We're one in the same
We're More Alike Than You Know.
Load Full Story"Excuse me?!" Adagio Dazzle said gripping her fists. After the whole battle incident, she didn't wanna be caught up in a love fest with Sunset Shimmer.
"I was just wondering if you wanted to go get some lunch with me? Unless it's too much trouble." Sunset replied softly.
"I'm sorry but-"
"SHE'D LOVE TO!" Sonata Dusk replied bumping into Adagio at the door. Aria Blaze followed behind her hold on to Adagio's shoulders.
"Yeah Sunset, Adagio has digged you ever since we came to this lame world." Aria added.
Adagio face became an angry red. Before she could say "THEY'RE LYING I DON'T WANNA GO!" Sunset jumped up and said.....
"Pick you up at 5!"
As she began to leave, Adagio angrily slammed the door. She could feel Sonata and Aria slowly tip toeing backwards away to there rooms. Adagio thought quick to go out and say....
"ARIA! SONATA!" She used some leftover aura magic from the broken pendant to form to magically red fists and pulled them both back, still holding them in her grip.
"You two are in for it! How could you say yes!?" Adagio complained, Aria rolled her eyes.
"Adagio, ever since the whole battle and "losing equestrian magic" incident you've been stressed lately. This is your chance to well-"
"LIGHTEN UP!" Sonata interrupted,"because like forrealizes, you've been a total bummer!"
Adagio sighed, while letting both Aria and Sonata go.
"Fine! I'll go to this lunch/dinner "thing" but only if you two will shut it!" Adagio said, giving up. Aria and Sonata both smiled at each other, then at her then nodded quickly.
Adagio sighed once again and groaned, "You guys are are worst."
Several hours had passed and Adagio was still in the dining room, looking at her PB&J sandwich in her PJ's. Sonata walked in and grunted.
"Forrealizes Dagi?! That's what your wearing?!" She complained. Adagio slowly turned around, giving Sonata the death stare.
"Welf, sheth saidth lunchth noth dinner." Adagio said, with a half eaten sandwich in her mouth.
"The worst part about it is that she's in her PJ's" Aria added, walking in on their conversation, "at least wear something presentable."
"Fine." Adagio replied, while lazily getting up and slowly going to her room to change. It didn't take her too long to exchange her fluffy seahorse pajama pants for bootcut velvet red jeans. She decided to keep her black sweater on.
"Happy now?" Adagio asked, with a irritated look.
"I guess it's presentable." Sonata replied turning her head sideways. Aria shook her head in agreement. Adagio walked towards the door and looked out the window only to see Sunset already prepared, sort of. Adagio sighed and opened the door.
"Are you ready for our date- I mean lunch?" Sunset asked, sweating nervously. Sunset had on a white sweater with green bootcut jeans on. Adagio could see Sunset's hand shaking and trying to reach her's, so she snatched away.
"Let's just get this over with." Adagio replied, baling her fists and walking out the door and now in front of Sunset who shrugged her shoulders.
Aria and Sonata saw the couple leave out, "HAVE FUN ON YOUR DATE!"
Adagio and Sunset finally reached Sunset's ruby red Corvette with her half red half yellow sun cutie mark on the hood of the car. Sunset opened the door for Adagio.
"Are you ready Dagi?" She asked. Adagio gave her a disgusted look.
"Only my friends call me Dagi." She snapped, as she entered the car and slammed the door. Sunset shrugged her shoulders, entered her car, and started to drive. It was silent for half of the drive. Sunset started a conversation, but all Adagio did was nod yes and no.
The two arrived at the fast food restaurant where Adagio remembered she first spotted the equestrian magic used to defeat Sunset.
"This is where I first spotted equestrian magic. I remember it was used to defeat you." Adagio smirked evilly.
"Yeah, and so were you." Sunset added, walking in the restaurant. Adagio grunted.
The two walked to the closest table that was by the window and sat down. The waitress came to their table.
"Would you two like any drinks?"
"Mountain Dew." Sunset said raising her hand. The waitress then turned to Adagio.
"And you miss?"
"I'm not really-"
"She'll have a water!" Sunset ordered. The waitress wrote it down and left to get their drinks. Adagio turned angrily, facing Sunset.
"I'm not hungry nor thirsty. I was sure to eat before I came here." Adagio said, putting her head down. Sunset sighed.
The waiter soon did come back with drinks and then pulled out her notebook.
"What would you like to order?" Adagio was sure to annoy Sunset tonight.
