The Ground and the Cloud

There have been many strange things to happen in the vast land of Equestria. Raging monsters from the Everfree Forest, a nightmare almost seeping into reality, and even a tyrant from another land. Throughout all of these, Equestria's Heroes, "The Elements of Harmony", so they're called, have been there to save it each and every time.

You could call them a lot of things. Helping, cheerful, brave, thoughtful. They are true friends, who have all lived valiant and true lives.

Although, with these friendships come hardships as well. There have been times where one or two of them haven't gotten along right with each other. Sometimes, even all of them would be harsh among themselves. But that never divided them forever. They always pulled through.

But some things are even beyond their control. Where friendship did not matter as much as it should. A driving force, one might say. Something that drove between the very lives of them.

For these ponies, there are connections that were there much before any meeting or true bonding. Whether it be trying to help for a singular reason, like a bully, there is always something that connected them. It's not their continued friendship that kept them together, it was that one, singular moment.

When you drive a force between that moment, you don't break one thing. You break everything that made them friends. Their past, their present, and their future is never the same as it was.

So what could possibly drive a wedge that deep? Well, for our two protagonists, it was something that never existed in the world before. "A new discovery," Magic would call it. "Excitement," Laughter said. The word "Wonderful" came from Generosity. Honesty was unsure, but called it "A way to look at the world, past and future" anyway.

Those words meant nothing when compared to what Kindness and Loyalty thought. To them, this new "Discovery" was nothing to be "Excited" or "Wonderful" about. It wasn't "A way to look at the world". It was a way to drive to the very roots of what brought the two of them together. They called it "Horrible, a deception, lies..."

But perhaps this a bit ahead of ourselves. After all, there's not anything to be done about it. Only explained.

But even what can be explained is not certain to be done so. For what these two have gone through, they hardly understand it themselves.

But even for them, their story began just as unexpected as any other. When two meet a driving force that changed everything.
