Six Locks
Chapter 12: Living the Life Before...
Previous ChapterI groaned, and got up. It took me a minute to realize what's happening. I look around to see that I'm in my old room. Everything is different though. There's color. There's fresh air. There is an all too familiar pegasus in bed with me. I smiled happily. I got out of bed quietly and went around the cloud house. Everything is just the way it is since I left it. I look at the calendar and gasped quietly. It said I died a long time ago. About two years. I almost cried for them. It said today was my son's birthday. I doubt they'll miss me too much now, but they miss me none the less. I walk outside to see the starry night, the sun about to rise. I sighed in relief. I went back inside and headed upstairs to see my little angel. Fretus Wing. He was laying sprawled out, his brown hair messy and almost the same style as mine. His blue wings were in good condition. I got out before anyone woke up, and headed to the cemetery. I found all of my buddies' tombstones. Even mine. I look at all the epitahs. Mine said, 'A good person who was stubborn, and cared for his friends and family. He was a great husband and father'. I stood for a minute, reading the engraving. I didn't read the others, I lost interest. I looked around to realize that there was a bunch of snow. I smiled, loving the cold.
I sighed as I heard a distant familiar song. Pinkie. Pinkie's morning song. She still sings it. I stopped a minute when I realize it was quieter than usual. Normally it's almost blasting, but now it's so faint I can barely hear it. Even stranger, it stopped in the middle of it's chorus. At first I thought Max met her again, but Pinkie wouldn't cry like this. I sat down next to my tombstone. It's weird. To me, it's weird to be technically dead for two years. I smirked and got up and walked. I have a plan on how to give my son a present. I took out everything in my pockets to see I have enough money for a toy. I hope so anyway. I looked up to see all of my best friends looking at their tombstones. "Weird isn't it?" I ask. They all jump and look at me. "Today is a very convenient day for me. Today is my son's birthday, and I've been gone for two years," I said. Tom nodded.
"Today is the anniversary of my wedding," He said. Tears have been going down his face. "I have been gone for at least two years as well," he said. Max nodded silently. I felt myself smile.
"Well, today is a great day to give our family and friends a great present," I said. I stood up, about to walk to a shop.
"Where are you going?" Max asks.
"I can't go to Fretus' birthday empty handed," I said, walking off.
It's three o'clock, and Fretus is happy for all the gifts he got. He got action figures, wonderbolt posters, and even a new helmet! He could be completely awesome with it! Especially in hoof ball! Rainbow Dash smiles as he sits on the couch, playing with two action figures. She looks at the calendar that was marked with multiple marking. She looks at the month and sighs. "Two years Sam, I hope you're okay up there," she said. She has been keeping track of how long it has been since I died. She sighs again and looks out at the snowy winter outside. She then saw something odd. She thought she was seeing things based on what she was seeing. She saw a familiar man outside with a black jacket, a weird t-shirt with Halo: Reach on it, jeans, and black sneakers, walking to the front door. Knocking was heard and Rainbow reacted quickly.
"Coming!" She exclaims. She reached to the door and opens it. What she saw made her gasp. The same man was standing in front of her, holding a red fedora. The man smiled softly.
"Hi," he said. Rainbow kept her shocked face.
"H-hi..." Rainbow sat stunned for a minute before the man chuckled.
"Two years I was gone and you already don't recognize me? I always thought that pegasi never forget," he said. Fretus looked over at who his mother was talking to and gasped.
"Dad?" He asks. I, the familiar man standing in front of them, nodded.
"Hiya kiddo, how have you been while I was gone?" I ask. Rainbow was still stunned, watching the man she loved that died, had come back to life.
"Is this a dream?" She asks. I leaned over and kissed her lips passionately.
"If it is, I hope it doesn't end," I said. Fretus runs over to me and hugs me extremely tight, crying happily. I hug him back and dragged Rainbow over to join in. As we all hugged, I look at Fretus. "By the way, today is your birthday isn't it?" I ask. He nods.
"This is the greatest gift ever!" He says.
"Well, guess what else I got for you?" I ask. I pull out the red fedora I had and gave it to him.
"What is this? A hat?" He asks curiously.
"Yep, it was a hat I would always wear when I was first here. It holds many special memories. I want you to have it," I said. Fretus smiles widely. He tries to wear it on his head, but it was a little too big. It leaned onto one side, covering his left eye. I chuckled a little. Rainbow kisses me again and hugs me crushingly.
"Don't die again please?" She asks.
"Don't worry I'm not going to go away too soon," I said. As we all happily hugged, our lives felt complete again. I was glad that the journey was over. Now, I have to complete the true journey of life. Joe was hugged and squeezed to death at his home. Tom was actually missed to my surprise. Jacob's daughter couldn't hug Jacob hard enough. Max had the biggest party that Pinkie had ever made. Henry and Rarity had a great, great time at the spa, then at the movies.
I, Sam Smith, am happy I don't have to go through trials as bad anymore. Now, the next generation however, just started.