"A bag of Doritos." Adagio called, putting her arm behind her head and laying back. Sunset became irritated.
"I'd like a salad please." Sunset order. The waitress nodded her head and when to the kitchen. Sunset faced towards Adagio annoyed.
"Why didn't you order food?" She complained, Adagio rolled her eyes.
"I'm a siren. Sirens don't need to eat. And you're a pony. You shouldn't need to eat either." Adagio replied. Sunset sighed.
"Ponies eat. All mammals eat, and since you're a siren, you should eat too! I mean doesn't Sonata like tacos?" Adagio growled at the question.
"Yeah yeah. Sonata likes Mexican food, but adores tacos. Aria tried fruits and veggies, but she likes fruit more. She eats bananas daily. Something to make fun of her for." Adagio laughed, remembering when Aria first tried bananas and looked at them disgusted. But the next day, she fell utterly in love with it.
Sunset began chuckling nervously.
"So what do you eat?" Sunset continued the previous conversation. But Adagio looked at her as if she had hit her head against the window.
"NOTHING! PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY AND DORITOS ARE MY LIFE!"Adagio yelled standing up. Everyone's conversation so ended, and the turned with confused looks on their faces, facing Sunset and Adagio.
Sunset started blushing nervously, while Adagio stood proud and tall. The waitress arrived with Sunset's salad and Adagio's bag of Doritos.
Sunset gladly poured Italian dressing on her salad and added the cheese that was given to her. She didn't hesitate to grab her fork and start digging in.
Adagio grabbed her bag and started mashing and chopping on Doritos. Sunset became worried.
"You know, you should try 'FOOD' it's good for you." Sunset nagged. Adagio continued chopping. Before she could put another chip in her mouth, Sunset grabbed her hand and stuffed her fork of lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and a bit of Italian dressing in Adagio's mouth. Of course Adagio became angry with her eyes becoming white with a leftover shade of red, and thought quickly to spit out the fork.
"YOU KNOW! I NEVER WANTED TO GO ON THIS LUNCH DATE IN THW FIRST PLACE!" She yelled, stomping out of the building. Sunset got up and quickly followed her.
"Wait!" Sunset yelled, trying to catch up to Adagio who was still pacing forward, now in front of the Equestrian Library building. She then stopped in her tracks and waited for Sunset to catch up.
"What do you want from me? Haven't you done enough!? You took away what meant most to me! And now you take me on this stupid lunch date?! JUST LEAVE ME ALON-"
Before Adagio could finish, Sunset screamed, "SHUT UP!" Adagio quickly turned.
"WHAAAT?" She scolded.
"JUST SHUT UP! I AN SO SICK AND TIERD OF YOU COMPLAINING! THAT'S ALL YOU'VE DONE!" Sunset yelled, crouching her knees down to the ground.
"I just thought that since you lost everything you had, I thought I could cheer you up. You're not the only one whose lost 'Everything'." Sunset said on the bench outside of the library.
Adagio turned slowly with arms crossed, "What do you mean?"
"I tried to take over Equestria once. I failed, and I lost everything. Everyone hated me so much, because the way I treated them, but I decided to change my ways. I made friends, I made a difference, I learned that my past doesn't defy me and who I am, and you can too." Adagio joined Sunset on the bench.
"When we first came here, I thought this place was stupid, and I didn't really care about other people's feelings. After that battle, Sonata and Aria turned to me, and we were lucky enough to find a beach house. But I lost everything too." Adagio began sniffing, "we were homeless. We were broke. We had nothing. The mayor gave us a little money and agreed to pay for our bills for the house, but I was still angry at myself. I couldn't lead Aria or Sonata, I couldn't even lead myself." Adagio began crying.
"I HAVE NO ONE!" Sunset thought quickly to hug Adagio tightly.
"You have me." Sunset whispered, "and I think you're pretty great."
Adagio started crying and balling her eyes out, while hugging Sunset back, who also started crying. Adagio pulled away wiping away access tears.
"You know, you and me are more alike than we know." She said softly, which made Sunset blush, but smile back. She shyly leaned in to kiss Adagio, but hesitated and pulled away. Adagio forcefully, but softly, pulled Sunset in and their lips met.
Sunset never felt relieved in her life. When she kisses Flash the times before, it never felt as magical as this. Adagio felt different as well. Sunset's lips were tender and soft which made Adagio feel warm inside.
The two kisses for a long time, embracing each other under the full moon which shimmered and shined under them. Aria and Sonata were right, this would lighten up things for Adagio, when her seriousness and anger turned into excitement and joy.
