The Same Dream Every Night
What if they left me behind? Would I have to go back "there"? Pinkie shoved her face into her pillow and sobbed. Would they leave me behind?
Every night, Pinkie Pie would have a nightmare. The nightmare was always the same every time, and every time, it would leave Pinkie in tears. It's just a dream Pinkie, your friends would never leave you all alone! A familiar smile spread across Pinkie's face. Don't worry, you silly, you'll never have to go back there ever again! Pinkie crawled out of her bed and trotted downstairs to find a snack.
Every night, it ended the same way. Staring into her cupcake, Pinkie thought about her dream. Why would everypony leave me alone, my friends love me! Finally, things were looking up, she managed to cheer herself up. Pinkie devoured her cupcake in one bite. Maybe I eat too many sweets before bed... Or maybe I don't eat enough!
Pinkie slowly climbed her way back up the stairs, back to her room. I need to sleep, or else I wont be able to bake tomorrow! Pinkie slid back into her bed, smiling. If only that smile would last.
Every night, every single night. The same dream happened night after night, the same dream every time. Pinkie would walk through an empty Ponyville, everyone had moved away. Windows were boarded and doors were all locked, and Pinkie was the only one left.
I can always go back "there"... No matter where she wanted to go, Pinkie always ended up back "there". Pinkie was always led back to that place, with it's sad, gray ground, sunless sky, and dark, depressing air. Every night, Pinkie was led back to the rock farm
It's not so bad... This is where I learned to smile! She would try to cheer herself up, but deep inside, she knew she could never be happy here. This place is so... sad... Soon enough, the air would get to her, she would soon break.
Why do I call myself Pinkie Pie? That's such a childish name... Then, she would begin to change. Pinkie would no longer smile, she couldn't. Pinkamena was her true name, but that name seemed to change her. I really should get back to work, these rocks won't turn themselves.
Hours of grueling labour would follow. Each rock had to be turned. Each rock had to be in line. Each rock HAD to be perfect. I'm glad they all left, now I can finally make my parents proud.
Why Pinkie dream the same dream every night? My parents WILL be proud, I'll grow the most beautiful rocks. I don't have time for jokes and parties, smiling is for children. Even though she thought she was right, her own mind scared her. Pinkie wasn't going to let herself down, not again. Every time, a rainbow would streak across the sky. Every time, Pinkie would scoff and continue her work. Rainbows are far too colourful and childish. I don't need any more distractions.
Every night, every single night, the same dream slowly tore away at her spirit. Pinkie would always wake up in tears. I don't want to go back there... I don't want to be so serious and angry... Pinkie was afraid to tell her friends, what if they did leave her?
Every night, it ended the same way, Pinkie would climb out of bed and begin baking, it was the only thing that calmed her down. Pinkie had told her friends that she got up early because she liked to, maybe it was time to tell them the truth.
Pinkie left Sugarcube Corner and walked through the desolate Ponyville. It's only nighttime, everypony is still here... The distraught pony searched for a friend. Maybe Twilight's awake? She's smart enough to help me!
The tall tree stood in front of Pinkie, she knocked on it's door. A sleepy Twilight Sparkle opened the door, she must have been studying, she led the pink pony inside. "Why are you here so late, Pinkie?" asked Twilight as she trotted upstairs to her bedroom. Pinkie braced herself for her reply, "I've been having nightmares..." the Pink pony's hair deflated as she stared at the ground. Twilight smiled and led Pinkie to her bed, "It's okay Pinkie, you can sleep here for the night." Pinkie Pie let a weak smile spread across her lips once more, "Thank you, Twilight."
Every night, every single night, Pinkie would have a nightmare. In the safety of a friend, Pinkie Pie could finally sleep. Every night ended the same way, except for tonight, tonight was different. "Hey, Twilight?" Pinkie whispered to her sleepy friend, "Will you ever leave Ponyville and forget about me?" Pinkie's mouth quivered in fear of her response. Twilight smiled and replied, "Pinkie, I'll always be your friend."
Every night had ended the same way, before now. Tonight, Pinkie Pie slept soundly, dreaming about her favourite things in the world, her friends
