved the planet with a curious horn he gained from the particles in the air fuzing to form his horn.
Sprocket tagged along to Earth. Years went by, wars ended and started. Sprocket gained her name. She remembered Tagger, and he remembered her. She gained her cutie mark for working with machinery. Then it happened, her mentor, Insane Drop finally died from a mutual stab wound between him and a bounty hunter after him and his family.
