Unseen to the two forgotten races there were two changelings. One in the cloud and one on the ground. The two flew back to the city after seeing the war camp they somehow missed.

Chrysalis was sitting in the mares office looking over the town map.
They had captured the town with ease. However the citizens were another problem.
For a town so isolated they had twenty griffin and eight zebra's .
The griffins from their war like country quickly set up defense lines.
Whiles the zebras had potions that ate threw changeling chitin like it was nothing.
But they are not important, especially since most of the ponies and guards ignored them.
Out of three hundred citizens only fifty believed them. And of the garrison of two hundred royal guard only 27 followed them to their stronghold which was originally a grocery store.
But credit must be given to them in the week it took the swarm to arrive they had it ready to withstand a full changeling attack.
And it was very funny watching the other ponies try to get in only to be ignored. There was that time when the last line of guard was broken. After that the swarm reached them. The group was completely crushed, any the fought were killed and the rest cocooned.
